Gloria's is a delicious Salvadorian restaurant with familiar TexMex dishes to lure you in. The Firewheel location features a beautiful dining room and a large outdoor patio. Service has been excellent and the food is delicious. We've been twice already and it is consistently great. The salsa is flavorful and has just enough kick without being overwhelming. We haven't had an entree that disappointed us so far, ranging from Salvadorian dishes to TexMex dishes. The plantains are awesome... even better than the ones I had in Puerto Rico. The only thing that would make it better would be more of a dessert selection. I'm just not a flan man, and I'm not into milk so tres leches isn't appealing.

I love their delicious meals! The salsa and bean dip is better than average, and you cannot beat the margarita specials!!!

Bleck; food was undercooked and overpriced. The service was incredible though, but I wish I had my $35.00 back.

I love Gloria's Restaurant but have only been to the Firewheel location. It's a regular stop when I'm spending the afternoon meandering around the Firewheel mall. Honestly, until I pulled them up on Yelp, I didn't realize they were all over DFW. They have great food. I love their black bean dip and yes, their salsa is good too. And you'll find several vegetarian choices on their menu...Vegan, not so much so. (Cheese is a primary ingredient. I don't recall seeing anything that didn't include it.)

Initially everybody in my party of 9 were having a good time...until the food came. One of my guests found a long strand of hair in their plate. We brought this to the attention of the server and the manager on duty, but both argued and continued to argue that nobody in their kitchen staff had long hair. I made it clear that I was just pointing out that there was hair in the food being served, but the manager then continued to insist that it could not have happened since nobody that worked at the restaurant, not just the kitchen had long hair. (Later we saw several waitresses with long hair) Not only did this manager had the audacity to continue arguing with me but did not even offer to replace meal. We were not looking for a free meal, just an an apology. I spent over $200 for dinner and drinks that night, but that will be the last time.

I typically prefer more rustic and much more spicy Mexican food, (think Herrera's- Oak Lawn) typically beef dishes while my wife prefers milder spices with loads of cheese most often covering a chicken dish. Gloria's provided a very good compromise for both of us. We ordered Chicken Sour Cream Enchiladas and Beef Enchiladas trading one of each. The beef had good texture and flavor, and the shredded chicken was very good. Both were covered in a good layer of quality cheese. We both enjoyed their picante sauce providing enough heat for me not to complain, and for her not too hot to be be able to eat. The black bean dip was good. The Firewheel Mall location was very clean with good atmosphere. The service on a Friday night was fantastic. We were waited on immediately with our food delivered quickly as ordered. Portions were very appropriate. We did not find the food too salty but noted that others limiting salt intake might have. My tea glass was refilled three times when reaching about half full and I declined two more attempts for refill near the end of my meal. If I had thought to ask for a couple of whole pickled jalapenos my meal would have been even better. We will be returning customers, and would not hesitate to bring friends or family.

Love Glorias! All locations! I am not a 5 star kind of girl but Glorias is the best. Always good service, fresh, tasty food and great, chips, salsa and bean dip!

  • Cory B.

Nothing and I mean nothing can compare to the bean dip that they give you when you arrive. I can literally eat that by itself as a meal. But I'm a real man and need my protein lol. The chicken fajitas are really good and the rice and beans that come with it compliment it well. They also have really good margaritas. I would suggest eating outdoors if possible. Great for conversation.

Gloria's is always a good choice with consistently good food and service. I love the bean dip that they serve you with the chips and salsa. Today, I tried their brunch for the first time. I had the cowboy omelet and it was light and fluffy served with avocado slices, fruit, beans and rosemary potatoes. Try to go during happy hour, otherwise the margaritas are overpriced.

Surprise visit from son #2 who lives in Portland, so Latin food is a must. Gloria's is consistent and we always love our meals there, so we headed to Firewheel. Sunday evening, 6pm. busy but no wait. We ordered lots of drinks and settled on 2 combo meals, chile relleno and that popular chicken breast dish (cant recall the name). They were all excellent. My chile relleno, with grilled chicken fajita meat was HUGE and amazing. Not fried, of course, this dish is fresh tasting and peppers are always fat and meaty! This made THREE meals for me. My son ate about 1/2 of his meal and got the rest packaged up to go... he ate the rest on the plane, somewhere over Idaho. Thanks Gloria's for always being a dependable place for fantastic food!!!

The drinks and service are great the food is not. The meats seem flavorless and mushy. Some meals seem over spiced or under it can be really hit or miss.

  • Lana H.

I love the fact that they give bean and salsa before the meal! The food and staff are good. The restaurant itself is very elegant looking with a huge staircase in front that leads to a secluded upstairs eating area. The drinks are great too. Great (and one of my favorite) places in Firewheel to go to!

This place has a great atmosphere in the Firewheel Town Center. The beans, surprisingly, are the most delicious of their kind that I've ever had. I really enjoyed the enchiladas. The food I would rate as a 4/5 and service as a 3/5 because this place is almost always hopping but it's a solid choice and definitely worth a try!

