We have been here a week and found a fantastic place! It is on the way to a fun drive at Cades Cove if you are headed from Pigeon Forge. The scene as you pull up is out of a movie. Beautiful mountain background and nice landscaping is a perfect setup. We ordered the prime rib and the fried catfish as well as the chicken fingers for the kids. I mean it is catfish and fried for that matter. How can it taste that good? I was surprised. I asked the server if the chicken fingers were frozen or made there. She said that they were made right there. Just want to say that they were delicious. The prime rib doesn't even need to be mentioned because it was amazing!! Gosh. Love it and hope to go back soon. Last and definitely not least was the coconut pudding pie. Well, it was the best I have had. Better than my favorite one in St. Augustine.

This is a fantastic, motorcycle friendly café right on the foothills Parkway in Tennessee. Make sure you stop here since there is a paved road to pay for parking. The staff is incredibly friendly and efficient. Have their signature crêpe: it is crunchy and delicious with spinach, eggs, caramelized onions, and it's savoriness is perfectly balanced with this sweet and spicy dipping sauce. The coffee was fresh and hot, and the Wi-Fi fast and easy to access. They have lovely local goods for sale and are surrounded by other shops where you can pick up some gifts to bring your family on your way home.

Restaurant that seems like it is in the middle of nowhere! Local meats and dairy. Service was great and breakfast was very good! We plan on coming back tomorrow for lunch! By the way, the sweet crepes are listed in the back of the menu!

Food and service were both great! We had the open faced turkey sandwich and chocolate pie - they were both delicious!

We were looking for some good homemade breakfast and we found it! The best meal that we have had so far! Friendly service and very clean!

Thanks to Yelper recommendations, we sought out Elvira's for breakfast before heading out for the next leg of our journey. It is about 10 miles off the Pigeon Forge strip but is definitely worth the adventure of the 2 lane country road to get there. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. For breakfast, it has a good selection including crepes. I recommend the sausage and ham for side meats, we did not try the bacon. Our eggs were perfect over medium. The biscuits are huge fresh and tasty. Very flakey. The surprise of the dishes was the hash brown casserole. While it did not look the prettiest, it had a fantastic flavor. It was moist and cheesey. Due to my diet, I generally avoid potatoes but I couldn't stop eating these until I ran out. They also do a dinner menu which I was sorry we weren't able to try. If they do breakfast this well, I wanted to see what they would do with dinner.

After a long morning river ratting, lunch at Elvira's was great! Very friendly service, FRESH made to order food. Even our 2 boys at every bite! Definitely recommend if you're staying in Wears Valley

One of the best breakfast I have ever had! Try the mountain man omelette either grits. Enough for two people so a great dish to split. The sausage gravy was some of the best I have ever had. A must stop if you are in the area!

Simply outstanding food!! I have a vacation home near the restaurant, and eat there at least daily when I'm visiting. The ingredients are all fresh. The food is prepared in an open kitchen, so you can watch the goodness being made. And then, there's Rena! The best and sweetest waitress I've ever had the pleasure of meeting! I love the owner Elvira, and the whole crew at this 5 star gem!

Terrific find. Plenty of high quality American standard fare, but also some excellent unique specialties like the fried chicken buckwheat crepe....amazing. High quality ingredients and wonderful pairings. So happy we ate here.

We stopped in after a day of hiking. Both had the prime rib. Wife had baked potato and fried okra. I had the fried potatoes and onions with mine. Everything was EXCELLENT and serving sizes were generous. Server was very friendly and attentive. We actually went here for breakfast this morning also. Liked it so much we had to come back to try the dinner :-) Elvira was working the register... She's a hoot!

People are so nice and the food was very southern. Just what we all wanted for breakfast ( biscuits and gravy ) I was told everything is from right around town loco only. I would go back. Both outside and inside seating.

A little bit out of the way, but a scenic drive and well worth it. Everything was great, but the Hashbrown Casserole really stood out. Service was prompt and friendly. They were very helpful and accommodating, as we have small kids. Will make Elvira's a stop on our next trip to the area.

I love farm-to-table restaurants with their freshness. After spending the last couple of days in Pigeon Forge, it sure was nice to get away from the chains/processed foods/touristy area and find this great establishment. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. The food was delicious, flavorful, fresh, and proportionately appropriate. Pricing was fair. I would definitely return and recommend.

