Aww Man... Shoney's Dixon was so AWESOME that I decided to try another Shoney's before having to head back to Southern California. BIG mistake! 1st please let me give credit where credit is due, to BOH (Back of the House), y'all are literally the only reason, I didn't report this location to the Corp. Office. Y'all Sid a HECK of a job, keeping the buffet clean and stocked. Thank you. Also the food y'all sent it was also Fabolous!!! So well done to the BIG staff. It was an honor. Now, I'm not sure if this location had a HUGE breakfast rush or what, but the FOH (Front of the House) service was terrible. The hostess didn't even smile when she greeted NEW customers (myself included), nor did she smile when she was cashing out customers. Also many NEW customers waited close to 10 minutes beforewe were even greeted. Hmm why is that? My server (Tia) though very sweet, lacked attention to details on our order, and the MOD (manager on duty), (Mr. Lopez), needs to pay attention to his staff, because attitude reflects leadership, and this gentleman seemed from his lack of sense of urgency (meaning NOT helping is crew) was ridiculous! Let me say this, Sir, anytime you see one of your servers struggling with something, it's your job as a leader, to step in and help out whenever & wherever is necessary. From the look of your crew, this needs to fixed YESTERDAY. To whomever the GM (General Manager) is, the leadership at this location needs to be reevaluated. I say this because this location is right by the airport, where many people (tourist & others) will come to first. And as we ALL "should" know, 1st impressions are ALWAYS the most important. My 1st impression of this Shoney's, wasn't impressive at ALL. Sorry, I'm just being honest. Well that's it for me on this one, "Until next time America", this is Big Sid out....

I don't know bout the food this year because I was made to leave because of my service dog. I'm a diabetic & my dog can tell before I do bout my blood sugar. But their food use to be GREAT!!!!!!

Did the trick! I wouldn't come here to fine dine my @$$ off or anything like that. Just look at Shoney's to put something in your system after a long night on the town on powerful beverages. Based off what the other reviewers have gave the heads up, it seem like it has fell into the dumps. Grade; D

After seeing the pricey spread at our hotel, we sought out the nearby Shoneys since it's pretty good in our hometown. Immediately we could tell the location was outdated. From light fixtures to the floor. It's okay to keep it classic but keep it clean too. The carpet was dirty and brown. The floor had light carpet underneath the booths. The hostess was friendly and professional looking while wearing a blue bow. Our waitress seemed pissed when we told her we wanted the breakfast buffet after someone had already brought the menus. The breakfast was okay but the sausage wasn't good and the bacon was salty. I liked the oatmeal with brown sugar and strawberries. I should have ate that alone.

Shoney's has never been particularly impressive to me, as it seems like a holdover from the 1970's which has somehow managed to hang on despite being a terrible place. They have a salad bar, so that's quant, plus all of the tables and chairs are easily over twenty years old which would be cool if the place was well kept and the quality of food was above a Sonic Drive-In. First got there, headed to the restroom and was immediately hit by a familiar and unwelcoming scent characteristic of disgusting restrooms. The facilities were trashed; toilet paper was everywhere, the floor was filthy and the sink was a mess. It had been neglected since the 70's and was possibly used as a home for the local homeless at some point in its miserable life. Sat down at the table and noticed the menu is new, so that's fun. Appetizers are odd: sliders (basically Krystal's gut-bombs), fried onion rings, chicken tenders and spinach artichoke dip with handmade (right...) pita/toasted bread chips. Needless to say, I didn't hit up chicken tenders (which are also offered as a meal) as an appetizer. Ordered a veggie omelet and it came with some tasty hashbrown/baked cut potatoes and a rock-hard biscuit. I began to ask the waitress for another biscuit and she finished my sentence for me in saying that it was rock-hard. This is obviously a common problem, so why hasn't this been taken care of? I guess consistency is key, even if you're consistently offering inedible biscuits. Coffee was good, water tasted like water and the apple crisp dessert was on point. Paces like Cracker Barrel do breakfast and food better. tl;dr Service was quick and the waitress knowledgeable, food was sub par and restroom was reminiscent of a post-apocalyptic world trapped in a 10x10 tiled square.

