Went here with some co-workers for dinner last night. We had a pretty big group and the majority of the party ordered beers and an entree, so our waitress had to keep everything in order. She did an excellent job! We stayed for over 3 hours total and it was a really good time, and the servers kept coming up to refill beers and waters and clear out the dishes. I had the dancin' desiree and it was great with the mango sauce; I actually think it was a lot better than the meat options on the menu since the steak portions looked pretty small. Props to the staff for being so patient and attentive to such a large and loud crowd! I've been here for two years and I can't believe I hadn't come here since now.

This place is pretty good. Unfortunately, around lunch time it can take a little while to get the food delivered to your table once you place an order. I find it a little weird that at night it changes to a seated restaurant. I just find it odd. The food is good. They have a black bean hummus that they serve as an appetizer that I find to be really great. The "sandwiches" that are served on pita are great! They have an amazing mango sauce too! Honestly, give it a shot. I've never had a bad experience.

Ate here for the first time yesterday; so glad we found it! Arrived at lunchtime, the place was pretty packed - always a good sign. Keeping this review short, I'll just name what my party & I had and we all said about our sandwiches. First friend had the Aunt Kay (saffron-marinated chicken with arugula, tomato, and green onion with a spicy mango sauce); she said it was awesome. Second friend had the Lady Lynn (black bean hummus, cuke, kalamata olives, red onion, tomatoes, sprouts and feta cheese with cucumber sauce) - he loved it, but substituted the feta with cheddar. said the fries that he ordered with it were really good. Third friend had the Dancin' Desiree (seems to be a favorite among reviewers here) (flat bread with black beans, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and butternut squash puree, also served with spicy mango sauce) - she said when she comes back, she's getting it again. I had the Reuben James (corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island with swiss cheese on flat bread): tooooooo~~ good. I also got a side of the sesame slaw... really, really delicious. Love the ambience, and the patio seating looked great, but was full so we couldn't eat outside. The only downside were the sweet potato chips; just didn't care for them. Some were soggy, some were crispy. Maybe we got an old batch, I don't know. Prices are very affordable (around $45.00 for a party of 4) but that's without beer. The beer selection looked great, tho! I'll be back.

Americanized Mediterranean food. Terrible value. Bland flavors that literally seemed reduced to salt and pepper. They recommended I get the steak platter ($12.95 = $14 with tax); what an awful value for 5 small cubes of steak. Steak was relatively tender, however seemed overcooked with no charring or rich grilled flavor. This place might be better for just grabbing a drink late at night. Perhaps their sandwiches are better?

What a great lunch stop! I finally ventured into this Hillsboro Village haunt with a co-worker... and was pleasantly surprised. A great, diverse (somewhat healthy) menu and a fabulous patio... and awesome fruit tea! I had the chicken salad wrap and it was amazing... their sweet potato chips are unreal. This has become one of my favorite lunch spots--I definitely recommend. Very convenient to the midtown/Vanderbilt area.

If I tried as hard as I could, I could not come up with a problem with this place. The food is fantastic, the service is rad, and they have a dog friendly patio. The food is heathier than most and the beer list goes on for days. Seriously, I think this is my favorite resturaunt of all time.

Kay Bob's is one of my favorite spots. Their porch is great for a sunny day and its pooch-friendly. They have a great tap selection and always have a nice beer on special for $2.75. You can't beat their Wednesday Growler filling special either. The food is consistently delicious. I always get Zeke the Greek on wheat. Their chicken is so juicy and tender. Try their sauces too! My new favorite part about Kay Bob's (been going here for a few years now) is their staff. They've recently switched to table service after a certain hour. At first this was hard for me to get used to but I'm so glad they did. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and super fun!

This place wasn't here when we lived in Nashville 8 years ago, so we thought we'd try it out. Kay Bob's has an awesome, chill atmosphere. Their patio was perfect on a cool evening, plus it gives you access to great people watching on 21st Ave. I decided to try their Bacon Cheese Burger Wrap, plus a side of fries. I was a bit on the fence about having a burger in non-burger form, but it was actually pretty tasty. The tube-shaped patty was cooked well and seasoned nicely too. The addition of arugula, red onion, and tomato rounded things out nicely. Flatbread made the whole thing seem healthier than a normal burger, although I'm sure it's not. Oh well, at least I can pretend. We will definitely be back!

