The 5-star reviews are absolutely legitimate. The cupcakes here are the bomb. The cake itself it very moist and fresh, and the icing is delightfully tasty without being overly sweet. The nice thing about the cake here is that they all use different flavor bases, so it's not just icing put on top of only vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry cakes. There's a lot of variety here and no two cupcakes taste alike. We tried everything from the Oreo to the lemon to the strawberry to the pina colada - all excellent. Even the ones we tried after 3 days sitting in Gladware were still nearly as good as the day we bought them. I like Magpie's cupcakes, but these are not only better tasting but also a better value (cupcakes are nearly 30% bigger at Tara Jean's for the same $3 per cupcake price). I visit this area 2-3 times a year and will absolutely stop here each time, even if it's a little out of the way. I hope these folks are in business a long time!

Ok, they close at 9, not 10. They are proud of their homemade ice cream, and with good reason. We enjoyed it. It's worth skipping dessert at most anyplace else to come here. They offer a Yelp! deal, which I like, but there is better ice cream nearby, Dear Reader. I can't lie.

Would not recommend this place at all. We ordered our daughters 18th Birthday cake from here (2 wks prior to birthday), and when we went to pick it up the brought it out on on a flimsy piece of cardboard with plastic on the cardboard. No box and when I asked her about it she said they did not have a box big enough. By the time we got it to the party I was using the plastic that was wrapped around the cardboard to hold the cake together. The whole side of cake was coming apart. when I called back to report this I spoke with Tara and she said it was not her fault!? I said you made the cake and charged me $90 for it. She did not refund any of the money or even act like she cared. She asked if there were dowels holding cake together when I looked it was like the paper cake pop sticks that was put in it This was a 2 tier cake. A very heavy cake at that.

The most amazing atmosphere, and sweets!! This place has a huge selection of cupcakes, cakes, homemade at Tara Jeans ice cream, frosting shooters, and many other baked goods. Plus their bathroom is lined in comics. This place is amazing. You should definitely give this place a try. Trust me, its worth it!!!!

We have gone here several time and always love everything we get. The building its self is welcome and so are the staff. So far we have tried the ice cream, shakes, cupcakes and fritters. I liked the cake pop, but they don't have those all the time. I'm going to get my birthday cake from them for sure. This is a get place to stop if you are visiting from out of town or if you are local. The cupcakes here are better than the the other bakeries in the area.

My children and myself LOVE Tara Jean's! I prefer their cannoli and my kids absolutely love their cupcakes. I plan on trying their homemade ice cream this summer!

Really, really impressed with this little shop. Super nice folks and the ice cream is amazing and the cupcakes are WONDERFUL! Check out the 'Chocolate Madness' cupcake and be careful not to get any icing on your forehead cuz your tongue will beat your brains out tryin' to get at it........

My only regret about this place is that we did not come here every day!! We were in town for 4 days and came here the night before we headed home :( the owner was soooo nice friendly and helpful !!!! Their ice cream is all homemade!! I had almond joy and key lime pie in a waffle bowl. It was delicious!!! And I'm not big on ice cream. I'm a huge cupcake person though and I've had some really good ones. These were up top on my list!!!! Moist - not dry at all !!! I got Reese's and wedding cake. Reese's tasted just perfect - not overpowering. I just can't say enough good things about this place. It's in a kinda secluded area but worth your trip I promise!!!

One scoop of cookie dough ice cream, one chocolate sundae cupcake = BEST LUNCH EVER!!!! Very friendly, cool little place. Great place for a snack, or a break from traffic on a hot day :)

Excellent experience! Loved it! Ice cream spectacular! Cup cakes even better. Took our family of six (4kids under 9). The owner was very hospitable and fantastic to our children. Must go! We made it at a time with a great special!

Balmy summer evening, sitting on the wide front porch of a log cabin at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains with my honey, enjoying slow licks from a Smoky Mountain Fudge cone. How much better can it get? This is a great little place. Tara is a talented baker and knows how to make things not just delicious, but fun. I was tempted to get the Worms With Dirt Sundae!