Excellent food! Excellent service! I came with a group of 20 yesterday and they seated us relatively quickly. I was impressed with how quickly they took our drink and food orders. I had the seafood soup and it was amazing! Highly recommend!

This is one busy place on a Friday night!! The wait was 20 minutes at 7:00 which was ok. I ordered the Combination 2 plate which was a chicken tostada, beef enchilada and chicken quesadilla with queso. Everything was delicious but especially the tostada! I'd get that by itself again!

  • Tracy C.

Big fan of Glorias!! Their house margaritas were strong, just the way I liked it. I ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas. OH EM GEE. So delicious. The black bean dip was equally as good. I can't wait to be back!

We love to eat here. This is the fall back for any date night or just the, I don't feel like cooking night. The food is well prepared and tastes great. The resturant is always clean and the staff is very friendly.

We have been coming to Gloria's for years. And I think that the service and food have just gone down hill. First our waitress could not get out drink order yet even after repeating it several times. Then she brought the tortillas immediately after ordering. Not sure who wants cold tortillas with our food. Then we ordered fajitas for two and it looked like an order for one. After I pointed it out to the guy I just so happened to see passing by because our server would run away from our table liked we had the plague. Even he agreed it seemed small but when the platter was returned it looked like they just charred everything and added a ton of onions. Also we had the Carne Asada which we were never asked how we wanted it cooked and I swear I heard it moo. At these prices service and food should be much better. I'm done!!!

  • Jason J.

I absolutely love this place!! Their bean dip and margaritas are amazing!!! I have noticed that some people are saying that the prices are higher than normal. You are not eating at just any mexican/tex-mex kinda restaurant. THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!! Authentic food at its best!!! I am getting good quality food, so therefore, I do not mind paying a little extra for that!

Good location with plenty of parking. We had Jose, fab server. Loved the interior, bar and over-all feel of the restaurant. I thought it was a bit over-priced for the area and what you received, even though it was very good. After stuffing your face you can walk around the various shops. I recommend the fish tacos and mojitos!

The Gloria's at Firewheel is amazing!!! Our daughter had a birthday celebration last week. The staff at Gloria's made the evening extra special for the adults and the teen!! Nelson is our personal favorite!! He could not be nicer or more excellent in his attentive care of people there. His customer service and dedication is top notch!!! The drinks, dip, food, and dessert are all fabulous. The food and service makes this place memorable!! Thank you Nelson and Gloria's. We will see you again soon!!

I was shocked and amazed that this location in Firewheel Mall was not the other hoity-toity location in Addison. People were wearing jeans, shorts and flip-flops but didn't get put out! The drinks came out fast thanks to radio assist, as did the fresh food and desserts. I will be back, but to this location only.

  • David G.

We have been going to Gloria's on Lemmon Ave. for about 10 years, happy hour all day everyday. They do not honor the same price for all corporate locations. The one at Firewheel does not have the same happy hour prices and days. I believe that since they have the same food and drink recipes, that the prices should be the same. No, and the managers are quick to dismiss us when we say we are not coming back EVER again....they were like ok, that's fine. We had another issue on November 2nd when our server rushed us out on a Sunday at 3pm.... I will quote the server "I just want you to sign the credit card slip so I can leave" The management did not contact me back after the long conversation I had with him about our situation. The management is really bad. I work as a server trainer for Uncle Julios and know how servers are supposed to act and react to situations. We will never go back...and they don't care if we do or not. We have many other options...like Frankie's or Niko's....

Food was just ok. We had fajitas and a chimichanga. It was like they tried to make regular Mexican food prettier and it just tastes ok.

My husband and I were here for a large party rehearsal lunch. The salsa was good and the queso was amazing! I know I tasted cilantro in it and maybe that's the tasty difference. Not too sure about the black bean dip hype? It was just refried black beans to me. The spinach quesadillas were delicious and mostly ingredients not cheese. We kept the margaritas coming because they were tasty and strong. Overall service was good. Hostess was pleasant. I would definitely come back with just me and my husband. Almost forgot dessert! Tres De Leche was so good, but I have to say I was eating my husband's Chocolate Brownie with caramel sauce.

  • Shae K.

Went for happy hour. It is offered all day Monday-Thursday. House margaritas, mojitos, imported beer are all $4. The mojitos are delish, so is the bean dip that is served complimentary with the chips and salsa. We sat out on the patio which is large and spacious. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be returning.

I had high expectations because of what I'd heard, so my experience was a bit mixed. They use fresh ingredients, but combined in a way that seemed like going through the motions and not really cooking, and the meat was seared a bit overenthusiastically. Sides were great, the salsa and dips are fantastic. Service was a bit slow and uncommunicative, but friendly. The drinks are allegedly good but we didn't have any that day, just sodas and water. I get the impression the grill cook was dinged for undercooking meat at some point in his career because everything we had that used to walk around was overcooked. Chicken in the enchiladas was dry, beef in the burrito was also dry and stiff, etc. What they have assembled could be great given the right motivation and skill. This is *Firewheel* so this has to be inevitable if they want to stay open, so I'd be willing to give them another chance.

