Perhaps out in Nolensville, where you can choose from Martin's, Uncle Bud's and Sonic, people are just so happy to have another choice, a place like Nana's can get 4 stars. We took a visit based on the voice of the yelpers and would recommend that you stick to Martin's. From the atmosphere to the food - bland is the best word to decribe our experience. Our waiter was friendly enough, but but didn't really seem to know the menu well. When we got to the counter to pay, we probably added 5 minutes to checkout just for the owner to figure out his notes on the ticket. In generally, the vegetables seemed to be mostly straight from the can with very little seasoning. Roast beef was reasonably good but covered with overly salty gravy. Finished with coconut pie which was good but not great, and certainly not worth the drive.

Such a letdown. I hate giving a family run business a bad review but I just can't give more than 2 stars. 2 is actually generous. I'll start by saying their sweet tea & their gravy are delicious! All of our food was barely warm with the mac & cheese served cold. The pot roast was dry, the mashed potatoes were def instant, the cuke/tomato salad was simply doused in Kraft Italian dressing & the hamburger steak was burnt and dry. We have heard great things about this place & we were very let down. Not sure if it was an off day or it's always this bad. Sadly we won't return a second time.

Excellent food, great service, and clean! I couldn't have been happier with the food. Everything was awesome. Our server was a doll (shout out to Brittney and her cute freckles!) and made sure we had everything we needed, checked back often, and was quick with requests. The food got to us quickly and we were brought out corn bread upon arrival. Thanks, Nana's! We'll be back.

Everything you need to know about a Meat and Three....this is the place. Nolensville is the cutest country town with down to earth country folks. I loved this place. If you are Nashville? Come down check out the town's Amish Store, antiques shops and then head over to Nana's. The Banana pudding bread is awesome!!!!!!! Note: if you show up late, you may not get what you ask for...if its busy the good stuff is gone, like Mac and Cheese. you just gotta add that to the plate. Worth every nickel and worth a drive if you from outta town. I'll be back!!!

We've lived in Nolensville since September and we're finding that there are some real gems here when we want to have a quick bite and not haul ourselves downtown or to Franklin. Nana's Diner is brand new to Nolensville, it's only been open a few weeks. I stopped in for lunch today. It's a Meat & Three, so one knows what to expect. I like a M&3 when I want comfort food and Nana's fit the bill just fine! Very friendly staff, the place really has the congenial feel of a neighborhood restaurant. The food was quite good, I could only finish half so the portions are generous. I also had half of a dessert (yellow cake with chocolate frosting) and could have easily polished off the whole thing because it was d-e-licious. I'm feeling smug because of my admirable self control. I know we'll be back to Nana's several times!

We went here a while back and I have been meaning to write this review for a while but a friend asked about it yesterday and here is what I told her. I really really wanted to like it but I couldn't. I need to add my review to Yelp but even for old fashioned home cooking it was bland. I have decided that if a restaurant is at least half full of customers by 5pm and they are primarily over the age of say 75, turn and run. Lunch it's hard to judge by time but still can judge by age. I have found it to be true enough times that it is one of Melissa's Rules (like Gibbs' on NCIS). It was Friday and the special was catfish. We asked what was special about the Friday night catfish special vs the catfish on the menu - it had hushpuppies for the same price. REALLY, you added a couple of hushpuppies and that made it the Friday night special? Jeff had that and it was okay. I love fried pork chops so I chose that based on the recommendation of our rather young waiter. What makes a pork chop irresistible is that layer of fat around the edges and the sweetness of the meat clinging to the bone. My favorite places for pork chops know me and know that the uglier the chop, the better and select them especially like that for me. What was I served at Nana's? A couple of flavorless, overly thick slabs of pork loin sans fat, sans bone, with the breading heavy and not clinging to the meat. I ordered some greens and mashed potatoes and gravy as my sides if I remember correctly but I tried Jeff's sides and I know we had some sort of beans also. The greens were so bland that no amount of pepper vinegar and salt could season them. If things are not seasoned properly from the start, there is almost nothing you can do to save them and these were obviously one of those. The mashed potatoes were not even room temperature and the gravy was not hot enough to help warm them. As we were getting ready to leave, we heard others complaining about their steak special. I normally try to give a place a second try but each time we pass by my stomach begs me not to stop. Oh and while Nana herself might be there, I didn't find this place feeling particularly homey or welcoming and the service was at best average. There you go - my no holes barred review. I'll stick to Bolton's Spicy Chicken & Fish, Danguire's, or Skillet's for my pork chops and meat and three.

