Nice early dinner on a rainy day in Kanab at this family style eatery. No waiting, good, friendly service. Had good Mushroom Swiss Burger with tasty fries and husband had French Dip on a yummy home baked hoagie roll and fries. Good apple pie a' la mode and chocolate cake for dessert! They serve breakfast all day too. Well worth a stop.

Eek!! Beware tourists! The food here sucks. I saw the reviews and thought "great a little diner with home made bread delish!" Um no. I got a veggie sandwhich and potato salad. Yuck that's hard to screw up and they did. My pops got an omelette which if you add anything like peppers or onion they add extra cha ching. So you are just getting the cheese and egg p.s. The server was super nice but forgot to check on us through out the meal we had to keep getting up to find her for of course... salt maybe pepper? Tabasco anything to give this food flavor please? Kanab is a little town so after this place we stuck with Wendy's, Subway and of course Mc Donald's. I wouldn't waste money on trying to hit a homerun on the food dept in this town.

Not impressed with the food We stayed one night in Kanab and choose here for dinner. We ordered the Country Fried Steak that was one of the worst I've had, including the gravy. The green beans tasted like they were in a pot of water all day. The service good and the only redeeming factor. I would most definitely try another place my next time through

Severely understaff. One waitress who was either overwhelmed or distracted. Food was bleh. Salad bar was a joke.

We arrived early so nobody there but U.S. Waitress was great. Food bordered on inedible. We had country fried steak and chicken Parmesan. Country fried steak came with the salad bar. While small, it was tasty; especially a bacon/pasta salad. Beyond that, all I can say is this was our one and only trip to this place.

We were not happy with our meals. We ordered a burger and fries and the chicken fried steak. The burger was average. The one plus was the sweet potato fries which were tasty. The chicken fried steak suffered from lack of basic seasoning. Amazing what a little salt and pepper can do. The gravy was lumpy and tasted like it came from a mix. The mashed potatoes were made from potato flakes. Ick. The mixed vegetables were from a can. The whole plate of food tasted like it came from a can. We won't be back.

Waitress beyond amazing! Food not so amazing, order chicken bbq plate decided to share they up charge you 3.99 to share because supposedly there going to add more food well plate came out it was 1 chicken breast smothered in bbq sauce a side of greasy zucchini and 1 baked potato. I am not sure what they added extra but I was charged 3.99 just to get handed an extra plate just so I could split the food myself. Others in my party order pasta and steak dishes so dissatisfying. THIS PLACE IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT THERE SERVING AT LEAST IF THERE FOOD WAS GOOD, BUT IT'S HORRIBLE

A dirty tag???? Not sure what she means by that review, but the first thing I noticed was it smells very nice in here. Not even the slightest smell of any kind. Anyways I loved my food and my boyfriends looked so yummy and he enjoyed it as well. Great atmosphere, the waitress was sweet and the cook came out to talk with us. Everything was amazing. We had a lovely experience, I recommend to all.

Go elsewhere.... Overpriced food that is HORRIBLE. At $14 a plate...it should at least be OK....this was garbage. This was my last resort since I tried 2 other places that were to busy to even have a seating list...I should have gone to McDonald's. Worst chicken fried steak I have ever tasted. Out of soup and mashed potatoes at 8pm and the "salad bar" was empty and what was there appeared to be old. The food that was served was cold and the staffed didn't seem to want to be there.

Looking at desert star it says $$$ that's not true. Its more $ not more than $$. The winter hours are 11am to 9 pm wed - mon. Closed on Tuesdays. Sandwiches run from $5 to $8.50. So give desert star cafe a try. You will like it.

The host/food server let us know when we walked in that the service may be a bit slow. It wasn't. The were very busy, but we were taken care of pretty promptly. The staff were very friendly and ensured drinks were refilled. I had a a whole grain vege sandwich, which was very good. The other dish ordered was the ground sirloin, and was very good, although the vegetables served with it were flavorless. There is also a salad bar, which was ok. Would return.

The sweetest host and servers! We were a big group and they made sure that we we're the most comfortable and accommodated. Excellent service, very helpful, and great fries (as well as everything else but fries are my favorite! Will definitely come back next time i'm in town.

My friend I ordered Santa Fe chicken. Included salad bar. We thought it was very good and the service was excellent. He needs more choices in the salad bar. Prices were reasonable.

Very outdated. Smelt like a dirty tag. We skipped food altogether and just had coffee.

Eh. Menu was very limited. Server was very friendly. Place was fairly clean but very dated. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Our table had chicken fried steak, pasta, and grilled cheese. None of us went away hungry but none of us were impressed or would go out of our way to go again.

Waited far too long to be seated. Ordered the soup and salad bar so waiting too long for our food wasn't an issue. Thought I would order dessert but since it's been 30 minutes since I finished my meal and the waiter hasn't checked on us for beverage refill or to ask us if we wanted anything else, let alone bring a bill, I guess we'll move on!

Went today with my fiance. We had the marina linguine and the alfredo linguine. They were both good, but the alfredo was awesome! Lots of garlic and definitely homemade. Yum! Salad bar didn't have many options to put on salad, but had yummy, unique, homemade options for other salads (than just lettuce and toppings). Our server was Diana and she was awesome. Can't wait to go back here!!

It was almost 9:00pm when we rolled into town. Most restaurants were closed, so we were delighted to learn that the Desert Star Cafe was open until 11:00pm! The owner, Tavia, provided us with excellent service. We went for comfort food, a traditional turkey meal with mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce - it hit the spot, along with the fresh, hot homemade bread which Tavia said is his special recipe. To top it off, we had homemade pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Altogether, a satisfying meal!

Oh how I wanted to like this place, but the food was just not good. The restaurant was fairly busy but the service was good. The waitress was actually great. I had pasta and the salad bar. First, the salad bar had the worst lettuce I've ever seen and very few of the other items looked fresh. The pasta was cooked okay but had no flavor. While I was very disappointed, it was clear that others dining had better experience. For that reason, and because of the great service, I'll give it another chance next time I'm in town.

Open until 11pm. Delicious food at a fair price. Was like an oasis when I was driving through town late at night.
