Rita’s Italian Ice Menu

Being from the Philadelphia area, I grew up with Italian ice and Rita's is a favorite stop when I'm back there. I couldn't be happier to have them here, along with great cheesesteaks from the Downtown Philly. However, the staff needs to be educated better on the ways and language of us Easterners! No one back home orders an Italian ice; they call it water ice (yes, it sounds odd if you've never heard it) and when I instinctively ordered that, I got this blank look from the young girl behind the counter. The most popular flavor back home is mango, and they inexplicably didn't realize that and did not order enough and were out when I went there. And no strawberry, either, also a back-East favorite. The consistency of the Italian (water) ice is too thin and runny, and not at all authentic. It's meant to be scraped out with a spoon, more hard-packed. So some growing pains as they sort it out, and I'll be back.

I'm a "relocatee" from Maryland and when I found out, via a commercial, that Rita's was coming to the area I was absolutely tickled! The very next evening after seeing the commercial I was in their store, ordering quarts, yes QUARTS, of Italian ice. I must have been trying to make up for the summers without my coveted Rita's! As great as those little Hawaiian shaved ice huts are, perched in random parking lots around here (I'll still support local vendors), they don't come close to Rita's. Juicy Pear has to be my all time fav! If it's available I highly recommend it. Also, they have Swedish Fish flavor which is always a treat. And don't pass up the chance to get a Root Beer Gelato. Mango, Orange Mango and Georgia Peach are also my go to's if my all time fav isn't available. Rita's, i'm so glad you are here AND you are also open YEAR AROUND, unlike the one's back east! After a long day of snowboarding it'll definitely be one of my stops on the way home from the canyons!

This place is awesome. I had the Italian Ice with Custard and it was fantastic. I will return for sure.

Do you not understand how amazing it is to have a genuine Rita's here in Utah? I fell in love with this whole franchise back east, and now that it's here, I don't know how in the world I'll be able to keep my diet up.

Utah, get off your shaved ice and try this! Philadelphia native here, this is a cross between a slushy and shaved ice. I recommend the gelati in any flavor to your liking!

Stopped by today and it so happened to be the first day open. I've never been a huge Italian Ice guy and I found out why. Until now I hadn't found a place that does it right. The flavors were great and the staff friendly. I will definitely go back for some of their custard. Also, who could say no to Swedish Fish flavored Italian Ice? Not this guy.

My son loves the lemon flavored Italian ice. It has real chunks of lemon. They serve different flavors on a daily basis so I downloaded the app and I'm notified when our favorite flavor is available.

Another great dessert shop for the area. I love the custard and ice mixed together. Great concept. All of the flavor combinations make your taste buds happy. Thank you Rita.

Frozen ice? Good...... Creamy frozen custurd? Good.... Mix the two? Very Good....... Loved the mango ice and vanilla custurd combination. The mint chocolate ice and chocolate custard is also decent. Can't wait to go back and try other combinations!

Shocked. Surprised. Awed. Ect... I've never really experienced 'authentic' Italian ice before. But now that I have experienced Rita's, I'm a fan... No, an addict. The ices, and the custards are equally amazing on their own, but mixed together... Oh baby. I will be back. A lot.

Rita was a great addition to the Midvale area, and it was one of the first one opened in the valley. They definitely made all the traditional shaved ice places obsolete. This location used to be a cold stone before they moved further north. Parking was always plenty here being next to a Walmart. If you never visited a Rita before, Gelati is the best way to go with a multiple layer of custard ice cream and flavored ice. Blendini was alright if you are on the go, or just feeling lazy and want to drink from a straw only. The regular flavored ice was good for kids or eating light. The flavors changes regularly, and you usually do not know what they have until you get there. During their summer hour, they made a great after dinner hangout. Be sure to download their punch card app, it was actually pretty cool, and I wish all of the restaurants out there start adopting this digital punch card model.

Meh. Ok stuff. Nothing to write home about. Everything was just fine. The young lady serving us in her short shorts was a bit much. I don't mind causal clothes but lack of clothes is not okay... Nothing spectacular here!

I'm glad there is a Rita's water ice out here. Used to have this back in Philadelphia where there was one like every other block. Tell someone who doesn't know about this to try "water ice" and look at their reaction. Have them actually try a gelati and they will be hooked.

