HANDS DOWN! THE BEST! I absolutely LOVE this place! It's GREAT for ANY occassion! atmosphere is wonderful, I do suggest getting the Private rooms, they have lovely garden views and it's secluded so you can pig out without people from the next table staring you down! the lighting is calming. the service is excellent, the food is amazing. gosh I have so many good experiences I can't cram them all on here fast enough. you truly have to come in and check it out for yourself. Any season, is pretty (for the gardens) I now live in California & I crave their soups and salads often, and no one seems to make it the way Windy's does! the only bad thing I could say about this place, is that they only have one toilet for the women's bathroom so you have to wait if someone is already in there. I also love this place because it's ALWAYS clean! I wouldn't really advise anyone to bring children, although they do have a kids menu, and it's perfect in serving portions for little tummys, but it's just the fact that this place is so lovely and so much more fun when you are trying to relax and enjoy your time with a loved one, or a couple friends.

Good atmosphere. I can't believe I found killer sushi in Ogden!

This is my favorite restaurant in Ogden. I love how they decorate their restaurant, and this place is always clean. I highly recommend their private room. It is literally private, you can relax and enjoy your time!! I love their sushi! My favorite is Mars Roll and Misia Roll. They have so many selections of rolls, so you should be able to find your favorite! Service is very nice, and waiters are so friendly. If you use private room, every meal comes with salad and soup. I love their salad, but I highly recommend Chicken Salad!!! It is so delicious!! Their starters are also great, my favorite is Calamari, Oyster, and Green Mussels. I often have their stakes because it is so big, savory, juicy, and tasty!!!!! If you are looking for a nice place to go on a date, this is the right place with no doubt!! For families, I think it is great place since every plate is big so you can share foods as well!! Overall, this is one of the best place to go in Ogden!!! I recommend this place to everybody!!

My wifes family is Japanese and they eat here when going out for japanese food. That is enough justification for me to recommend the place, especially considering how picky she and her family are.

Just had dinner there. Never again. I make better Japanese food at home. Yakisoba was awful...dried pieces of chicken...heavy with whatever that sauce was...heavy, heavy on the soy sauce. My husband barely touched his food. We were with a group and did not want to make a fuss about it. Two things done right: waitress was excellent and salad dressing on house salad was excellent. Tona's is much better.

nice atmosphere. very friendly wait staff. they don't serve wine but you can bring your own. Tona's downtown is better for the sushi lover.

I have only ordered takeout so I can't speak to the atmosphere or service, but only the food. My first time I ordered a roll and the miso soup and it was ok. I liked that the miso had enoki mushrooms in it. My second time I ordered two rolls and miso and was disappointed in the rolls. The crab salad in the California roll was so creamy, it tasted like way to much mayo and not enough crab. They just didn't taste fresh and I actually threw them out after a few bites because they didn't taste good. I hear good things about the traditional Japanese fare so maybe I should try that.

Amazing ambience as well as food. If you go with more than a few people, be sure and get one of the private rooms (and don't forget to take off your shoes.) The music, the lighting, the shoji screens and the garden view all create an out-of-ogden experience like you won't believe. The miso soup is, of course, a great starter alongside the asian salad with the light and crunchy wonton-croutons. The nigiri and maki sushi are both great before or after the centerpiece of Windy's Sukiyaki-- the sukiyaki. Your friends will never believe the kind of food you bring back from Windy's!

nice people, great sukiyaki, cute ambiance. i've been to many japanese restaurants and have several japanese friends who cook authentic food. the sukiyaki was yummy, generous and reasonably priced. also, kid friendly waitresses! THANK you Yelp for making a rest stop on a long trip SO yummy.

I have been coming here off and on since I was in high school, so over 20 years, and I loved the flaming vegetables and the soup and salad. I haven't been in the last 5 it so and was sad to see how much has changed. I would have given it three stars, but making me pay for the soup and salad.... Dropped them to a new low. And no more flaming vegetables... :(. On the bright side, I love the tea rooms and my service has always been nice. We didn't have the sushi, and the food itself was good. If I come back...I will order just the sushi, salad, and soup.

10/10 for the ambiance and the style. This is sure to be the coziest and most feng shui place you'll ever eat at! We fell in love with the interior decorations and the feeling of actually being in japan. The private seating is great to set the mood for any romantic outing, or even just a group of friends wanting to have a fun evening. They have a great selection of sushi rolls that are sure to never disappoint. The most amazing however was the Mango Mango dessert roll served with a scoop of Gourmet Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. 10/10 for sushi selection, price and taste. Overall an exquisite experience and a must try! Guaranteed not to disappoint.