I am not sure what drove me to review a Shoney's. To me it is like reviewing a McDonalds...but I really did enjoy this place, so here it goes. We ate here for breakfast a couple of mornings during a Nashville trip. The breakfast/ lunch buffet was really good. I am a sucker for home cooked breakfast, that I didn't have to cook. So it really hit the spot. The service was great and the waitresses seemed very attentive.

I hate to do this but it wasn't that great! I have always liked Shoneys but this one was a bit dirty! Please clean silverware better and shampoo the carpet.

Keep driving by this place! I haven't been to Shoney's in more than a decade and remember it as a large buffet of piping hot breakfast food. It wasn't that at all. Buffet was horrible. The coffee was tar. Restroom was filthy. However, the waiter was pleasant and tried his best. This is not the Shoney's like I remember. Should've went to Denny's.

I work of Donelson pike.. This shoneys is very convenient for am hour Lunch stop and real food vs fast food. Today the food was not up to par. Everything was poorly made and unseasoned. Not the usual MO for here. The salad was wilted. Fruit spoiled. Just not well put together as a whole buffet. Really ruined my lunch and my day. Fast food it is. #sadface

This evening was the second time in as man months that I have had very substandard service. I am not sure what has happened at this location during this last year... but it has not been good. On a previous occasion after a negative experience I emailed their corporate offices (which are actually local) and have never gotten a response. This evening, it was just very, very apparent that my server did NOT want to be at work... (or perhaps this demeanor is just her MO all of the time, not sure). I FINALLY got a straw toward the END of my meal... I just do not get servers who know they rely on gratuity to survive, having a bad attitude that shows to the patron. Geeze....sorry you are having a bad day lady... but don't bring it to my table. The entire staff has really gone downhill this last year. On a positive note...the day time hostess (whose name I cannot recall) IS THE ABSOLUTE SWEETEST PERSON EVER!!! She needs a promotion or raise Shoney's.

Stopped in before a flight for Brunch at the Breakfast Bar. Having been to other Shoney's around town, I'd say this is on par with the others. A basic, sit down restaurant with waitresses that would probably rather be on a smoke break, and food that has been picked over by your average every-person. The buffet is generally well stocked, allowing you to stuff yourself to the gills and head on about your business. Fine dining, it ain't, but it fills its own niche well. If you are the person who says "Lets go to Shoney's" then you know what you are getting, if you aren't, don't stop in looking for fine dining because it's somewhere else.

Oh my how the mighty have fallen. Years ago when I lived in the South East this chain was well known for good food. Times have changed and so has Shoneys, atleast this particular location. The breakfast bar was not even worth the walk into the store. Pancakes, bisucuts, and institutional French toast sticks were very, very dry. The bacon tray was empty and the ham tray was very dried up. Everything from the cold bar (fruits and salad) must have been out of a can and presented plainly. Only the orange juice tasted good. This was a total disappointment from every angle. Go to Cracker Barrel just an exit east off 40 for a real breakfast.

I go to Shoney's restaurants for one reason - a decent food bar. This one was terrible, with hardly anything on it. In addition, the restaurant seemed dirty. On a brighter note, the waiter and the shift manager did a good job and were friendly. It just doesn't take the place of the very bad food.

Place was horrible. Everyone else received their meals and were finishing and I still had not received my sandwich which then I was told they were out of! They brought me something inedible and I had to throw it away. No stars for this place.

