Kan Kun Mexican Food Menu

Thin chips, watery salsa, tiny portion of taco salad with frozen cheese chunks which use to be shredded. Shredded beef tastes plain. One tiny tea spoon of sour cream and guacamole on the salad. Waitress brought us the bill when we were not even half thru the entree. Two $$ sign! Taco Bell is even better than the food here. There are many fast food nearby, any traveller looking for a quick bite should go straight to fast food.

Like someone else Yelped, "It was better than expected" rings true. The food is decent not roadside fast food and not fine dining either. Prices are good, food comes out at a fairly quick pace and they have beer and margaritas. Service is friendly and effecient. It's a good place to stop if you want a nice break from the cramped car.

Fresh food, friendly service and reasonable prices. Try the pinto beans and not the refried beans for a change.

Dad and I are roadtripping through the Southwest, and we stopped in Beaver for the night. Based on Yelp reviews, we decided to go to Kan Kun, which was conveniently close to our hotel. Dad thought his food was a bit too greasy, and my taco salad was watery. However, I thought my meal was excellent, and the women that were serving were really nice. It's a cool place to stop for some Mexican food. I would go again.

Stopped by for a quick lunch on out way back from Bryce Canyon. The place looks a little run down from the outside but clean inside. Right next to gas station. Foods were alright...nothing impressive. I got the combo burrito with chile rojo and it was mediocre. My friend got their chicken enchiladas and it was alright. Staff were friendly. Overall a decent place if your looking for something other than fast foods.

Our family has been stopping here once or twice a year on our trip from St.George Utah to Salt Lake City or on the way back. This year they have seriously gone downhill; worse experience ever won't be stopping again until they fix their chips and salsa policy. When you stop at a Mexican restraunt you expect chips and salsa and as of now they have become extremely chincy. They only want to give 1 bowl of chips and salsa and 1 refill irregardless of table size. Table of 1.. 2 bowls.. Table of 2.. 2 bowls... Table of 6? 2 bowls... Not only is this silly it ruins everyone experience. So instead of making your servers enforce a ridiculous policy and ruin everyone's experience and a family tradition increase your food prices... Tip: split your party into 6 individual tables ask for your refill and then regroup and share.. 2 bowls is now 12... And watch out for them being slow on the chips and salsa so they can bring your meal and not have to give you any..

First of all, I love hole-in-the-wall Mexican food places, usually the dingier, the better. So I was excited to try "Kan Kun" and I was not disappointed. The salsa and chips were good, they tried to sneak the extra guac on me but I caught them. All in all it had the feeling of North Korea, a little creepy but you can't quite put your finger on it. So we started by ordering the chimichanga and enchilada combos. My plate, the chimichanga consisted of a deep fried piece of cardboard with something that resembled canned meat flattened like a pop tart. The garnishing on my cardboard pop tart chimichanga was half a teaspoon of sour cream and a spoon of guac at either end with lunchable lettuce sprinkled on top. The beans resembled something out of a soup kitchen and their rice reminded me more of grits than Mexican style rice. I decided to liven up the meal by dumping the entire bowl of salsa that came with the free chips. So if you're looking for an intriguing culinary experience that Kim Jung Ill would be proud of look no further than these magicians of Mexican masterpieces

As I'm riding in a car on northbound I-15 headed home, I am thinking about horrible food I've had in the past. There was one time I bit into an apple to find it had rotted in the middle, and honestly... After eating here that seems like a fond memory. I work in restaurants and I've never written a bad yelp review, but the rock I am trying to digest an the look of utter pain and despair on my girlfriends face makes feel like this is more of a public service than anything. If you could have warned Pearl Harbor a fleet of Japanese carriers was headed that way wouldn't you? Consider yourself warned. I got two tacos, beans and rice. Even if I got passed the stale shells, the ghost white lettuce, and the mush of tasteless mucus that almost resemble tomatoes, the beef would have killed it. Ever wonder what it would be like to eat a can of alpo that was mad at you? I know. The margarita was so close to pure sugar that I'm craving insulin like Tony Montana craves Bolivian marching powder. My girl and I almost got mad at each other as we were leaving, but quickly realized we were not the enemy... The enemy was that evil food like substance that we let into our bodies. If my tacos and my margarita got into a fight, I would root for the Taliban. Honestly though had no problems with the service, everything came out as we ordered. Problem is we thought we thought we were walking into a Mexican joint, not a slaughter shop for race horse byproducts.

