One of my family's favorite restaurants in middle TN! The service is always fast and good. The food is fresh and delicious. Their prices can't be beat in this area. Must try: fish taco and shrimp taco. Their guacamole is great too.

Oscar's is on the move! the original spot in Franklin is a treasure but out of the way! I am glad they are making themselves more accessible by adding stores. Without getting deep in the discussion of "Mexican Food" let's just say that these tacos are similar to mexican food offered in California by Americans with a Mexican-American culture. Ok, I'll dip into the discussion just a bit by stating that Nashville's Mexican food scene is dominated by places such as Las Palmas which is a bad version of cuisine from the areas of Mexico that are not recognized for good food. The hallmark taco is the shredded beef taco which is big on "beef" flavor as opposed to being over salted with "taco" flavors. The best part is the taco is not loaded with orange grease! This big beef taco with fresh lettuce and good mexican cheese awaits your choice of salsa for a good meal. They offer a $5 plate with two shredded beef tacos, rice, beans and a drink before 3pm. Good stuff.

1st why not 5 stars? The seating area could be rearranged to be alittle more pleasant. Food was great, huge portions, hot chips, fresh guacamole and nice location this side of Brentwood. We had tortas, quesadillas and chips.

Closest thing to true so cal taco shop that I have found since moves away. Try the pastor burrito or fish tacos with chips and queso.

The best tacos & nachos in Williamson County!! Oscars is fast whether I order over the phone or in person. I always custom order something on my order and they are always great about making changes. The Rolled Tacos are a must purchase!! For a little over $3 it's filling and the Mild sauce is great!!! Get the extra sour cream and you'll be full all afternoon!

I gave this place a high rating because it gave me what I wanted, inexpensive, delicious food. Quick and yummy. Better than fast food, but priced well for a simple meal. I was in and out. The atmosphere really isn't much, but that isn't why I went there. This will be my main quick meal pick in Nolensville. I look forward to trying the fish tacos that everyone is raving about. I am a fan.

Unassuming small location, but fantastic quality and taste! Oscar's Taco Shop at this location quickly became my favorite Mexican restaurant. It's a fantastic place for a quick bite, or a nice to-go order. Food is always excellent, and plenty of variety on the menu. Although it's not healthy, their steak/chicken fries are delicious. Basket of fries, with steak (or chicken if you prefer) strips, loads of cheese, and sour cream... it's amazing. Their full order of nachos is enormous - feeds 2 people.

Loved it! Small simple place but very reasonable pricing and great flavor. Friendly staff. Will definitely return many times!

I am in love with the fiery shrimp burritos. It's my favorite meal. Unfortunately I can only enjoy it once a month. I also love the carne asada burrito. It's a great local spot.

Over priced for bland, disappointing food. The "carnitas" were not carnitas at all. They were small cubes of super dry pork that were pretty inedible. The biggest disappointment was the enchiladas. Always my favorite, I've ordered them at pretty much every Mexican restaurant I've been to. They've varied between the different places, but never before have I had enchiladas that were sweet. The sauce truly tasted like it had sugar in it! This went past disappointing to land fully on gross! I can't fault the service or the cleanliness, but save yourself the money and the disappointment and keep driving to Taco Bell.

  • Chris J.

Meh. The place is overrated. The food was mediocre and overpriced for what you get. The enchilada sauce tasted terrible. However, I give it more than one star because the churro was somewhat redeeming.

A little different than your normal Mexican Restaurant. Pretty tasty a good middle of the week kind of stop and go great for take out on the way home.

Great and friendly staff. The food is wonderful, I have though one time ran into dry food. BUT usually the food is wonderful.

Ever since I moved to Nashville 12 years ago, I've missed my favorite taco shop out west, Roberto's. I can't believe it, but I've finally found something that compares! I've only been here once (where the heck have I been??), but can confidently give them five stars. I'm mostly judging them based on their strong similarity to one of my favorite all time taco shops. I just can't help myself. The thick, crispy tacos, jammed packed with shredded beef (or chicken, shrimp, and more), scream California-style taco goodness. I also had a wonderful tostada, and the chips served with salsa were warm and fresh. The clients I was with raved about their shrimp tacos and chimichanga. The service when I was here was friendly. My client had a kid who made a bit of a mess, and they were very cool about it. There's not one location that's convenient to me.. Downtown is but you have to pay for parking. But I don't care, I will be back.. and soon!

Food is always fresh and good. Not fancy. Just a taco stand. And, for some reason, they lost their beer license. :-(. Still a good local spot.

I've been eating at Oscar's since it was originally called Taco Express off of Columbia Ave. in Franklin. It's been a pleasure to watch the growth of the restaurant now into multiple locations. I like to take some of the credit for Oscar's in Nolensville, as during my move out here, I kept pushing the owner to open a place. Apparently each of the locations is run by one or more of the 6-7 brothers (not sure the exact number) so it is a true family run affair. Now to the food. I think Oscar's provides the perfect blend of a mixture of familiar tex-mex style and more authentic Mexican that you'll typically find along the Nolensville Rd. corridor. My favorite menu items are the Carnitas, Asada and Fish tacos as well as the Chicken and Shimp Quesadillas. I know quesadillas aren't your typical "authentic" dish, but they do a great job loading them up with guac, sour cream, cheese, meat, etc.. If you want to try something different, then I would recommend the tortas, which are Mexican sandwiches. Also, I would highly recommend their churros for dessert which are outstanding and freshly made.

The food was okay like a Moe's or cafeteria Mexican but on top of that it is completely void of any real atmosphere. It's just like vanilla and it is just okay. You do get a lot of food for the money and the portions are huge.