Heavenly - that is how I would describe Kay Bob's Dancin' Desiree flat bread sandwich. I chose the sweet potato chips as my side very hesitantly because I'm not too fond of sweet potatoes but they were also delicious! I would definitely come back

After a few attempts to host a successful restaurant, finally this great location finds a winner! Fresh, well-executed, fairly priced (but not cheap) middle-east and Greek inspired food with a southern flare. Great beer list, and they fill growlers! Try the wings. Try the black bean hummus. Vegetarian options abound! The meat is good, the chicken is good, the sides are tasty. The portions are big. The space is comfortable. I have abused my sauce privileges (mango sauce is the bomb) many times. What's not to like?

I've been to here a few times for lunch because it's so close to my work. I've always had a good experience. It can definitely get crowded but they've got a lot of seating (big tables for parties of more than 4!) so I've never had an issue with that. They've got a good beer list but I haven't had a chance to sample as I usually go on my lunch break. I love all the different sauces they have and the food always has good flavor. No complaints, definitely check it out!

In from San Francisco while my dad has surgery at Vanderbilt. What a gem and less than 10 mins walk from the hospital. Didn't bother with the menu, just asked the staff for a flatbread recommendation and to suggest a sampler of local beers. I had the Uncle Bob (better with the horseradish sauce than the standard cucumber) with the fries. Brews were all spot on and the service was very attentive. And my total: $16. Amazing. Extra points too for the reggae on the sound system and dog friendly patio.

Tuesday and Saturdays you can use your 2 for 1 kabobs chips (you get it from buying beer at full price; I went on Monday). I always order the uncle bob or kubedih platter with cucumber sauce. With beer on tap at 2.75 a pint and Sunday trivia nights- this was my go-to place to grab a healthy dinner with friends and drink beer.

I love that Kay Bob's makes the effort to provide such great craft beer AND delicious healthy food. Beer: Follow them on FB or Twitter for posts of their beer of the day, $2.75 pints and $10 pitchers. As if that deal wasn't good enough, they offer $7 growler fills every Wednesday from 4-7pm...$7!!! That's the best beer deal in town! Food: The fries and sweet potato fries are to die for (various dipping sauces available) and such a generous serving that's great for sharing or as a light dinner to accompany your pint 'o beer. Or go for one of their various options for salads and platters. With so many great combinations, you can try something new each time and not get bored. Gluten Free options available such as the salads or if you like one of the flatbread fillings, they can put it over a bed of lettuce for you! Sauces are GF as well (just be sure to confirm with them to make sure). The patio is a must on beautiful warmer days! Great location within walking distance to all the greats in Hillsboro Village for coffee, ice cream, shopping and catching a flick at the Belcourt. Also to keep in mind: Brewery tastings have often been held here- keep an eye out for these events and also trivia is held on Sunday nights! Parking tip: They have a lot in the back.

First time here yesterday and loved it. I got the vegetarian black bean hummus sandwich, it was great and they have a bar of different sauces to add. I got the recommended cucumber sauce, so yummy. I got the coleslaw as a side but wasn't a fan. My boyfriend got potato salad and it was delicious. I also had to try the chocolate pie which was worth it, I have to try the cupcakes next time

  • Anna J.

Overall, the food was fresh and healthy, however, the taste is just really bland. I felt the price was a little bit on the pricier side for "casual fast food". Too bad the actual entrees doesn't automatically come with sides. Watch out for that if you want fries, it's extra! But they were really good, lol, hand cut and very crispy! I heard that they have great happy hour specials especially on drafts...willing to give them another try.

Okay, Okay, I have been dying to try this place out but everytime we are over here, WE ALWAYS head into Pizza Perfect..WHY??? because they are PERFECT....but today I had a long lunch so I thought, ummmmm something NEW ..where???? hey Kay Bob's..so off I went.. I love the open airy inside..it was a really nice feel to it. I thought it would be more like your normal typical bar/ slash/ restaurant so I was surprised about the Mediterranean menu...I mean it has an American flare to it, but it was definitely more healthy and several Vegan items on the menu...so, I thought hummmm...I am surprised but that is what I get for not reading reviews first ...right? Right!!! Well the waitstaff was so friendly and so helpful. You order at the counter when you go in. I must have had that deer in the headlight look, because she said...HEY can I help you over here..and I was like Yes, this is my first time...she smiled and handed me a menu. She told me their house specials and recommended several different items. Everything sounded so good!!! So I went with the Uncle Bob's on the sandwich menu. It was a wrap on wheat with Kubideh which is a Persian marinaded minced meat served with arugula, tomatoes and spices served with a cucumber chilled sauce on the side. I also ordered Vegan Sweet Potato Chips on the side and I opted for a Spicy Mango sauce for dipping. I went with Abita Draft Rootbeer...my only SIN in this healthy lunch... I didn't have to wait long. The waitress was so friendly that brought it to me. I was very pleased. Too much food and I paid a little under $14 with taxes and tip. I would eat here again. Maybe not this particular sandwich only because I had to go back to work and it was a little hard on my stomach..I should have stayed good with a salad...but I will definitely try them again!!! Their service, friendliness and decor gave them 8 out of 10 for me on my rating the scale and food was 7 out of 10 for me...So I gave them a 4 out of 5 on the YELP star system. I would say I am a fan....anything healthy has to be good for you !!! And I loved the sweet potato chips and spicy mango sauce...KILLER!!!!

