You MUST try this place!! Every detail was tended to! The bread/butter from the beginning to the dessert was phenomenal! The service was great and the atmosphere is very nice for the tiny town of Sewanee! We started with a local white cheddar cheese, followed by the winter salad which was overflowing with flavor! My husbands filet was "the best he's had in years" and my Hamachi was so good I couldn't get enough! Dessert was the chocolate flour less torte and my hubs got the Creme Fraiche ice cream. Both were decadent! Incredible!!!! Make your reservation now!

Speechless. Indescribably phenomenal food. We went for an anniversary dinner on a Friday night 6pm (we were the only folks there that early - which we loved!). The place was pretty near full by the time we left. The Beef Filet was hands-down the best beef I've ever put in my mouth. The Black Garlic Risotto was out of this world. What am I saying?? EVERYTHING was out of this world. I kid you not - this was the best meal I have ever had in my 32 years of existence. I can't wait to go back. I think this is going to be an anniversary tradition for us.

The food, the presentation, the service, all so good. If you live anywhere within an hour or two of sewanee, you have to come and try it. The food was by far the best I've ever had within a 100 (and probably more) miles of sewanee. It wasn't just that the food was excellent, but it was also fun. Yes, it did start with a spoon full of "brown stuff" (which by the way turned out to be really good mashed chickpeas with lime and onions - i think) accompanied by the cheesy "this is to awaken your palette" line but it only got better from there. The sorbet in between the first courses was excellent, the braised beef was so tasty and just falling off the bone, and the chocolate soup beats most of the desserts i've had in my life.

Ambitious, interesting menu. Lovely sorbet, highly recommended. Service was adequate. Duck pastrami starter consisted of huge hunks of underdressed meat with pickled edibles so sparse and tiny i found it nearly impossible to create a balanced bite. The burger was quite good, with mixed bacon ground with the high quality beef and a huge slab of white cheddar perfectly melted on top and in the middle of the patties. However, the potatoes were not edible. They were extremely dry, like they had been cooked several days ago. I politely told the server to please let the chef know so she could fix the problem. No acknowledgement from the chef or the server, which is fine, I just wanted to save the servers and cooks the heartache of putting out yucky potatoes for other patrons. The dessert was fine, a panna cotta with orange and poppyseed pound cake. Panna cotta was a little runny and bland, but the sugared orange was delicious. Overall, just disappointed. I'll pay good money for good food, but felt like the place was just not up there with other similar places I've eaten. I do not plan to go back.

This is my second update on IvyWild and I'm happy that I can once again bounce them back to five stars. We arrived at 6:00, which was clearly early as we were the only ones in the restaurant. When I made dinner reservations they had asked about dietary restrictions and made notes on the menus in advance for the vegetarians in our party, which was very nice. Dinner was excellent. I had the heirloom tomato salad which was beautiful and had a variety of tomatoes cut different ways. Some of them were the sweetest tomatoes I'd ever had, almost like candy. I wasn't crazy about the roasted seeds in the salad, but they were not a major issue. The steak main course was lovely and served with a tasty risotto, some roasted veggies and a fried egg yolk (I had to ask what it was, but it tasted good). For desert I had a peach parfait, which was lovely (although they might want to invest in some longer spoons if they plan on continuing to serve deserts in tall glasses). I noticed that all three of the deserts our party ordered, while still being sized for one, were larger than most of the deserts I've had there in the past, which I think contributed to my feelings of satisfaction at the end of the meal. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food as well. Overall a very nice evening.

This was truly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. To think that this place is in Sewanne!! We started with 3 different cheeses that were paired with the most interesting things. Very innovative and quite wonderful. Than we had the smoked caesar salad with a fresh egg! It was so good that I never wanted it to end. We also had a cornmeal cake toped with fois gras butter. It was insane! For the main course... we had salmon cuit sois vide and duck breast pastrami. WOW! I will kindly drive 85 miles from Nashville to go back to this fine fine restaurant. Be aware that you need to BYOB. Give this place a try......INCREDIBLE!!

In a funky former dry cleaner's building, this gem of a restaurant is delightful. Innovative, but not odd, the food was top notch. Our funny & charming waiter was so excited about the offerings that it was contagious. The butternut squash/risotto gratin, wow. And it is a BYOB, which really helps the pocketbook. A truly special place in this tiny-but-charming college town.
