Didn't think I would like this place, but was pleasantly surprised! The chorizo tacos and burger were delicious. Solid drinks. Great service. Loved the music. I would definitely come back!

Been dreaming of the scallops since the minute they hit my tongue. Shared four small plates and a half dozen oysters with a friend and left drunk on happiness. We sat at the oyster bar which was cool because of the open kitchen and the conversations that naturally spawn because of that. the service was great.. I could tell our server was passionate about the food and I always appreciate when the waiter doesn't have that whole "I hate my fucking job wtf do you want" attitude (until the drop off the check, of course). I'm new to Nashville, but I can say with confidence this place is going to be in my top 5.

I'm so sad to say I've been here three times and I'm just not impressed. I've eaten their mussels, jumbalaya, pork sandwich and pork burger. It's all been okay, but nothing I want to finish or even bother to take home as leftovers, which is saying a lot! It's so close to our house, but I just can't bring myself to go again. Also the peanut butter pie was super tough and dry. So sad about this place! :(

Rudie's is great. I love the concept. The atmosphere is laid back but not too casual. Check out the bathrooms! The pork chops are delicious. The étouffée hot dog is unique and super tasty. It seems kind of strange in theory, but don't be scared, it will please most any palate. The beer selection is very good. The classic cocktails are prepared perfectly. The bartenders are professional and a pleasure to talk to. All around a great place to visit.

Ok, ok. I have to admit that when a seafood meal was suggested as part of my vacay dining tour of Nashville, I thought, "um, Seafood... In this landlocked city, um so far away from the ocean, um ok..." My friend had not even been to Rudie's which was also a bit odd, but being in that I completely trust his culinary choices in any city- no matter what the geographical location, I went full in. We arrived for a late dinner and were quite happy to be seated right away. The friendliest waiter came over and chatted us up about the oysters, the sausages and the whole concept of the place - which is basically downright-cool-as-hell. We were given some time to check out the menu and decide on beers, but Lets face it Yelps, I knew as soon as I walked in and saw that oyster bar, I wasn't leaving there without some! I went ahead and order some giant Gulf oysters, bc that's how I roll, and they came out with the freshness I've always received in northern FL and LA (Lower Alabama). They were huge, fresh tasty squishy treats. I topped them with my usual horseradish, onions and hot sauce and I couldn't have been happier. Our waiter came over and filled us in on the specials and as soon as I heard pork chop, I was sold. The pork is farmed on Amish farms and was the seriously the tastiest piece of pork I think I have ever had. First of all, it was ginormous. It was cooked perfectly and oh so tender (not that overcooked chop of yesteryear where your mom cooked the hell out of them). It was served with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus wrapped in thick cut bacon slices. I just wish I had more room for the potatoes, since I saved most of my tummy space for that delicious chop. Absolute perfection. Excellent overall experience, wonderful food and super cool scene at Rudie's. That's why I'm dropping the full 5 stars!!

I never imagined getting mussels that tastes as good as the ones I've had in Seattle in Nashville. This place is exactly what East Nashville needed! Appetizers + Drinks: Poutine and raw oysters shared by two couples while we waited at the bar for our food. Cheese curds and brown gravy were soaked up well by the pork fat fried french fries and the oysters were large and salty. They had a very nice selection of beers on tap and bottled and had some very nice seasonal cocktails including apple cider. Dinner: Etouffee hotdog (dog made in house!) with fries. I love meat in tubular shapes and this one does not disappoint! There are even fried crayfish on top... Italian sausage (also made in house) with fries. The sausage was nice and meaty and had a wonderful sauce on top. Mussels and sausage in a deep and delicious broth.... as good as I've had in Seattle. Several pieces of bread provided to savor and enjoy the broth to the last drop! Fish tacos- meh... they weren't bad but with all the other amazing dishes Rudies has to offer, this one isn't one I would gravitate towards. Four of us originally sat at the bar to wait for a table but we ended up having our dinner there. The bar is nice, the bartender friendly and knowledgeable and the music wasn't too loud. If you sit in the right spot, you can see the sausages painted on the walls of the men's restroom. Too bad I'm not a dude to really enjoy all the painted sausages! Go there and have fun. I cannot wait to go back!

