Delicious. I'm having lunch number twelve with beef cheese quesadilla and taco and enchilada. Great food great service and I don't feel like I've been cheated. And the plate was hot . Some places can't seem to get that right .
This is a pretty good Mexican restaurant. I've been here several times and enjoyed my entree each time. Only complaint would be that almost everytime I go my rice is old and hard. That's one of my fav things :( But other than that overall good restaurant and service.
Horrible. Runny beans, bad quesadillas, and slow service.

Love this place one of my favorites in town
I have tried to give this restaurant a chance as I like to support local businesses. First, the decor is fantastic and the cleanliness of the restaurant is great. You can tell that the owners care and want to provide a good place to eat and take your family. The problem is the food. Every dinner I have had has tasted like frozen dinners I bought at Kroger while in college. The flavor is always off. Even their salad bar is lacking. Unfortunately food is the main reason for eating out and there is much better food in Oakland at all the other restaurants.
First of all, I am a sucker for salad bars. I really don't know what it is about them, and the weirdest thing is that I can buy all of the same components in a grocery store, bring them home, and still not make as good of salad...wtf? Anyway, the salad bar isn't the only reason to come to Olympic Steak and Pizza. They also offer a really clean restaurant, with decent service, a nice family atmosphere, and some other pretty good food options. Food: The first time I went to OS&P I was visiting Memphis because we were getting ready to move to the area. It was lunch and I had another hour or so before I had to be to my next house showing, so on my way down 64 I saw this restaurant and stopped-in. Now, from the get-go I wasn't expecting anything that fantastic out of the food, so it's not like my bar was set that high. I didn't exactly go into OS&P thinking that this was going to get a quality NY Style pizza, or a Steakhouse quality steak. I ordered the salad bar (sucker...), and a calzone. The calzone was definitely not what I would consider a calzone. I mean, maybe for this part of the country it cuts the mustard; but not for a NY'er. The dough is too similar to a Pillsbury Croissant than a pizza dough, the sauce is too chunky so it makes it difficult to dunk the calzone around all of the extra chunks of crap in it, and there isn't that pronounced of a ricotta flavor for it to be considered a calzone. It was disappointing. The salad bar was as awesome as I had expected with a lot of fresh ingredients and a rather delicious banana pudding (though I think it is probably not homemade). My only qualm about the salad bar is that whoever preps their vegetables is an idiot. Yes, I said it...and idiot. THe slices of tomato and cucumber are waaaaaay to thick for a salad. Hey owner...either invest in a mandolin, or teach your prep cooks how to cut things and appropriate size. Eh...either way, salad bar always hits the spot. On two subsequent visits I have tried their regular pizza, and their wings. God...I think buffalo wings are one of those things that you either do right or wrong, and they do them wrong. They were not crispy, the buffalo sauce tasted as if it were straight out of a bottle found in a local grocery store, and the flavor just wasn't what I consider a buffalo wing to be--and I have eaten many o' buffalo wings in my day. The one nice thing about the wings was that it was served with a generous side of bleu cheese -- that I do appreciate. The pizza is pretty good too, and it is all because they cook it properly. The cheese is definitely their saving-grace from a mediocre dough and equally mediocre sauce. Food: 3 / 5 (Unimpressive and pretty basic) Service: Each time I have gone to OS&P, the waitstaff has been attentive, friendly, and considerate. Honestly, that is all I ask for in my waitstaff. Come to my table, greet me, take my orders, make sure my drink is consistently filled, askhow my meal was, and thank me for coming in. If a server does this, I never have an issue with them. Conversely though, I have never been wow'd by the service either. That is no big deal, but it justifies its score. Service: 3 / 5 Atmosphere: I really dig the atmosphere here. Whoever designed the building, the furnishings, and the decor did a fantastic job. The place is always spotless and inviting, it is well lit, and a comforting eating environment. I have absolutely no qualms about the eating atmosphere. They could make it better with servers who go the extra mile and be a little bit happier and more energetic. I know, I know...it's hard to be incredibly enthusiastic when you are a server, though I have had some phenomenal servers over the years. Atmosphere: 4 / 5 (More upbeat, energetic servers would make the experience better) Price: You know, the price is relatively fair for what you get. I think that the salad bar may be a little bit overpriced for what you get; but everything else is what you would expect. I hate the prices of beverages in today's age because I can go buy 3 two liters at wal mart for the same price as some of these 'endless' beverages; but I wont; penalize them for something that is like this across-the-board at all restaurants. Plus, I understand that this is a huge margin item for them in terms of profit. Price: 3 / 5 Concluding Thoughts: In terms of places in Oakland, TN that you can go get a decent meal for a fair price, I think this is certainly one of the best. Fortunately for them though, there is not any competition in the area yet because I think they would have a much harder time if there were. Hold the phone though, I am presently getting my finances in-order, and Oakland, TN may have a brand new place to Yelp at soon. I just hope if it happens, I don't get a critic like myself :-). Seriously though, at the moment, this may be one of the best dining option in Oakland--unfortunately though, it is only mediocre at best.