Mmm Italian ice tastes oh so nice... And add in some frozen custard and you're in a cold dessert paradise. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to try out this place, but I'm happy I finally did because I'm a fan. I'm pretty indecisive when presented with lots of different flavor options, but thankfully at Rita's you can sample the many different ice varieties before you pick. I settled on the strawberry colada with twisted vanilla and strawberry custard and it was delicious. I was more than satisfied and can't wait to return and try more of their items.

We visited The Pie for dinner and then popped right next door to this cute little ice cream shop. We brought our kids and the folks who helped us were so sweet to them. There's also a large selection of italian ice and ice cream. I got the blue cotton candy Italian ice and was not disappointed! Great for kids and adults alike!

Delicious dessert! If you want to try something different from the standard ice cream or frozen yogurt, this is a tasty experience! The combinations are endless. I ordered the Galati either Cookie Dough Ice and Chocolate Custard. So good if you have a chocolate craving. The staff was prompt and friendly, the place was clean, the custard and ice was great. It was overall an enjoyable experience. The price was average with any other specialty dessert store. About $3.5 for a regular size. For me, a regular size was a little much, next time I'd like to try to order a smaller size if I can.

Sweet, light, creamy, delicious happiness in my mouth. I love Rita's and it's fortunate (or unfortunate however you look at it) that's it's oh so close to my house. I've been here now half a dozen times and the Italian ice and frozen custard are consistently amazing. I know it's probably better yelpiness to try different things so that my review is not based on a single item but the Gelati - custard on the bottom and top, ice in the middle - with vanilla custard and mango ice is perfection. PERFECTION I tell you. My kids have been all over the place with their choices so I can tell you that the pear and apple are amazing and the candy flavored ones (swedish fish, starbursts) and the dulce de leche are extremely sweet. They have other offerings like a frozen custard sundae with unlimited toppings, cones, blended ice and custard. Which all sound great but when I go I just want vanilla and mango. The place it self is small with very limited seating inside and some tables outside. Last night the place was packed, standing room only and obviously too cold to eat frozen desserts outside. Ample parking. Rewards offered if you have a smart phone and can get their app. The service is a little less than stellar. Staffed (at least every time I've been there) completely by teenage girls. There always seems to be a back up when you get through picking your ice before you can pay. They also seem to be working out some kinks as one person will say yes we can honor that coupon and then the cashier will says no we can't. Not a big deal but a little annoying. Will it stop me from coming back? Never.

"It's just another Misto Monday, (whoa, whoa) wish it was Sunday..." That was my introduction to Rita's. It was a Monday a while back, and I had heard from a few folks that an Italian Ice place opened up in Midvale. Not being far from here, I decided to stop by where I found it was Misto Monday--buy one Misto, get one free. I immediately asked what a Misto was, and found out it's a mixture of Italian Ice and custard. So two kinds of yes in a cup. Yes, and yes. I ordered a mango and watched as the scooped and blended. What resulted was a delightfully smooth concoction that was gone embarrassingly quick. Get yourself a Misto. If you've never had Italian Ice, though, I'd say start with the straight up cup of the raw stuff. No custard, just pure frozen flavor. The custard was smooth, but you need to experience the punch in the mouth from the regular stuff before you go messing with it. I like this space (it's the old ColdStone, if you were wondering) so it's not massive but it will house a few small groups and during the summer there's a patio. The folks behind the counter were adorable and all smiles, and The Bangles are calling out to me even now... "It's just another Misto Monday! Cause that's my funday. My I don't have to runday..."

Love the Gelati desserts here. We just stopped in for one on our way home. The girl that was behind the counter was rather unpleasant, when my husband ordered, he asked her if what he had ordered was good. Her response "yeah, I said it was, that's my job" ... Um ok. Thank you for the service. I noticed how full she had made the cup and told her that we were needing them to go, probably my fault for not mentioning that before. So she grabbed a lid and literally shoved it on top of the custard pushing all of the excess out of the sides and not even securing the lid "our lids kind of suck" so now I'm home with one custard that is half on the bottom of my car and the other half in a bowl in my freezer. I will be back, but only because I like the product so much.

Normally, I am more of a straight ice cream kind of girl, but Rita's has opened up a whole new obsession: custard and Italian ice. I'm very much a dessert person, so naturally I was open to trying this place when my sis in law recommended it. She recommended a Gelati, a layered dessert of the two styles. I ordered a coconut-chocolate, and it was amazing!!! I'm honestly afraid to try any other Flavors because I'm not sure it gets better than that. The quality is great, and our whole group (who all ordered different flavors) was happy. I can totally see why this place has many locations. The only reason I didn't give a "5 Star" review for this place is that price - for the size of the Gelati's they are quite pricey. However, it doesn't stop me from visiting the place when we are in the mood for a celebratory dessert.

