I like Dickey's... despite my one star rating I really do like Dickey's as a whole. However, this particular Dickey's needs a major overhaul on many levels. To summarize the following, if you want Dickey's you're better off going to the other location in town (53rd & Slide). Unlike the other Dickey's in town, you do not serve yourself sides. What this means at the better Dickey's (again, 53rd & Slide) is that you can give yourself 4lbs of onion tanglers or two gallons of potatoe salad if you like, but at this location it means you get a few burnt pieces that they cooked an hour or so earlier. That's issue number one, and while not a deal breaker it is still sad when you have your heart set on a particular side. The second flaw (again not major but is damn annoying) is that they have large west facing windows. If you plan to eat dinner here it will almost always be hotter inside then it is outside. The line to order forces you start against these windows so if it's warm outside you'll suffer during the wait. The last two times I've been at this location -- which will be my last two times to eat here -- they have been out of a number of meat selections. This past visit was 5:45 on a Saturday evening. How can you be out of everything but Turkey and Pork well before your dinner rush? Same goes for sides, out of the four total sides we ordered they had only one and as a result we had to wait for three to get cooked. I believe the last issue directly relates to my next issue, the staff and manager are rude as hell and don't seem too concerned with the customers. For example, the lady ringing our order up got frustrated with me because she couldn't remember our order... she couldn't remember our order because they had to make all the sides after we ordered so she was basically staring at a 60% meal in front of here. We talked here through the order (for two people) THREE times before I finally wrote it down. The manager lady heard/saw her helpless employee struggle to ring up our order, saw me write it down, then walked over two steps and showed her how to ring it up while smirking at me for being frustrated with the situation. I had to ask twice for the complimentary rolls and then had to produce a receipt to show that I had ordered two meals despite the fact that we were the only patrons in the restaurant. 2 of the 3 BBQ sauces were out, ice tea wasn't made, and no ice gave the impression that don't really want to stay in business at this location. Again, I love Dickey's... just not this Dickey's. Don't take your chances, as a veteran of 6 or 7 various Dickey's locations in TX I'd suggest you head elsewhere.

I'm guessing this is the new Dickey's in town because the buildings don't even show on Google maps. That said, it's obvious that the place has a very new and clean look. I've been there twice now and thought the food was so delish and service so good that the place needed a great review. I've had my fair share of real barbecue in the southeast US and will honestly have to say Dickey's pulled pork and barbecue sauce isn't the best around but the variety of meats and cuts is fantastic and it's delicious as is which more than makes up for that. That mashed potato casserole is great too. And price for the amount of food is good. I was also surprised to find the drive through service to be very quick and efficient, a first on any barbecue restaurant I've ever been to. The bonus: free self serve ice cream in a cone or cup when you dine in! A great addition for the kids.

Dickey's. Enough said. Just kidding, though the name Dickey's is synonymous with excellent BBQ and this new location lives up to that. I do not have Dickey's in my home town, so usually enjoy their BBQ at DFW, usually bringing home a couple of pounds of brisket with me. Service was a on the slow side, and I'm not quite sure why, since there was nobody waiting ahead of us. The two guys working were methodical and performed their duties well, so it was worth the wait. There were two in our party and we each got a Lil' Hoagie lunch with chopped brisket, cole slaw, and baked beans. I love BBQ and wondered if I should have ordered a larger sandwich, but this meal was perfect. The brisket was tender, flavorful. The beans were not as sweet as I prefer, but still served quite hot and very good. Cole slaw was pretty traditional, and tasty. I'm not sure if all Dickey's locations have free soft serve ice cream, but this one does. I took advantage of my plastic Dickey's cup and made a [diet] Coke float. A perfect ending to a delicious lunch!

The food is pretty good here, but at this Dickey's they have some good and some bad service, sometimes they have rude employees. The manager needs to keep an eye on their staff to make sure they're always TRYING to give 100% to their customers. I had a girl who rolled her eyes with annoyance(I guess she had a bad day) when I drove through the window and didn't speak a word, and then when she gave me my food, it was burnt! I KINDLY went in to explain the mistake to the person who cooked my food, which was none of the girl at the window's business, BUT she still walked over to where I was to roll her eyes and chuckle.

Service is slow but the BBQ is OK. Get a pulled pork sandwich on Monday for $2. Large Cokes are a ridiculous $2 also. Decent commercial BBQ. edit. The last time I went to this dickeys location, the ribs were cremated and the slaw was soured. Call the manager but she only lied to me. Not going back.
