Slot Canyons Inn

3680 W Hwy 12
Escalante, 84726
Reviews:
Slot Canyon Inn is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast located just five miles West of Escalante. The Inn was designed as a Bed and Breakfast from the ground up, and it shows! The architecture is wonderful, the rooms spacious and quiet, each designed as a separate suite. The Inn also includes a grill, available for dinner without reservation for guests, and the owner is friendly and helpful. If you are thinking of trying the place then I assume you know why you want to come here? Hiking, horseback riding, ATV trips, Bryce canon, Kodachrome canon, Petrified forest, slot canyons near Tropic, lakes, fishing, archaeology and beauty everywhere all within short driving distance. Should you wish to explore further afield, Zion national park is about 2.5 hours away -- close enough for an easy day trip. Why stay here instead of another B&B or a hotel? The home and site are gorgeous. You are located well back from Highway 12 in a serene pocket at the base of the hills. The summer sky and the skyline are amazing, the night sky and the stars well worth staying up for (each room has an outdoor deck). This is a very casual, family friendly place but sufficiently elegant and quiet to make a lovely and romantic getaway. You can stay as little as a day but that is such a waste with so much to do and see!
5 stars. The inn is located in a ranch about 5 miles before the town of Escalate. It is a little hard to get to after dark - so plan on coming up early or understand the intricacies of the directions. The rooms are spacious and well priced for what you get. The vistas all around are splendid. The place is family owned and operated - there is breakfast in the morning that is freshly prepared. They also operate a restaurant which has patio seating - we ate dinner there on the patio - the setting was amazing. They have cats, a dog, and a couple of horses - a bonus. 5 stars.
This is a special place. It brings people together. SCI is the only luxury inn that is centered of all the nearby attractions including Bryce Canyons; Hole in the Rock Road; and Burr Trail Road. Jennifer and her brother Jared were awesome hosts. They made us feel welcome and took great care of us. Jared knows the area pretty well. He gave us helpful directions and ideas as to where to go and what to see. It was our 1st trip to Escalante. Jennifer and Jared put in lot of effort each morning to make us homemade breakfasts. Everyday was a different. We definite got really spoiled. The restaurant North Creek Grill is conveniently located right next door...in the back yard. Adam cooked all the meals on the menu. He is an excellent cook. You must try the pizzas. They are just as good as the artisan pizzas in NYC. Mandy, our hostess, was warm and welcoming, and has a great sense of humor. FYI: BYOB. Its a beautiful house. Its spacious and each room has its own bathroom. Every room has its own decor. The house and the grounds are very well kept. Its also a working ranch so you get to see the horses; cows; sheep; and a goat. Not to mention the 3 cats and they do sneak up on you. So Beware.... One night we got back and it was pitch dark in the parking lot. One of the cats snuck up on me as I got out of the car....Auuuuuuhhhhh Yes, I screamed like a *beep*beep*beep* and it scared the *beep*beep*beep* out of me. Surprisingly, I did not wake up the dead or offend the other guests with my potty mouth...DOH! The other guests were warm and friendly. Must confess, I am not a morning person. So making chitchats and socializing in the morning (especially before my 1st cup of joe) is not my thing. You feel me? Yet, I was there chatting it up w/ different folks each morning, with my coffee mug *grin*. Met some real down to earth people and made some friends. We are still keeping in touch. SCI is like the Olive's Garden. They treat you like family. Cheers!

A family run and staffed business selling standard American fare, cooked well and passed through the serving hatch with a warm smile. Seating is outside and rustic, on eclectic picnic benches. You can pay double in all the other restaurants available and experience half the taste. I've tried all of the competition. I only bothered reviewing Nemo's. A liquor license would force me to petition yelp for that 6th star option, but this is Utah. Enjoy people watching and keep an eye out for the Desert Doctor. You can finish an ice cream in about three sightings of this bike riding local eccentric.
A true diamond in the rugged rough desert of Escalante! It takes a moment to get your food, but it is definitely worth every second! The burgers are grilled to perfection and the sweet potato crinkle fries are a delectable addition.
Some of my favorite burgers anywhere. Had one last year en route to Bryce Canyon and wanted to make a trip back for more Nemo's, but my trip companion wasn't feeling the detour. Luckily, this year I made it back on a 1.5 hour detour just for more Nemo's! I like the jalapeño jack burger with sweet potato fries and a triple berry malt.

