Vito's is incredible! This is quite the food truck success story! Amazing phillys to be had here! This guy is extremely fast, and knows how to make great food! Only thing you need to keep in mind is that Vito's is cash-only. There is an ATM available right up front however, so that is convenient :) Check this place out!!!

Excellent Philly cheese steak sandwich. I ordered a regular with Swiss cheese and no veggies, it was cooked fresh after ordering and was ready in less than five minutes. The meat was plentiful, tender, and well flavored with tasty seasonings. The bread they use has a very good chew, not to soft and not to hard and it is in perfect proportion to the meat. I ordered the 7 inch sandwich which was plenty of food, in the neighborhood of a pound. The sandwich came in a combo with chips and a drink for 8 bucks, heck of a deal for an awesome sandwich. The payment system at Vito's is interesting, you order, he tells you how much it is you put the money in a slot or basket and take your change. It is a very effective system if you are prepared, I had a Ten dollar bill that I threw it in the basket grabbed two bucks and the whole payment process took 2 seconds, can't beat that. Down side, you must have cash. I would rank the sandwich at Vito's very near the top or at top of all the Philly's I have had in Utah, I highly recommend it.

This place is awesome!! Such good food! It's very impressive that one guy does this all himself! I'd suggest switching it up a bit with more sauces or something, but who am I to say, I'm not from philly! This is a great pace!

Now this is a proper Philly Cheesesteak. Good quality meats, and bunches of it. Plentiful toppings (I counted 16 whole cloves of garlic on my Garlic Philly!) (pic). And a roll that is perfect in texture and taste. Several kinds of Philly's to suit your taste, and a few pasta dishes to complement the menu. And, I can pick between my two favorite kinds of chips; Miss Vickie's and my beloved Cheetos. Passionate owner, a comfortable atmosphere, a very fair price, and a trusting payment system. But Vito, dude, get some Cheez Whiz. Then, your restaurant will be complete. I hope Moochie doesn't find out I'm cheating on her.

I'm going bullet list to start, so you get the main points: * Sammiches. Big, mean, sloppy sammiches. * Also pasta, but sammiches are the most popular. * Meatball sammich, lots of Philly variants, Reuben. * CASH (or check) ONLY * Honor system payment; no cash register * One man show, this guy rocks it out Let me add a little flesh to those bones by saying this is like the lovechild of a food truck and a restaurant. You get all the small staff wonder of a truck, and the sketchy payment scene, the thing where you grab your own cup and your own chips, and they call out your order when it's done. But you also get the nice space, the tables to sit down (both indoor and outdoor seating), the facilities to fill your cup at the fountain, and you don't have to chase the thing down all the time. As for the food, I'm a fan. I got a mushroom Philly that had what can only be described as a boat load of mushrooms on top of a nice bun, melted cheese, and some peppers. I was tempted by the sausage sandwich, too, and there are a ton of Philly sandwiches there to keep you coming back. I've seen photos of the garlic cheesesteak with a bajillion cloves of roasted garlic on it. I also wanna give respect for having Barq's Red Cream Soda on the fountain. Who else has that? I mean, really. I love that stuff. Someone asked me how it tasted once, and the best answer I can give is that it tastes like red. Also, don't forget to pump a bunch of jalapeno sauce on your sub. Contrary to what the name suggests, there's zero spice level in it, but it definitely jazzes up your sandwich. Most of the sandwiches are around $8 for a 7" version. That gets you chips and a drink. It's worth it for the show, the excellent food notwithstanding. You get this one dude, with a full kitchen, who must prep a boat load of stuff before service starts, so he can grill, scoop, slather, and serve up his stuff super quick. What happens when he goes out of town? What happens when he's sick? I dunno... surely he has a staff. I love what's going on up here at Vito's. I wish I didn't live so far away, but it give me a good reason to come back and visit again. So many sandwiches to try.

GRILLED! GRILLLED! Philly cheesesteaks! Always delicious! moochies/grinders don't even come close! CASH or CHECK ONLY! HONOR SYSTEM people. The cook is busy cooking delicious sandwiches, and doesn't want to touch your dirty money. He will tell you the total and it's upon yourself to pay by putting it in the hole (20, 50,100 bills) or in the basket and take only what your change is suppose to be (basket: 1 & 5 bills). {See my pictures.} Yes he is only open during the lunch hour, it's his way of doing it, and he does it well. There's always a line 10-12 deep but he's a fast cook. Why is he only open for lunch you ask? I think he does well in a short period, or he has severe OCD. OR he's a retired millionaire that does this because one else makes a better cheesesteak than him, hmmmmmm? Mmmmkkkk.