I had the chicken gyros. It was big and good. Brother in law had the wings, he didn't like them, the waiter was so gracious and tried to make it all good. Service was excellent, I would definitely eat there again.

  • Trista D.

I don't have any complaints about Kay Bob's. I find the food and service to be good and consistent each time I go. I usually order the chicken chef salad, which is really good. I've had some other things but nothing was memorable other than the Dancin Desiree....yum! The fruit tea is also really good! I noticed during this visit that they have new additions to the menu. The place has gotten less busy over time so maybe this is an answer to that issue. Note: they have an amazing beer list and you can order pizza from Pizza Perfect here too.

  • Melissa S.

I ate here for dinner. I ordered the Persian ground steak platter. It was fine and edible but nothing special. The rice was average and the grilled vegetables were quite good. The meat was a little tasteless and chewy. The place does look excellent for grabbing a drink with a friend since they have an impressive tap selection and the atmosphere is great. Overall, I'd recommend going here for drinks and if you're hungry, order a snack but not the other way around.

  • Katie D.

Number one thing about this restaurant- the service was amazing!! Honestly they went out of their way to joke around and have a good time with my four friends and I. They only serve craft beer much to my friends chagrin (she really only drinks Bud Light) as crazy as that sounds and our server went out of his way to hook her up. I enjoyed the food as well! There was a bunch of vegetarian options. Not the best as leftovers (not that it has to be, thought I should throw it out there) but I definitely will be returning. If you have pickier friends they can also order from the pizza place next door which is owned by the same owner.

  • Dwayne S.

First time for lunch, and I was less than impressed. I ordered the grilled salmon salad, and didn't find it to be worth either the wait or the price. The salmon didn't appear to be grilled; probably microwaved. However it was prepared, it was basically soggy. The portion size was more than sufficient for lunch, but overall it was just a passable meal.

Was driving around looking for a place to eat and came upon Kay Bobs and I'm glad we did. The set up is great. I'm sure the patio in the summer is wonderful. They had 2-4-1 drinks on Saturday night which is fantastic with a good beer list. The cheese fries were great and I really enjoyed the potato salad. I didn't love my flat bread meal but we will definitely give them another chance.

This is based on only 1 visit. And I'm a bit bias bc I'm from the "motherland" in which kabobs come from. The setting is cool. The look and feel is awesome, especially on a nice day with the doors open. I got the kubideh platter. Here's where I'm a bit critical bc for $11 you get a little rice, one "seekh" of kubideh, some grilled veggies and a little bread. Sounds good except at most other actual Persian/Mid East restaurants for lunch, you will get substantially more food for a few bucks less. The taste...for most people that don't eat "real" kubideh, it'll be great. For me, it was so so (average). But with that said, I like it. 3.5 stars actually. Really impressed with the beer selection, very cool looking restaurant, nice location, and good food. Again---just based on one visit. Definitely worth checkin out!

This is my new favorite place. The food is amazing it feels you up it doesn't cost a lot and they're open late. Free Wi-Fi to boot better than going to Starbucks. On top of that if you want something from the pizza place next-door that they own you can just order and get it delivered to your table which is amazing! You got to try it my personal favorite is Zeke the Greek!!

  • Cody R.

I honestly feel like I should do two separate reviews -- one for the food and one for the beer list. The beer list is hands-down a 5 star for me...great selection, lots of local goodies mixed in with some nice out-of-state options. Probably the only thing that keeps me coming back. The food unfortunately, on the other hand...not good. $10 for a salad that included 3 pieces of overcooked steak, 2 croutons, and 1 mushroom sliced into 4 pieces on top of a bed of lettuce. Sound like a good deal to you? My wife had the Aunt Kay, to which she exclaimed, "Not enough substance to match the bread!" To beat it all, the meats just tasted bland. No spice, no distinguishing flavors...just...meat. I've also had a couple of other options and the song remains the same. The one highlight of the food menu is the French fries. Surprising that as bad as the other food is, the fries are among the best I've had in Nashville. Match those with the sweet & spicy mustard for a real hit. This would be a great place to hit up after work for a nice brew and some fries...my advice would be to stay away if you're interested in other menu options, however.