This place houses a cafe along with another business for canyoneering. The coffee is good, the muffins they make on the premises - also very good. The service is very friendly and the atmosphere warm. The building I was told was built around 1860s and littered about the inside and outside are vintage bottles, rocks, petrified pieces of wood, and hiking gear. A good place to get a cup of coffee, burger, and a cool drink (smoothies). Despite it being very small and unnoticeable, passers seem to find it anyway. Their website: excursionsofescalante.co…

My friends and I ate here after backpacking the Escalante River from town to the Hwy 12 bridge with some snowy weather and again after coming out the Crack-In-The-Wall route of Coyote Gulch. The chicken enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce is incredible! I love their homemade tortilla chips and their homemade guacamole. Georgie came out and offered to add just received portabellas to our meals. The interior is beautiful and we had fun watching the cats run around outside.
@Burbalicious X, no $h!t Sherlock, this ain't downtown Chicago! It's a tiny town of Escalante, UT, pretty much one of the last places in the US for civilization to settle! And George's is awesome! Great food, great service, and charming! They make their o
We had a terrific meal after checking where to eat with four locals and all four metioned Georgie's. Mexican for both of us. Definitely homemade. We are used to a more spicy Mexican food. But the flavors were great and we were happy. Homemade cookies and other bakery goodies, too.

Love this place. We where lucky enough to get Tom as our waiter. We fast became friends and went hiking with him. The food was exceptional. Rib eye was perfect. Please do yourself a favor and dine here if in the area. Small local place.
I love this place, it is pretty much the only trick in town on off season but this is my second stop in I enjoyed it both times. We walked in and were greated right away. The owner/server is a upbeat friendly guy, they were packed when we got there he told us give me a minute to clean and i'll great you seated. Took us to our table and got us our drinks he said you wanted doubles right? ;) he brought us our drinks and they were strong I'll give him that. Out front there is a sign "best margaritas in town" I think probably the only margarita but yes it was good. When we got the bill we were not charged for doubles. My boyfriend got the steak and shrimp special. The steak was cooked perfectly for what he asked and the size of the meal was huge! I got a cheese burger again meat was cooked perfectly for what I ordered. Size of the burger was big. Great service, great food, happy girl.
We stopped in while on vacation. Had the marguaritas to start...a good start. Then had the smoked trout app, a nice filet that had great flavor. Next my wife had the trout dinner and I had the pulled pork burrito. Both were very very good and more than we could eat. The decor is interesting, and not to fancy to show up in what ever you have on.

Tom and his wife were great, rooms were large, nice and very clean. Breakfast and coffee was also good. The rooms are in separate buildings next to the main house, where you check in and breakfast is served avery morning. For me this was a pleasant surprise, since it is much more private. Came up from Bryce area taking Scenic Byway 12 all the way up to the 24. Tom said "You came from the Bryce direction? You ain't seen nothing yet." and boy was he right - the scenery was SPECTACULAR going NE out of Escalante. Tom also suggested a small side road to check out on the way, which ended up being the highlight of the entire trip. I won't mention it here - you can ask him if you go there. :-)
Good price for the service I receive. Tom really pay attention to run this place. Vincent
Be warned, he will not honor the 26% off coupon on yelp when you check in, which was one of the reasons we decided to stay there. Absolutely terrible experience. I could kick myself for not scouting out a better place to stay. First the guys quotes us a price, then when we get there, its a higher price, then tells us he will give us a break if we pay in cash but will not honor the coupon. Shady. I'll admit the place was clean, but there are all kinds of weird rules the guy has in place. We had backpacked out of a canyon the day we checked in and were hoping to be able to sleep in and catch some sleep, but had to wake up pretty early as the latest breakfast was served was 8:15am, which I think is a bit early. The breakfast was so awful the first day we skipped the second day and went next door for something, which was great. The coffee he served was pretty good. Also, this place clearly is not a BNB. Its some weird motel where the guy serves breakfast in his house. There are a few other things that didn't seem quite right. After we checked in, we went to grab dinner and left the a/c on in our room. When we returned, the a/c had mysteriously turned off, and it hadn't reached the optimum temp as we had to switch the thing back on. Somewhat odd considering this was our first day and there was no service needed to freshen the room or linens so I really don't appreciate someone in our room after we had checked in. Additionally, my husband is allergic to melon, something that happened to be served with the mediocre breakfast we had the first day. People that run a BNB should ask if someone has allergies if they are serving a set course. We had inquired the day before what was for breakfast the next day and got the reply, " I don't know, I haven't made it yet." Classy. The final thing, there was a scheduled power outage the night we checked in. We saw a note on Tom's counter when we checked, but didn't realize it was for that night and Tom didn't seem to think that was important to mention it to us. Glad we didn't rely on the room clock to wake us up. I guess Tom's been doing this for a while, but really it was a mediocre experience all around and I will take my time to look elsewhere for lodging, even it its the campground down the street with the RV's. At least in a tent I won't feel like I'm getting ripped off or taken advantage of.

Had a decent "western" burger here - BBQ and onion rings on it. The salad was great for being in the sticks. They had a nice selection of beer and wine. I wish we had gotten there earlier so we could hike Moss Canyon afterwards before it got dark.