Great place to hang, good craft beer and awesome seafood in East Nashville. This place is good for having a beer with friends and/or eating lunch or dinner. This place has the craziest hours - they are pretty random and not open for as long as most places so check the hours before driving out there First, parking. There is not a lot of parking directly in front of the building and its next to a small strip of other places that are all full as well. Also, its right next to a traffic light and in a busy area so I just wanted to warn you on that. It was starting to get packed and we came in the middle of the day at like 3. Maybe there is a back parking lot that I dont know about? When you walk in, there's a bar to the left and that place got pretty jumping. To the right is a decent sized area with booths for eating and it's not super well lit so it's definitely a hang out and have a beer atmosphere. Someone said it was small but this place is not small. They have a HUGE outdoor patio area that is so nice and you can bring your dog. The food was awesome. I had the blackened grouper sandwich and it was so good. It came with fries and they were good but nothing special. The poutine was just some fries on top of gravy - is that how they do that? I thought the gravy would be draped on it so that was a downer. It looks like you can buy seafood too as they had a deli type of case. Service was good, I think the manager waited on us, and they kept that place moving. You can see them cooking and you can see them putting the food out. I tried a few craft beers and they were pretty awesome. Decor was southern hipster feeling with wooden boards nailed up on the walls and painted by hand. A lot of beards going on in this place. Beware the lady in the parking lot hitting people up for money with her cute dog. It's East Nashville so you got that mix of the hipsters revitalizing the area mixed in with the people who are broke and live there.

Incredible staff here! Always so nice and knowledgable. Fyi don't come here before 7 and think that you're going to order the mussels or oyster in a basket because it's always sold out before I get here. I should remember this, but I live down the street and come in when I have a craving... Downer alert, they don't offer wifi so catching up on work in the patio not an option, but TOTALLY DOG FRIENDLY! Enjoy ;)

Atmosphere: If you're coming during a busy time - be prepared to come looking for a parking spot. If it's cold / raining be prepared to wait. They only have a few tables inside but but have plenty of bar / hightop seating. They have an outdoor patio but it was too cold to even contemplate that. Now that the negatives are out of the way - lets talk about how amazing it was. There is a bar side which is what you would imagine and then there is the dining side. Right in the middle is where they prep the oysters and you can watch them prep while you wait / eat. Service: Our waiter seemed to be fairly new, we had multiple waiters check in on us, but had detailed knowledge of the menu. We received our food and drinks very quickly. Food: i have a habit of over-ordering when I try new places. (Friends if you hear me talking about trying out a new place it would probably be wise to tag along.) For a landlocked state it probably has some of the best oysters I've had in Nashville. I tend to get on a oyster binge and its good to know that this is my go-to spot. We started with the poutine which was decent for Nashville. Some places go crazy with the gravy but this was just right. I ordered two of each oyster to figure out which one I loved. When i found which one i liked I ordered another half dozen of those... on top of my meal. I also ordered the jambalaya which was absolutely delicious. The girlfriend doesn't eat seafood but even she liked it. Obviously since she doesnt eat seafood she avoided the seafood and stuck with the sausage portion of this adventure. She ordered an italian sausage off of the specials menu and it was deliciously messy. Needless to say she couldn't finish it. The drinks were a perfect compliment to our meals. They're are several I wanted to try but I just stuck with an old fashioned. Overall: This is an absolute must. Skipping this is a mistake. I look forward to enjoying this place as it warms up and plan on taking advantage of that patio.

From what I am told this place is fairly new to the area...I can see it being around for a long time. Really great atmosphere the staff was super friendly and helpful; they gave us drink and food suggestions. I can not remember the name of the appetizer we had but it was delicious... goat cheese, pesto and peppers on a small piece of toasted french bread, it was on the small plate menu and it was indeed small... small amount but very good gone in about 3 minutes. For dinner I had the blackened catfish, cheese grits with andoullie sausage. It was very good the grits were excellent so was the sausage the only problem was the fish could have used a little more seasoning..still good but maybe ask for a little spicier. This really is a cool place and would go back when in Nashville.

I can't believe Rudies is just down the street from my house in inglewood east Nash. Puutine that's all I will say. Oh and their pork sandwich is to die for!!

Went to Rudie's during brunch hours on a Sunday. Had a dozen gulf oysters to start with which were amazing. Split the crab cake blt and the hangover burrito upon the waiter's recommendation. Both were extremely delicious. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff because everything looks so good!! On top of the delicious food the staff were all really nice and attentive. Definitely a win for Riverside Village.