Yuck!. I never had a good experience at any Gloria's. Drink wasn't good, food not good. It is a popular but doesn't do anything for me unfortunately.

  • Jim R.

Came in for margaritas and nachos. My wife had a tamale and a pupusa with a mojito to drink. She enjoyed the mojito and her food was ok but not worth the price. Margaritas were ok but not a lot of flavor. Nachos cost $1.25 per chip and not very good. Service was slow and found myself looking for our waiter. Would probably come back for drinks but pass on the food.

This was my 1st venture to Gloria's and I must say that the piña colada is excellent and the chimichanga (w/ ground beef) was freakin' ridiculous. Im going to have to add this place to the rotation.

We have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The place is located in Firewheel mall so it's very convenient if you live in the area and are out and about. It's dimly lit and has huge TVs and comfortable seating. Great ambiance, great service, great location and pretty darn good "Latin Cuisine".

  • Ben F.

Great food. When I went in, the fire alarm when off. I'm not sure why, but it took them about 5 whole minutes to turn it off so it was not a peaceful environment. And also we didn't get an apology from the server or any discount on the food because of that.

  • Holly L.

Lovely experience! Despite it being 93 degrees outside I sat on the patio and it was lovely, nice breeze and fans kept the air moving! The tacos de brisket was excellent, especially liked the 'black bean soup' that came with it, not really soup, mighty tasty!! Service was excellent, I couldn't believe how quick my dinner showed up. Highly recommend this place!!

Anyone who's read my reviews on Mexican Restaurants knows that I'm a San Diego, Ca girl and have no fondness for Tex-Mex. Gloria's just might be able to change my mind on Texas Mexican food. It was really good! But of course what I ate was not Tex-Mex. Because I read other reviews on Yelp, I chose the spinach chicken quesadilla. It was huge and very tasty. Not your usual Mexican fare. My only complaint would be the teeny tiny dab of quac they give you; less than a table spoon which hardly was enough for three of the pieces. I did however love the bean dip and their salsa had just enough zing in it for this gringo girl. Their Flan was excellent made just like they do in Spain, (lived there for 3 years) it had a thick sweet custard consistency like it was made with condensed milk like it should be, not your American grandma's custard or creme brulee which should be light and fluffy. Our waiter was very attentive, could be because we were there in between the lunch and dinner rush. The place was very well appointed including the restrooms, I was very impressed. I felt like I was in some posh hotel.

Love going to Glorias! The food and service are generally above average for a restaurant in the $15 to $20 a plate range. Your glasses stay full and they don't gip you on the free salsa and beans by giving you just one each for a table of four. Happy hour is Monday through Thursday and those happy hour margaritas sneak up on you fast! On nice day's the patio is a fun place to sit and people watch. On busy days the'll start to sit you upstairs which is not my favoirate place because it's quite a few stops, there is no bathroom up there and if you're having a few drinks you don't want to take a spill on all those steps. I didn't give it 5 stars only because of the upstairs part.

    (4)
  • Tim T.

The service and drinks were good. The food not so much and overpriced. Normally fajitas come on a sizzling platter. No sizzle and lukewarm. Tortillas were good. The condiments for the fajitas were pretty horrible. None of the food of my main meal seemed very fresh. With so many other dining choices its adios Glorias for me.

    (2)
  • Christy C.

I love Gloria's! Food is always great! It's a little overpriced, but the free fresh chips, salsa, & bean dip have me over looking it! We finally had the brunch today and food was amazing! My only complaint is when we had a mimosa it was room temperature! I had to ask for ice. Nobody likes warm champagne.

    (4)
  • Elyse L.

Wonderful food! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the prices. It was pretty busy, so our server didn't come to the table often but was friendly when she did. All of our orders were correct and came out hot. The bean dip they give you beforehand is awesome. I ordered the sampler plate that came with fried plantains, yucca, a pupusa, black beans, black rice, and tamales. So yummy!! The only thing I didn't like were the tamales. They didn't have enough flavor for my taste, but everything else was top notch! I also ordered the mojito cubano which was good, but barely had any alcohol in it which is annoying when they are $7 a pop. If they lowered the prices a bit this place would be one of my favorites. I can't wait to go back and get the sampler plate again

This location has usually been pretty good, but today, the waitstaff was a bit slow and unresponsive. They served me soggy papusas. I noticed it took a long time to get our order (which was uncomplicated). I think our food had been prepared then allowed to sit and get moist with condensation. Ewww. Greenville Ave and Addison are better locations.