I will confess that I have only had one thing here because I love it so much: the Dancin' Desiree. Its a delicious vegetarian flatbread sandwich with butternut squash, roasted red peppers, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and black beans. Paired with Kay Bob's spicy mango sauce its just about the perfect lunch. They also have a wide selection of other offerings but I cannot speak to those as I walk in, get my DD, and don't glance at the menu. They have great local craft brew offerings as well. A word of advice, though, is to avoid this place during peak lunch hours. The Vanderbilt crowd flocks here and the space is very small and crowds quickly. The staff is very sweet and the food is quick so if you can do and early or late lunch I'd recommend this spot.

We are in town visiting Nashville for the first time. We didn't look up any reviews or any research. We just drove around and stumbled onto this place. I have mixed feelings about this place. Walking in it seemed to be more of a restaurant, but it's very informal. So no host or sign saying to seat yourself. So you are on your own there. We came on a Sunday night so it wasn't that busy, even though it was trivia night. For food - you go up to the counter and they bring it over. The food is all hormone free and organically grown. It was pretty tasty and unique. I would never have put shrimp, rice, marinara, pita and mixed veggies together. They did and it works on the Flame Grilled Shrimp Platter. It was reasonably priced for around $16 including a soda. For Brews - I thought it was pretty impressive, most of them are local brewa. Again, you need to go up to the counter to order and its at the same place you order your food. Overall I would definitely come back, now that I know how things work. No waitresses!

  • Erin B.

ordered the Big Bibb salad to go. Would not order it again (or anything else of their menu). Their salads are 95% lettuce. Very skimpy on all of the toppings and they forgot to include the raspberry vinaigrette. Sounds delicious on the menu...very disappointing in reality. Save your money for elsewhere.

Whoa! So many of my favorite reviewers love this place...I had to go check out! I was bummed. I ordered the Uncle Bob (locally grown ground beef) Flatbread Sandwich. It was a hamburger that had been cooked served rolled up with a little piece of tomato and lots and lots and lots of lettuce. If there were other veggies, they weren't that noticeable. The dressing or sauce on the lettuce was nice. The fries (natural cut) were served up hot and crispy on the outside with tender inside...and they were perfect. If not for the fries, Kay Bob's would have only garnered two stars from me. $10 bucks for this was lame-o. One really neat thing about about this place is they make their own sauces. I had the sweet mustard and it was really nice. I will go back and try some more things... especially the sauces.

  • Kristin Marie S.

So. Cheap. This review is for beer only and seriously, it's one of the best happy hours in town. You must go if you are broke and need a beer. The decor is just fine, they have garage doors that open to Hillsboro, it's clean, the staff is friendly. Oh and it's non-smoking, HOORAY! Really, there's not much to critique about the place. Beer me.

    (4)
  • Katie R.

Blaaaaaand! The food was so tasteless! I was surprised and extremely disappointed. The only saving grace was the collection of different dipping sauces, but even those couldn't save the bland, tasteless meat. The bread was too thin, the meat wasn't spiced enough, the fries weren't anything special. I'm stupefied this place has so many positive reviews. Also, the menu was way too long and could benefit from being shorter and more boiled down. There's no point of having such an extensive menu if half the food is tasteless. Save your money and go elsewhere.

  • Patrick B.

My absolute favorite place to eat in Nashville! Great location near Hillsboro Village, great atmosphere in the restaurant itself. Staff is always nice and friendly. Always a decent crowd but you never really have to wait, so it's a great option for an easy lunch or dinner. If you go, ordering a flat bread sandwich is a must. The Tammie Rae is my personal favorite - grilled chicken, cheese, coleslaw, and their special BBQ sauce on flat bread. All of their meat is cooked on skewers and fits perfectly into the bread. The sauce is terrific, just a little sweet and perfect both on the sandwich and with a side of fries.

  • Corey W.

I like this place for a change of pace for lunch. Flat bread sandwiches and skewered meats are pretty good. Most of the food give the impression that it is healthier than what you'll get at most other lunch places which is a plus though I've never dug through the nutrition fact to see if that is actually true. My biggest complaint is they seem pretty slow with getting your food out. I walked in at 2 and there was no one else waiting on an order and it seemed like it took 20 minutes to get my sandwich. Their sauces are pretty awesome. Definitely try them all the next time you are there AND now you can purchase a jar to take home your favorite flavor. (I am fairly convinced they do the whole jar thing only because I kept asking one of the managers if I could get their sauce to go and told him they should start canning it. A few months later they were selling it in canning jars.)

Good food and good beer selection but a little pricey for what you get. The Buddy Duke had tender steak and a good horseradish sauce.