Stopped for lunch on the way to GSM. I had the BLT with fried apples and my husband had the roasted turkey sandwich with onion rings. Both items were very good. I am very picky about my BLT's and I have to say they have proportions spot on. The waitress was very nice. She was quick to take our order and bring out our food. Can't wait to be back in the area again so we can try breakfast too! Also, don't skip dessert!! The chocolate cream pie was delicious!!!

Stopped for dinner - prime rib was terrific. Off the beaten path away from the multitude of chain restaurants, but still busy on a Saturday night.

We stopped in after biking Cades Cove at 11 am. Most everyone was ordering breakfast. I ordered breakfast and it was good, my brother loved the rueben with corned beef made in house and sour kraut too! My husband enjoyed the burger and loved the onion rings. It was clean and the staff was super friendly and cheerful.

My wife must be some kind of emotional mess. Told her were taking vacation in the mountains and she started to cry from joy. The first day here, we came to Elvira's cause it's right next door to the rv park where we are staying. She got the mountain man omelette. She cried again. I asked what's wrong. She said it's sooooo good. My French toast was very yummy too. Think we will be having breakfast everyday here during our stay. PS. Just don't make her laugh out she will spit sweet tea on you.

We were in wears valley on vacation. We Had the catfish and potatoes and onions... Outstanding. We came back for lunch which was great as well. We came back for dinner for our last meal in town.

Friendly staff-these were some seriously happy folks, all smiles and hellos, which was a good sign immediately. Breakfast was quick, hot & tasty. Real nice rustic atmosphere. The savory crepe was delicious and the biscuits and gravy tasted just like they should in the South!

Ate at Elviras this morning. Service was friendly, food was delivered quickly. My family got the biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs and hashbrown casserole. Everything was very bland. No seasoning in the gravy, eggs were supposed to be scrambled but were wet and not good. As far as the hashbrown casserole, you couldn't taste anything over the large uncooked onions, which were plentiful. I don't think we will be back.

Had dinner here, they only do dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. People were very friendly and accommodating. The place isn't huge so it will fill up fast. This place is great if your looking for great locally grown food that's away from the crazy touristy parts of pigeon forge. I had the pork chops and potatoes and onion. These pork chops rivaled Patties 1800s settlement in Kentucky which are widely considered the best. Don't skip the pie either. We left very satisfied with everything.

We stayed in Wears Vally and was looking for a good place to eat. We tried a few places from Townsend to Gatlinburg looking for a hometown experience instead of a chain. The food was wonderful and the staff treated us like family. We also had the opportunity to chat with the owner a very sweet lady. I would highly recommend this place.

Elvira and her kitchen staff would be successful anywhere in the country. The menu and the food is FANTASTIC! Unique, well prepared, great presentation and wonderful service. Even the building that that houses Elvira's is the embodiment of her perfection. Thank you for the wonderful meals and best of luck to you! The German Architect who will be back again

We liked lunch so much we went back for dinner. Dinner was an entirely different experience. I'm assuming that b/c they only do it twice/week this is not as well coordinated. Our server was downright rude (but our lunch server was wonderful so I think your experience will differ depending on who you have). Dinner wasn't as good as lunch. Mashed potatoes were cold. They forgot to place the order for one in our party so she waited while we had to eat as our food was already cool. Bottom line is that during dinner try to go when it's slow and hope you get a nicer server who isn't obviously overwhelmed with the dinner crowd!

So so good! My family and I enjoyed eating here for breakfast during our trip to TN. We're from Miami so we are no strangers to good food! We each had a little bit of everything, eggs, bacon, toast, biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. It was all great, my favorite dish was the hash brown casserole!! AMAZING and very tasty!! Besides the great food, they have some of the friendliest staff ever! Will definitely go back again soon.

It was just ok cute restaurant but overall food was just average. The selection was lacking and the sweet potato I ordered was so small two bites and gone. That's why I give it three stars.

  • Heather C.

Went for breakfast with my family of 6. I had the biscuits and gravy and they were very good! The gravy was sweeter than I'm used to, but a sprinkle of pepper and it was great! My mom raved about her french toast and the few bites I took of my son's chocolate chip pancakes were great!! We sat on the screened-in porch and it was a really nice experience. The view was beautiful! The total for our meal (6 meals, an extra side of bacon, 2 OJs, 3 cups of hot chocolate and 2 coffees) totaled just over $60. We will definitely come back when we're in town again!

  • Mike S.