Ok, I do not understand the hype about this restaurant. I've tried it twice. I heard great things about the food, so I kept thinking it must have been an off day the first time...then I realized everyone I talked to always orders drinks with their meal. A couple margaritas during happy hour can make anything taste good. So here is a sober review. Service- interesting. Hostesses (yes, plural, I don't know why, but they had 3 ladies at the front) were rude and condescending. Waiter, now, the place didn't seem very busy, but maybe he had lots of tables cause everything seemed to take forever. I always feel like with a large party servers care less because they know they are getting 20% anyways. Well, that's how we felt at least because a couple times during the dine, we asked each other where he went. Now the food: Both times the chips and bean dip were great. I like the bean dip better than the salsa. I was at a large table both times, and bean dip bowl was pretty much licked clean with the salsa barely being touched. Plantains- served as a side with some of the entrees, you can also order it a la carte. So much better on my second visit. First time the plantains were very dry and flavorless, but this time they were cooked to perfection. Entree- We ordered about 6 steak dishes, both times and every single person agreed that the steak was bone dry and that's with 1 medium well, 4 medium, and 1 medium rare. We all agreed that there wasn't anything special to the meat and it just wasn't worth the cost. There was also a couple of chicken enchilada dishes that I thought tasted fine, nothing amazing or different than any other Tex-Mex. Corn tortillas and shredded chicken. Portions were large, but I didn't think anything else was that special. Dessert- made up for the meal. A cinnamon twist stuffed with mangos and strawberries with a side of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup and caramel. This truly made up for the meal. Everything in this dessert was perfect. The cinnamon twists were soft and great in flavor, cinnamon wasn't overwhelming at all and a perfect complement to the fruit and chocolate and caramel. It is a great portion to share and light enough to compliment a hopefully better dinner than what we had. If I ever go back to Gloria's it will be for the chips and bean dip and this dessert. But for what I've experienced sober, the $$ and the quality of food just isn't worth it to me.

Went here for lunch with a friend. Staff was friendly and attentive. Management staff was nice and checked on us periodically through our lunch. The salsa and bean dip was so good. They kept both full for us and made sure we had chip refills promptly. My friend ordered the quesadillas and I had the chimichanga. Hers looked great and mine was fantastic! Couldn't eat all of it so I saved some for later and it was STILL fantastic! Had a couple of their house margaritas which were on special and they were VERY good. Could taste the tequila, not too sweet. Overall great lunch! Love Gloria's!

I enjoyed Gloria's! I had the carne asada and quail on different visits. Both dishes were good! The prices are reasonable and there is a good variety of food and drink choices on the menu! Gloria's is worth visiting if you are in the DFW metroplex!

  • Paige D.

The staff is excellent. I consistently receive professional and attentive service at this location. The happy hour is decent as well as the decor and patio. I've tried a million things at Gloria's though and I just don't understand the hype. It's average texmex/salvadorian food with above average presentation. With so many other better Latin restaurants in this area, I would rather save money and go somewhere else.

Pupusas are ok but none of the other food have taste. My son order chicken tenders and fries didn't taste like nothing and his fries. I ordered grilled shrimp that I payed $4 each and didn't taste like anything neither.

Dear Gloria's: Thank you for your tacos, your guacamole, your service, and your margaritas. I miss you dearly and I hope one day you migrate to the east coast. I have only great memories of our time together even though it was brief. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good taco-quacamole-making work. Love, Me.

At this point I will not be returning to this location not only did they get my food wrong, but they brought the same plate off trying to pass it as the corrected dish. Third time the plate came out hotter than my first plate. The managers excuse was "they have a lot of tickets back there". I am sorry, but this is a darn restaurant. I hope you have a lot of tickets.

Gloria's is a Mexican and Salvadorian restaurant with nice decor and great waitstaff. There is a large outdoor patio but it was not nice enough to sit outside today. It is in walking distance of AMC movie theater. The salsa was good but did not have a kick. The chips we light and crispy -- just the way I like them. This is the first time I've ever been offerred black bean dip with chips. I liked it. It was hard to stop eating the chips with the black bean dip. I actually preferred it over the salsa. My hubby and I split a small order of the chicken soup ($4.95 for a small and $9.95 for a large). The broth was very flavorful and filling. The soup had shredded chicken, rice, onions, carrots and chunks of avocado. The avocado was so creamy. I ordered the lunch Carne Flameada in beef. It is served with sautéed onions, mushrooms & Queso Flameado over it with refried beans & rice for $9.95. You can opt for chicken instead of beef. The dish originally came with black beans but I asked for refried beans. I wanted to see which tasted better. I actually like the black beans better but the refried beans were very good too. My steak was cooked to perfection. The onions and mushrooms were perfectly seasoned and not overdone. The cheese was a little over the top for me but nice. Rice and beans were good too. Hubby ordered the lunch Charbroiled Quail. It was two large portions of quail served with black beans, spanish rice and fried ripe plantain for $9.95. Charbroiled is right. The quail was tender and moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. Yum-o. The plantain was sweet and served with a dollop of sour cream. I don't think that the sour cream was necessary because the plantain was good on its own. We were pretty full because the entrees were quite large but we still ordered dessert. We opted for the tres leches cake. Oh did we make a good decision. This was a three layer, three milk cake. Three dollops of whipped cream and small slices of strawberries on the side. Man was this cake awesome! Not too sweet with just enough milk to moisten the cake but not overpower. They claim to have the best flan in town. They have two flavors, regular flan and chocolate flan. I will definitely be back to try the flan. I also want to come back (not during work hours) to try one of their mojitos because they are cheap -- $3. Their house margaritas and sangria are also $3. The leftovers were just as good reheated. This just might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant.