I'm a tough critic and I don't easily give 5 stars. Vito deserves it though! When my friends told me they were taking me to an awesome cheese steak place, I had no idea. This surpassed any expectations I had. These are huge sandwiches. He isn't shy about piling stuff on. I got the Alfredo philly. I may never look at a philly the same again.

  • M B.

Let me break it down for you! Their food is good BUT (and this is a big but) they're almost never open, they only take cash and they almost always run out of food. It seems like, if you want to do well and make money, you have to actually be open and have enough product to serve to your customers...but what do I know?

    (2)
  • Dustin D.

Excellent food good atmosphere and friendly staff. Little mom and pop type place wish they didn't only except cash.

    (4)
  • Travis W.

Love this place. Bring cash, because that's all they take. They have about 10 different types of cheesesteaks--my favorite is the Alfredo.

I waited a year to eat again at this location. All year I kept thinking and salivating over the tasty food. Upon getting there I find out that not only were they sold out half an hour before closing but that they wouldn't be open again until after my departure. Left the restaurant feeling sad and hungry. Lesson learned and I'm left waiting another year. Next time I'll be sure to show up before the shop is open for the day. The food is still great and I still love it. I just wish that they didn't run out of food so often? Seems like I'm not the only one who has encountered this. Until then, I'd recommend trying this place out but do make it a habit to show up earlier.

This place was awesome!!! It was way good, and super fast! Defiantly coming back soon !

  • Jordan S.

The hours aren't great, but this place is amazing!! I've tried cheesesteaks other places, and while good, don't compare to Vito's. :) I just wish they were open later.. Or on the weekends.

  • Lena M.

It would be no understatement to say that he is the Philly King of the USA. I am from back east and have tried several cheesesteaks in the heart of Philly and they don't compare to Vito's. He has great prices and remembers all of his regular customers. Vito provides you with a personal small town experience and the very best food in Bountiful. I go at least 3 times a week and have never been disappointed. Don't miss out!

    (5)
  • Brenna D.

I had previously given Vito's a crappy review because of the hours. But having been there multiple times now, it's the kind of place that is so tasty, you don't mind making yourself available to accommodate their hours. It's delicious and watching Vito do everything himself is amazing. I see why he needs weekends off. Cash or Check only, but they have an ATM in the store.

    (4)
  • Beth Y.

Great phillys but it's only open during lunch time. Kinda reminds me of the Seinfeld soup nazi.

    (4)
  • Dave C.

Wow!! Serious grub at a great price. Pay attention to the weather as you will be dinning out.

    (5)
  • Travis N.

Delicious and messy. The hours are a little tricky so you can't count on them being open when you think they should be but the Philly's are amazing. Vito's is a gem.

  • Scott D.

It seems that I write reviews of the places that I really like. I have a lot of 4 stars and a few 5 stars, and this place belongs with the other 5's. I love cheesesteaks, LOVE THEM...and fortunately, we have some pretty good spots here in SLC where you can find really good ones. Vito's came highly recommended from a buddy of mine...he even muttered under his breath that "It's better than Moochies." "Borderline Blasphemy" I told him...but for him (who knows good food) to say that, I had to try it. First item: Place is CASH ONLY (You pay on the honor system, so don't be a putz) There is also an ATM if you need it. The place is super casual, clean and welcoming, and "Vito" himself was really cool and personable. It was crazy to see that he is the only cook, and cooks with lightning speed. I ordered the Italian Sausage Sandwich (Colosimo's Sausage - very nice) topped with grilled peppers and onions with melted provolone and gave half to my friend who went with me. HE got the Mushroom Philly - topped with an insane amount of mushrooms, onions and peppers. (Make sure to cover your sandwich in Vito's own Jalapeño Sauce...it is awesome. The portions are huge, and Vito DOES NOT skimp on the toppings. There is plenty of indoor seating and a nice couple spots outside right on Main St. to dine-out if you wish. So yes, I am giving Vito's 5 stars because I went in with HUGE expectations and had them not only met, but exceeded. I'm for sure going to go back as there are a lot of things on that menu that I am going to need to try. If you like a cheesesteak and haven't tried Vito's yet, you are really missing out.

