This is my go-to Mexican restaurant in Smyrna. My wife and I eat here regularly. The food is great. The drinks pack a punch. If you crave hot stuff, ask for the tomatillo salsa and the Camarones Caliente. Guaranteed to clear your sinuses! Their service and food is consistently good. This is truly some of the best Tex-Mex you will find locally. Try them! HINT: If you come here for Cinco de Mayo, get here early.....real early......like 0 dark thirty early. If you get here later be prepared to wait. Your only option will be to order a drink. Then you won't care about the wait!

This is by far my favorite Mexican place in middle Tennessee! I've tried a lot of their items but my favorite is for sure the monster burrito! If I can't decide what to eat or want to impress somebody with some Mexican food this is the place to go! The monster burrito is huge and priced very well. The shredded chicken is amazing and so is the steak! You can't go wrong with either. The staff is friendly and polite. There's a great patio area if you feel like eating outside which is a bonus these days. It's kinda funny I moved here from Texas and am used to my burritos being the size of a newborn and thought I would never find one that size around here so my 8 year search is complete!

I am so glad I found this place. I ordered 2 Mexican tacos with shredded chicken and a fish taco. They where awesome and very authentic. The red sauce for the tacos was very tasty and had quite a bite to it. If you like authentic Mexican you will like this place. Also the salsa was very rich in tomato flavor, kind of like with canned sweet tomatoes which I love. Don't take the canned offensively, just trying to describe it. We will definitely go back and it is a huge plus to Smyrna for having it

Night before last was my first trip here and I'm sad that I live in a different state because the food was delicious! The cheese sauce we requested as an add on to our complementary chips & salsa was piping hot. The side of guacamole was fresh made & mmmmm good. My friend and I both ordered the large shredded chicken chimichangas and they did not disappoint on size or taste. Our waiter was friendly and accommodated our special requests without hesitation or making us feel like we were a bother. We brought home steak fajitas for her son & he said "they're great!". As we left they thanked us for coming in, how nice!

Love this place. Best chips and salsa I have ever had. Always get the number one plate and the wife gets the chicken fajitas. I always steal some of her chicken.

This is my third review of El Pueblo, but I've eaten there many times in the last few months. It might seem like I review them every time, but I'm actually upgrading them when they deserve it. I was there a couple of days ago, had a terrible experience, almost walked out, but witnessed a huge customer service problem turn into a 5 star review in moments. As I mentioned in my earlier reviews, I have started getting special orders, which they are more than happy to produce. However, it turned into a problem with a new server. He came to the table where my friend and I were sitting and took our drink order. My friend also ordered queso dip and I ordered the guacamole, but I asked for a little (and I held my fingers just a tiny distance apart--the international symbol for just a little. Right? =) chopped jalapeno and diced tomatoes. He very clearly did not want to do it and hemmed and hawed about it. I told him they do it all the time. Finally, he left and returned with a bowl of their high quality, yet a bit bland guac, with tons of quartered jalapeno just thrown on top with very little diced tomato. (the servers usually make the adjustments themselves.) As my friend ordered her entree, I began removing the jalapeno and dropping it on the table. (I had only one napkin and restaurants have no ashtrays on the tables anymore.) When I finish eating, I stack my plates and utensils up with my trash and would have cleared the jalapenos at that time. Instead, the server stopped taking my friend's order, reached across me with his arm about 4 inches from my face, muttering that I needed to put it on a napkin and began putting it on said napkin. I felt like he was correcting me and I didn't like it one bit. Then he was just generally irritated with me and gave me a hard time about my order, so I finally told him to never mind, because I didn't even want anything anymore and he said OK and left. He didn't offer me drink refills when my friend got hers. He didn't even look at me. (I'm skimming over some stuff, but needless to say it was dismal service.) I asked for the manager and the owner's daughter came to the table. She apologized profusely and went to the kitchen and put in my order, which she knew by heart. She also redid the guac and brought me a coke refill. She then told me that she had sent the server home and that they take customer service very seriously and will retrain him. She took our table over herself and also comped both our checks and offered to pick up dessert as well. The food is generally fantastic and, despite this experience, I think their service is stellar. I do feel bad that the server got sent home. He has to pay his electric bill, too.

First time here ... Food is great and so is the service! Portion size is well worth the money spent.

If this is the best Smyrna has to offer, please do yourself a favor & head 20 minutes down the road to Nashville. This is a perfect example of all Sysco has to offer - straight from the can to your table. Canned salsa, canned guacamole, microwaved cheese dip & we should have just left then, but our empty stomachs beat out our common sense. Someone had to have actually worked pretty hard to make sure that all this "authentic" Mexican food had no flavor, no spices & no fresh vegetables to speak of. The ground beef was just that - ground beef with no flavoring added. The chile poblano I ordered had a serious lack of cheese, which is strange since that (besides the pepper) is the dish's main claim to fame. Covered with more Sysco red sauce, the only authentic thing about this dish, was the pepper itself. One can only wonder what culinary wastelands other reviewers hale from because this was honestly the WORST restaurant experience I have ever had the displeasure to swallow.

Love this restaurant and the employees. They are fantastic. The food is excellent and the quantity and price is just amazing. The drinks are out of this world. It is truly a hidden jewel in Smyrna. The best mexican in the area. Even our family comes into town to visit just to go here. LOVE IT.

I have been there many times, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Smyrna. I always get the monster burrito, and it is literally as big as my face. The food is well seasoned and fully cooked, I have not had any issues with service. The atmosphere of the restaurant does not have that commercial feel you get with the chain restaurants. If you are hungry for good Mexican i would recommend El Pueblo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