One of my top 5 fav restaurants! My boyfriend and I always stop for dinner here when we are in firewheel. Though it can be pricey, the atmosphere and service make it a great experience.

Gloria's has been a favorite place for our family celebrations for several years now... But today, the wait person informed me that if I wanted to substitute veggies for the rice and beans on my meal, the would charge me $2 for the substitution... So long Gloria's, we will be spending our $2 elsewhere...

One of my favorite DFW Mexican restaurants. The margaritas are always great and after 2 I'm feeling pretty good. The fajitas are fantastic along with pretty much everything else on the menu. The wife and I have tried a ton of Mexican restaurants in the area and we keep coming back to Gloria's.

This Gloria's is a really nice one located in Firewheel. The ambience is really nice and decorated well. We started of with the Queso and it was delicious. Of course the bean dip here is fantastic as well. I ordered the Mojito and it was really good although it was on the strong side HA! I ordered the Pescado Acajutla as our waiter told us it was delicious. It came out and looked fantastic. I took my first bite and thought it was good. It didn't hit me til my second bite that it was very salty. I couldn't even enjoy it. The grilled vegetables were a big mush of veggies. I did not enjoy my meal. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing on the menu. *SIGH* I only gave this place a 3 stars as the Ambience was fantastic and my drink was good.

  • Reba G.

This location is A WHOLE LOT nicer compared to some of the other Gloria's in the DFW metroplex because I think it's newer. I loved the ambience of this restaurant, it was very contemporary. We ordered the queso as our appetizer, and it was pretty good. Of course, you can't go wrong with the salsa and black bean dip they bring out. I ordered a mojito, and it was pretty strong and tasty. I'm not a big red meat eater, but the pictures on the menu made the carne flameado look fantastic. I ordered that, and the meat was extremely tender and full of flavor. I loved it. The food here is excellent, but it is a little on the pricier side if you compare it to other chain restaurants. Service was always good, and the waiter was very attentive.

I had never been here before and will go again and revise my review if I have a better experience. I ordered the chicken soup based on some reviews I saw and was not at all impressed. The broth had a weird taste to it. I couldn't pin point what it was, but it tasted a bit off. The avocado wasn't ripe. I had maybe 2 pieces of chicken floating around in there. It was mostly unripened avocado and tomato. Very unpleasant. My mom ordered chicken and spinach quesadillas and the server even repeated it back but then brought out enchiladas. When my mom told him that she didn't order enchiladas all he said was "well that's what I heard". After my other family members made some noises like "?!?!?!?!" he said "you taste it, and when I come back if you don't like it I can bring out something else". Wow. I'm sure if she pushed him he would have corrected it, but it shouldn't have to be pushed. He should have just apologized and taken it back and brought out what she ordered. The prices are a bit outrageous. My small soup was $6 (very small, side item size) and I saw that enchiladas were $14. Maybe if it was absolutely delicious I wouldn't care about the price but I tasted my mom's enchiladas and didn't care for them either. The sauce was strange. The chips taste like store bought corn chips. Like Tostitos. I don't want to knock the chips too much, but I was kind of surprised and so thought it was worth mentioning. Definitely not the crisp hot fresh chips you get in other great restaurants. The bean dip was amazing. The salsa was extra spicy. I'd go back for the chips and dip (emphasis on the dip) I just don't know what I'd order to go with them. I've heard great things about their margaritas so maybe if I go back I'll just order margaritas and eat chips and dip.

Glorias. It gets me every time. Not just because that's my mom's name but because I dream about the food. I've been to this location a few times when I meet up with my friend from Wiley. I always order the pupusas so of course I think they amazing. Yesterday I tried something new that I had to write about. I tried brisket tacos. I hate to say it but they weren't as good as I expected them to be! I was really surprised. I enjoyed the flavor but did not like the brisket meat to be so juicy. I know that sounds wierd but I expected the meat to be drier and less stew like. Don't worry Glorias I still love you. Let's see what you have for me next time.

Nice place for lunch/dinner and happy hour. The margaritas are decent and the patio is nice in the early summer.

The server was punctual and attentive, and we were not disappointed in the margaritas! I encourage folks to try the Carne Asada!

Third time at this location. First time ordering the shrimp cocktail. Never coming again. Yeah, it was that bad. I was really looking forward to the shrimp cocktail. Was so disappointed. The "cocktail" sauce was just ketchup. Really? The shrimp was inedible. I have never ever had shrimp like theirs in my life. It was disgusting. I had to spit it right out and it left a horrible taste. I should have told management. Regret that I didn't give them a heads up. Their other dishes are average. Not explosive flavors - simple marinades and sauces but it's clean and not too heavy. Decent restaurant to try..just don't order the cocktail here. Go to Aw Shucks for that.