I was introduced to Rita's in Newport News, Virginia and after that first Blendini I was sold. I sought out Rita's as often as I was back east and then finally they built more locations out west closer to where I live. My favorite combination is the chocolate custard, cherry ice, and mini m&m's. I love the combo of the custard and ice.

The best. Period. I missed Ritas when I moved back from the east coast. There wasn't anything like it out here.....until now! Italian Ice is the best and nothing else compares!

If you like very smooth slurpees, like a slurpee that remains smooth and doesn't 'ice' up, this is your place. Not a huge fan of frozen custard or ice cream combined with italian ice. Better during the summer than the winter. But that's common sense, so why...never mind.

  • Shauna S.

I know it is crazy to wait until winter to try this Italian ice shop, but better late than never. And when a sick teenager who can't drive is craving frozen custard, you help out. I tried the root beer flavor which was great and hopefully has fewer calories than soda or a root beer float. I tasted the strawberry daiquiri ice before which has a zing to it. I ate the frozen treat in my car with the heater and seat warmer on high while wearing mittens and listening to Christmas songs. When the weather warms up, I will be back. For now, I will get hot chocolate.

At 9:00 pm on a Saturday night, Rita's was hopping! Never had a custard and Italian ice combo ... it works well and delicious! They also have a sugar free ice option and a light custard. I got the large SF mango and wild cherry (with cherry bits) with the light custard - bomb! Custard on the bottom, the 2 ice flavors with custard on top ... oh, yum! They are open until 11 pm!

I have to preface this with the fact that I tend to have a problem with textures. I think that this is a good idea and I appreciate all of the different flavors of Italian ice that are available (and you can sample them all if you wanted). I thought the combination of the ice with the custard on top was a little strange and I wouldn't get it again. I would get the Italian ice by itself though because the flavor was really good

What a fun dessert place. Rita's is different than any other frozen dessert I have had here in Utah. They have a fun environment that is open and colorful, as well as an outdoor patio. I loved the digital menu that they could update with the flavors of the day. Their main product is an Italian Ice. They had probably around 16 flavors when I went in and they offered samples of the flavors before you made your decision. Once you picked out your flavor or choice (mine for my first visit was the Georgia Peach!) you can also decide to have them add custard to the top or bottom. I went with the Italian Ice only this time around. The prices seemed reasonable for the size, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Don't forget to download the Rita's app where you can scan a QR code to earn free Italian Ice!

I'm in love with this ice cream/ Italian ice shop. I try to taste a different combo each time, and every one has been so delicious, I can't pick a favorite. A fun, friendly place to take the whole family to and get a yummy dessert.

Um, Italian ice and custard?! Yes please! You guys. You ever find a place that is so good you can't wait to tell everyone about it, but you're conflicted at the same time because you don't want the word to get out because you like being one of the few people who knows about this gem? Well, folks, that's Rita's. I happened on this place because it is practically in my backyard. I think I saw them on an episode of Good eats or Diners Drive ins, and Dives, or Man vs Food, or some other similar show. They were based back east, and I thought "hey that would be cool", but then resigned myself to knowing the odds of them coming to Utah were slim. They do Italian Ice. Don't ask me how or what makes it so amazing, just trust me when I say GO. NOW. Aside from a few staples they change their flavors every day so you're in for a treat-did I mention they SAMPLE so you can choose your favorite!? Well they do. MY favorite (because I know you're DYING to know) is the gelati-your favorite Ice coupled with thick, rich, creamy custard. Oh yeah. I love the lemon ice with the twist custard. You know you want one. If you're on the go get the Blendini, which is basically a Gelati that has been blended. Oh man, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Steph J., is it time for our date yet? Cause for reals. This needs to get in my belly!

I love Rita's! Before this store opened I hadn't had this delicious treat in 8 years! And it's just the way I remember it :) I love it so much I started working here! And workin here makes me love it even more. The owner is an amazing boss and super friendly and all my coworkers are awesome and friendly. It always makes a place better when employees love their job. If we don't have your fab flavor, sign up for cool alerts and get a text when it's made, also tell the workers to put it on our request board :) try a gelati, our custard is so creamy and yummy! My fav combo is cotton candy with vanilla custard!
