Excellent Food! (and Service) We sure enjoy the Unique Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Soup! I think the Inside Out Grilled Cheese, and the Guacamole Bacon Grilled Cheese are our Favorites! The Buffalo Wings have a lot of flavorful. The environment has a lot of character (spunky decor), and the scenery if beautiful. We very much enjoyed the humming birds outside the window and the green green hills.

The best meal I've had in Utah, hands down. Wonderful food, relaxing space, friendly people. The bistro looks a little serial-killer-y from the outside, what with the mannequins, the weird signs, the various junk stuffed into the Conestoga wagon in the front yard. Press on, intrepid traveler. Walk down the gravel path to the outdoor counter on the side of the porch where you order from the jolly, bearded proprietor, choosing from 5 entrees and various flavors of cobbler. Take the little rock painted with your order number, sit on the shaded patio, and look out at the green lawn, the trees, the hummingbirds zipping overhead. (Try to get the table close to the hummingbird feeder if you can--the owner may come over later in the evening and explain that if you hold your finger below the little hole and stand very quiet and still, a hummingbird will come and brush against your finger while it sips the nectar.) Breathe deep. Drink your beverage out of its mason jar. Relax. We tried the pasta with vegetables and the pasta with ground elk/elk sausage. Each platter comes with a generous side salad with a mild tangy dressing and bread stuffed with sweet roasted cloves of garlic. The pasta that day was toothsome homemade pappardelle flecked with rosemary. The elk sauce was savory and extremely sop-up-able. The soft, bready cobbler comes out in an enormous hot slab with two full scoops of vanilla ice cream on top. It's easily enough for two people, but could be managed by one, given enough determination. The proprietors are chatty but not overbearing. I appreciated their friendliness but didn't feel pestered. Their ancient, well-behaved dog also toddled out to say hi before being shooed away from the diners. The atmosphere is convivial and unhurried. You feel less like a customer at a restaurant and more like a guest at a house party thrown by a couple who are friends of friends and also really good cooks. Note that entrees are priced at $15 for cash or $16 for credit, which is probably illegal, but whatever.

My favorite restaurant of our entire road trip! Quirky delights await you at Buffalo Bistro in Glendale, Utah. The restaurant is located in a bucolic setting overlooking a charming irrigated pasture. Ron, your proprietor and chef, is from Salt Lake City where he had owned a business. Tired of the growing metropolis, he found this charming back forty and started a compound, which includes the Buffalo Bistro restaurant. The wild boar ribs were meaty, tender, flavorful, and sweet. The elk spaghetti with sausage was herbed and spiced beautifully. My daughter devoured her pasta primavera. The food was cooked correctly, not over or underdone, and full of flavor. The salad was fresh greens with a lovely vinaigrette made by Ron. If you are nice, he may give you the recipe. Everything is served over pasta that is delicious - it tastes fresh. Desert for us included a blackberry and a peach cobbler, both delicious. The food was prepared with love and care and served with courtesy, humor and a good story or two. Looking forward to heading back to Glendale. Solid beer selection - looking forward to wine sometime :-). The food is not cuisine-y and was very affordable at $15 a plate. The entire package, Ron's humor and friendliness, the atmosphere, the location, and of course the food itself earns this restaurant 5 stars. Superfun and yummy place.

It pains me to give this place two stars, because I really wanted to like it. On atmosphere alone, I'd give it five stars easily. It's the only game in town when it comes to eating out in Glendale, so you get an interesting mix of people, from families to lone bikers and (I guess) Glendale locals. The chef/owner cooks everything to order outside on his grill (this can mean a loooong wait for your food, which I don't really mind, but be aware) and walks around to see how everyone's doing from time to time, and the lone waitress does her best to keep everyone happy with friendliness and jokes. So that's all great. But, alas, you can't eat atmosphere. I ordered the rib sampler (buffalo and boar ribs) and my dad had a half-chicken. I ate his dark meat and traded him some ribs, so we each got to sample everything. We agreed that the food was fine, but, with the exception of the boar ribs (which are really only a few bites each), nothing really outstanding. Which would be fine if it were affordable. But it's not. Not by a long shot. Hence the two stars. I will say that the pumpkin chocolate chip cobbler ala mode, made with fresh pumpkin from the owner's garden, was outstanding. Buffalo Bistro is a unique experience and a concept I really like, but the combination of just-decent food and high prices limits it to two stars for me.