Wow! I always appreciate it when unassuming local spots blow me away. Rudie's did just that! In my first foray into Rudie's, I sat at the bar and had a few appetizers. - The sausage-stuffed squid was fantastic (can a starter even DO that?) The sausage (all made in-house) was juicy and delicious, the squid cooked just right, and the MARINARA! They must have an old Italian gramma working in the kitchen. It was the best I've ever had from any restaurant! - Side of fries (because they are fried in lard). It's small details like this which show the care of the restaurateurs, and add up to a great experience. - The spiced rum was perfect for the cold winter night I visited. I can't wait to return to try the oysters and some of the larger sausages like the bratwurst and the andouille!

Great food, reasonable price, great ambience. The staff recommended the steamed mussels and it was super yummy... Highly recommend to everybody. I had pork burger - never had before - it tastes OK, not really special and my baby had hotdog - homemade from scratch and she loved it.

Everything we had was excellent. Pork chop, pork sandwich, mac and cheese, and whole red snapper. I really can't say anything bad about it. Parking is a little tough...there, fair and balanced.

We set out in search of a family and dog friendly restaurant to eat lunch at before we headed home. This place had a communal patio that was quiet, not over crowded, and had comfortable seating. They even had a dog fountain! They served us on the patio; the oysters were fresh and the food was good. No complaints here!

Such a great addition to Riverside. The Philly cheesesteak is very authentic, which I think might be a Nashville first offering. We came on a bustling Saturday and I snaked a couple of seats at the oyster bar. Which led to a dozen from NC, and I got a pearl! The shucker was either genuinely enthusiastic, or he does a hell of a job faking it. Great mix of couples, families, hipsters, and groups. Excellent beer selection. It is a little smoked-meat smoky in there, so prepare to smell delicious all night.

So glad to have stumbled upon this gem. Tried the oysters , ceviche, wheat berry salad and jambalaya. It was all delicious. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. We will be back!

We found this great neighborhood joint from the good Yelp reviews while visiting Nashville. When you enter, you get a good, relaxed and friendly vibe. The patrons seem to be locals and very comfortable. Rudie's has a lot of fresh seafood and house made sausages. Hubby had the beer bratwurst, which came with fries. The bratwurst came with sauerkraut and mustard on it and the bun seemed to be made in house. (you'd have to verify this). Hubby reported A+ on all of the above. I ordered the shrimp and grits with andouille, which was one of the daily specials. The grits were cooked with cheddar and had a nice flavor and consistency. The shrimp was done perfectly, the andouille sausage was house made and very tasty. The dish was topped with sautéed green peppers and onions and a tasty broth/gravy that tasted a bit smoky, like the sausage. This dish was to die for. If you live in the neighborhood, you should lobby to have this made a regular menu item! We got a piece of key lime pie to go, so we'll see how good that is at breakfast. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

We stopped by here passing through town. We made our decision to eat here based on the already great reviews. We were not disappointed. It was busy and they ask you to seat yourself, but the servers were very attentive. The food arrived ridiculously fast. We ordered the blue point oysters on the half shell, jambalaya, and the etouffe hot dog. All of them were awesome and affordable. After driving from California this was the best place we ate at on our whole trip.

Found this awesome place with the help of yelp, staff was really friendly, neat & clean, and food was excellent! And I strongly recommendand the tuna tartare it was a special that day with the grilled avocado. My wife had crabcakes and my son Noah had oyster poorboy it was all fantastic.

I couldn't be more excited that this joint opened down the street from me. I've been in at least 10 times now and haven't had a bad experience. Staff is very friendly. Decor reminds me of beach shacks in Massachusetts. All of their meats are homemade and fabulous. Who knew I'd love bologna? Best part of Rudies is the oyster selection. They are always fresh and the price is far less than the Southern or battered and fried. They need to expand. Word is out and it's tough to get seating on a weekend. Work waiting though.

  • Reina S.

The oysters were amazing! Ordered the brat with sauerkraut. I didn't care much for the texture of the bratwurst but the flavor was good. I was pleased that they put a ton of sauerkraut on it. Usually places don't put on enough I don't know what they do to their fries but they are something special. Worth getting for sure.

