Love this place. We where lucky enough to get Tom as our waiter. We fast became friends and went hiking with him. The food was exceptional. Rib eye was perfect. Please do yourself a favor and dine here if in the area. Small local place.

I love this place, it is pretty much the only trick in town on off season but this is my second stop in I enjoyed it both times. We walked in and were greated right away. The owner/server is a upbeat friendly guy, they were packed when we got there he told us give me a minute to clean and i'll great you seated. Took us to our table and got us our drinks he said you wanted doubles right? ;) he brought us our drinks and they were strong I'll give him that. Out front there is a sign "best margaritas in town" I think probably the only margarita but yes it was good. When we got the bill we were not charged for doubles. My boyfriend got the steak and shrimp special. The steak was cooked perfectly for what he asked and the size of the meal was huge! I got a cheese burger again meat was cooked perfectly for what I ordered. Size of the burger was big. Great service, great food, happy girl.

We stopped in while on vacation. Had the marguaritas to start...a good start. Then had the smoked trout app, a nice filet that had great flavor. Next my wife had the trout dinner and I had the pulled pork burrito. Both were very very good and more than we could eat. The decor is interesting, and not to fancy to show up in what ever you have on.

While this isn't the fanciest place, nor do they have tons of food options, they have great basic items with a home cooked flavor. The atmosphere is friendly with local western decor. The night we stumbled upon this place, we met the very welcoming owner and there was a local guitar player setting the mood with live country tunes. We were very glad we stopped!

Good food, good service, good drinks. I had the BBQ chicken salad and was very impressed. My friend had a rare steak and it came out nice and rare. Would definitely return here.

RELIED 100% ON UNKNOWN TO ME YELPER'S REVIEWS BACKGROUND: Cowboy Blues opened in February of 2001, with a vision of creating Escalante's best eating experience. Located at the west end of town in an older building that had gone through many changes, it was the ideal setting for a western-style restaurant. Cowboy Blues is a friendly place where the entire family can enjoy great food, in a relaxing atmosphere at affordable prices. STATS: Sunday - Saturday 11:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Free Parking Family owned Live music EXPERIENCE: After a long hot and dirty day on a sandy trail slithering through the slot canyons of Coyote Gulch, me and The Crew needed tasty nourishment. With no direct connections on Yelp I had to rely 100% on the Yelp app. Civilization was quickly approaching and with limited cell service, time was of the essence, cuz when Leader of The Crew is hungry...Well, let's just say, he reminds me of Seymour Krelboyne's plant in Little Shop of Horrors, except Leader doesn't eat people and the only blood he likes is blood oozing from a thick juicy steak. Anywhoo, thank goodness for the Nearby feature, with a single click, bada bing bada boom, Cowboy Blues, met my criteria. Upon arrival the restaurant seemed closed, only one car in the dirt lot. I glanced in the window of the door and didn't see a single soul. Eh, tried to open the door and whada ya know, they were open. We waited mere moments for the staff to set up a table large enough to accommodate all of us. Filled with water glasses were brought to our table and never seemed to empty, they were that quick to replenish. Talk about perfect timing, only moments after our orders were taken did the place begin to fill up. PHEW!! This husband and wife establishment may not bear an extensive menu, there was something for everyone and their portions are anything but lean. We started out with a few appetizers; Chicken Wings, Chips & Salsa, and Jalapeno Poppers. While some ordered salad as their main course, others ordered Hamburgers with fries, steamed seasoned veggies came with the Coconut Shrimp, Baked Trout, Blackened Salmon, and Grilled Chicken the Quesadilla was an appetizer, thus no sides. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and their tummies did the happy dance when all was said and done. I ordered the Country Style BBQ Ribs which came boneless, not the way I like my ribs, but where they lack in the bones, they make for in tenderness and flavor. They were so tender, there was almost no reason to even chew. My side was the baked potato which only comes with butter, not chives or sour cream. Oy!!!! Yes, I like my baked potatoes with all the fixin's. While the wife did the cookin', the hubby helped out in the dining room, greeting patrons, filling water and beverage glasses, taking and delivering orders, as well as taking a few moments out to chat with his clientele. He spent quite a bit of time at our table, telling us the story of how Cowboy Blues came into being, as well as his other restaurant down the road. Did you think we were done? Nope, had to have dessert too. I convinced Father of The Crew that he needed to order the Brownie Sundae. Tee hee hee hee hee!!! OMGoodness!!! The brownie was near perfection, IMO. It was warm and moist on the inside, slight crispy on the edges. Served with the typical fixin's; vanilla ice cream, which was frozen, but quickly melting from the warmth of the brownie, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherry on top. We all had a chance to get a small bite or two. Apologies, I was so excited to try it, I forgot to take a pic until it was completely devoured. You will just have to try it for yourself.

Came down from a camping trip up Escalante and this was the first palce we ate. Great food and excellent service. The fried chicken I had was really good. Being from the south and eating fried chicken since I can remember sort of makes me an expert. The sweet potato fries were amazingly crispy. Not like the soggy limp sweet potato fries you usually get. Give this place a try.

One of the worse experiences I have ever had. First the small town cowboy service was over the top to the point he wouldn't leave us alone. Then he brought out our queso and chips, only to spill three margaritas in my lap and in our dip. Did he apologize? No. Did they bring us new, dry, crispy chips? No we had soggy chips. Did we get a new cheese dip? No we had to scoop out some ice cubes and mix the margarita in it so the taste was better than crappy. Did they comp anything? No. I was so upset I had to leave because if the small town cowboy routine came up to me again (after the worse service Ive ever had) I would have knocked him out. STAY AWAY FROM HERE! The food is crap, the drinks are worse, and the service is even worse!

It was good but just OK. We both had the trout. It was beautiful, served on a plank. Came with potatoes and fresh veggies and a great salad. He made an effort to have some fresh local stuff... a slice of pear, some good tomatoes and some good carrots. It was good, but the fish was baked and was a little dryer than the same fish at circle D. Their banner out front says they have the best Margarita's in town. That is easy to say since they are the only restaurant in town with a liquor license. ie they are the only Margarita's in town. Atmosphere is divey. owner/waiter/bartender (cook?) will chat you up. but still it is OK. certainly worth eating at but not gourmet. The menu looks like something my parents would like to eat.

great meal ( i got the trout on the plank, and it was filleted and cooked perfectly), good cold ale and great service. Cool little town and great places to hike and camp nearby.

After a 3-day backpacking excursion up through Death Hollow, and barely getting out of the Canyon before dark, and getting back to the Jeep in the dark, and not bathing for 3 days, this was the first real food we ate. Maybe it was because of the prior events in getting to the restaurant but that was the best damn Bacon Polish Sausage Cheeseburger I have ever had. Even after not having any real food for 3-days and being partially starving, I could barely finish it. Can I just say one thing I love about Utah? Fry Sauce! Ketchup and mayo mixed in a bottle. Now I don't have to look like a freak when I ask for a side of mayo to dip my fries in. Question to anyone who reads this and is familiar with the place: Who the hell is the dude dressed in the blue cowboy get-up named Billy Bob? Do they pay him to hang out there ala "Cowboy Blues". My and my buddy couldn't figure him out.

The food here was very okay. The waitress was a bit odd. The menu doesn't have a lot of options. I had the trout, which was very good. The potatoes that came alongside were mushy and not so good. My daughter and I both also had salads (hers was her main, because there were no other vegetarian options). Both of us had diarrhea the next day and uneasy stomachs (my son had no salad and felt fine). I wouldn't choose to come back here again, though the steaks sounded good (my son's hamburger was very okay). They do serve big 22 oz beers...