Best philly in utah! Vito is a stud too. Bring cash is the only downside but nothing else negative to say. Make sure to get some jalapeno sauce for the sammy too

  • Kevin S.

Yes. The reviews are all true. Take your cash. Be on time. Enjoy!

Best Philly I've had in Utah yes I have had Moochies you gotta try Vito's if you like cheese steak sandos!!

  • Katie L.

Nice atmosphere, great service, tasty food, right size portion, reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

  • James P.

Wow, fantastic Philly!! I had the naked Mushroom Philly (no Onions and Peppers) and added the roasted Garlic (can you ever have too much!) it was awesome!! The meat was fresh! They even have the same Jalapeño sauce that Moochies has (For me this makes the whole sandwich, a must have!! If you love Moochies, you'll really love Vito's - if you haven't tried, your missing out! Get there early to avoid the lines, and cash only. This will be a weekly stop!

  • Robert Y.

My family and I decided to try Vito's last night. Philly King of Bountiful indeed! I love the casual, clean atmosphere and sidewalk tables. Prices are reasonable. I ordered the Philly Bleu Cheese, which was terrific. Meat and veggies were juicy, grilled just right. My wife and kids ordered meatball sandwiches, which were also very good. He sold out of pasta before we arrived around 6:00pm They accept cash only, which is inconvenient but tolerable. We're definitely fans and will be back many times...with cash. Bountiful has a new destination!

    (4)
  • Doug S.

I'll put it this way, it's not uncommon for a huge number of people from my work to go there on any weekday, especially Wednesday. If you want to avoid our crowd, go another day. Cult-like following. Beyond that I'll say it's absolutely delicious.

  • Lea H.

Finally! The search for a delicious Philly north of SLC is over. This place is absolutely delicious. Great flavor, big servings, friendly staff, and very clean. Looks like brand new renovation with old-time flavor. Can't wait to go back.

  • Leigh S.

Haven't been back in a while. The sandwiches are still as yummy as I remember! Vito is such a good place for lunch & he still uses the "honor" system! Good place, good guy! I would definitely recommend this place. Just remember to bring cash, he doesn't accept CC.

    (4)
  • Bam W.

Wow - Delish !! Cheesesteak is heavenly. He needs a cashier though.

    (4)
  • Russ A.

Hands down the best Philly sub in town - or anywhere for that matter. Do yourself a favor and get one NOW! I ordered the jalapeno Philly and absolutely loved it. It's a cash only establishment with an ATM inside. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it's only open on weekdays - no weekend eats here - and the hours of operation are a little tricky. As of writing this (10/21/13) the hours are 11:00 to 2:00 for lunch (show up close to 2:00 and he could run out of sandwiches) and then 4:00 to 7:00 for dinner. You won't be disappointed!

    (4)
  • Brad M.

Vito's is my new favorite place for lunch! The cheesesteaks are fantastic! I have not tried any of his pasta dishes or other sandwiches because every time I go there, I can't bear to leave without a mouth-watering cheesesteak sandwich. Remember to take cash or a check, as Vito's does not take credit/debit cards.

  • Connie C.

I don't know of anything better than a big classic philly dripping in cheese made by an italian himself! It's a one man shop, and it's AMAZING, so don't expect to not wait on line unless you get there at 11am. He is only open for lunch and usually sells out especially on nice weather days. The classic is only $6-7 and includes chips and a drink. Can we say AWESOME one more time? LOVE, LOVE, and LOVE IT!

    (5)
  • Krista B.

You will not find a better Philly in this state! The Alfredo Philly is simply amazing! The Garlic Philly is simply amazing! Every Philly is simply amazing! He is only open for lunch which makes it hard for us full-time workers but I don't blame him for not wanting to get burned out. He is a one-man show. LOVE LOVE Vitos!