I came a week ago for dinner and generally visit Kay Bob's a couple times a month on Mondays when I'm in the area. I ordered the "Uncle Bob" which to me is a effectively a gyro with kubideh and my favorite there, along with the house-cut fries, which normally is delectable. Fyi...kubideh is Persian ground beef with onions and spices and it tastes like lamb when done right. The sandwiches all have cheerful names like "Cluckin' Casey" and "Aunt Kay", which I occasionally order but it's not as tasty. I've also had the Grilled Chicken Platter, but it's average, and not as good of a value. On Mondays and perhaps on other nights, too, a premium draft beer is only $2 with an entree. The only complaint I ever have is how long it takes to get my order, since I'm dying to eat my "Uncle Bob" sandwich!

  • Otis G.

Here for KayBobs's daily cheap pint, and as usual I'm not disappointed - Czann's IPA is a very good local beer. I continue to dig KayBob's cheap beer and support for the local beer industry. And I must say (again) KB's always has great service, great flat bread sandwiches and cheap beer/food. I really like this place ! Another great experience.

Great prices and great beer selection. They have a "Craft Beer of the Day" everyday for $2.75. The sweet potato chips are a steal for $1.25. Tons of T.V's and a nice patio area.

Kay Bob's is seriously a good place to hang with friends and enjoy some really good food. The wraps, fries, and sweet potato fries are among my favorites and are absolutely delicious. The rotating beer selection ensures you will always find something you like, especially on Wednesdays after 4 pm when they have growler fills for only $6. Unfortunately, I haven't made it out for trivia night yet but I certainly plan to. I highly recommend Kay Bob's as a must stop on anyone's to-do-list. Also, hope for nice weather so you can enjoy the patio.

Flatbread sandwiches is what Kay Bob's specialize in but they also offer pizza on their menu too. I decided to give them a whirl last weekend as I needed to work a bit on my laptop and I noticed that they offered complimentary Wi-Fi. I appreciated that they offered veg-friendly options including the Annabelle's Acre ($6.95) sammich that included marinated squash, peppers, onions, tomatoes, sprouts and cheese. I excluded the cheese due to my diet and opted for some of their sweet & spicy mustard instead. You also receive a side-item so I opted for the healthier alternative to fries: Black bean & corn salad. I was a bit underwhelmed by the sandwich as it was pretty basic and didn't offer very much in quantity for the open-faced flatbread that was laid out on my plate. There just seemed to be an uneven ratio of veggies to bread. The black bean & corn salad was a highlight however. The staff was very friendly and doting throughout my visit and the cashier repeatedly came out to check to see if I needed anything. I was a little surprised that besides me hanging out with my laptop for a couple of hours, the place was very slow on a Saturday during prime lunch hours. I saw only one other customer sit and dine and one carryout customer between 12:30 - 2:30pm. Perhaps they are busier during the evenings as I noticed beer and happy hour special promoted throughout the open and airy space. I may give a Kay Bob's another chance as I am curious to try the Dancin' Desiree ($7.50) sandwich but I don't think that I have any reason to rush back.

Awesome dive! Kay Bob's was delicious, affordable and a great place for a meetup. Located on 21st near the outskirt of Hillsboro Village, Kay Bob's surprisingly delivered when it came to a quick dinner. I strolled in around 5 p.m. on a Thursday and besides the 4 people working, I was the only one there. Cha-ching! I made friends with the lady at the register and got her recommendation on the sandwich. I went for a veggie flat bread with sprouts and creamy cucumber sauce. Added a little feta and it became a party...in my mouth. Except that I wasn't sure how to get down my gullet. The food was fresh and light making this gal eager to hit up Kay Bob's for round two.

This place was great and I will definitely be going back. I ordered the Greek burger with fries (only like $9.80) and was impressed. The fries were hot and fresh. I guess I didn't read closely enough and didn't realize the meat would come in a pita wrap - which was totally fine. The meat was juicy and flavorful; the wrap was thick but not too bready; there were tomatoes, onion, feta and a cucumber sauce. All of it was delicious. I saw several things on the menu I want to try. There's also local beer sold. The crowd was mixed with a lot of young people (to be expected as its by Vandy). There's a nice big patio, open seating and decent parking in the back.

