My fiance and I have stayed at Christopher Place twice now. We stayed in the Mountain Sunrise room both times because of it's comfort and gorgeous view. Our first visit was somewhat spontaneous, as we found a Groupon back in spring 2011 and stopped for a night during a road trip. The people at Christopher Place were welcoming and did anything they could to make our stay comfortable. We returned this year after a night of camping in the National Park, and it was just as wonderful. We ate in the restaurant - such delicious food, if only we could have finished it all! We had breakfast the next morning - parmesan eggs benedict - which was also amazing. We cannot recommend staying at Christopher Place enough! It's a wonderful escape from every day life, and we only wish we could have stayed longer.

"Resort" billed as intimate with "fine dining" that's really not even as good as my family's cooking. I am so upset that we paid extra for dinner and to stay here - I would have been better off anywhere in North Carolina (maybe next time I will be smarter). The "chef" didn't even ask how we wanted the steaks she just charred them. Her vegetables were the worst I've ever tasted and she didn't understand what tiramisu means. They very much oversell on the Internet and the photos are very deceiving . It's not even up to par for a B and B let alone a resort. The room is odd and the tub is outside the bathroom (a later addition). The coffee is instant and tastes worse than a hospital! This isn't even a good B and B - we passed on the breakfast twice and the time we didn't it was cold. It was hard to get tea and they couldn't grasp the notion of "full pot". The "gym" is a sorry excuse for some outdated machines i had To fix and it is the bottom floor of a rented unit. The sauna is an add on to an existing bathroom. It's not charming it's just a poorly restored old house and moneymaking scheme. There's very little effort and it was a total waste of time and money. I would not recommend a stay .

My wife stayed here for two nights in the Sir Charles room. The room was very cozy and nice. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows were very soft so that gave me a little neck pain which I can't blame them for. Most of the staff members were friendly and they pretty much stay out of your way when you're there which I didn't mind at all. The view from there backyard of the Smoky Mountain was great! The sunrise looked amazing over mountains. My wife and I are cityfolks so it was nice to see God's creation rather than man-made skylines. We only ate breakfast there and it all tasted amazing every morning. I regret not getting their dinner which I have no doubt that it would've tasted just as amazing. Anyways, their scones they sometimes serve for breakfast was the best! Fair warning for the Sir Charles room though... there's this red cardinal that bull rushes your window every morning starting at around 7am. Luckily, my wife and I usually get up that early anyways.

We can't wait to go back! The resort is stunning and relaxing, the food is among the best you will find in the region, and the rooms are gorgeous and comfortable. We were impressed with the wine program--the house wines are not great, but the rest of the wine list was put together by someone who certainly knows what he or she is doing. The only slightly negative part of our experience was speaking with the man who I assume is the owner. He is nice enough, but not really meant for the hospitality industry. For example, when I asked how the Chardonnay was, he said they wouldn't have it if it was not good. Thanks... That doesn't tell me whether it's oaky, sweet or dry, etc. He also seemed preoccupied with finding a way to blame guests whenever anything went wrong. But really, those issues were so small, and the phenomenal staff more than made up for that awkwardness. Long story short- Christopher Place is perfect for couples, full of comfortable luxury, and a stop I would highly recommend.

Visited here for my birthday weekend and it was very nice. Marston checked us in and he seemed like a pretty nice guy; he was a liiiiiiiiittle short with us, but I think it had more to do with a language barrier than anything else. Later on in our trip, one of the other workers explained he doesn't normally check people in so I guess I should consider myself lucky he took the time to check us in! The Sir Charles room is super nice and roomy. We had plenty of room to get out laptops and do some work in the little sitting area. We also had breakfast served in the same sitting area every morning we were there and it was delightful! We enjoyed the third floor entertainment area and actually played a few games of pool. The little bird that starts bull rushing the window in the morning is so cute and didn't bother us at all. We went for a hike on the trail directly across from the house and we had company from one of the workers dogs. He followed us right up the mountain and guided us all the way down. It was a super fun touch and made me feel a little less alone out there in the woods on that huge mountain. The house itself is old and you can hear people walking around on the stairs and talking loudly, but overall there was quite a bit of privacy and I very much enjoyed our trip. Can't wait to find a reason to go here again!!

I'm not sure what the bad review was about. This place is fantastic. My boyfriend brought me here for our second anniversary and it was beyond amazing. We drove up from Florida and got in kind of late. The owner saw us driving up the hill and he came and met us at the front door. Now, it was eleven at night and the office closed at nine. He even brought us up a couple of drinks to help us unwind from a long trip. The next morning, the breakfast was amazing and our server made some excellent suggestions for what to do for the day. Our room was the Mountain View room and it was wonderful watching the sun rise over the Smoky Mountains while sitting on our balcony. Everything was very clean and I felt like a rockstar. I really can't imagine a better bed and breakfast. The beds were beyond comfortable and I could have laid in bed all day just enjoying the beautiful room. They even had little books in every room detailing things to do in the area. I didn't know what to expect when we booked the reservation but I have never had so much fun in my entire life.

The first thing that went wrong...my card was charged an inappropriately high amount when the website said my credit card information was to 'reserve' the room and wouldn't be charged. 2nd thing...it took 2 days to get connected to someone who could help me. For a small bed n breakfast..the 'right' person sure was being elusive. 3rd thing..when I spoke with the owner, he was beyond rude to me. He belittled me, berated me and laughed at me. Then he told me I was not welcome to stay at his bed and breakfast, as if I would have even considered it at that point. In my humble opinion based on my terrible experience..there are many beautiful places in the United States...stay at one of those..terrible customer service is something that should never be sacrificed.
