One of the greatest bars I've ever been in! Leslie greets you the moment you come in and the hospitality never stops. Anyone that knows me knows how much I love bars with character and this place does not disappoint. From the classic decorations on the wall to the signed dollar bills on the ceiling and the working cash register built back before 1901, there is so much to see and enjoy. I won't even go into how great the burgers are. I had the Shooting Star burger with a pint of the Shooting Star Amber Ale. That combo alone made it worth the drive out here. If you're a bar or burger enthusiast, you have to put the Shooting Star on your bucket list!!!

Sadly not great! Just not good food:( as remote as the location is and with best of state awards on the wall I had high expectations. Did not like the pinkish chicken and tasteless salad. Cute atmosphere, but if you are hungry eat almost anywhere else.

Dive Bar no doubt. Simple menu. Perceived attitude based on signs are blunt and rude, but he ladies were very kind. Had the Star Burger. Probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. Glad I came. Not sure if I would return.

I'm slightly disappointed by this establishment! We've been coming here for the last 4 years every ski trip and love it. However, since changing over w new owners they are quite rude. We went into the bar at 730pm grabbed a beer, waiting for a big party to leave to shoot some pool. While we're trying to shoot pool, the waitress/worker/cook informed us they close at 9pm, dropped my pool table stick and walks away....? Oddly, there was still more than 10 ppl in the bar...and they were ordering burgers/beers. I find it ironic that she didn't inform these people that we're ordering beers/burgers at 8:45 that they close in 15 minutes. I guess that's what's happens when you decide to give your establishment to a new owner comes new changes and unpleasant welcoming's! We will not be returning customers.

As I've mentioned in previous reviews of eateries and bars, I don't drink. Okay, that's not entirely true as I do drink beer -- as long as it comes from a root. Here, they serve that root beer with pie! Oh, heaven. You could say that I had a :pie and beer" day. Cash only establishment.

This place has the distinction of featuring the single rudest bartender I've ever encountered. Maybe it was just an off day, but my impression: if you're not local, you might want to head elsewhere.

The epitome of a dive bar with LOTS of character. Cash only bar that serves beer and burgers. Don't ask for anything else or to customize your order, because what you see on the menu is quite literally what you get. We asked for ketchup and the bartender gave us this crazy look and told us to get it from the kitchen. Decor is delightfully wacky and tacky. Stuffed St Bernard head, stuffed rear-wolf, old school jukebox, hundreds of bills tacked to the ceiling, and other miscellaneous stuff all over the walls including pictures, articles, pin collections, toilet seats, etc. Definitely check out the oldest bar in Utah and the only bar in the valley! There are 2 reasons to come to The Shooting Star Saloon; burgers and beer. If you want something else they you may be disappointed. The Star burger is famous for a reason. It's two patties, polish knackwurst cheese and sautéed opinions of pure heaven. I have a theory the really old griddles have a seasoning you can't replicate without decades of cooking and the Shooting Star has this in spades.

I was told by the resort I'm staying at that this place is a must see because of its historical value (oldest saloon in Utah). I walk through the door and said hello and wasn't greeted back. (Maybe I'm not a local that's why.) Overall the burger was big and ok.

If this were actually a bar I might frequent the place as I can walk from house but I don't. Why? 1. Its not a bar. They serve near beer. no real beer, no wine, no spirits. 2. lack luster service. The grumpy old guy well was grumpy and a downer. The other staff are more friendly. 3. As many others have said. What you see if what you get. don't ask for anything special. sometimes my guests want to visit for historical reasons but no one ever wants to go back.

First the bartender is very rude and doesn't like people who aren't locals. Then my brother forgot his ID but we hadn't planned on drinking there anyway, we just wanted burgers. He refused to let us even stay to order food and take it to go he told us we had to leave immediately. What kind of place does that? We went back another day and he wasn't there so things were nicer and the burgers are pretty good but his attitude really put me off and I'd recommend people avoid this place. It's not friendly.

When I'm done with Powder Mountain I come here! Place is AWESOME! Love the Moose and St. Bernard heads on the wall. Super warm friendly atmosphere and pitchers of beer. Make sure to get the Star Burger. It has two beef Patties with a Knockwurst in the middle. God I can't wait to go back next year!