As good as it gets! Oscar's is the best Mexican food you can get in Nashville. I love the two Franklin location, but this is my favorite now as it is a short drive from my house. I've heard some debates that the original Franklin is the best, but honestly I've never noticed a difference. Do yourself a favor and try the Carne Asada Torta. The perfect (but messy) sandwich!

  • Courtney A.

Great prices for really good food. I always get the taco salad and hubby gets tacos. The homemade shells for both are amazing and keeps us coming back. Please get the churros for dessert!!! They are cheap too!

I will never eat here again. Last visit I noticed their utility room door was open and saw a dirty mop sitting on top of a crate of produce. Now I did not inquire so maybe they were throwing it out anyway, but if they are careless enough to display that lack of basic kitchen hygiene there is no way I am risking it. I did like like their food, not exceptional but decent (especially for Nolensville where options are slim), and would have preferred ignorance but unfortunately knowledge came crashing in this time!

Service was friendly and prompt, food hot and delicious, tables quickly cleaned, we'll be back!

I'm sorry, but every time I walk in this place it smells bad! It smells like a dirty mop. Grosses me out.

Well since they first opened they have fresh brewed tea. The chips and salsa, not free, are ok. The soft tacos are pretty good. It's okay. Not great. If you just really want local Mexican food, I have had worse.

We frequently get their food for take out. Excellent, fresh food and no push back to prepare it a little differently. We dislike pico and they are happy to leave it off. I've tried the Enchiladas, Tacos, Nachos and my daughter loves the bean and cheese burrito. It's a simple but very tasty place to eat. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the wait for the food is never long. Yes, you do pay for the chips and salsa but the meal overall is a whole lot cheaper than anywhere you get "free" chips. Wish they delivered!

Our 2nd visit and it was great again! Fresh food, friendly staff, quick and inexpensive. Burritos were filled to the max with meat, quesadillas were delicious and the chips and salsa is a must. Love, love, love the salsa. And the verde sauce had the perfect heat. Will be back soon!

My family loves Oscar's Taco Shop! We've eaten here a few dozen times, and I've tried most of the meals on their menu. Our favorites are the California burrito, Carne Asada burrito and the chocolate nachos. Staff is always friendly. They make my socially awkward son feel like a superstar by calling his name when he walks in, and asking if he wants "the usual". It's like Norm at Cheers. He grins ear to ear. The burritos are huge and delicious. The price is right. Atmosphere is nothing special, but it's a taco shop, not a fancy Mexican restaurant. It's five stars for what it is. I recommend them to friends all the time..

  • Latanya C.

Our second time here! Excellent! Not only is the food delicious but the staff is super nice. This is our second time and we had shrimp quesadilla and beef tacos. The quesadilla was NOT loaded with cheese but loaded with good sized shrimp, tomatoes, onions and it was HUGE. Very tasty. My hubby had the beef tacos. and I've never had tacos full of soooooo much meat! I also love their pinto refried beans. We will be back!

  • Kristin W.

Everything I have had here is good! My favorite is the carne asada tacos. The staff is friendly, the place is always clean and the food is great. I like eating here when we have our 2 small kids with us because it's quick. The only downside is that they got rid of Coke and now have Pepsi. I know it's a personal preference thing, so I still gave them 5 stars!

I have to admit I'm a Mexican food snob. I haven't found many restaurants in this area that do Mexican well. Oscars was excellent! The salsa was fresh and flavorful and the chips crisp and light. I ordered the Carne Asada platter and it was delicious. All of it: the rice, beans, guacamole, tortillas and meat. Service was fast and friendly and prices were good. I will definitely be back!!

  • Amy K.

Oh yeah! I've been here a few times. Nice clean food, fast and friendly service. I had the vegetarian burrito, my handsome baby daddy had the taco salad. We were both happily fed with money to spare in our pockets. We'll be back!

"Taco Truck" Tacos at Static Locations I like places that serve great food at a great price. I don't want to invest in ambience or decor. I want great food at a great price and this local small business has brought So-Cal mexican to the Nashville area. Great tacos on corn tortillas cooked to order. No pre-cooked meats in a stainless steel /plastic container like all the wanna be subway style mexican chains. They offer a plethora* of meats for their tacos, burritos, tortas, chimichangas, and enchiladas. Best fish taco I can find around Nashville. Just wish they had "tacos de lengua" (tongue) tacos. The variety is still extensive and what they do, they do well. Wouldn't mind a few slices of radish on the tacos but maybe thats not the So-Cal way. The burritos are huge. At least 80% meat and theres minimal "filler" only guacamole and pico de gallo. The prices and service is great! So is the mild/hot taco sauce and salsa. I cant wait till they expand closer to the downtown Nashville area. That way I can convert my co-workers from the boring every corner mexican restaurant to fresh traditional So-Cal mexican fare. *Three Amigos!(1986) lol. Jefe: I have put many beautiful pinatas in the storeroom, each of them filled with little suprises. El Guapo: Many pinatas? Jefe: Oh yes, many! El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas? Jefe: A what? El Guapo: A *plethora*. Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora. El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? Jefe: Why, El Guapo? El Guapo: Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has *no idea* what it means to have a plethora. Jefe: Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

this place is delicious- price value is excellent and the best fish tacos I have ever had- and I have tried many. The only way they could improve is if you're eating there, the ambiance is pretty lame- very plain, no decor. But it's a fairly new place so maybe there are plans for that.

fast casual, family owned California style taco shop. variety of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. counter service, no drive thru window in this location. The al pastor taco is very good, but my favorite is the breakfast burritos with potatoes. Very good with the green sauce.. This location was formerly a Fat Mo's hamburger shop.

Love this place! Their chips and salsa among the best I have ver had. The prices are great and the staff are really friendly. I prefer this location to the one in Cool Springs. I've never tried the original location in downtown Franklin, but I hear very good things!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