The food is as good as the ambience The menu is small but it makes the choice for dinner an ease. There was four of us and each meal was great. We had cobblers for dessert. They were fresh and came with two scoops of ice cream.

Nothing kills a vacation like having to eat crappy hamburgers and pizza every night, yet that is what most food is like near the national parks. We stumbled across this gem on our way back to Zion from Bryce. The menu is small and not for picky eaters but delicious. I had fish with pasta, My daughter had grilled vegetables with pasta and my son had a ragu made with elk meat and sausage. For dessert we shared a homemade cobbler. We sat outside and enjoyed our meal overlooking a green meadow. It was very peaceful and the staff was very attentive and friendly.

My friends, it's doesn't get much more punk rock than this. Translation: When it comes to getting right down to the REAL DEAL of a type of food, that has been inspired by a way of life, the people at Buffalo Bistro DO NOT SCREW AROUND... You must have been real nice to one of the locals to even hear about it ;) Wild Boar Ribs, Buffalo Ribs and a host of other more exotic items are grilled to perfection. You just wont have anything else like it anywhere and you'll be talking for years about this strange restaurant set somewhere in a small town farm where the chef greets you where all of his grills are set up by the entrance and his dog is roaming around the outside deck. This place is nothing less than a true gem of Americana.

Absoutely fabulous dinner at Buffalo Bistro on a beautiful, warm summer night. We sat outside on the deck (where I think everyone else was), which has a beautiful view over fields in a valley. The deck is dog-friendly as long as your dog is OK with other dogs coming up to say "hi", as the owners pooch is wandering around. Dinner was great (there's a menu on their website) - I had a buffalo steak and my husband had the rib combo plate. It comes with veggies and potatoes. Everything was perfectly prepared, fresh, delicious. Plus our dog received a dish of water. Service was excellent, people were friendly, and I had a delicious micro-brew with dinner (First Amendment) which was perfect on the warm summer evening. It's about a 45 min drive from Kanab where we were staying, and it isn't cheap (about $30 for each of our plates), but it was definitely worth the trip/cost.

Now called Wild Boar Bistro, this is a real diamond in the rough. You don't quite know what you will be getting from looking at the weird and funky decor outside but let me tell you the food is wonderful and so is the service. Sit outside on the back patio if weather permits. On the day I went we were a party of three. We started with the rabbit-rattlesnake sausage which comes with a spicy mustard and some raw veggies and dip. Very mild tasting, excellent. I had an elk burger and a cup of tomato bisque. My companions had a bison burger and wild boar chili and an ultimate grilled cheese sandwich with guacamole as well as split pea soup. The menu has a nice selection of entrees, salads, and soups. For dessert we had mixed berry cobbler, peach cobbler, and hot chocolate cake with caramel sauce. All desserts came topped with ice cream. Very tasty food, friendly and professional service. Wild Boar Bistro is located on highway 89 between Bryce Canyon NP and Zion National Park.

Serendipity brought us to Buffalo Bistro (BB). We were meeting others (13 of us) for a day of hiking, and photography is the nearby Utah mountains (in this case, Willis Creek Slot Canyon). We used the BB as a muster point to meet up in the morning. Upon returning to Glendale at the dinner hour the group decided to try BB for dinner. Wow, are we happy we did. We get into that part of the country and I assure you WE WILL BE BACK! Everything on the plate was fantastic. The ambiance fun, casual and comfortable. The only thing better than the food, was the playful spirit that every employee there displays. What a great place. If you're in the area (and you will be, 3 million people a year are visiting the National Parks surrounding BB) do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. Wade