This location has been multiple business over the past 5 years or so. But this place will likely stick. Highly recommended to those with a more eclectic taste and enjoy fairly healthy options. Good value as well. Great atmosphere. For a local, this is go-to spot for sure.

meet friends, have a few pints of regional or local craft beer, order some grilled food. A simple concept, but well-done. Outdoor and indoor seating and $2 pints within walking distance of Vanderbilt? Score. Food here is solid, and my vegetarian friends happily munch sweet potato chips, grilled veggies in pita, the Dancin' Desiree, which has black beans, goat cheese, roasted red pepper, caramelized onions and butternut squash puree, Greek salad, and many other options. Meat eaters will appreciate that all meats, chicken to pork to beef, are hormone-free. Icing on the cake? All menu items, except for one are under $10. Dinner platters range from $7.95 for veggie to $10.95 for the steak platter, which includes grilled steak, rice and grilled veggies. Again I say, score.

Love it. The Dancin' Desiree, Aunt Kay, and Greek Burger Bob are my favorite wraps so far. The salads are delicious and fresh. I like the fruit tea, but there is an excellent beer selection when the mood hits me. Everything is healthy and tasty. This place is a fantastic addition to the local eats.

I went to Kay Bob's a few times last summer, looking for an easy lunch. Accomplished. I like the Greek salad with grilled chicken. No muss, no fuss. The open windows out front create a fresh, breezy atmosphere that's a welcome respite from an air conditioned, fluorescent-lit office domain. After several months apart, I've reunited with Kay Bob's. My recent visits have been in the evening, during which I sampled the sweet potato chips (get all the sauces) and the Kubideh dinner platter. I was impressed with the seasoning of the meat, and the generous portion sizes. The main thing I dig about Kay Bob's nowadays is the beer pricing. The selection is expansive, and the $2 special is a great deal for a microbrew. Cheap pitchers (read: jumbo mason jars) are also fantastic. This is a great option for a menu and beer selection that appeals to diverse tastes, is easy on the wallet, and in a convenient location.

I like Kay Bob's because I live next door and they have some healthy options for decent prices. I wish the portions were a bit heartier, but they are filling with the sandwiches, just not exceptionally filling. The quality is there though, and as far as flatbread style sandwiches go they have a great selection. You can bring pizzas from next door over, so its a good place to stop by with a group since everyone can get something to eat. Fast service, affordable, and tasty. Works for me.

I think I like Kay Bob's more and more every time I go! 4 stars are no longer enough. The vegetarian quesadilla-like Dancin' Desiree with sweet potato chips and spicy mango sauce is DA BOMB. It's so good I'm bringing back terminology from 1997. The dancin' desiree is the best in my opinion because it has black beans, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, butternut squash and goat cheese. Seriously, it's dope. All that and a bag (read: side) of (sweet potato) chips. And now that it's warm enough to open those garage doors but not so hot that you stick to the seats? I'm down. Seriously, at this point if anyone asks where I want to eat for lunch I'mma request getting jiggy with Kay Bob's.

Pretty good, healthy choice for food. Had the salmon sandwich w/grilled veggies. Had all the stuff on it that the nutritionist people tell us is good for us. Only drank water. For two ppl, it was $26 though for two sandwiches, one side & one soda.

Kay Bob's has come a long way. My first experience was incredibly negative, I was ticked off. I have been back several times since then, at first drawn in by great drink deals ($1 yuenglings, $2 drafts, finally growlers.) but later to eat as well. The food remains high quality and the fact that you can order from Pizza Perfect and have it brought to Kay Bob's while you have high quality beer is a huge plus. Their sandwiches and platters remain very high quality, but it is always nice to have options. I am very pleased that Kay Bob's has found their groove. Great deals on beer, good food, and options. It is going to join my regular rotation until further notice.

I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. You get so much food and it's so damn tasty. Got Uncle Bob flatbread. You bite into it thinking lamb, though its appearance is similar to a sausage link, but its beef! Cucumber sauce paired excellent, and theres NOTHING better than house cut fries. The staff here is great. Environment is very open as well.

I had never heard of Kay Bob's until my fiance and I received an event invite that took place here (which really didn't turn out to be much of an event, lol). We arrived at the place early and got a good seat. Their back parking lot was full so we had to find an alternate parking spot. i am a big fan of kielbasa, so I ordered their kielbasa sandwich and fries. The sandwich was huge, but was definitely tasty. I also enjoyed their fries, which were crispy, just the way I like them. i also ordered a caesar salad to go with my meal, which was great. Hopefully my fiance and I will go back soon so I can try one of their burgers. :)

Trivia Tuesdays! I love the craft beer selections and their flat bread sandwiches. It's all good! Try the Greek, Beef, and Veggie flatbread sandwiches. Location outside, great healthy flatbreads, and terrific craft beers!

Ate here again, Dancing Desiree...VERY GOOD and VERY FILLING. Since my daughter is in the children's hopsital, and I don't have a car up here, there's limited options for vegetarian eating, but this seriously hits the spot. LOVELY, and I'd recommend it to even the heartiest meat eater, you won't be hungry after you finish this sandwich (if you can finish it that is!)