Best BBQ shoulder in the Memphis area, along with G'town commissary. Potato salad tops all other BBQ joints. Beans very good as well. Not a sit down place, but charming and the folks are friendly. You can browse local made groceries and memorabilia while you wait.
In terms of BBQ, you may think that this Yankee probably doesn't have much authority regarding it. Let me briefly describe my experience with BBQ. I have eaten at some of the premiere BBQ capitals in the US. I have been to NC and had the deliciously tangy mustard sauces; I have lived in Texas and sampled their bold, black-peppery flavors; I have traveled to KC and consumed their paprika-heavy sauces, and in-your-face dry rubs; lastly, I have lived in Memphis for over 8 months now and have eaten at many of this city's best BBQ locations. Does this make me an expert? Maybe...and maybe not? Regardless, I have experience with the whole spectrum of BBQ, and will detail my findings regarding Loven Fresh Baking Company below. Food: The food ranged from surprising, to pleasantly delicious. Let's start with the surprising: The Potato Salad. Wow. I was not expecting that combination of flavors in my mouth. I have had so many potato salads, and this was by far the most unique. It tasted like a sour cream dressing, with chives (or scallions), and bacon. Almost more like a 'Loaded Baked Potato' Salad, then a traditional potato salad. I really, really liked it! Awesome, unique flavors I have not had anywhere else. Also surprising were the Baked Beans. I liked these a lot too. They had a great combination and balance of heat and sweet. I prefer the sauce of my baked beans to be a little thicker...that is my only complaint. I was very fond of these as well. When it comes to BBQ, I am literally crazy for Pulled Pork. I mean, if pulled pork is on the menu, I am ordering it in a mass amount. This is what we did on this occasion as well. So in terms of the meat, I have only eaten their pulled pork. This was underwhelming. It was the dry-est pulled pork I have had in Memphis thus far...and that saddens me. It wasn't offensively dry; but dry enough where it REQUIRED BBQ sauce. I find that great pulled pork sometimes is great with minimal BBQ sauce; like I said, BBQ was required with this pork. Despite the prevalent dry-ness though, the flavor was really nice. It had a great smoke flavor that finished cleanly...no bitterness. The least successful thing we ate was the coleslaw. It lacked flavor in my opinion, and had a little too much vinegar bite for my liking. The BBQ Sauce was good, but it was also the least successful BBQ sauce I have had in Memphis so far. Central BBQ is by far my favorite, and I also have a fondness for Jim and Nick's unique BBQ as well. Loven Fresh's was a little bit forgettable, with very basic flavors. There was no depth to the flavor. Food: Sides (5,5,2 = 4) Pork (3) BBQ (3) = 3 / 5 Atmosphere: N/A. It is a take-out location only Service: The service was friendly, and was exactly what was expected. Service: 3 / 5 Price: The price was actually very reasonable. I think it was about $20 for all three of us. We got the second smallest size of sides (pints I think?), and one large container of the Pulled Pork with a side of BBQ. That really isn't bad for three people. For pretty decent quality BBQ, it was cheaper than three meals at McDonalds, and one million times better. Price: 4 / 5 Final Thoughts: There are VERY FEW dining options in Oakland, TN. In fact, given my 10 years of restaurant experience, I have seriously considered opening one. I think it would make a killing in profit. Anyway, regarding Loven Fresh, I think it benefits from not having any direct competition in the area. Brad's BBQ is down the street, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't really comment on it. I would be willing to bet though, that in the coming years, more and more restaurants will start popping-up, and this may be problematic for Loven Fresh. It is middle-of-the-road BBQ, with some deliciously surprising offerings; but its only purpose for my family would be grabbing something quick, easy, and right down the street if I was in the mood for BBQ and didn't feel like traveling far. I would really like to try some of their sandwiches though, and when I do, I will update this review.
Small joint right on Hwy 64. Has a couple of tables but looks like it is primarily carry out. Tried the BBQ sandwich and the regular is still huge. Packed with tender smoked meat and covered in delish sauce and, of course, slaw if you ask. The hot sauce was perfect. Not really hot but just enough spice to make you appreciate it. The also sell their homemade sauces there. Nice place. Friendly service.

