So far I'm not impressed. The first time had to wait over 90 minutes. Last night three couples ahead of us and it still took 20 minutes to place our order. Just like the first time they were out of Shnitzel, which set the mood for the night. Then it took another 15 minutes to get the coke machine refilled. All the mustard sauces were empty. The food was ok. Not something I was impressed with. My wife did enjoy hers which was a vegetable wrap. So for the time being I can't rate any higher than a two star. It just seemed like there still need to be a lot of work done before being prepared for a public opening.

I come every Wednesday for happy hour and I have to say I love this place. The staff is friendly and I love how informative they are on all the food and beer they have. I love the bratwurst and the warsteiner beer is awesome. Please come check them out and I know you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Went there last weekend for the first time and tried the currywurst which came with a nice and crusty roll. It was spicy hot (which i like) but you can get it mild as well. I throughoully enjoyed every bite of my meal and will be going again soon!

We set out to check it out, having read good reviews of the place. Both of us ordered the Doner Plate with spicy yogurt sauce; it came with sides of pommes frites and a cucumber and lettuce/cabbage salad. Good German Spaten beer on tap. The meat on the plate was really good, softly seasoned and then spiced up to taste with the yogurt sauce. The guy behind the counter who took our order was personable and very helpful; food came out quickly. Very clean restaurant, not too terribly atmospheric but efficient and bright and clean...sort of reminded me of the quick food restaurants in The Netherlands and Germany. We'll go back to try the currywurst, for sure. Great weekend lunch spot.

Will never go back. First time we went wanting lamb and they were out. What we had was ok. Second time we went they were out of lamb again. My husband and i both got schnitzel. I got chicken and my husband got pork. He barely had any meat in his. I was eating mine and noticed it was totally raw. I happened to be 9 months pregnant at the time too. So I took it back up there and the cashier finally came over. She was kind of apologetic but I was so worried about whether or not I was going to get sick from it. She walked back to the back and the manager wouldn't even come over. She is the one that cooked it. She told the girl to tell us we could have a free cookie since we didn't want more food. Such a rookie move cooking raw fried chicken. And for her to not come even apologize I will never go back.

I have been here a few times now and I always leave happy! The food is great and the staff is knowledgeable about it and have no problem explaining things to you or giving recommendations. I understand they have some great beer too but I still need to try it. The owner is super sweet! And more than willing to go above and beyond. My sister and I ordered 2 things to share. When she came with our order and we said we wanted to share she went to go cut the items and plate them for us!

One of our new favorite food spots in Knoxville. Delicious German fast food. Staff was friendly and patient. I haven't eaten much German food and some of the food choices were foreign to me. They patiently explained food options. Loved the food! We will be back soon!

With service like this Grujo is here to stay!!! Went in on valentines day because I was cooking German food for my girlfriend. I inquired about the posibility of buying only some potato salad and brochen rolls to accompany our meal. I would assume that a request like this in most fast restaurants would be met with some resistance. Not only did they accommodate my odd request, they gave us our rolls for free because as the awesome girl at the counter said..."it's valentine's day baby". She also told us that "Mama said bake the rolls at 380 degrees for 5 minutes" and sent us on our way. The rolls were awesome (as usual) and so is the rest of their fare. I hope this place is around for a very long time. 5 ENTHUSIASTIC STARS!!

I lived in Germany for 3 years and it's hard to find authentic German food here. This place is great! You won't go wrong. Advice: study the menu online before you go. Unless you know a lot about German food you'll be lost.

Seriously the best food. Everything I have tried has been fantastic! There is a bit of a wait, but it is totally worth it! They have not stopped since they've opened which is a testament to their quality. Not to mention their customer service is amazing!!

The staff was very helpful while I was there. I had the schnitzel(sp?) with Jager sauce and German potato salad. They were both absolutely amazing and I can't wait to get back to the place and eat a meal there!

The line to order food was 45 minutes long (I realize we should not have waited), then it took another 20 minutes before we got our food, and this from an assembly line set up!! (Nothing had to be cooked, just orders put together). The food was not that good. The beef/lamb in the Donner Kebab was stringy and tough. The women taking the orders also served the beers, so had to stop every time someone came up for another beer. There was no one to clean the tables or the floor. I'm unsure why they were so disorganized. I feel like that they have a good idea but need a lot of help making it work.

Literally just left there and finished eating. Having been to Germany numerous times stationed with the military, I was excited to have the food here locally. I understand there are going to be kinks that they will work out in time, but there are issues. They need to double their staff. They are not prepared to take care of the large amounts of people coming thru efficiently. We actually waited an hour in line for German "fast food." The cold station is visible to customers and it was very messy and gross. There's an older gentleman that doesn't do anything but shave kebab while everyone else is running around aimlessly. He may or may not be the owner but he should pitch in a little more to make sure the business thrives. Lastly, ordered the donner kebab and there was barely any meat in it and was mostly cabbage which made it less than satisfying. Also, you walk right pass the food counter and they don't take your order there which is not very efficient on their part. I hope they turn it around.