A nice, locally owned business in the heart of Nolensville. Family friendly, that is to say usually packed with kids. They do also currently (Jan '12) offer a kids eat free night on Tuesday with paying adult. Small, standard menu plus daily specials & sides. Nana's does usually post a copy of the daily specials/sides/desserts on their facebook page if you want to know what's happening. We live nearby and this is the kids' favorite place to eat in Nolensville. This is likely because of the desserts. As mentioned by other reviewers, they offer solid portions of pie, pudding or cake for low prices. Not sure if it's all homemade or not, but all of the desserts are good. Meal portions are sensible - that is to say, not massive like you find at some other places. That also helps keep prices low. So you may not receive an overflowing plate of grub, but it's more than enough for most diners. My one gripe -- they only serve breakfast on Saturday mornings. They do open around 1030 Sunday morning but only serve the regular menu during those hours. It would be great if they would expand breakfast options on Sunday or even as all day options - at least that's my $0.02. Nolensville has several good dining options these days: Martins BBQ, Uncle Buds, Amico's Pizza, Nana's Diner, Oscar's Tacos and even Mama's Java lunch specials. If you're up for a little antiquing or small town living, head out to Nolensville and save room for dessert.

Sooooo happy that Nana's exists in Nolensville. The coconut meringue pie is still an edible mountain of awesomeness. We finally went on fried chicken night and I've gotta say it's really good. As is the brown gravy on the mashed potatoes. As are the interesting and innovative sides like watermelon and cucumber salad (!) Still friendly service and a welcoming vibe. I'd be willing to pay another $1-2 per entree if they used the money to fix the place up (the seat on our booth was ripped and taped), but as it is, Nana's offers incredible value and a really fine Southern diner experience.

I got to stop here in early December, 2011, based on four reviews for four and a half stars. I have to say that Nana's held their own solidly. Got to sample the meatloaf and the pot roast. The three sides I had were spectacular, really, and I had a hard time narrowing it down. Every single item was good and hearty without skewing into too sweet or too sour. Their chess pie was spectacular, and the sweet tea was perfectly made. I'd be glad to stop in on any future visit to the Nashville area.

I have wined and dined with the best of them and Nana's fits nicely in that group. Not only are the servers courteous and helpful if you need anything like a fork you dropped on the floor, or more napkins - the entire ambiance of this great restaurant is like eating with your family, even if you're eating by yourself. The owner, Nana herself, is the platinum blonde, with the welcoming smile, usually at the front counter. The picture of the catfish on this site doesn't compare to the catfish you order, which is so big it hangs off both sides of the plate it's served on. The side dishes taste just like home made because - they are! What a concept. If you're looking for a great soup or popular meal choices, you "must" stop in to Nana's Diner. You'll feel glad you did, then you can write your story too.

We drove past this place when we got into town. It's a cute little diner off the road. I had been hearing about a meat and three, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I got the ham and mashed potatoes w/ gravy and sweetened corn. It was good. The ham was a little too salty for my taste, but the corn and potatoes were tasty. The prices were fair but the portions were a little small. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. Overall it was a good experience.

Perfect. A darling little diner sitting among the cutest antique shops. The food here is classic southern meat the three, it does not disappoint. The roasted chicken, catfish, ham, all sides and veggies and banana pudding are alllll deliciousssssssss, I can't wait to come back and have some more. Very cute atmosphere and very friendly staff.

We decided it was time to try one of the meat & three restaurants that the Nashville area is so famous for. But when we saw the specials at Nana's, we decided that the meat & three could wait. My wife had the tuna melt and really loved it. But I saw that they had a tuna-stuffed tomato, and just had to try it. There is something about a big, ripe, homegrown tomato that just can't be beat. The tuna salad was also very good. I really like the little bits of hard-boiled egg in my tuna salad.