I heard about this place from one of my co-workers who recommended it when she heard that my husband and I were going to Zion National Park for our anniversary. She said she and her husband loved it so much, they ate there every night they were at Zion. And this place is about a 1 hr drive from the park! So if you're coming from Zion, you'll find this restaurant on the left side about 15 minutes after getting on the 89N. It's in the little town of Glendale. It's toward the end of the main part of town and is directly across from a building with a bunch of cars parked out in front. I'm not sure what that place is, but if you turn left, you'll see a not-so-big sign fro Buffalo Bistro. I kept track of where it was on the way highway so that we could go to it for dinner on the way back from Bryce Canyon. We arrived at about 6:30 pm on a Saturday night in early November. This is a very unique place with very unique food! You definitely have to be adventurous and have a sense of humor to come here. Everything about the food and decor is "interesting." :) You can check out my pictures of the place and the food we ordered. Appetizers - If you're daring and have a fair size appetite (or are with 1 or more other people), I say get the Combo Plate where you can sample all the appetizers. We regret not doing this, since I really wanted to try the Rocky Mountain Oysters (balls!) but was a bit chicken to do so at the time. Getting just 2 appetizers would add up to about the same price as the Combo Plate. Rabbit Rattlesnake Sausage - This was the most unusual sausage listed on the appetizer menu, and my husband was excited to order it. For $7, it's a bit pricey, but worth it if this is something you want to try. Honestly, it just taste like flavorful chicken with extra seasoning. It was good, but you get only one sausage about 6 inches long. Rib Combo - My husband and I love ribs, so we ordered this combo since it lets us try both wild boar and buffalo ribs. We ordered it for 2 people, which was exactly the right portion for us. The boar ribs were thin, but flavorful. The buffalo ribs were meaty and hearty. This is great if you want to try both. Wild Boar Ribs - The wild boar ribs were pretty thin and a slight bit burned along the edges (probably because they're so thin). The meat though was very tender and juicy, though there wasn't a whole lot of it. It did taste a bit sweeter than pork (like the menu description says), though less meaty. Buffalo Ribs - These were very meaty, juicy, and full of flavor. They taste like beef ribs, but better because they're juicier. My husband thought they were probably more marbled with fat than beef ribs. It was definitely not dry like beef ribs and was hearty. My husband and I both like these better. Fresh Fruit Cobbler Dessert - The fruit cobblers was our only choice for dessert. That night, they had raspberry-blueberry or banana chocolate chip as our options. We went ahead and tried the banana chocolate chip. Although the cobbler was good, it definitely wasn't what I expected. I guess I expected it to be like a pie rather than bread (or a bread-like big cookie). There was no pie crust with filling, but rather it tasted like banana bread with chocolate chips in it. I know other people really liked this, but I thought it was just okay. I would have preferred it to have a crunchy crust and chunky pieces of fruit. I'm not sure if the berry cobbler was more like this, though I saw it and it did look similar. Beer - My husband got a kick out of the fact that there was a beer called "Polygamy Porter" (which apparently is a Utah beer that you can buy in most gas stations or convenience stores). If you like porters, this one was really good. As my husband puts it, "It has a chocolate taste, but still tastes like beer." I guess some beers taste less like beer and more like chocolate or coffee. Anyway, we liked it a lot and I regret not buying some from the gas station to take home with us. Overall, the staff was friendly and had a sense of humor (which I would imagine you'd have to have working here). The inside of the bistro was fairly small (about 5 tables total that can seat 2 - 8 people). The ambiance was a bit...well, old style. There were fake animal heads hanging on the walls and old paintings of scenery and animals. The music was classic rock. It seemed like it was a mesh of Native American, mid-western, and Texas style decor. Interesting. :) I'd definitely go to this place again and would recommend it to anyone willing to try something different. If staying at Zion National Park or Bryce Canyon and plan on visiting the other park, then consider stopping by here for dinner. It's less than an hour outside of Zion, so it's a bit closer to Zion than to Bryce. I called there on two separate days, and they said they close at "about 7 or 8" pm. I think they close earlier if there's not many people, so make sure you check before you go.

There is simply not a whole of dining options between Bryce Canyon and Mt. Carmel. Buffalo Bistro is an intriguing choice because it boosts a rare menu -- wild boar ribs, elk burger, rocky mountain oysters, etc. instead of pizzas and sandwiches. Anyhow, the place is pretty hard to find. It is at the very north edge of Glendale. Restaurant is only open Thursday - Sunday. When I first saw the photos on Yelp, I thought I'd order the ribs combo. Sadly, they don't offer the extended menu anymore, so the rocky mountain oysters and rattlesnake sausages are gone. Only 5 items left on the menu - 1. wild boar ribs, 2. grilled veggies, 3. chicken, 4. elk burger, and 5. fish. Although a little disappointed at the selection, the food was still pretty awesome. My friend said their cobbler was the best he's ever had. The owner was very friendly and humourous, the kind who can tell you stories for hours. The restaurant also has a tiny gift shop. Cozy environment inside and outside, but our tasty meals attract a number of flies when sitting outdoor. Definitely worth dining!