Bountiful's Moochies Meatballs...but better For a long time, my favorite place for a philly was Moochies, but Vito's has unseated the champion. Should do a name change to reflect that, as I had no idea what kind of a place it was for a long time. The ingredients taste fresh and high quality. Moochies has the "atomic" version which includes feta cheese and jalepeno which is very good, so that may be a reason for me to go back to Moochies. But the meatball at Vito's is good--they just need to think about making feta cheese an option. I also like that they sell the jalepeno sauce in bottles, as it is VERY good. Moochies is the dive restaurant that is more of a greasy experience. Vito's is more upscale and fresh-tasting. It's not quite the difference between a burrito from Beto's and Chipotle, but there is a difference. The bread at Vito's is better, not as dense and chewy. There are, however, many more options for the philly at Vito's. I had the mushroom philly which came with a lot of mushrooms (pictured below). I forgot to ask for the jalapeño sauce on my takeout order :( so it wasn't an explosion of flavor. Definitely needs the jalapeño sauce, or perhaps the Alfredo philly would've been good. Without a sauce on it, there isn't enough flavor to it (also true of the Moochies philly). Perhaps more cheese would help. There was a cream cheese philly that sounds interesting. Meat tastes better than Moochies. $12.50 (or $13.50, depending on which type) for a philly seems a bit pricey for a sandwich, but it's a lot of food. Payment: it's an odd system. No credit cards, just cash. And he has jars if money and quarters and two holes in the counter to drop in larger bills. At first I thought it was a tip jar. You make your own change. He doesn't touch the money. Only reason I could imagine for that is he doesn't want to get his hands dirty from handling cash. It looks like a one-man show where he does all the cooking. I guess that makes sense for a one man operation. But it's the first time I've ever seen anything like that.

  • Trevor P.

Now that's a Philly cheese steak! This place rocks! The sandwiches are bigger than any sane person should dare eat, and twice as wide as my mouth. And the prices are great.

  • Bailey M.

Great Philly in Utah. I'm from back east and this brought me home. Huge portions, great meat, friendly staff. Definitely coming here in the future when my family is in town. Oh, the cheesecake is pretty dang good, too. Definitely homemade.

  • Jordan H.

Favorite place to eat! Best philly I've ever had! Vito is like Walter White in breaking bad! He's the only one that can make the blue stuff or the sandwiches in this case. This is good because you know he puts his heart and soul into every sandwich but his schedule is all over the place and he closes a lot! I go there and he's closed and he doesn't have anyone else really helping him. Highly recommend to go there. Best bet is to go during lunch on a week day.

  • Jason S.

While a part of me longs for the old days of the food truck, Vito's still maintains its delicious menu and reputation of "The Philly King of Bountiful." While the Reuben, Meatball and Italian Sausage are all good, it's tough to beat the classic. The pasta looks good too, but I have a tough time passing up a good freshly cooked delicious Philly.

    (5)
  • Michael F.

Heard about Vito's, but it's a little out of the way for me. So on my day off (Mon), on my way to golf in N Ogden, I swung by Vito's for a cheesesteak. The one man show is what everyone says. Vito takes his business seriously, quickly preparing freshly made sandwiches, to order. Best Philly I've had since I moved here 15 years ago. Meat, onions, mushrooms peppers, just right on a very good roll. I had mine with spaghetti sauce as a treat. With a soda and and chips for a very reasonable price. Cash only, with his unique honor system, gives Vito's a character not found often these days. Long live the anti-franchise!

  • Jacob B.

Amazing place with an amazing story behind it! My dad used to take me to his sandwich truck growing up. Went there first time in 7 yrs and nothing had changed about the good food, friendly service, and great energy at the spot! Loved it plan on going back.

  • Sarah R.

It's ok! But try Rickles by Barnes bank in Kaysville! I like it better! My favorite is the Alfredo Philly.

  • Nichole C.

Great Philly's if you're looking for a classic or variation of. More than decent portion sizes and great service. It's a friendly, hopping place! Notes: cash only, open very specific hours, can be crazy busy. Worth the wait, though!

  • Brent F.

Great Philly's and meatballs. This place is clean decorated nice and the food is excellent. Portions are great and value for quality is outstanding. Do bring cash and the hours are currently 11-2pm well worth a trip to Bountiful.

  • Alec T.

    That is a delicious sandwich.

  • Roy C.

Had the 7" Deluxe Philly Cheesesteak with sautéed onions and mushroom. A bit pricey but well worth it. Once you get to the counter, service is quick, but go early to beat the lunch rush. Cash only.

  • Jeff B.

Great Philly! Live their sandwiches. The only thing I could ever complain about is their hours. I wish they were open more. So I could eat there for dinner after work. Great service. Fast and hot. And their special sauce is simply amazing! You will not be disappointed if you go here.

    (5)
  • Jonathan B.

Vitos is the best philly. Only place that can compare is the on philly place in clearfield. I also love the honor system, cash only and you make your own change!

  • Brandon B.

We have been going to Vito's since he was running out of a trailer. His sandwiches are great! My favorite is the sausage sandwich. I just wish he took credit cards.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