I've heard so much about Gloria's I just had to go. The atmosphere is very nice, and tastefully decorated. The prices are good, most everything on the menu was under $20 a plate. The food could use a bit improvement. I had a trio of ceviche, and a pupusa made with chesse. Two of the three ceviches were good, one was little more than shrimp in cocktail sauce. The pupusa was alright, though I think I will get the pork next time. I really like the tortilla/flatbread part, but the cheese inside just seemed to lack something. The person I was dining with knows Latin food very well and has high expectations. He ordered the tamales (salvadorian style) and did not care for them at all and in fact only ate about half the plate. The menu covers, Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Salvadorian food. I'll have to give them another try to really get a feel for it. Came back on 8-3-10 and had they Ceviche Tostadas, which consisted of a tostada shell, guacamole, and ceviche. I'm not sure how authentic the dish was, but flavor wise it was pretty good. It was just ever so slightly fishy. Service was fairly slow, we got out chips, salsa and drink orders right off the bat. The waiter said he would be right back to take our food order, but it took about 15 minutes. The woman at the table next to me even had to flag down her waiter and tell him she needed her check because she had to be back at work.

I went for Happy Hour and it was a lot of fun!!! The drinks were cheap and strong and had half price appetizers. I went in a group and we sat on the patio and it was a great atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and we never ran out of drinks. The queso was delicious and the hot sauce was good too! Our meals were delicious as well! I had the chicken and spinach quesadillas. they were really good but the spinach was a little much. It was all good and I cant wait to go back!

We decided to try Gloria's for lunch this weekend, and boy was it a great idea. We couldn't decide to sit in the patio or dinning room, the weather was beautiful. We nestled into a corner booth in the dinning room. Our waitress immediately came over and took our drink order and app. We decided to try the pupusas which were okay, they were kinda bland. Meh. For my entree I settled on the fish tacos which were delish, the boyfriend ordered a chicken entree that was "salvatex" which was better than mine according to him. Service was great!! She was very attentive and helpful in suggesting dishes from menu. I'd definitely like to come back and try other things from the menu that seemed interesting.

Decent el salvadorian/tex-mex food however I feel there are better ones at WAY better prices not too far from Gloria's. Their happy hour is pretty good however I heard their margaritas are made with EVERCLEAR... which is why they're so strong and moderately priced. There's a reason why I've had to send my drink back (which I NEVER do) simply because it was too strong for me to even sip. The best thing I've had on their menu is the carne asada and enchilada combo.. It's a bit pricey but delicious and you can always split it with someone if you're not that hungy! I absolutely LOVE their chips though. The place is the fanciest restaurant at Firewheel I just don't care too much for many things on their menu and I prefer to eat at Chuy's any day.

5 stars for their strong margaritas. -1 star for lackluster service. -1 for bland mexican food they call "el salvadorian."

I usually do not find a wide variety in Latin american food with most of the dished made around beans and corn. This place was different. I was told it has some Ecuadorian twist to it and I liked it. Some of the sea food preparations were awesome. I tried the salmon on banana leaf. It was a very different and delightful flavor I have had in terms of Latin food. In the end we tried Tres Leche and boy was it awesome. Warning: Do not order it after you have had a lot of food, because one person will never be able to finish it. The service was a little slow but I guess it was because we went during the winter storm and they were short on staff. Anyways, it was a little expensive for lunch but for dinner I would definitely like to go there again and again.

Delicious food. I really liked the tacos and the staff was efficient and nice. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it was pretty loud.

I've always been a fan of Gloria's: good drink specials, decent food, consistent service etc. This is just another location right? Wrong. My friends and I came here for Happy Hour ($3 margaritas, mojitos, sangria) and all was usual. Until I had my 3rd drink. Apparently they cut you off after 3 drinks. Yup, 3 drinks MAXIMUM. WTH? If you've been to Gloria's you know they serve their drinks in rather small cocktail glasses. 3 drinks is barely even a warm up for most people. I understand they have the right to refuse drinks to out of control/drunk patrons, but I for sure wasn't being loud or stumbling around. This was pretty disappointing since we rounded up a group of people who wanted to drink and eat in the area. I am never going to this location again, unless of course my tolerance level falls considerably and I can get drunk off 2 1/2 drinks.