I love the shooting star. my father in law and I make a point each holiday to go up, have a couple of beers and enjoy the history. All bars have personality. Some are good, some are bad. if you're looking for a homogenized, hoity toity bar that serves mixed spritzers and a jukebox that plays lady gaga, this aint your place. You should know before you go. Here's what it is: Its the oldest bar in Utah. hell, the barmaid claims that if you count continuously running, its the oldest bar in the west. I like the story, so I choose to believe it. Consider that its a tiny mormon town where a Mormon Prophet was born, and that it ran through prohibition..... Its got the original bar... thats part of the charm of the 1879 founded Shooting star. Walk inside and there is a stuffed st bernard, the world record holder for size at the time. There's other stuffed irreverent things in there as well. To me, a non mormon in mormon utah, the place has style. Add in that they serve guinness (a personal plus for me), and the Shooting star burger is awesome. Nope, not whole grain bun with hand picked lettuce and organic beef. Its just a damn good bar burger. With bratwurst on it. For a local bar Ive found the waitresses to be what they should be: Be friendly, and they'll fire friendliness right back at ya and even tell you some stories. yeah, I love the shooting star. For bars, all things considered its a 5 star place for me.

Ski, beer, and burgers. It doesn,t get any better than that. If you are looking for fluff and creature comforts you are at the wrong place. A true local dive bar that features beer, burgers, and lots of down to earth locals. The star burger ROCKS and the atmosphere is unforgettable. Stop in and experience it at leat once. The Shooting Star is rustic dive bar (a good thing) with good burgers and limited service. There is no wait staff so you decide what you want and go to the bar and order but this is spelled out at each table so it should not be a surprise. Why do you come here, the dive bar atmosphere, the old timey music on the juke box and the BURGERS. The burgers are very straight forward and tasty. As mentioned the Star Burger comes with beef patties and a somewhat spicy knockwurst, not something you find everyday.

So disappointing, was looking forward to returning after several years absence. In my opinion the Service is poor, menu disgustingly limited , and total attitude disgusting, Think the facility appears dirty and old, and has nothing but gone downhill over the years. Do they do health inspections in this backwoods area of utah? Oh well, will not be back.

Love this place! Our favorite thing is to go early morning fishing then stop in there for a pitcher and there famous burgers! But remember NO SUBTATUTIONS on your burger! They will not be happy if you ask for no onions or anything like that. Oh and have cash! Its cash only! Great place and don't forget to write your name on a dollar bill before you leave :)

Cheap beers, great decor, and one of the oldest bars in Utah. Started in the 1800's. If your around Huntsville it is worth the history lesson to step in for a cheap beer and burger. Bummed they did not have liquor but I appreciate the simplicity of this old time bar. Wish Utah had more like it. P.s. Its the only bar in the valley.

Not a fan. The burgers were alright - only about $6, but In and Out burgers are better, seriously. Having a polish sausage in it didn't make it much better. It only comes with potato chips (no fries available at this place....bummer! ) The place had a weird vibe. The workers weren't friendly.. there were some weird ppl there too. I would not go back.

This place has it all: a haunted jukebox, a stuffed Saint Bernard head on the wall, heart-stopping burgers, super-sweet bar staff, a cheap pool table, and pitchers of delicious beer. It only gets better if you combine a stop here with a hike down Ogden Canyon, a day sunbathing at Pineview Reservoir, or a day at Snowbasin Ski Resort. Seriously. If you can only visit one bar in all of Utah, make it the Shooting Star. This place is special, and not just because it's full of ghosts.

When traveling to Huntsville with some close friends of mine They recommended us to go eat at the Shooting Star Saloon. This place is pretty cool, odd taxidermy, and dollar bills struned across the ceiling. It has the basic burger fare, with cans of soda and cold beer on tap. It's a great little hangout good for locals and it offered the behemoth that's known as the "Shooting Star Burger". It's a double burger with a link of knockwurst on top, It was tasty and verrry messy. The has counter service and from what I know they DO NOT do any special requests. So if you don't want mustard on your burger, tough luck. Great for a one time meal and being that its an hour dive away I will not be going here often.

After hearing about the 'legendary' Shooting Star we decided to give it a try, and frankly, had an unpleasant experience there. A self-appointed 'mayor' of bar was rude to us, in front of the staff, (who found it amusing). Making fun of tourists in a ski-town must be loads of fun, especially if you never go anywhere but the corner stool of the oldest bar in Utah. After suffering through the clown mayor we choked down some lousy burgers with chips. Nothing special. Same beef-heart burgers you get at any hole in the wall. There's no table service and no condiments. No salsa, fries, salad or other 'exotic' food either. Skip the Shooting Star, it's nothing special.