If I had written this review when my kid sister and I went to Nana's back in April.... it would be getting 4 stars. But unfortunately for Nana, I have returned a few times... and it's been awful. I have gotten take out since then, and it's been a disaster every time. The BBQ is bone dry. The meat loaf is a greasy orange mess. The sides are bland. And the corn bread is a hockey puck. I don't know what the problem is. Can they not make a to go order taste the same as their food for dining in? Sorry Nana. But I'm done taking a 20 minute drive for mediocre food.

Update: I haven't been to Nana's in a while. After my previous visits, I thought I would be good to go. (This is not a knock on their friendly service, as it is always excellent). The food was just bland, boring. The Mac n cheese had no cheese flavor, the corn was straight out of one of those frozen creamed corn rolls you can get at the grocery store and the sausage and kraut were pitiful. The corn bread was as another yelper said "hockey pucks". I really thought Nana's would have improved, but this was not great food at all. Nothing like other meat & 3s in the Nashville area. If you like boring, come here. Sorry, but I won't be back. Go to Arnold's or Bishop's. Not worth the drive. Nolensville doesn't have a rival for them and that's a shame. Lots of $$ to be made for some good food down that way. :(

We enjoy visiting Nana's as it really does feel like visiting Grandma's. Nana is always present, super sweet to the kids, and the prices are reasonable. Tips Tuesday's night is kids night and a good choice Also any night she makes chicken dumplings = also a good choice Stay away from the hamburger steak as it lacks flavor Order dessert!

This is a great local place to grab some homestyle food. My son particularly likes the country fried chicken night almost every week. We get a lot of takeout from Nana's and it is always ready, always right, and still tastes fresh when we get it home. The best thing is the convenience, but I think I might drive a few miles to enjoy it as well.

Fabulous place nestled in quaint Nolensville. Their chicken salad is amazing. It has cranberries and pecans which make it extra special. The Mac and cheese is incredibly creamy and delicious. Terrific service!! I will go back the next time I am in the area.

Loved this place. Went there for the first time after driving by for months and was NOT disappointed. Service was amazing as Brittany did a fantastic job and the food was delicious. Had the double bacon cheeseburger and fries. My girlfriend had to actually order another side of the broccoli salad as it was delicious. Just like Arnold from Terminator... We will be back... Soon.

Nana's is a great small town meat and three. Everyone in our party was very happy with what they ordered. The meatloaf is outstanding. Save room for dessert, because the pies are wonderful. This restaurant is very family friendly. Kids eat free with the purchase of an adult meal on Tuesday nights.

I can't believe I've never reviewed Nana's! I have been going there since it opened. I usually never give five stars but the experience I've had warrants it. I can only speak to the chicken and dressing and chicken and dumplings. So, good. But what makes Nana's great is the family atmosphere. When my Husband and I had our first child this year my Mother-in-law got us a gift certificate. I would pick up the food and carry our son inside. It only took them seeing me and staff brought my food to the car. They are a good family with a great product.

I and my family made a return visit during the very busy Buttercup Festival around lunch time. The place was completely packed. Our experience from greeting to paying the bill was extraordinary. The teamwork by all the attentive staff was very impressive. I had the catfish, turnip greens and white beans. All were perfectly seasoned, hot and served with a smile. I even got the rare dessert of chocolate meringue pie. We will be back.

Nana's Diner is an excellent addition to the tiny town of Nolensville. It's a great place to stop in and have dinner after a long day. The staff is friendly and super attentive. Ever worry about how clean a restaurant is? Does it make you a little nervous? Me too - BUT - this place is unbelievably clean! Getting a 100 on a health inspection is a huge plus in my book. Another plus is the price. It's easy to get a table, you quickly get your food, and the bill doesn't make you suck in all of the available air. Favorite things to eat ... grilled cheese on TX toast with vegetable beef soup. Another favorite is the tuna melt and fries. (and I'm not even a tuna melt kind of gal) The toast is never soggy and has the right amount of crispiness. The only reason I didn't give Nana's 5 stars is the vegetables. The baked beans are super good, but the others do need a little work. Not a show stopper for me. The staff offers to let you try just about anything on the menu - and I can't think of many other places that will do that. The owners sincerely want you to enjoy your meal.