The first time I went to this place, I was in high school. I thought the food was pretty good and the setup charming. But then I went more recently for a friend's birthday. Honestly, the food was pretty mediocre. The service was okay. It was wildly overpriced. I'm not going to go back.

Great price, great atmosphere and great service. I really felt like I was in first class while here and I loved that the private rooms are secluded enough that we were able to have our kids without feeling like we were disturbing anyone. The calamari was insanely good and the kids gobbled it up like candy.

Portion of food was more than i could eat. The fried rice is amazing. We got the combo fried rice. I got the #5 i believe. I would recommend that dish. The kastu pork, teriyaki beef, gyoza, and potatoes and carrots.

Great atmosphere but the food is lacking.. 2 out of 5 dishes not cooked right and the sushi lacked flavor.. Service was great it was halloween so everyone was dressed up... My favorite was the grumpy bear

I've eaten here several times and love it! You can call ahead and reserve a tea room and have a more private dining experience. I have the Hell Roll EVERY time. They have great rolls and a variety of other food that works well if you're dining with non-sushi eaters. Check out their Facebook page for specials!

Love this place! Love their private rooms! Perfect for birthdays or intimate date. Love their Hottie Hottie - ask for their personal favorites, they always give great recommendations!

I've been to Windy's 7-8 times over the last 14 years. This IS NOT traditional Sukiyaki with the veggies and meat tray brought out for you to cook yourself. It is pre-made in a bowl. Although served this way, I initially remember their Sukiyaki still having that sweet original broth and tasting like it should. I went there this past Saturday and the experience was very sub-standard. The "sukiyaki" bowl barely passed for Sukiyaki! No flavor... I've always liked their calamari and oyako donburi.. BUT, if a Japanese restaurant is going to put "sukiyaki" in their name.. DO IT RIGHT and DO IT EXTREMELY WELL. The service was great and very friendly, but I doubt I'll be back. I can make it better at home.

Our all time favorite sushi restaurant! We eat in but take out even more. And even our take out boxes are filled with beautiful sushi rolls. I would say my husband and I get sushi from here at least three times a month. Not to mention my friends and me going at least twice a month. It costs just a bit more than I like to spend but because it's such great food, I don't mind too much. The seared tuna is to die for! My husbands favorite is the Poke! We have never been disappointed with Windy's! And you get a 10% discount if you pay with cash.

I went to Windy's Sukiyaki for late dinner, at a time that they were almost close. The store label outside caught my eye. The inner decoration is pretty Japanese style. They offer dine hall and individual rooms for groups. I like the overall atmosphere presented there, and waitresses were quite enthusiastic. If you say "Ha ji me ma shi de, Yo lo shi gu o ne ka yi shi mas" to them, they will treat you with their warmness 5 times more. Also, JP music is just melted in the environment. I did not have a big order, Cos I have already had sth. in belly before coming to this Japanese restaurant. 4 pieces of gyoza, and a bowl of fried noodles with shrimps totally beat me down. Besides, I feel like it is a place more suitable for dinner on Friday. Jimmy Feb 28, 2014

This is just an awesome place. Tonight we had; mars and california rolls, their sushi is always good pokee (spelling?) For the first time. It was fantastic! Really good spiciness and great flavors. Fried rice, their rice is also always very good Garlic edamame, amazing My wife had the sukiaki for the first time (vegetable/tofu) and she said it was great. Shes been craving it again all night. I've loved Windys for a while. It's as good as almost any of the best sushi places I've eaten at all over the world. This place, Midori, and Tsunami are the best places I've had sushi in Utah. The only thing I can say bad about Windys is that , strangely, it seems that the food they serve on the non-tea-room side of the restaurant is more hit and miss. Weve eaten here at the normal tables a couple of times when the food was just meh... but its always been spectacular when we get a tea room....

Slow! We left Hanamaru becuase we didn't have a reservation and couldn't get seated fast enough for the 5 year old with us. Leaving was a mistake. We headed to nearby Windys. We ordered 3 rolls, a salmon dinner, and a steak and shrimp dinner. The salmon showed up first which was good because it was the 5 year olds dinner. Then, about 30 minutes later the steak and shrimp. Ok, 2 of our 4 people have eaten. It takes nearly 40 more minutes to get the three rolls, the final bit of dinner. It was sort of strange eating as you go. We sat in the dinning room, which was fine, the music was loud but I guess that's how it goes. Moral of the story: go to Tona for Sushi and Hanamaru for noodles because that what's good in Ogden.