You may think i'm nuts...but I almost gave the Shooting Star Saloon 4 stars. And it wasn't because I loved their food (which is limited to hamburgers). This place has beer and burgers..thats it. No fries ( chips ). My burger ( the house special ) was a monstrosity that included 2 patties and a polish sausage..yes meat on meat!....plus cheese, lettuce , tomato and grilled onions. My wife had the single version of the same burger. I have had better..maybe 2.5 stars. My wife said she really liked the"sausage in burger" concept and ate the whole thing with a silly smile on her face. She gave her's a 3 star. So why is this an ( almost ) 4 star place? Because it's OLD!...Really, Really OLD! This small bar has been in continuous operation for over 130 years. The exterior photo posted here does not do justice to ancient vibe of this place. The bar maid told me that they even stayed open during prohibition. The feds never came up into the mountains to bust them. Until the 1940's they also served whiskey ( they made their own ! )..how cool is that?. The Utah Alcohol Commission made them get a beer only licensee in the late forties so now its jut a beer bar. Did I mention this place is really old? A few tips: - Tie your horse or your Subaru out front. - Push open the stiff old wooden door and step back into the past. - Order your food and beer ( or pop) at the bar. - You can not have your burger "your way" ..so don't ask. - Don't bring kids ( 21 and over only ). - Bring cash ( no credit cards allowed ). - Be sure to check out the bathrooms..they are soooo old. (but its OK..they are clean :) - And last, but not least...enjoy setting right in the middle of a living piece of the American West.

Stop number 2 on today's motorcycle adventure: Shooting Star Saloon! I remember in '95, when I was but a child, they were kind and let my parents order 'to go', (you have to be 21+) so we could try the burgers after going to Huntsville to see the monks, and I have been saying forever now that I am long of age, i WILL venture back to Shooting Star, and today was the day! The bartender was very welcoming and excited to have us. This is a simple place, with a simple menu, with an appropriate note that they are not a restaurant, so no special orders. One of my friends is a vegetarian, and didn't want to be too complicated, so asked for a cheeseburger 'without the meat', essentially, sneakily getting a fancy grilled cheese. The bartender immediately asked if she was vegetarian, and informed her that they do have Boca patties. HOORAY! My friend was so excited, and it was such a nice gesture of the bartender to let these out of towners in on that insider secret! The rest of us got the Star burger... I don't even know what was on it besides AWESOMENESS, but it was something along the lines of double beef patty, cheese, sausage, sauerkrawt (i know, I butchered the spelling), lettuce, onions, pickles, mustard, ketchup, etc! Yes, they do have the st. bernard head mounted on the wall, but the sheer size is pretty impressive! It's cash only, which there is a big sign on the door stating so, but be sure to bring your cash, and come for a fun, but simple time... good burgers, beer (no liquor), and chips (no fries). OH, and bring a dollar bill to write something silly on to add to their ceiling!

I give 4 -stars for the Star burger and Dog head. I'm not sure what people are looking for when they come here. I think they're kind of stupid when they end up comparing the food (burger only) to In N Out because the burgers are entirely different for one thing and the whole atmosphere is another thing. First of all, it's bar / saloon. The thing that keeps this place going are the locals. Of course, they're gonna get a little annoyed by the tourists who come in maybe ONE TIME only. I'm not a local but I don't claim to know better than them or stick my nose up in the air. And this place will still stand for MORE years to come so the negative review by one person on here probably resulted from him being intimidated by his manli-less-ness. If you can get by the snobby attitude of the holier-than-thou "tourists" then one might see this place for what it's worth. It's a great place to hang after skiing. There's no sense or sensibility about it, it's just a saloon with great history. Currency on the ceiling. Squeaky wooden floors. Personally, I LOVE their burgers. Greasy, no frills. You want fries than go back to Crap In N Crap Out. It's a dive-y bar with dive-y food. But it has a LOT of history to it. A pitcher of beer and their burgs help too.

We had a bad experience there. The shooting star burger was decent, but the beer selection was limited. The main reason we had a bad experience was a really drunk local guy at the bar. He made rude comments every time we approached the bar and seemed to live for making out of town skiers uneasy. The situation started to escalate and we ended up leaving. I would definitely recommend avoiding this bar.

When you see a St. Bernard's head taxidermied on the wall and a sign next to it that states: "Our specialties are: BEER Burgers and Chips BEER, please do not ask for yogurt, fries, or salsa, we do not serve fancy things like that" you know you're in for a treat. The Star Burger is the star of the 6 item menu: 2 hamburger patties with a sliced polish knock wurst on top with all the fixin's (that are not substitutable or changeable...per the menu). It's a seat yourself, order at the counter dive bar with a pool table and a decent selection of local beers. Apparently, it's also the oldest bar West of the Mississippi with the same name. For a taste of the character of Weber County, I recommend checking it out!

A few years ago I went to Utah to visit some friends. We cruised out towards Snow Basin and all around the area and stumbled upon this cool little bar/grill place. I guess its been there forever. Anyhow, the food was good. I think i had a burger that was topped with like a sausage or a hotdog. i cant remember really. but i do remember it being really good. Who knew, hot dogs are now a topping for burgers! Id go back to this place when if im out that way again.