We have now visited Rudie's about 5 times and I have to say I love this place. Let's start with the service. Though the service is great what I really love about this place is the feeling you get. The severs and bartenders just seem comfortable here. They make you feel comfortable. They reinforce what I feel every time which is that this is a great neighborhood joint. The bartenders make great drinks and the happy hour has some great options. I'm a huge fan of the bar in general and how small it is. It's small size almost ensures it will remain sort of quaint. Now to the Poutine. Come on! This stuff is will eventually kill me and I'm cool with it. It's so good. The étouffée hot dog is something special but not many things beat the jambalaya. Here's the thing. I could go on. Since then I've had at least 4 other things that I love. The moral of the story is that is a superb neighborhood restaurant that seems to be well thought out and caring with great dishes, service and atmosphere.

I found this via Yelp! I was impressed with the reviews so I recommended this for dining. My uncle and lifetime friend wanted to treat my wife and I to dinner as a wedding anniversary gift. They were hesitant since it was our first visit. When we started eating, everybody kept saying, mmmm this is good! Oysters on the half- delicious, jambalaya- delicious, fried oysters- delicious, smoked salmon omelet- delicious!

I can't express how excited I was when I learned east nashville was getting an oyster bar. I can't express how excited I was when I went and ordered the oysters (gulf) and they were so good! Everything I've tried here has been delicious. The shrimp and grits on their specials menu was one of my favorites! I've also tried their mussels, halibut, and the italian sausage.. All very good. The only downside to this place is they don't have a ton of seating.. They have two booths and one big corner booth as well as maybe 3 four top wooden tables? The rest is all bar type seating. I won't take away any stars for that tho as the food is excellent and I'll keep going back. They also have a really nice bar area that could be a great place to go and watch a hockey game (though not sure how they decide what games they put on the one TV). They've got plenty of beer and cocktail options but if you want wine, they only offer one red and one white by the glass, otherwise they have about 8 different bottles you can buy. That's by no means a complaint though! They are affordable options. (Though I will complain that their $7 wine by the glass is more like a 5oz pour, I always like a healthy pour myself.)

100 STARS!!!! Literally just left Rudie's.. it was a last minute spontaneous choice (on a Saturday night) after we decided our initial plan wasn't going to work. Couldn't have been more perfect. Excellent service above and beyond from the moment we walked in to closing time. Ridiculous food.. all six of us were blissfully pleased with all of the deliciousness that happened to us. Great atmosphere, awesome drinks, amazing staff... Everything you could possibly want. PLUS I got a free keylime pie after our server heard it was my bday. Get the oysters.. corn salad.. soup.. tacos.. everything. So so good. After living in LA for the last 5.5 years it's great to find places like this during my trips home. Nashville's food scene is exploding! Yumm!

being a florida girl i was very excited about rudie's opening. they always have 3+ varieties of oysters to choose from on the menu- always fresh and delicious. Any starter or entree i've ordered has been amazing. my favorites are anything that include the andouille sausage- it is out of this world. it basically melts in your mouth and doesn't leave a heavy sausage feel behind. waitstaff is always nice and tentative- i usually sit at the bar (or oyster "bar") and enjoy the conversation throughout the night. the atmosphere is cozy and lighting pleasant. they have a great beer selection and wine on tap! bathrooms are fun too! definitely a must for a night out with friends or a date!

When we first arrives we had trouble finding a parking spot.fortunately after a couple rounds of searching we caught a couple leaving and took the spot. So far the oysters I had had have been the best ones yet. Place was small, waited for about 30 min to get a seat, but it was well worth the wait. Will be coming back soon!

Just tried this for the first time and it was really good. I went with a few other people and was able to try the charcuterie plate - with meats and sausages made in-house - the edamame hummus, the jambalaya and more. I had the brisket sandwich with goat cheese mashed potatoes. It was all just superb. Can't wait to go back. Oh- and the desserts! I tried both the peanut butter chocolate pie (rich and divine) and the key lime pie (delicious and light). Highly recommend going.

I wasn't blown away by the food but it was a solid meal so I can't complain either. I had the gumbo which had good flavor, my friend had one of the sausage items which was average. I would come back to try something else but I will keep my expectations set to average.