I have been here twice. The first time was ok, but the second time was awful all the way around. The first time we went I got the fried catfish and 3 sides. The catfish was delicious, but the sides left a lot to be desired. The service was good. The second time I went it was terrible, and the response from the owner is what is making me give it one star. I again ordered the fried catfish and 3 different sides this time. We waited a while to order and 45 minutes for food. We were seated near the kitchen so I could hear all the servers (and a person who I later learned was the owner) complain about diners. They were mad that the patrons were complaining about the food. When we finally got the food the server said, "it took so long becuase you got something fried and that always takes longer." That is a bit strange but ok... the catfish was a lot different from my first experience. This time it was 2 small filets. One was dry, the other crumbled because it was 90% breading, very little fish. The pinto beans were so salty I couldn't eat them. My 2 year old who loves pinto beans wouldn't eat them either. The pan-something-corn tasted like canned cream corn, and was served room temp-- gross. The hashbrown caserole was cold, dense, and mushy. After waiting a while I flagged down my server and showed her the catfish. She looked annoyed. She said I could get more catfish, or another "already made" meat if I didn't want to wait. The other person at my table had the bbq chicken, and had told already told me it was dry. I said I came for catfish and I really didn't want another meat. I told her we had waited 45 minutes for food and I couldn't wait that long again. I asked her to just take my meal off. She said ok, and took the uneaten plate away. This other women had been walking around the restuarant the whole time and had been scolding the servers for not delivering corn bread quickly. Turns out she was the owner. When we got up to pay the owner walked up told the cashier to take 1/2 off the meal and walked away. She never said a word to us. I asked the cashier who that was and why she was saying to take "1/2 off" of a meal that wasn't eaten. She went over to the owner, who turned around and started talking to me from across the room saying I had ate part of the first filet so I only get half off and turned around again. I told her 90% of the meal wasn't eaten and it was bad all the way around after waiting 45 minutes. She said "I serve the best catfish in this town and we don't discount ever." Ok then. This place obviously does not stand behind their food, and this women is in denial. I can only image how the food in the back is being prepared and held when this is the second time the sides were served cold.

Had breakfast here this morning - our first time to visit Nana's and probably the last. The wait staff were all friendly and we got our coffee and sweet tea served to us as soon as we sat down. As for the food we ordered, it took over 30 minutes to come out. All we ordered was bacon, eggs & an omelet. How long can that take? When I saw another table, that was seated quite awhile after we were, get their food, I thought maybe I should check to see if our ticket got lost. But, a few more minutes and ours finally came out. My egg was cooked the way I requested and the bacon was crispy as I requested. My husband's omelet was very small and filled with processed orange cheese (not sure what else we would've expected). It did not look appetizing to me at all, but he ate it. I was glad they had an "a la carte" area on the menu so I could just order the plain egg and bacon. I don't eat the potatoes, toast, or biscuits that come with most of the meal and always hate to pay for food I don't eat. When I did mention to the waitress that it took way too long to get our food and asked why, she proceeded to tell me about how the cook cooks the orders as they come, cooks one order at a time, and had a large party come in before several smaller tables (ours included) came in. When we went to the register to pay, the owner apologized for the wait and said he is trying to figure out how to put a larger grill back there to allow the cook to put the orders out faster and mentioned he is also cooking lunch at the same time. I'm too impatient to wait that long for my food. Others may not mind sitting for close to an hour to eat breakfast. I do.

Have lunch here for the very first time on Mother's Day. Considering how extra busy the restaurant was going to be we were very pleased with the service. Everybody was very friendly. They did a great job of getting people seated, served, and out. My MIL, who is hard to please with food actually said the food was good! It's good country cooking at a reasonable price and a hometown atmosphere.