CLOSED FOR GOOD! So sad we did not get to try the boar ribs or rattlesnake sausage. We were so looking forward to it. 1 star is only because it is now closed. Everyone else had great reviews. Seems like we missed it by a week or so.

I was driving from Massachusetts to California and happen to see this place on the right side of rt. 89 just before the Mt. Zion turn off. Once I saw the border collie sitting on the porch, smelt the out door cooking and saw that the log cabin style bungalow was available, I was hooked. Staying and eating here was a highlight of my trip. I only had the rattlesnake sausage, which was outstanding. I regret not having the Buffalo ribs which I ordered and waited for but never got. I will stop again on my next trip to try the ribs and to say hello to the talented and dedicated owner.

The food was great, atmosphere out of the wild west, relaxed atmosphere, owner and cook very sociable, we had buffalo and swine ribs for 2 $38" and it was tasty, meat fell off the bone, yummy roasted Vegs, and salad..the raspberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream is to die for, friend had the apple cobbler.. Friendly border collie and new Siamese cat roam around the place, decor is so interesting.. Relax on porch and enjoy a brew or wine, we will be back, you won't be disappointed, and never forget the place

Anyone who has been to Glendale Utah usually doesn't see this place. You may ask why??? Because there is a huge junk yard across the street. But none the less this place is excellent for a very small town. I suggest having the combo ribs for two I think tis around thirty bucks which is a bit pricey but delicious. If your are not up for ribs if you show up early before six they have buffalo burgers for around six bucks. The veggie noodles are delicous you can also add chicken to it. Micro brews are great here!!! Outside dining is fabalous during the hot summers. Try the cobbler while you are here also they have quite a few flavors just depends when you come in. Enjoy this place is great.

Only the brave eat here! Leave the attitude at home and come prepared to have a great time. The owner/bbq chef is friendly and full of character. He is every mans fun guy friend. The food was amazing and surprisingly had a professional gourmet touch. This guy knows what he is doing with meat and apparently balls! Hey, you have got to love a place that has a sign out front that reads "don't go in there these people are crazy" and an ad in flyer that says "the food is terrible but they keep coming back". We had the rattlesnake rabbit sausage and it was FANTASTIC and we also shared the buffalo and boar ribs for two. It was all great. We enjoyed a homemade cherry cobbler and we were not disappointed. I hesitate to share how great it is because as a hungry adventurer I would be afraid that I might have to wait to get a seat at this joint. PS the waitress introduced herself as "slave". OMG I was LMAO

We loved this place that was recommended to us by a local. It was exactly the one of a kind, local, quirky restaurant that we seek out when traveling. The casual and inviting atmosphere on a warm June evening was perfect. We sat on the deck and watched the hummingbirds. Views of the fields and hills were gorgeous as the sun set. I really liked my fresh hefe weissen beer and my husband said his amber ale tasted good. There was a really mellow and good singer singing old classics who we enjoyed listening to that made the surroundings even more relaxed and memorable. The owner was fun to talk with and has a great sense of humor. He takes orders behind a little bar area as you walk onto the deck. The food came in generous portions. My husband and I really enjoyed our mahi mahi and tilapia. Prices are straightforward. $15 for all entrees and $5 for the dessert. Next visit, I will order the wild boar ribs. My son liked the spicy chicken. All entrees are served with noodles. For dessert, the cobbler made from fresh fruit (pear the day we visited) was the perfect end to a great evening at the bistro. The restaurant is closed Monday through Wednesday! Be sure to make some time in your schedule to experience the bistro!

Loved this place! I had the tasty wild boar ribs with fabulous noodles and a side salad with tomatoes from the garden. My friend had the best fish tacos, also with veggies from the garden! Don't miss the homemade salsa!