Not a good experience. The kitchen is open and the chefs were annoyed which makes for a bad atmosphere. It's a small menu and the didn't have 30% of it to even serve. I would describe most of the food as not made from scratch and short on seasoning, care, and quality. Can't mess up eggs though. Some guy seated us who said he didn't even work there. A testament to the welcoming southern folk in the area off the strip. Nice drive here and lots of local shopping.

WOW. This place is great! We stopped in solely because it was the first restaurant we saw after leaving from a hiking trip, and we were very hungry, but we weren't expecting much. The inside isn't very big, but its cute and quaint, and our waitress was super sweet. My husband got the Nutella crepes, which he said were amazing, and I got the Cove Combo, which was the tastiest sandwich I've had in a very long time! The food tasted very fresh and came out quickly. We would definitely stop by again if we're in the area.

What a delightful place to enjoy breakfast on the way to Dollywood or the Mountains. Great food, super service, and always cheerful Elvira and her staff to greet us. You can't get better quality food. And you can even watch them prepare your food if you please.

We came here for breakfast after it was recommended by a girl in the cabin rental office when we checked it. Their pancakes are amazing, you must get them if you come here. You can add one on the side for $2, which is well worth it. They're thick and fluffy. I had the sweet and spicy chicken biscuit which was also very tasty. I added gravy to it, which probably wasn't necessary since the sweet and spicy sauce was very flavorful, but the combination of the two was still delicious. My only complaint was it was a long wait for our food, but it was pretty busy and the staff was very friendly. I will be back here again if I find myself in town again.

Really like to support places like Elviras. All the food was very fresh and tasty. All dressing for the salads are made in house. Just call before you go to make sure they are open. Will definitely return.

I hate to be a bringer of a review that'll screw up a restaurants score, but i wasnt impressed with this place. I was supposed to get fries with my cheeseburger, but the oven shut off, and i got chips instead. The burger was overly juicy and a lot spilled onto the plate. Other then that it was ok

Came down to Tennessee for a friends wedding from la, found this place while driving back towards the airport. I sat at the bar and had the mountain man omelet. The food was great and the service was kind and attentive. Would recommend.

Long wait. I am still waiting for my food after an hour! At least they allowed me to connect to their wifi to write this review, so two stars. UPDATE Overall awful experience. There was a wait at the door, then to order, then to get our food, then to pay the bill. The entire visit took two hours. When the food finally came (everyone's plates arrived at different times) it was so disappointing. Eggs were overly runny, hash browns undercooked. The bacon and pancakes were delicious though. Buckwheat pancake with strawberries, the only thing that kept me from walking out of the restaurant. I'm very tempted to drop it down to one star, but that buckwheat pancake was pretty good. But I will definitely never go there again.

I recently visited Elvira's with 20 family members as part of a family reunion. We realized while driving to another activity that lunch was in order - so we hadn't called ahead. The waitress at the door was overwhelmed by the size of our group- but they quickly figured out how to accommodate us. They fed us quickly, and the food was great. Each person's sandwich or crepe was flavorful and filling. I had two small concerns that kept me from giving them 5 stars. 1. The first waitress we saw didn't seem to want us there. It left a little bit of a negative first impression. 2. A cousin ordered the vegetarian crepe, but ended up with bacon in it. Not so stellar. In general, I would come here again, especially with a smaller group.

My husband and I were visiting the area on vacation and were looking for a good breakfast place that was off the beaten path with a more local feel to it. This did the trick! Super cute atmosphere with lots of windows, wood floors, and cheery red tables. The service was fast and friendly...but the best part was the food. It really had that "farm to table" taste and everything was so fresh and delicious! Even though their Facebook page says that they are closed on Sundays, we called and they were open! I think they just started opening on Sundays and as a result, there was a brunch offering rather than a full breakfast. This made us nervous at first...but no worries! I had the spinach feta buckwheat crepe that was huge and so tasty! I couldn't finish it all. My husband had the french toast that came with eggs and bacon. We loved it all. The coffee was not that great but it was fine and very hot with lots of refill offers. WE highly recommend this place and only wish they were open on Mondays so we could go again tomorrow!

Great place. My wife and I found this place one evening returning from a motorcycle ride around the Smokies. Had the pork chop plate and there was so much to eat doggie bags were in order. Could have gotten away with a plate between us. Good service, friendly staff and clean. Next time in the area we will visit again.

Not the best stop for dinner. Fish was not fresh but it did come out of the kitchen fast.