We stopped here after visiting Phoenix. We were in a hurry, so the first question was how fast we could be served. The waitress said they were very fast and with only about 6 people in the place we decided to stay. After we sat down, looked at the menu ordered and then waited some more, some chips were brought out. About 10 minutes I'd guess. The waitress then went on to explain that no matter how many people you had in your party, you only got one small basket of tortilla chips and one free refill. Since we had 7 people she had brought out a small basket for each of our two tables and said that was all we got. "This is the owner's decision..." and she couldn't bring more without charging for them. Another waitress offered more chips, but ours countermanded that and said no. The food took another 15 minutes to arrive. Or I should say most did. Mine was 10 minutes after everyone else's. Remember we asked for speed so we could get back on the road. My son liked the soup and the chips and salsa were ok. We had a variety of other items which were quite disappointing. Only the chimichanga managed to get a better than mediocre review. So, if you want service quickly, good Mexican food at a decent price in Beaver, find a Taco Bell. It would be better than this place. Oh, and if you like chips and salsa make sure to split you party up into smaller groups. That way they might get you enough. I suppose that seeing they couldn't spell Cancun should have been a tipoff.

Very disappointing food. Over priced mediocre food. I had a tostado. Small soggy tortilla. Very little meat, beans and cheese were like a small garnish. Large chunks of lettuce, maybe a tablespoon of chopped tomato. My hubby's was ok, but the seasoning was nil. He had the chimichanga. One nice item, The extra guacamole was very good. The service was good. We will not be back. We really wanted to like it.

Service is incredibly slow. Server forgot multiple things we ordered including my wife's beverage. The food was decent (fajitas) but nothing special to write home about and it certainly didn't make up for the long wait times, terrible service, etc. I would not recommend this place, nor do I plan on returning. It would be one star but I added an extra for the food being decent.

We actually made it a point to drive here for lunch (ok Cedar City was the original plan). We ordered shrimp fajitas and an enchilada combo. No sizzling platter for the fajitas? Overall the fajitas were average, slightly sweet with no spice at all. The enchiladas were average as well, again no spice or heat to speak of. The guacamole was great, fresh with tomatoes and cilantro. Service was decent, nothing special. At least one notch above Taco Bell.

This is one of those "Mexican" places that you won't find a Mexican eating at. No burning your mouth here. They arn't even good at it, but charge you well for pulling off the highway.

We stop here every time we are heading south. As native Californians, we grew up with great Mexican food and have missed it in Utah. This place has amazing food, great chips, tasty salsa...and, now--a full liquor license! The owner has a long history with some great restaurants in CA and has put together a list of wines that compliment Mexican food. He also has a few scotch blends, and while the Mr. would love a single malt, he was quite happy with having the option of a JW Black. Today I had the shrimp diablo--but with chicken. Spicy and delish! Across the table was an enchiladas verde that got two thumbs up. The people who work here are cheerful and fun. All in all--this is a great stop ( or even a destination on a slow Saturday (if I had one!)).

Mums brought me back a bit of churro andmmm-mmmmm! She said she was sooo glad they finally checked this place out because it was better than they thought it woild be! If you're passing by and want some great mexican food, pop on in. There's nothing else besides fast food for hours in each direction and they have TRUCK PARKING! Just do it, you won't be disappointed.

The food was delicious, fresh, and homemade recipes. The pork tamale and chile rellano were amazing.

The food was better than I expected ... for a place next to a gas station in Beaver.

I'm not your average diner! It's just A-OK! Great is they have Beer in UTAH! Food was just average Tex-Mex quality, lacking flavor or spices, refried beans tasted out of a can with no love added, which was a huge suprise as everyone there was of Hispanic descent. Great service and waiter was smiling and nice! Might try somewhere else if throught there again!

Don't let if fool you by being a little place right off of highway 15. We stopped really early for dinner since we missed lunch so it wasn't busy but had excellent service and very nice and friendly staff! Everything is absolutely homemade and very fresh!!! Even the regular taco shell is homemade and crispy and awesome! Both of us had a combo plate with chicken enchiladas and which ever your preference, the red sauce or verde sauce, both are perfect. The refried beans and rice are also great and homemade. Marked it on my bookmarks and this is my first ever post on Yelp! I use it all the time so figured it was turn to share! Try it if you are out in the middle of nowhere sometime - you wont regret it.

We ordered three imported beers that were listed as menu price as $3.79. Once we got the check they charged us $6 a piece. No where on the menu did it say our beer was anymore than $3. The manager came out an explained it was more alcohol content it costs more to serve this beer. I told him thts fine but its not what his menu says and that this is false advertisement. As a server for six years this is unexceptible. His menu listed it imported beers as $3.79 and I told him that's what I expect to pay. He told us "people like you" should not come to this place and that "people like you" have never come here before. I'm sorry if the people that come in there don't read the menu prices but I am always aware of what I'm ordering. On top of that we got the wrong meal that had to be taken back to be fixed. Stay far away from this place. If a manager disrespects its customers, how do you think he treats his employees? I have never EVER been so disappointed with a restaurant in my life. I will never ever go back. Poor management and horrible service.

Beaver Utah Tiff thought the chili rejano was on the better end. We shared the asada combo which included the chili rejano and had plenty if food. It was great. The side order of guacamole was worth it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