We are new to the Oakland area. Decided to eat at this place for lunch. We sat down order salsa and cheese and drinks. When the young Afrin feller brought out our water, the cup looked dirty. We looked into the cup and it looked like dirty dish water with pieces of shit floating in it. When we showed it to the feller. He acted very casual about it like it wasnt a big deal and just said "ill change it out" we asked AGAIN what was floating around in our cup And he just said ill change it out. It seemed like he knew what is was or this happens often bc he was so laid back about it.he brought us a new one but in the same cup.....! When he came back we told him we wanted to leave and he said ok and acted like this happens a lot and was no big deal. 1st time and last time to go here .
Health department scores 100 and 98. Not sure which one is current but it is hard for an inspector not to find anything wrong so way to go guys. I will give five stars based on today's lunch. Nothing really blew me away but I just ordered from the lunch menu just to fill up. Cheese dip and salsa perfect. And salsa is not too cold. Service was incredibly quick. My plate was hot !!! There are several choices for 5.50 and several more for just $4.00!! The menu looked like it has everything you could ever ask for and had plenty of pictures and is easy to understand. Food was very good, but I have had better beans. They really spared no expense on this building and they hired some of the very best talent to decorated and paint the walls. It is really beautiful. This review was written from the perspective of eating a cheap lunch. If and when I return for a dinner with friends and order some real cooking,I may be a little more harsh, or I may be blown away. I'm just not sure what the kitchen is capable of.
Well if you're not so much into skinny and healthy, then might I recommend trying the #13 off the "mega multi meal" selection? I've never feared sleeping on the 13th floor of a hotel, Friday 13th, an Indestructible man/monster, or a Mexican combo meal that includes an over the top in taste all beef enchilada (with a red sauce that will make you wish you had just ordered the "enchilada meal") an all beef Burrito that slightly lighter version of the enchilada sauce but not as thick or robust in flav-a, and a BIG OLE over sized cheese STUFFED chili rellenos pepper. I a'nt scared of the jinx of silly number 13 nor should you be if your looking for an affordable Mexican meal that is sure to satisfy your cravings in the Oakland TN area at a price will not leave you feeling like you're wallet has been sucked dry by all so scary Count of Dracula. Enjoy yall, and make sure to tip your wait staff well, these guys and girls truly are working at a labor of love. One last very important thing....If you love the guacamole at places like Las Delouses, just ask for the manager and request hand made guacamole. He will usually go and prepare it by hand himself and will all pride let you know that this is what he serves at his own home to his family and friends.

Shogun Japanese Steak & Sushi

7257 Hwy 64

Reviews:
This place is probably not truly a 4 star but when contrasted with the other offerings in Oakland it almost ranks a 5. Think of the stereotypical Japanese Hibachi restaurant; You understand my friend. The atmosphere: Dark and smelling of steaming soy sauce, corny but amusing jokes made in halting english by the grilling "chef", etc. (I always wonder if the bad english skill is part of the act!) Those boat shaped spoons chasing chives floating in a clear based soup....iceberg lettuce and peanut ginger dressing. Menu consists of about 8 or so choices of steak, chicken, shrimp, lobster, etc. Shogun in Oakland is a little smaller than most restaurants of its kind. It is found in a strip center next to a Kroger, so not exactly the picture of a classy dining establishment. The atmosphere inside however, is far better than you might think and the staff provides courteous attention. A little overpriced for what it delivers, but all in all, Shogun delivers a pleasant experience with good food quality and better than average service.
I must have come on a particularly good day, or maybe I was really in a good mood -- or maybe I was craving Asian-style cuisine so much that it clouded my judgement. Either way, nearly all of my previous ratings stay the same with the exception of the food. The food quality was way, way down on subsequent visits. I strongly recommend travelling to Arlington and going to Panda China instead. New Scored: Food: 2 / 5 Service: 4 / 5 Atmosphere: 3 / 5 Price: 3 / 5 Food: It just is not something I want to eat when compared to other restaurants in a reasonable distance. Though, in Oakland, this will probably be the best you will get. Price: Though the price is fair for what is ordered, the quality isn't high enough anymore to support the cost. It is now just an average price, for decent food. Final Thoughts: As previously mentioned in this update, there is some pretty good food out at Panda China if you are looking for a quality take-out place. Good General Tso and egg rolls.
I had the four seasons dinner and beef lo mein as a takeout order. They gave me a free sweet and sour chicken with the order. The food was tasty and smelled great however the portions were much smaller than usual for chinese takeout. The pricing is on par with other chinese take out spots in the Memphis area. They also do not answer their phone, which is inconvenient when wanting to place a take out order. Overall my experience with Shoguns takeout was just average. Just normal run of the mill chinese take out. Nothing special, but good enough to pass the grade.

Wish there was a 2.5 selection. It is just okay. Not memorable at all. I have eaten here 3 times and I can't even remember what I had if that tells you anything. And my whole life revolves around food. It has to be pretty lackluster for me to not even recall what I had. But I have to say that the "banana pudding" (banana whipped cream) is the worst banana pudding I have ever had. It is literally whipped cream mixed with bananas and a few hard cookies. It reminds me of what some BBQ place in the north would make and call it "southern style". Um....no. I ordered a pint of it and when she handed me the bag I thought I had the wrong order since the bag felt empty. But that was because whipped cream weighs about as much as air. All I can say is that mess ain't no nanner puddin'. It is like blasphemy to even call it banana pudding.
Stopped by to get take out for lunch - The BBQ is horribly dry and chopped up like hay. Disappointed that you could ruin BBQ like this. The BBQ bean serving in my take away container was terribly small and there was little to no sauce to make up for the dry meat. Very disappointed
Love the banana pudding they make it fresh So good also love they have a drive thru window
