Any place that's home to a certain "homemade bbq sauce" that is so phenomenal it got recognized at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is worth stopping at for a bite to eat. Recommended: everything! What we ordered: the bourbon burger- sweet, soft, flavorful, insert many more fabulous food adjectives pulled pork sandwich- soft, tangy, topped with a certain flavor that was also recognized at the Sturgis. Waitress: Mandy- sweeter than Splenda Words are cheap, a picture's worth a thousand of them, and those two put together (i.e. this review) do not come close to bestowing the deserved justice upon this place. It's up to you to do The Hideout, and most importantly yourself, an iota of justice by simply stopping by. As if the food wasn't enough, the atmosphere is as warm as the food is delicious and the antique decor is simple and yet still eye-catching IN its simplicity. Not pretentious or even trying to be, just homey and yummy in the tummy.

What a fun experience! I had the New York steak on a stone, and it was delicious! The sides were pretty typical for restaurants, but no complaints there. We had the fried green beans (most likely not homemade, but still very fresh tasting). I went at the start of the lunch hour and we were the only ones there, but our waitress was very nice and attentive. The chef even checked to see how we were doing. This place is a little out of the way, but definitely worth it. On a separate experience, I tried some ribs and chicken from their catering truck at a local event....very delicious!

Best prime rib I've ever had, the rub went perfectly together with the smoke. On another occasion I had the steak on a stone. The steak is great quality, hand cut in the restaurant and tender. It isn't over seasoned so you can actually taste the beef. Best part is you get the steak exactly as you like it and every bite is warm. If you don't want to cook it on the stone you can have the kitchen cook it like any other random steak house. I'm not sure about the other person's review as there is no $60 item on the menu. The most expensive is around $30. Wait staff is awesome and friendly. I asked the waiter about their hamburgers, the meat is ground at the site, not many places do that these days. Definitely worth the trip if you are in the basin, even a fun trip if you are further out. I'll be back for more home cooked food.

Let you inner cave man out and cook some meat on a hot rock. Do not touch the rock, whatever you do not know touch the rock. Cook you burn your steak. Fun to do and enjoy. If cooking not your thing then choice from items the cooks in the back do. I have a 50/50 burger which is 1/2 beef and pork. Lots of things to try that you may have see in other places you visit. Go for it.

This place was awesome. The waitress was helpful and on top getting our drinks and orders. The food was great and my husband FINALLY got a steak rare just like he likes!!! Friendly staff, awesome food and yummy dessert!!!

Great salad bar. If you get a steak, get it on a rock so that you can cook it to your likeness. Best food I have had in the area, although the baked beans were not real impressive, but good.

A lot of character here. Excellent friendly service. A lot of interesting antiques on the wall. We had the steaks on the stone. A unique treat. Ribeye was very good. Salad bar was good. This is the best place in many miles. Solid restaurant but not exceptional.

Steak on a rock! We were looking for a good steakhouse and found it. The filet was very tender and was great. The staff was great, chef and owner both came and greeted our table!

The service is spotty, ranging from the bear you see on "when bears attack" to the nicest most charming person you will ever meet, this is not a good mix and makes it actually worse than poor service because you are taking a constant gamble on how you will be treated. The food is beyond over priced for coming off a sysco truck and into the microwave, gravy, potatoes, mac'n'cheese, and beans are all dishes made out of house, frozen, then shipped and nuked just for you. I've had the steak on a stone and maybe it's my dad's voice coming from deep down inside me saying, why am I paying 60 dollars for a steak and cooking it myself? With no seasoning and the fattiest and worst cut of steak I've had no gimmick will save that beef chunk with a 60 buck price tag. If you want a clean place to sit down the hideout works. If you want to pay out the nose for what you could get at a gas station this is the place for you.