5 starLet me first start off by saying that if you aren't on the way to Grujo's while you're reading this, you're living your life all sorts of wrong. From the moment you see that beautiful orange color in the horizon, shining brightly on the street corner, happiness fills the soul. Walk in to all sorts of exciting and unique scents as you're greeted by some of the friendliest staff I have ever seen. Catch some eye-candy moments as you watch the staff slice the freshly roasted meat from the rotisserie. Select from a variety of authentic german beers (I recommend the liter) or choose from some of your favorites. Next, spend countless minutes trying to decided exactly what you want. Everything just looks soooooo good!! Place your order with the friendly cashier and have yourself a seat. Your order will be ready shortly. Once you see that beautiful creation in front of you, you'll want to take a mental photo because you don't ever want to forget it. Each bite just gets better and better. Authentic German foods at extremely affordable prices. Do not postpone your trip because you'll surely regret all of the time you wasted.

I visited Grujo's on a Tuesday night with my fiance and his sister. For a Tuesday night it was still very busy, as there was limited seating. The first thing we noticed upon entering was there was only one girl working the front register. She was taking the orders and refilling the beers. We waited probably 5-6 minutes before ordering since she was refilling 3 other people's beers. She was a very nice cashier, but seemed like she needed help managing everything because after we ordered more people poured in and continued to have to wait to order. It took around 10 minutes for our food to be ready. Between the 3 of us we ordered the doner plate and kebab, the schnitzel and a bratwurst. The quality of the food seemed good, the men up front were diligently making the orders and they came out fresh. The restaurant was clean, and the decor was interesting. The seating was a bit cramped and we had to scoot tables around to get in and out for refills. One thing we also noticed was there was a younger girl working there that sounded German that was walking around talking to all the customers. She spent probably 30 minutes talking to one table about the food/Germany, all the while, customers kept coming in and having to wait. Although we think it is great she is trying to be friendly to the customers, she should have also been watching the front counter to see if the cashier needed assistance. Overall, our experience was fair. I can't say anything negative about the food itself, but the service definitely needs improvement. Due to the location and the slow service we probably will not be back, but I would still recommend this to anyone in the area looking for good German food. Just make sure you are not on a tight schedule and have time to spare.

Funky "fast-food" German atmosphere. Served draft German bier in genuine lager glasses or 0.5-l. glass steins, so that is a big plus. Schnitzel and French fries were disappointing. Schnitzel was grisly and unremarkable. For the authentic Euro "pommes frits" experience, I recommend Cru Bistro on N. Gay St. The fries here were a waste of time and calories. But I liked the staff, considering it was a cold, slushy night that no right-minded soul should have been out in, except those of us with cabin fever. I will go back for more draft German bier (several brands) and to try the best of the wurst (sorry couldn't resist). The bread served with the meal was very good. Again, I liked looking at the German maps and postcards on the wall. And I got the glowing buzz I remembered from first drinking German bier in my teens. And I'm 53 now. But, be warned, buzzed driving is drunk driving, so spend some time there relaxing and watching the game on the big screen. Maybe management could get some German music and conversation going there come Oktoberfest, and an outdoor biergarten in the summer with appropriate atmosphere.

Excellent !!! Nuff said good food good German beers good prices. Easy to get to. Emory rd exit off 75. Schnitzel was huge and order of sauerkraut was enough to share. They had something called a European salad and it was really good. Can't list everything in it but was unique

Great food with healthy portions. The lady who took our order alerted us to all the specials and was knowledgeable about the product but after us and the only other table there were served she came out and did this group check thing where she stood in the middle of the floor and asked us all if everything was okay. I'm not sure if this is just how this restaurant operates but it felt rushed and impersonal. We will eat there again.

I was born in Germany and have lived there on and off my whole life. So I know a little bit when it comes to German food. My mom heard about this place and wanted to go try it. I have to say, I wasn't impressed. The food is good, but it's not really something I would go back for. I had the currywurst. It was okay, but I didn't like the sausage they used. Normally something more like a hotdog is used for currywurst, they use something more like a bratwurst (or like a breakfast sausage) for theirs though. And the wait was something else. Their was a line out the door and all of the tables were full. My family and I simply decided to wait and take our food home with us. When we finally ordered our food, the cashier didn't put in my mom's ordered. We didn't notice until our food was done, so she ate a little of my food. And the cashier kept chewing on her lip piercing, which is just something that bothered me. Their idea is really good, but they still need time to perfect it. I might try it again later on, I hope they have it figured out by then.

The wait is definitely worth it. The food was very tasty and I was quite impressed. The portion is large, so you'll even have leftovers for the next day. Make sure to save room for dessert. It was amazing!

The food is just ok. It's more middle eastern food than German food. Super expensive for what you get. I haven't been back since my first visit

First visit here. Small place, but good food. I tried the Currywurst, white brat, with the mild sauce. Great flavor. Do yourself a favor and dip your fries in the curry sauce.
