Great tacos al pastor and tostada plate. As authentic as Torreon Mexico. Very timely and inexpensive as well.

Fell in love with the tostada after going for the umpteenth time. Cheeper and a great lunch that's filling but not TOO filling.

3 words: handmade flour tortillas. Made in front of you. Seriously. Tiny little restaurant. The menu is posted on cute little sheets as you walk nearer to the counter. If you order a burrito, the man behind the counter grabs a ball of dough, rolls it out and throws it on his flat grill. As it puffs up and cooks, he takes the rest of your order. The corn tortillas taste fresh too, but they're not 'made' in front of you. $1 street tacos (so tasty!) $5 enchilada with rice and beans $7 quesadilla with rice and beans Definitely must visit. :)

Being from south Texas- I have quite a bit of Mexican food experience! Can't believe we found authentic Mexican Food in the middle of Utah! Everything was great! Nice people, fast service and good food!

The BEST Mexican food I have ever had, and I consider myself a connoisseur! You wouldn't expect it in this sleepy little town in the middle of nowhere Utah but.. IT'S AMAZING!! I always get the carne asana burrito. Portions are huge, ingredients are always fresh, and it's served with a smile from the nicest family you will ever meet. Great mom and pop place. Go here!!!

Great authentic mexican food in the middle of nowhere, Utah. If you're here and craving some mexican, this is the place to hit. Wish there was something like this near me; Chipotle is getting boring.

Not bad for Ephraim, but was a bit bland. I had the Barbacoa burrito with the hot salsa. The sauce was flavorful but the protein lacked seasoning. The actual location was so so, but that seldom influenced my ratings and isn't a factor in my giving it a 3. Portions were nice and the product seamed fresh.

The chicken enchilada and beef enchilada were very good. The tostada with beef was also good - and it is a good sized portion. The tortillas for the enchiladas were soft and tasty, but they aren't corn. My daughter has Celiac which means she can't eat flour tortillas. Typically enchiladas are made with corn - so keep that in mind when ordering - if you are avoiding gluten. We enjoyed this place so much yesterday that we are going back for dinner tonight. Highly recommended!

Malena cooks all the food and makes the desert by hand. This is quick and tasty Mexican food. My favorites- sweet pork burrito or tamales.

Malena's seems to be the small town version of Cafe Rio, only much better. My girlfriend is from Manti, so over the past couple of years she's been showing me the local food one at a time as we come down and visit family. Yesterdays dinner was Malena's. We came in and stopped at the menu. They've got a decent amount of choices, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, probably something else I don't remember...it all sounded good though. Then you pick your meat from a good variety of items. From trying others food I sampled the al pastor, carne asada, and chicken. All 3 were good, but the ordering goes carne asada, al pastor, chicken. I was having trouble deciding between a burrito and nachos, until I got to the front of the line. Someone in front of us had ordered nachos, and they looked perfect. These were nachos made right, a layer of rice, beans and some cheese on the bottom, followed by chips, cheese, meat and then topped off with more chips, cheese and meat. I knew that was what I needed to get. For some reason I asked the server what she recommended...I don't remember her exact words, but they were basically something along the lines of "I don't know what to tell you", which I didn't mind because I already knew I wanted the nachos. So I ordered them with al pastor, not having tasted any of the meats. We then took the food to the table and began eating. My nachos were fantastic. You know how sometimes you have nachos and a chip missed out on touching any cheese or other topping? You don't have that problem here. Every chip is covered in ample toppings. I will say that the beef on my girlfriends nachos had a little more flavor than my al pastor, but both meat choices are great and I don't think you can go wrong with either. Anyways, in a small town like Ephraim you don't have a lot of great choices. This is one of the greats. Stop by and try it out.

In all honesty, I was kind of disappointed. Everyone in the Ephraim/Manti area raved about Malena's, so I was really excited to try it. The restaurant itself was really cool-the decorations are awesome. Plus, it was very clean. The food was alright-there wasn't a whole lot of flavor to my meal, and it definitely lacked in spice. The service is good.

What a gem! With limited choices, this place was a such a treat. Fast service, delicious food, and good prices. Reminded me of something you would actually find in Mexico or Latin America. We got a burritos and 3 tacos...the sweet pork was my favorite. Closed on Sundays, but I can't wait to return.

Beef asada tacos :) everything's delicious here, but those tacos :D Incredible environment, family-owned, I feel welcomed everytime I eat here and more importantly the food never disappoints as far as quality and amount goes

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