I REALLY want to give them a higher rating. I think I just need to figure out what to order here. I had the Santa Fe salad, and it was just eh. It was good, but a lot of lettuce to go with not a whole lot of yummy toppings (the toppings were yummy, just scarce). The sauces, however, are to die for. Specifically, the BBQ and cucumber. The bleu cheese dressing was amazing, and the black bean hummus is awesome! I will come back and will just Try not to be as "healthy"! ;-)

It's hard to fit KayBob's into a regular restaurant category but it's a fun experience. The flatbread sandwiches are pretty good, especially with the spicy mango sauce. The sweet potato chips are also quite delicious. The real deal is in the beer menu because with an entree, you can get a glass of beer for just $2. Couple that with pretty good atmosphere and TVs to watch sports games on, and you have a fun little hangout you can go to with friends to eat and drink, catch up, and watch a game.

Definitely time to update my review! Since last time, they have expanded the menu to add new sandwiches, platters and appetizers for omnivores, vegetarians and vegans. My current favorite is the Dancin' Desiree (roasted squash, roasted red pepper, black beans, goat cheese...best with the spicy mango sauce) and the chicken salad platter. Another fine addition is the excellent selection of beer at insane prices! During happy hour and game days (this time of year, that is almost every day!) domestic drafts are $1 and imports/crafts are $2.

I ate here for dinner yesterday and it was immaculate. The bread was fresh and the chicken was delicious! I got the spicy mango and they gave me an extra side of cucumber sauce just to try, and I am glad I got to try some of that cucumber sauce because it was yummy and so was the spicy mango. They were not too crowded but they told me they just opened 3 weeks ago and had their grand opening thursday so hopefully business will pick up for them! I know I will definitely be back... I think I am going to try the "uncle bob" next time. great location and good selection of beer as well.

The food is amazing. EVERYTHING is fresh, you can watch as your meal is cooked to order (this isn't "fast food," people!), and the menu is varied and interesting. My favorite sandwiches are the Dancin' Desiree, Jasper's Junk (teehee), and Uncle Bob. The sides can stand on their own (the fries and sweet potato chips are dangerously addictive!). The employees are friendly and helpful, the beer selection is respectable, the prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is pleasant. What more could you ask for? Go!

Kay Bob's is a great establishment on many fronts; food, price, beer selection, special events, they have a lot going for them. Most importantly, the food is great. I have yet to try any of their salads so I unfortunately cannot comment on those. I have, however, had most of their sandwiches and dinner platters. I have tried almost all of the sandwiches and I was rarely disappointed. My recommendations are the Aunt Kay, Zeke the Greek, and Dancin' Desiree. Aunt Kay is really just grilled chicken with some veggies, but the spicy mango sauce it comes with really makes the sandwich shine. Zeke the Greek is another chicken sandwich, but like it's name, it comes with feta cheese and a cucumber dressing. The Dancin' Desiree is by far my favorite sandwich in the house; black beans, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and butternut squash, it's heaven. Even if you are a carnivore you owe it to yourself to try this sandwich. There were some sandwiches I didn't love too much. The Uncle Bob, Buddy Duke, and Jasper's Junk were not my favorites. They weren't bad in terms of quality, but they were definitely your standard/safe/boring choices, and with the other offerings Kay Bob's has these sandwiches hold no sway for me. Also, I should note that the sandwiches come on a flat bread that is folded in half, NOT on a bun. Some reviewers and people I've eaten with were not expecting this (it's printed very clearly on the menu, but I digress). Moving on, you get your choice of white or wheat FLAT BREAD and each sandwich comes with fries. I have never tried the fries myself, but I hear they aren't that great. My first time there I substituted my fries with sweet potato chips, and I have never looked back. I have also subbed in their black bean hummus, and their black bean and corn salad. Both are quite good and worthy of your consideration, but their lord of the sides will always be their chips. Their dinner platters are available after 4pm. There is not much to say about them because they are basically deconstructed versions of their sandwich dishes. You get your meat of choice, some rice, veggies, a sauce, and the bread on the side. In addition to all the great food I just blathered on about, Kay Bob's has a great selection of local and regional craft beers. You can get them by the pint, pitcher, and you can also get growlers filled. They have many ways to drink on the cheap too. I can't remember all the specials but you can basically get a $2 pint of beer any time, any day, and let's not forget that this is for craft beer, not just the domestics. The final thing about Kay Bob's that makes me love them is they are an excellent choice if you are trying to eat healthy. All their meats are local and hormone/anti-biotic free. You have multiple options for sides if you don't want fries. You can get any sandwich made vegan if you are so inclined. Kay Bob's rocks. P.S. I used the word "sandwich" alot...