Finally made it to Rudie's - and I can't wait to go back. Excellent food, cool vibe. The great oysters and fantastic creole-fusion-crawfish topped house-made hot dog blew me away. I'm certainly not surprised that something this cool would come from the mind that brought us Mitchell's Delicatessen.

The food was amazing from the fresh oysters, fresh cut fries, to the mahi fish sandwich. I'd recommend sitting closer to the front near the windows b/c it's hot near the kitchen and at times smoky. The environment is laid back with a funky casual decor. No doubt, I will visit "Rudie's" again when in Nashville.

This place is one of our new favorites. We went to Rudie's on a recommendation from my friend. I was not disappointed--the food and cocktails were delicious. I had the tuna and my beau had the Jambalaya. The portions are large and the flavor was awesome! It's really great to have a place in East Nashville that's affordable AND has a menu that's not packed with a bunch of fried food.

We ate here on a Friday on our first visit to Nashville for the Rock and Roll Marathon. What a great introduction to this city! We had clams in corn and jalapeño broth for an appetizer. The sweetness of the corn with the slight bite of the jalapeño was delicious! Would highly recommend this app. My husband had the bochetta pork belly and I had the lion fish with asparagus and wild rice. My lion fish was good. My husband's pork belly was outstanding. He was raving about it throughout the meal and was still talking about it in detail the next day. He said it was so good he nearly wept! We had the dolce brownie with caramel sauce served warm that was a good conclusion to the meal. Overall the meal was fantastic. Highly recommended!

  • Jackson W.

I came here to check it out, and ended up treating myself to a four course meal. This place, while still new, has already developed an eclectic, delicious menu. The fresh seafood and the house made pork products are the cornerstones, but it's the rabbit sausage and adventurous oyster beer pairing that excite. I never thought I could eat pozole and boudin or poutine in the same place; now I can. If anything, this place is too good for its own good. I hope it stays that way.

    (5)
  • Greg G.

The oysters on the half shell are excellent! That's the only good thing I have to say about Rudie's, however. The entrees, while relatively cheap, were simply not very good. If we ever go back, we'll get oysters on the half shell as an appetizer--and then go somewhere else for dinner.

My bf and tried this place for the first time based off the reviews on yelp. The place was packed and super busy. We ordered raw oysters and the were amazing. We then got a steak and the blackened catfish. Both were undercooked. My bf even sent his back for them to cook it some more and it still came back severely undercooked and inedible. We absolutely hate complaining but it was necessary. The waiter was really cool about it and gave us some free beer. Will give it a try again. Also they're Founders raspberry fram Boise that they have on draft was absolutely amazing.

So far so good! Always trepidatious about judging a restaurant during its first week but Rudies was impressive this last Sunday, just days after its grand opening. I had the mussels and my wife got a pork burger. The food was beyond well prepared and very satisfying. Only caveat I have is that the prices are steep relative to the loud, bustling ambience. Some people might recoil at spending $14 on a burger while having music blaring from the speakers in an echo-y dining space. It's really hard to talk. And while we'd prefer less noise, it won't keep us from coming back,

Loved the atmosphere and the service, our waiter was very helpful and caring in a great informal way. I wanted to try every item in the menu, which doesnt happen often! Everything we ordered, from oysters to beer sausage was great. Cant wait to go back!

Bristly but bubbly David Mitchell greeted us with recs on some of his seafood creations at his East Nashville restaurant. After an excellent negroni drink with campari, I shared some oysters on the half shell flavored with a little fragrant vinegary mignorette sauce. Later I savored a halibut entree cooked over the wood-fired grill. Each bite was bliss. The collard greens and cheese grits which accompanied gave it a southern twist. The greens were lightly salted and not overcooked so they still had life and nutrients left, thank goodness. There is not a lot here for a vegetarian, but she could have some mushroom tacos and a couple of the veggie sides and not leave unsatisfied. Rudie's was a little hectic with just casual table service, but the food always outweighs the service so I gave Rudie's a good rating.

Meh. Underwhelming in general and our waitress could not have been more apathetic. She did not smile at us once and seemed completely uninterested in everything. The food was a-ok but not anything amazing. I had the vegan chorizo tacos and my husband had a small plate of shrimp and a burger. Our bill was nearly 40 dollars (we both got water). Not worth it.

  • Alisa M.

