We stayed in the Monticello as iy locates between our destinations, the Arches NP and Grand NP. We did not find too many restaurants to select from on our way here, so we asked our hotel staff and got this one. The decor was kind of plain and old, and with some odd smelling. We ordered Steak, Chicken Fried Steak and salad bar. The salrd bar was small, but OK to start with, not as bad as some other reviews said. The fried chicken was not very tender, but was OK too. The staek, however, was too old to chew. Nice thing was that wneh we complained to the waiter, she brought back the dish to the kitchen, and told us to waive our cost on this dish after she returned. It was really an amazing courtesy and made us felt quite good after all. The unit price was not cheap considering its remote location. If you were staying here as we did and have to find a palce to dine in, this could be the one to choose. Otherwise go to Moab for much more selections.

Food is greasy and not flavorful. Restaurant needs renovation. Positive, one of the only restaurants in Monticello.

We ate here on a Sun night when stopped in town for the night on our road trip. Prompt and friendly service. Our food (club sandwich and southwestern turkey sandwich) was delicious. We also had onion rings that were perfectly cooked - crispy, not too greasy, and you could take a bite without pulling the onion out of the crust.

The dining selections in Monticello, UT on a Sunday are extremely limited. We asked for recommendations and this restaurant was the leader. We would give the restaurant a 2.5. The service was very friendly and prompt, but the food was unimaginative, American standard cuisine. Adequate but uninspiring. Seems most items came out of the freezer. The fried chicken was very good, little, if any seasoning would be my only criticism. A safe bet if traveling through town.

I did not try the food because the Ajax smell was over powering. Waitress greeted me friendly. Menu seemed pricey for run down condition of the place (think duck tape on the 70s booth. We did not stay. In fact, subway at the gas station was our best find.

It was a welcome option to either driving to Moab or getting chips at the gas station. We should have eaten in Moab.

About the only thing I can say positive about this experience was that the booth was fairly clean. I ordered the chicken fried steak, my wife fish and chips, and my son got a junior hamburger. With our meals, we got a salad bar, but found the lettuce wilted with old cheese and other old toppings. When the food came, my chicken fried steak was bland and lifeless, covered in congealed gravy. The corn on the cob was waterlogged. My wife's fish and chips were very overcooked, and came with ketchup. My son's burger was edible, but only by a five year old. On top of all this was the slow service and very expensive prices. If you're in Monticello and don't want to drive to Moab for dinner, go pretty much anywhere else.

Barely acceptable. The restaurant is poorly maintained and not very clean. I could let this go if the food were excellent, but it is not. My "Hot Hamburger" plate had a well prepared ground beef patty served open face on top of both buns with tasteless mashed potatoes all smothered in nondescript brown gravy. The two inch piece of corn on the cob (probably frozen) had been immersed for so long that it was waterlogged. The overall dining experience was comparable to an off day at the elementary school cafeteria. I do not believe I will be returning.