Wears Valley isn't too well know for good eats--I think this is the best breakfast spot, Grandma's has the best biscuits but overall this is best. Very friendly staff, owner stopped by the table and talked about local sourcing of food and quality ingredients. Like others, the gravy is different but I liked the new flavor very much, I think at least oregano was mentioned. Good ham and perfect eggs cooked to order. Saw the meatloaf, looked wonderful. Good luck making it in this tough market!

Very good. We stayed locally in a cabin and thought on our way back home we would stop in and grab us a bite to eat for breakfast. All that we've got to say is, WOW at the size of those pancakes! I had the typical biscuit and gravy with a side of two half done eggs. My wife had there Hot Cake combo. It consisted of two eggs (of choice), bacon, sliced potatoes and a single pancake. She said it was the best pancakes that she has had. Thick and fluffy! They use a different type of spice that this country boy is used to in the gravy but can honestly say, 2 biscuits and 2 eggs smothered in that gravy went down pretty fast. Momma would be proud of me for cleaning my plate! The other good thing about this place, as you walk in, you walk right into the kitchen. We chose to sit there as well. The cooks great you and made us feel right at home. We sat there and left smelling like a country buffet, but we didn't mind to give them the free advertising after we left using that smell.

We visited this cafe twice and really enjoyed each visit. The food is interesting and very well prepared and the staff are very friendly. It is a very well run operation. The staff obviously enjoy working there.

I have 1 word... YUMMY! The food is local and you can taste the freshness! Grits were stoneground. Hubby loved them even though he usually dislikes grits. Caramelized apple crepes had the perfect sweetness and apple crunch. Can't wait for lunchtime!

Not only do they serve breakfast and lunch but on Friday and Saturday evenings they also serve dinners. At this place everything is fresh, nothing from a box, all handcrafted on site. Delicious! We'll be back next week. If you want to go, make a reservation so you'll be sure to get a table. BYOB.

My wife and I have eaten at Elvira's three times in last five weeks and have thoroughly enjoyed our meal each time. The people are very friendly and the service was excellent. They recently opened for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. We hope that continues as it provides a more upscale place for dinner in the valley.

We ate at Elvira's on April 18, 2015 and had a party of 14. We did call ahead and make reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival. The staff was very friendly (including Elvira herself who came over to answer a question someone had). The food was excellent and delivered fairly quickly after ordering. We had a variety of menu items and everyone was pleased with their order. The prices were reasonable as well. The restaurant was clean and very presentable. Cozy and comfortable. I loved the photographs on the walls which are taken by local photographers of local wildlife and such. The prints are also for sale. We will certainly eat here again when we're in Townsend again.

Love love love this place! We ate Sunday brunch and is was incredible! I am planning my next trip to this fabulous cafe in the near future! You can taste the freshness and the love the cooks put into the meals!!!

This food is extremely overpriced! I use the word extremely loosely. A blt and fries was $11 and the portions were very small. They use frozen buscuits and reheat them in the microwave which were so hard you could barely chew it. Avoid this place and stick with something you know! You'll be glad you did

Foodies, rejoice!! There IS a place that we would actually enjoy in this town!! We drove by Elvira's on the way to the caverns, and decided to try it on the way back. Expecting nothing, due to the rest of our bland dining experiences, we were extremely surprised to find amazing food with inventive combinations of flavors, and the most cheerful service around! I had the savory chicken wrap, which was awesome, and so creative!! My daughter and husband, both, had the chicken strips, which were tender, juicy, flavorful, and had the most amazing homemade gravy with it. Side items included a biscuit, which was authentic southern style; apples in sauce, which was really tasty, and mashed potatoes, which were so fresh you could taste it! We finished with a key lime pie to go that was so yummy! I'm so sad we found this on our last day, because we would have driven from Pigeon Forge all the way out here every day for breakfast! Very tasty, fresh ingredients, and surprisingly innovative preparations. Oh, and finally, we met "Elvira," herself. What a fabulous person she is! When we complimented her on our experience, she said, "Well, thank you. I have an amazing team!" She gave the credit to her staff!! You never see that kind of leadership anymore. Good for you! And you can see it in the pride that the staff takes in their job and service; they love working here.

I had the "Mountain Man omelet". A 3 egg omelet with caramelized onions, mushrooms, Red Bell pepper, sausage, bacon and ham. good way to start the day.

What a wonderful restaurant. Adorable building, precious employees and awesome food. Of all the restaurants in the area this was the best. Biscuits and gravy are homemade and scrumptious and the French toast will curl your toes.