What happened? Gloria's used to be one of the best. Their food, drinks, and service were all great. Unfortunately, the last few times have been disappointing. Last Saturday was the final straw. Reservations were made on a Tuesday. When we arrived we were told that they don't accept reservations but that they would get a table ready... only they needed $35 a head to seat our incomplete party (5/7 people had arrived) or we could wait until the entire party arrived. We chose to wait for the entire party to arrive which took about 5 minutes. We then let the hostess know that we were ready to be seated and an hour later we were seated. I would not be bitter about the wait if not for the fact that they had accepted our reservation earlier in the week and then they denied ever taking our reservation. Chips, salsa, and drinks were promptly served... and then the waiter disappears for an hour. When he did reappear I asked if we could order only to be told that it would be just a few minutes more as he was busy with another table. This would not have bothered me except for the fact that he was nowhere to be seen on the floor so I'm perplexed as to how he could have been busy for the last hour. 15 minutes passes before he came back to get our order but by this point we could see where this was headed and decided to cut our losses and requested the bill. I can't review the food for this paticular dining experience but a few months before I had ordered the salmon chimiscurri salad... salad consisted of brown lettuce with an overcooked, dry piece of salmon... it sucked which was too bad because it used to be a damn good salad! Defending the devil here but their house margarita is still up to par but their all day, every day happy hour specials have disappeared much like their great service.

We love the carne asda! Instead of rice and beans we opt for the salad with fresh avacados. The balsamic dressing is very tasty too! Firewheel location is always very clean.

Glorias......Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.....I don't know where to begin. I will start off by saying that between the Garland, Addison and Rockwall locations I have been here at least a 100 times in the six years that Ive been in Texas. Ive never been disappointed with the drinks. The margaritas and Mojitos are my favorites. If your not a big drinker, then one maybe two of the ritas will have you feeling great. If your more concerned about your calories then definitely go with the mojito. All these locations have happy hour all-day long, 5 days a week. I believe the Garland location is a little cheaper then the others offering $3.00 margaritas and mojitos. As far as the food goes I would suggest my personal favorite, the Mar y Tierra. You get a good size skirt steak and a few grilled jumbo shrimp. And, this comes with a side of the famous chimi churri sauce(Brazilian steak sauce). I also love the spinach chicken quesadillas, burrito con queso and the fajita nachos. I will shoot you straight and say that you cant go wrong with anything on the menu here. During the warmer days they usually have a guy that will sit out on the patio and play his guitar while singing songs at your request. I think it varies on what nights he will be there, but just call ahead.

Too expensive, and the fajitas weren't nearly as good as Posados (If you're a fajita junkie like me and you haven't had Posados; fajitas go NOW!). The only stand out we had were the plantains, which were pretty delish, I have to admit. All told, it was overpriced and mostly mediochre. I won't go back since the plantains don't make up for the rest of the food.

I've generally been a fan of Gloria's wherever you might find them, and the Firewheel location was no disappointment. Love me the complementary fresh chips, salsa, and the black bean dip. There salsa is tasty but I always pig out on the black bean. We ordered queso and that was pleasing to the palate. The shrimp enchiladas (camarones) were excellent. The shrimp is not overcooked, and the enchilada sauce flavorful without being spicy. Love their rice as well; light and fluffy compared to most Mexican rices found in the area. Finish it off with the Tres Leches cake (fantastic; so moist!) and you have a perfect meal. Service was friendly and very attentive. It isnt cheap tex-mex; few entrees under $10; most were 11.99 to 15.99 but taste, quality, and serving size is there. Barely loses a star for a very loud dining room and the party of 12 they sat the 2 of us right next to. But I'll be back for darn sure.

To not allow smoking on the patio is ridiculous. I can go to chili's and order a chicken fajita plate and some margaritas that are just as good for less money and they will let me light up inside.

Not only did we have a poor experience at Gloria's in Garland, but we had a downright disturbing one! First of all, the service SUCKED. I mean, flat out, big time, sucked. Our waiter was gruff and short with us, and the service was just slow in general. We had a pretty large party, but we're super nice (was eating with a bunch of hubby's family, possibly the nicest people on the planet) and we weren't demanding at all. Maybe he just figured he could provide us with crappy service since they were going to grat us at the end anyhow. Now.. the disturbing part is this. One of my husband's uncles found a very hard little bit in his food and upon inspection it looked VERY MUCH like a bit of TOOTH. Like, human tooth. Okay, I'll wait a minute while you all recover. Yeah, it was disgusting. Needless to say, he stopped eating at that point. They apologized of course, and I guess they took something off the bill, but.. hello EW. I am shuddering right now. My food was so-so. I had a cheese chile relleno and a cheese enchilada. I also asked for NO rice, and I got rice. Thanks, sucky waiter. The whole experience was surprising because I've eaten at the Gloria's on Greenville several times and to my memory, always had a pretty good experience. Perhaps I can blame this on the cess pool that is the Firewheel shopping hell.

Brunch was overpriced for what you got and waaay too salty. I've been to the locations on Lower Greenville and Lemmon at lunch and had been extremely pleased with the food. However, the weekend prices and brunch prices are a little much for what you get - $10 bucks for eggs with a few pieces of diced ham and some salty refried beans. This location also seems to be aiming for a more upscale atmosphere than the other two locations.