While the menu is simple the flavors are not. I had the boudin cake, the jambalaya and the arugula pecan corn and goat cheese salad. Everything was divine. I don't eat crawfish and the request for shrimp as a substitute was met with a simple ok. Sophia the waitress was straightforward yet attentive which I liked. The chef obviously enjoys what he does and you can taste it in the food; because the kitchen is completely open if you catch his eye he'll want to know if you're enjoying it. I'll be back.

A great local restaurant that specializes in seafood and sausages. I have yet to find something at this place that was not just incredible. While not a huge menu everything is made with care and this includes the bar. Great cocktails to go along with the food. So if you are looking for fresh seafood made by people who care do yourself a favor and stop by here and enjoy!

Rudie's is just what Riverside Village needed. You don't have to be big and fancy and charge insanely high prices for excellent food and service. The crew here are great -- some of the friendliest staff I've seen at a restaurant. I've never been displeased with any of the items I've ordered, and they usually have a good selection of beers. It's not uncommon to find a brewery hosting an event at their location, so keep up with their news on FB and Twitter to stay in the know. Oysters and seafood in East Nashville -- FINALLY!

The food was fantastic, especially the fish tacos and fish sandwich. Great menu, with interesting selection. The cocktail sauce with oysters was delicious! Nice selection of beers. The atmosphere was lovely and the service so kind and accommodating, even making lemonade from scratch for our son. Lovely place, Great for parents and kids alike.

A nice addition to the hood. We went on Friday and it was packed, waited a good 30 minutes standing on hard concrete, noise level was high so difficult for 5 people to talk without shouting. Service was good, food was good, we kept it simple, grilled octopus - great, poutine - Ok, soups - good, cocktails, French 75 Ok, had mine with Gin but prefer Brandy - no brandy in the house We definitely will go back but look for a slower night. Not sure what all it cost as we were treated by a gracious Texan.

Jesus Christ...just amazing. Good drinks and amazing food and service. The poutine...the poutine. It's only $7 and can stand alone (if you're a fat kid like me) as a meal. Can't wait to go back here.

I liked the atmosphere, and music. The menu seemed alright but it was hard to pick something. The meal I wanted they were already out of. Our waitress seemed impatient, at first she said I could take my time they were open until 10, the next time she says "so are yall going to order anything?" She was very absent from out table, but aimlessly walking around the place. Luckily there was another girl who would come check on us. My husband and I both got the etouffee dog. He said it was alright. I on the other had found it unappetizing. I gave it two bites to hopefully make myself like it, the rest remained uneaten. Their fries were pretty good. The crawfish on the dog was totally flavorless, which I guess is usually covered by the etouffee sauce but I picked a piece off to eat just because I normally really enjoy crawfish. The dog was ok, I probably would have liked it better in a different dish. The bread was too large for the size of the dog. Not once did I get asked if we were enjoying our food or was everything ok, even after the waitress came to the table and saw I wasn't eating. Their key lime, and chess pies were good.

Well, a few things were good but several were not. Service was good, nice atmosphere, food not so good overall. Wouldn't be in a rush back. Really wish I could go 2.5 stars as something was "off" in my jambalaya and the ceviche was really pretty gross. I'm told they have only been open for 6 months or so. Maybe they can work out the kinks. The place has potential.

(I want say don't go... It's all mine... because I'm greedy.) Oh how I love Rudies! I've never has anything less than stellar to eat and the staff is amazing. They have great specials (especially Sundays) and the Coors + sidecar of Four Roses for $6 will always be on the menu...yes! Just go, you will be happy - but save us a seat, k??

The East Nashville that I grew up in did not have places like Rudie's Seafood and Sausage! That's why I'm delighted to find these new restaurants from my old stompin' grounds, thanks to other Yelpers. We got there early enough that parking wasn't a problem, but I can see how it may become a problem during peak serving hours. They have an awesome selection of craft beers, and my daughter and I enjoyed the Black Abbey IPA on tap. My wife was disappointed that they didn't have Grey Goose, but discovered how much she like her Tito's Cosmopolitan. We started with a basket of the fried oysters, and they were excellent. They have an outrageous selection on their menu, and we had a very hard time deciding what we wanted. We decided each of us would order something different, and then redistribute everything once it got to the table. My wife ordered the jambalaya and said it was better than hers. I'm smart enough to not have agreed with her, but from what I tried, it was excellent! Apparently, they make their own sausages, and the andouille sausage in the jambalaya was outstanding. I got their lobster/crab roll, and we all loved it! But my daughter won the night with the blackened mahi sandwich. The fish was nicely spiced, and then accented by the mango chutney and guacamole. Yeah, I'm a fan! Usually, french fries are not worth mentioning, but Rudie's fries were good enough to get their own shout out. For dessert, we got a piece of key lime pie and a piece of chess pie and played pass the plates. Neither my wife nor daughter grew up with chess pie, and they preferred the key lime by a lot. I really liked the key lime, but I was blown away by the chess pie. It may be an acquired taste, but I wouldn't mind acquiring more of that pie.

