Tellico Kats Deli

Great place to grab a bite. The deli sandwiches are great and they make a killer panini. Look for the specials and you have to try one of their homemade soups. Cool on the inside and a scenic back porch overlooking the river. Super clean restrooms to freshen up in right before you literally step outside.....and you're literally starting the drive up the Cherohala Skyway.
I have driven past this place for years on my way up through tellico plains but had never stopped. I found out quickly that I was the one missing out! Fresh bread and ingredients are the base that makes this place great! There is a different special everyday as well as a soup of the day. So far my favorite has been the meatball sub. It was one of the best I have ever had! I was so shocked because the building isn't much to look at and most people I've talked to always recommended the beach drive in instead. I would highly recommend not making the same mistake I did and make sure you stop by to eat. They also will box your food to go if you call ahead so you can have a picnic in the national forest!
Great local deli! Stopped in this weekend while visiting family in Tellico Plains. The food offerings are fairly simple (sandwiches, salads, desserts), but tasty and well done. I ordered a veggie sub, and everything in it tasted nice and fresh. The bread looks and tastes housemade and compliments a simple sandwich really well. I also got a jello salad that they had for the day. It was exactly as expected. My dining companions ordered the chicken salad, which comes in a platter size, but the ladies who own Kat's will cut it down to a half portion for you if you ask, a slice of delicious peach pie, and a pulled chicken sandwich (which was probably the best thing that we got--moist and well seasoned). One of the owners took our order (my mom knew her and mentioned that to me later) and was friendly and helpful with suggestions. We ordered a to-go order as well, which she timed perfectly for when we were leaving. The indoor area leaves a lot to be desired as far as ambiance goes. Again, though, it's a pretty simple deli, so that's not a huge surprise. However, the outdoor seating options are highly recommended. Their back porch faces right onto a nice scenic view of the Tellico River. Very shady, cool, and a nice place to spend a few minutes while on the road or visiting town. Inside, it looked like they had a little mini store for travelers, but I didn't pay much attention to their stock.

This place is a diamond in the rough. The guy who makes the food is not a cook but a chef. I have been all over the US and tasted all kinds of food and can tell you he makes the best western omelets I have ever had...consistently. You can get breakfast all day. It may not look like much from the inside or the outside but the food is excellent. Free wifi is nice, too. I don't know what brought this chef to a tiny little town in east Tennessee but I hope he stays. The location on the map is WAY off. Town Square Cafe & Bakery is downtown in Tellico Plains, next to the hardware store.
Does Tellico have health inspection? There's no way! This is the filthiest restaurant I've ever been in. The giant holes in the seats should've been an indication, but I was starving and it seemed as though the town is closed on Sundays. I will say that the tattered menu is extensive on the breakfast side, which they serve all day. I ordered the the country fried steak meal and asked for the gravy on the side. It had an odd, Spamlike taste. The eggs that I ordered over medium were under the pile of greasy pile of hashbrowns. It's official, they hate to clean AND do dishes. Seriously, why else would they pile the hashbrowns on the eggs? I very rarely leave food on my plate, but here... Finally... the bathroom: this was the worst bathroom that I've ever attempted to use. I'll spare you and leave it at that. Considering that I had to go through two doors to get to it, I decided to wash my hands once I got in the bathroom. I literally gagged while washing my hands... it was that bad.
We came across this one day with some friends and was totally impressed. All the vegs were fresh from the garden . Real mashed potatoes which are hard to find. Service was top notch .i would give it More stars if I could. P.s.biscuits were homemade too

My absolute favorite place to eat back home. My husband and I have moved away (likely for good) and it's the one place that we really miss. Anytime we visit, we have lunch at the Beach almost every day. The beach burgers are fantastic (and I'm not a big fan of burgers) and I'm forever in love with the cheese munchers. I've always hated the parking, but if you park toward the ends, you'll have much better luck pulling out.
My hubby & his Papaw used to stop by here on their way their favorite hunting spots up in the mountains. I've heard about this place for the past 5 years and one afternoon we decided to just ride thru the mountains and check it out. First off - its cash only. So don't forget that. Secondly - it's a burger shack. And thirdly - you simply MUST try this if you're in/around the area!! I loved my burger!! It was juicy, a little messy, had all the right toppings, and the fries were so crunchy!! The setting, along the river, surrounded by mountains, is just otherworldly! My husband and I sat on a bench and he reminisced about his hunting trips with Papaw and all the times they stopped here. He's been going w/ his Papaw for some reason or another for almost 25 years! So come give it a try. Even if you aren't in the area, make time to stop by, pick up a great burger and milkshake, and dawdle around the mountains. It's completely worth it.
Just good, plain beach food: burgers & fries, hot dogs, ice cream. If you've ever been to In-N-Out Burger out west, the burgers here will remind you of theirs. It's a great place to stop on your way to or from the Cherohala Skyway (or both). In the summer, you can take a dip in the river (it's pretty narrow and shallow - looks more like a large creek). There are lots of picnic tables on both sides of the building. The only downside, really, is the parking. It's roadside, so when you leave, you have to back into the street. Luckily, most people are aware of this place and are watching out for cars doing that very thing.

I didn't expect this place to be a gastropub, it was what it was - a hometown "family restaurant" or sorts. We had no internet access and didn't know where to find Krambonz, and by the time we' come off a day on the road it was conveniently located and accessible. Food was decent but not awe-inspiring, service friendly enough. They do have wifi, though they don't advertise it at all.
Great and greater Then ask for dessert strawberry and Whipped cream: the Napoleon !!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh
Guy Fierro, pay attention and get here: Yes, this is a heart attack waiting to happen. Yes, it's well worth and what a way to go... Bourbon Chicken, fried cutlet drenched in a home made a little too sweet bourbon sauce. Home made mashed excellent on the side. Barbecue chicken with sweet potatoes French fried to perfection sprinkled with sugar. What? So good. Desert specialty of the house: a puff pastry filled with cream and topped with a generous portion of vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkled with heaven. So bad and yet so good. Don't go often but go go go!!!

Crab Trap

Reviews:
My husband and I were on a Sunday afternoon ride and stopped at the Crab Trap. From the outside there were several cars so it looked like they had a few customers. When we went inside it was pretty obvious there were more waitresses than customers because it was pretty empty. We ordered and waited probably 30 minutes for food that should have in no way taken that long to prepare. The waitress told us she had been back to ask for our food several times and was screamed at for asking. The food was decent but don't think I would choose this place again.
had a great fish sandwich here. lots of fish low batter, good tartar sauce. bread was too crumbly though
Great feel to the place but the food was undesirable to say the least. Good cold beer.