I really wasn't expecting too much out of glorias. My sister suggested it after a long day of gardening at her house in wylie so I of course accepted the offer of free food. The black bean dip was good, not a whole lot of flavor but not a bad way to start the meal. The salsa was not to spicy which was good for me, but i can see how others might want it with a little more heat. Im truly a wuss when it comes to spicy food. I got the chicken, spinach, and cheese enchiladas. They were excellent. My sister got the chicken chimichanga and it was perfect! The shredded chicken was juicy and had a great flavor. Both dishes were actually a huge hit. We ended up splitting ours because we had ordering envy! I will definitely go here again. Its affordable and they really hit the mark on delicious mexican food.

OMG... what a shrimp cocktail... I almost had to throw up... Dont ever ever order shrimp cocktail here!! It was the nastiest food I've ever had in my life... It costs 6.99. I don't think it's even worth it to pay $1.00. It's really fishy and sauce is only ketchup...

We eat here almost every week. The salmon is amazing to the point where you will crave it! The staff is always nice though we miss the previous manager, Israel. If you haven't been you must go! Everything on the menu is great and they have a wonderful variety.

I have been to this restaurant several times with mixed feelings each time I left. Let me first say that the food is pretty good, no real complaints. My problem is with the service. The first time my wife and I went there we arrived a few minutes before they opened so the young lady I asked us to be seated until they opened, which we did. at 11:00 when they were supposed to open the manager and all of the employees were having a meeting in another room. The young lady kept having to tell us and others that were coming in the meeting wasn't over and it would be a few minutiae before we could be seated. At 11:10 the meeting was over and they started seating us. We felt that this was very poor management and the meeting should have ended at 11:00 when they opened. As I said, the food is ok but the were slow and not very attentive. We went there to eat last Sunday and it was pretty good. We had a young lady for a waitress named Elisabeth and she very polite and attentive. All of the staff should be like Elisabeth. The faults I have lie completely with management.

Gloria's is a great place for "date night" away from the kids (park once, get full & buzzed, and then walk over to the movie theater) or to hang out and drink $3 mojitos. The food is great and the prices are really reasonable. There's a good mix of people (old, young, yuppie, pink-haired tatted up chicks [yum], & trendy) and the service is attentive and quick, even when the place is popping. And they get an extra star for putting out hot, black beans with the chips and salsa. Yay, beans!

The food is great the waiters are very fast with the food. The drinks are great. Great place to take a large group. I have taken a group of over 20 and we where seated and given the top room all to ourselves. Great place.

Service is always on point whenever I go here, Platanos are a great appetizer and Carne Asada is amazing! I haven't ever ordered a bad plate from here, service is always QUICK and friendly. I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone! Plus they have Pupusa's for cheap on the appetizer menu, how could you go wrong?

First, I hope that you will READ BEYOND THIS FIRST SENTENCE after seeing the 1 star rating. I personally tend to breeze over the 1 star ratings people give because it's usually amateurs that just like to complain. This is not one of this times. I'll cut right to the chase - the food was horrific. The margaritas that everyone seems to rave about confused me. Perhaps I got a random fluke batch that someone unintentionally screwed up. The margaritas did not taste like lime. They tasted like cheap tequila and pencil shavings. We traded them in for 2 Dos Equis. The Dos Equis were flat, and tasted like old beer. The salsa was tomatoey with no kick whatsoever. It also had entirely too much cilantro in it. The restaurant was impeccably which is why I wish I could rate this 1.5 stars. But then we get to the service..... We waited 22 minutes before our server even took our food order. The food came out about 10 minutes later. I ordered the beef fajitas, and my girlfriend ordered the combo platter - beef taco, chicken enchilada, and a beef fajita taco. The beans and rice came out on the skillet - which surprised me since I have thing against my foods touching. The meat was overcooked (a solid well done), but flavorful. The tortillas was thin and buttery - almost seethru. The guacamole tasted premade. My girlfriend's meal was bland and room temperature. The enchilada tasted like it had sat under a heat lamp all day, and the taco meat was not fresh. After we finished, we sat waiting for about 15 minutes for someone to clean our plates, let alone bring out the bill. Finally a manager came by to ask how our meal was. We explained we were done, and she began to clean out places. Then we sat. And we waited. and waited.. and waited... About 15 minutes later, our waiter finally reemerged, and THEN we could ask for the bill. When he brought the bill out after an inexcusable duration of time later, he had charged us for our rejected margaritas. After clearing that up, we paid and left, never to return. This was easily the single, most complete, worst experience we've ever had at a restaurant - wholly deserving of my EXTREMELY RARE 1 star rating.

Food was awesome. Service was exceptional. Drinks were strong and inexpensive. My wife and I shared the spinach enchiladas and we had margaritas all of it was really good. With all the chips and hot sauce we ate before hand we both had more than enough to eat. I wore a t shirt and blue jeans. I felt almost a little under dressed. The atmosphere feels like an upscale place. We sat in the bar area so I felt ok in there.

Went there again last night and I'm bumping them up to three starts. The pupusas were much better and the Sangria was great. Since I live close by, I'm sure I'll be stopping in for Happy Hour more often.

The food is pretty good, and so are the margaritas the only thing that I don't like is the wait. Especially because it is a part of the mall it's like everyone goes here to eat so it is busy all the time.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