Love this place! I still dream about Windy's Chicken Salad and have never found any Asian restaurant with an equivalent. The only salad that's even more delicious as take-out than when dining in. The sushi is the best you'll find in Ogden (but not as good as Ichiban in Salt Lake, mainly because its selections are more limited). Basically, I have never had anything here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The staff is extremely friendly, too, so dining at Windy's is a pleasant experience overall.

Best sushi in town! Not to mention the service. I have been to other sushi spots in Ogden and Windy's is the best. Good food, friendly staff, tea rooms and great atmosphere. This should be your #1 choice for sushi in Ogden.

Best restaurant in the area!! The private rooms make for an amazing date night. I've been coming here for years and the service is always on point. Wonton soup still one of my all time favorites

It's kinda weird to me to walk into a resturaunt and see the people in front of you walk in holding a case of bush light and get seated with said beer no problem. Despite the info on here this place does NOT serve any adult beverages but they will let you bring in your own and in my book that kicks ass! The private dineing rooms are nice the food is pretty good. Make sure and save room for the green tea ice cream it is amazing!!

This was a Meh experience. We were seated right away. The sushi was small with ok quality, We left less than satisfied. It sucks to sit down and realize they don't serve alcohol. The strange thing is that they let you bring your own which is cool in some ways. Bring your own beer.

Sushi was good but tempura was soggy. Terribly over priced. Steak was aweful. Will never go back.

Environment: - As you walk in you have two options; private dinning or regular. I always suggest private. Upon walking into the private dinning you are immediately immersed in cozy traditional Japanese decor. In the private dinning section you basically have your very own room to enjoy your meal in, with a window that looks out into a pretty garden. Drinks: - this place does not have a liquor license so unfortunately there is nothing available from the menu. However they allow you to bring your own!!!! So grab a six pack of your favorite beer and chow down. Food: - as far as sushi goes this place is fantastic. The sushi has always been fresh, delicious and very nicely presented. The appetizers and entrees have never disappointed as well, all ingredients in the meals were seasoned and cooked just right. The green tea ice cream is a must even if you have to take it home to eat if you are to full. Price: - very reasonable, for the amount and quality of food. For example: 2 fancy sushi rolls that have more in them then the others will average you about 12 bucks, which for good sushi is a very good price. The entrees are a bit more expensive however they are worth every penny. Service: - every time I have been here the service was prompt and friendly. The wait staff was attentive to our drinks, knowledgeable about the menu and provided fast service getting the food out

Would not recommend! Poor customer service! We made a reservation and still waited an hour to be seated. Went out with other couples and they were unwilling to split the check up. Had to track the waitress down for refills and our check. Never again!

I was surprised to find an adequate Japanese-style restaurant in a town like Ogden, which seems to have very few Japanese residents. We ate there for dinner in one of the private rooms. Our view was of a small garden and the floor level table (with a well for our American legs, not used to kneeling). I wouldn't call the ambiance "amazing" but it was more than adequate. I had chicken Yakisoba, which seemed heavy-handed on the shoyu element, but the chicken was light and the vegetable ingredients were cooked just right. My dinner companion (a Californian with discriminating sushi standards) had a sushi assortment which she pronounced more than adequate. Next time I'm in Ogden, I'll give Windy's another try, and order the special salmon dinner.

The food is typical..but the place is beautiful as long as you ask for a privet room. I like the Wonton soup & salad dressing & desert. I don't like the Yakisoba and cheap taste greentea drink for 8$.

The sushi rolls were huge, but the flavors were muddied and boring. Even their wasabi lacked boldness. It wasn't the worst sushi I've ever had, but it's definitely not the best. As for the gyozas, they were horrible. A lump of pork in a wrapper that's not even folded is not a gyoza. I don't know what those things were. The service was great and I can't say I'll never go back, I'm just not planning on it any time soon.

Best Japanese , nothing in the area compares, it is worth the drive.

  • Utah Chic K.

Great Japanese food (teriyaki, yakisoba, udon bowls). Pros: Some of the nicest servers in town, excellent Japanese dishes, certain excellent rolls - crunchy veggie, tuna rolls, eel rolls. Option to seat in casual or private dining, works for family dining or special occasions. Cons: Sushi rolls aren't as inventive or fresh tasting as Tona sushi on 25th St. However, Windy's still does do good sushi and is MUCH cheaper. There are no outstanding desserts here - head elsewhere for your final course if desired. Parking lot is awkward, but doable. Only open after 5 pm for dinner.

Do yourself a favor, go further down the street, make a right on 37th and eat at Hanamaru.