Visited on a Saturday, there was no wait. Amazing fries fried in their house rendered lard. Mahi mahi sandwich was perfectly cooked. Jambalaya is flavorful, hot, and so good. Would've given a 5 star but their peel and eat shrimp were weirdly mushy. Overall definitely a place you have to visit.

What I dig about restaurants is that it's this wonderful look at what an owner / chef wants to present to the world of what they love...or their take on dish they love.... But what fell short at Rudies was the dish presentation and style. For example: the peel and eat shrimp. Part of this is preference, and I do prefer a hot low country style shrimp, so served fresh and hot. Rudie's presented a plate with giant cold shrimp with their heads still on and it just hit me wrong. It ain't even about the shrimp having their heads still on...it just felt sloppy.

THE fattest, most meaty, oysters I've ever had - fresh and fulfilling! Salmon pastrami brioche was yummy. Jambalaya had great flavor, yet was a touch over salted. Very casual atmosphere, great food, solid service. Would come back. When you walk out of the restaurant, be prepared to smell like grilled seafood for the rest of the day : )

Very excited to try this place out as we're a big fan of Mitchell's Deli and it didn't disappoint. We went with a group of 6 and tasted around on everyone's dish, the only way to make sure you try as much as you can, right? The ambiance was excellent and I want to get back for the bar area. Unpretentious and affordable beer selection with a large variety of options and I saw wine on tap. I'll be back for that part of the review. Starters: We started off with a dozen oysters and the poutine. The oysters were those huge gulf oysters that can lack flavor but these were excellent and sweet. The poutine was as good as you can imagine, it's fries with gravy/cheese and bacon. Of course it was good. Scallop Ceviche was the only thing that didn't impress. Maybe it's a product of me being from the Northeast and knowing great scallops but these were a little fishy and really the only reason this review has 4 stars. Entrees: Mussels and Sausage - Great dish with heirloom tomatoes and an awesome garlicy broth. The sourbread crostinis are a must here and didn't disappoint, plus they brought out more which is helpful because there's never enough. I really enjoyed the andouille in the dish as well, it felt very Mitchell's to me. Pork Philly Cheesesteak - It was called the Southern Philly I think. It doesn't matter. Get it. This one rivaled some of the best sandwiches I've tried at Mitchell's. Hot Dog Etouffee - It was good. I can't wrap my head around what a good etouffee is just because I've tried so little of it. The sandwich was solid though. Burger - Great looking burger. I didn't get a taste but the thing was HUGE. Nice bulky roll, vegetables that looked like someone actually picked them out today rather than piled in a crate delivered a week ago. This might have been a special, I can't find it on the menu. tl;dr - Go try it, it's a young restaurant and only going to get better. The bar is set pretty high though.

Can't say enough good things about this place. I've been three times now and it's been consistently way more than good every time. The wait staff are enlightened, friendly and helpful but not pushy. The service is good. I will never consider going anywhere else in Nashville for raw oysters. They've got it going on!

Giving this place 5 stars because their oysters are the bomb.com . I was never big into oysters but this place completely changed my mind. The gulf oysters are out of this world. Also, the atmosphere is very cool, I always appreciate when the entire kitchen is open. I will definitely be back. Bravo people.

Casual setting. Open kitchen. The poutine fries were a first for me and were so delicious. The crab cakes with mango chutney were full of crab and beautifully plated. Oysters were incredibly fresh. The grilled corn & arugula salad was surprisingly the stand out dish for me. The flavor and texture combinations were out of this world. We finished up with the PB & Choc pie. So rich and so good. We took it home and enjoyed it later in the evening. I can't wait to go back and try something new as the menu changes daily!