My boyfriend & I come here every now & then. I always get a burger & fries & he'll get a salad or a sandwich but we stick to those menu items. I know they make a fairly good burger for a price better than most fast food joint combos & I do really like their season fries but I see things like steak & such on the menu & have never once thought, "Hey, I bet Shoney's makes an AWESOME T-bone! I should get that!". Last night I when with a friend & she was set on getting the buffet. After we were seated she ran to get a quick look at the buffet & was surprised to find there was no meats on it. There were only sides. When our waiter brought our drinks back she asked about it. He told us it was steak night & if you order a steak you got the bar for free. He gave us a minute to decide. My friend was looking at the steak menu & though I advised against she decided to get the bacon wrap sirloin. We order: She the steak & bar, me a hamburger. When our food was brought to us I immediately saw that my burger had cheese on it. I told the waiter I had not wanted cheese on it when I ordered it. (When I order a burger I always say HAMBURGER & then tell them I want nothing on it...no cheese & that I want "Bread, Meat, Bread. They then often ask again if I want cheese which I again state,"No, cheese." Yes, I know I am odd. Don't judge me!!!) I pointed out that I had said no cheese & he took it back to the kitchen. When he brought it back I could tell that the cheese had just been peeled off but it looked fine & I didn't say anything be cause as long as all the cheese was gone & it tasted fine I wasn't bother by it. It was good & I was pleased. My friend had gone to the side & salad bar while I was wanting on my burger & had come back to try her steak. Her "Bacon WRAPPED Sirloin" was a extra thin cut of meat with a couple of pieces of bacon tossed on top of it. She had ordered it medium & when she cut it in half to see how it was cooked there was no pink. She cut off a bite & tried it. It was chewy & very well done. Our waiter came by & she asked it if they could make her another one. He picked up her plate with the cut in half steak with the bacon sitting to one side & with a piece of cornbread she had taken a bite out of & set on the plate. I few minutes go by & the waiter comes back & sets a plate in front of her then walks away...the exact same plate that he had taken away with the exact same steak, exact same bacon, & the exact same cornbread! I waited for the waiter to come by again & asked for the manager. When we told him what happened he was apologetic & said it was our waiter first steak night & he would talk to him. He said he would have another steak out to her right away. She got the steak & it was almost medium. She ate it & said it was ok. I tried a small bite & it was covered in way too much pepper but at that point we just didn't care. She had eaten her fill at the bar & the bar alone was the same price as the steak so we didn't ask for it to be taken off our ticket. Speaking of the ticket, our waiter, Seth, didn't bother to take the cheese off of it. I had it taken off at the register & didn't bother to leave Seth a tip! I think last night trip deserves only one star but since my boyfriend & I go once & awhile & haven't had a problem I'll give it two.

This Shoney's is the worst. I come here about twice a month due to convenience, but geez! I went for lunch today and it was clear no one was put on schedule. All I wanted was a Lunch Salad Buffet TOGO! That should have taken me all of 5 minutes right...WRONG! First I waited in line to get my container (only 1 person in front of me, it took 5 minutes), then when I go to the front, there were no containers and the lady was way to confused. No one in the entire Shoney's seemed to know where anything was, and the "manager" had an attitude whenever any of the few employees asked him any questions. Eventually, when I got my container, the variety on the bar was not awesome, but then again, it is a Shoney's. They had an empty Basalmic Vinegrette container on the buffet, I couldn't find anyone to ask for more. I waited...and waited...and waited for anybody to walk by. I found a random waitress on the floor if they had anymore, clearly she was irritated or too busy to care. But she did tell me to wait. As I waited, I noticed the terrible condition the buffet was in. It had chipped paint and it looked really dated. Like it hasn't seen a renovation since the 80's. They should take notes from the Shoney's on White Bridge Rd. I waited...and waited...and waited...finally she found some, somewhere. Got in line to pay for my food, the line was out of the door! And it seems as if the machine broke down. The poor lady at the front was trying to get a manager to press some button so she could continue. The manager walked past her at least 3 times as this line is forming out of the door, finally when he did come to her, it took 2 seconds for him to press one little button, to get her going again and he had a NASTY attitude. The other guests in the line were so pissed. Most of the guests are people trying to catch a quick lunch. The line alone was longer than the meal. All in all, it took me a total of 20 minutes to get a To Go salad! It should have only taken me 5 minutes. Just terrible.

This Shoney's has REALLY gone down hill. I came here because I don't like the Opry Mills one. So now I can say I don't like this one either. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because the food was edible. I didn't say it was good, just edible. I could not wait to get out of there! It's also gotten more expensive. Two words.....don't go!

My nephew, mom, and myself stopped here for lunch while waiting for check in time at our hotel. The food was ok. The iced tea had a funky taste to it. It was like a funky tasting water. The service can be a bit better. The waiter was not the friendliest. He was not unfriendly, just not as friendly as we are usued to. The hostess was talking with another co-worker and finished her story before she sat us. Idk if I'd go back. Probably not but maybe

Should be "Shown" the door! The buffet just ok--food was mediocre and not much of a selection. Best thing was the corn muffins and mac salad. Maybe the menu items are better. The service was super, though. Shoutout to Tasha! Bottom line--save your money and go someplace else.