I stopped by Kay Bob's rather early on a weekday, after leaving the Vanderbilt campus. I was the only person there around 3:30 or so. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was that the person behind the counter taking orders was on her phone (not voice). I found that a bit odd, as typically phones are pretty much banned when you work in the service industry. While this same person wasn't outright rude, she wasn't very welcoming either as I glanced over the menu. It should be noted that once you get a sandwich, a side, and a drink, you're no longer sitting within the single "$" range. The sweet potato chips were cheap ($1), but I swear they tasted exactly like ones you can buy in a bag at a grocery store - and they were inordinately greasy. The sandwich itself was good (got the Greek-style chicken one), but the chicken sometimes had a burnt taste. Thankfully, the sandwich was huge. (I would probably not recommend eating it all at once. I did and later regretted it.) They did seem to have a rather extensive beer selection and the fruit tea was pretty good. I imagine this would be a good place to meet some people and hang out if that's your style. Perhaps it will impress me more when I try it again.

This was our first time at the restaurant and the person at the cashier was helpful and explained to us the menu in detail. Me and my wife both are vegetarian and the cashier person suggested us two flat bread options. We ordered the Dancin' Desiree and some fries as side dish with mango sauce. We were not sure how it would be since this was the first time to go for a flat bread sandwich. We were served in some time and it was really great. Both of us loved the pumpkin based with beans, pepper and especially the mango sauce. It all went very well together. Over all a very nice experience and nice ambiance too .... A must place to go for tasting a very different kinds flat bread menu options ....

I had the salmon dinner plate-- huge mistake. The portion size was pitiful for the price and it gave me diarrhea afterwards. The 6 others in my group all had a good experience though, so if you go DO NOT GET FISH.

Since moving up here, I have tried several burger joints. Some have been good, others have been so horrible and greasy I dare not touch them again. Then there is Kay Bob's and they have, hands down, the best burgers and fries I have had since moving here, period. Like some other burger joints here in town they use locally available meats and vegetables; however, unlike other places their ground meats contain immense flavor and the vegetables are fresh. But most importantly, their fries are perfection and not swimming in grease! They even have vegetarian options and though I did not have one, their salads look delicious. All in all this is a great place and I highly recommend it, even though all their "burgers" are all served on flat bread. On the up-side, in a wrap-like flat bread they are easy to eat on the go. So yeah, if you have not tried this place.... What Are You Waiting For?!

I went to Kay Bob's twice in one week, that's how delicious it was. The first time, I had the Scoutmob, but the girl at the register didn't know how to apply it. This led to a lot of confusion, a really long wait, followed by apologies and a note saying I was entitled to another try at the Scoutmob. Most was forgiven when the food ended up being delish, and I really did cash in that Scoutmob the next week anyways. I've tried the Dancing Desiree and the Jasper's Junk, both equally delicious but in different ways. The Dancing is vegetarian with lots of goat cheese and loaded with flavor. Try it with the mango sauce. The flatbread is crispy, the veggies cooked perfectly and the flavors are SO yum. The Jasper comes with a mustardy sauce that makes it grand. I've recently been to Germany, and I must say, this sauerkraut comes close. The sausage is tasty as well. The flavors just blow me away here, such great quality. The sides are okay- I've had the cole slaw and the bean corn salad. Neither as good as the flatbread themselves. The sweet potato chips are good, though. Go here- I don't want this place to go away!

What a tucked away little place..found it as I was walking down the street and decided to check it out. Super friendly staff, very hands on owner. I met him he was very informative and helpful in explaining the menu and made suggestions. The food was fresh and very good. I will be back..the soup was GREAT!

Kay Bob's is in a great spot for a drink after work and some appetizers. Seems to be busiest around happy hour, when everyone from Vanderbilt is getting out of work or classes, but it's deck and open layout provides for a good amount of seating. I usually am here for a cheap beer or cider and some french fries. It's a big bowl of fries for a great price...every time I come here, someone orders them to share. You can also order from Pizza Perfect next door and have it "delivered" to your table. They'll also let you try a sample of their beers on tap. The one time I ordered a sandwich (their Dancin' Desiree), it was pretty good - some different ingredient combos that I really enjoyed. The cashiers/waitresses are a little bit inconsistent. I've spent time waiting in line as one cashier takes all of the orders while their coworkers are chatting with customers who have already paid. There's been a few times where I approach an empty counter and staff walk by with no acknowledgement that someone will be there soon to take my order or ring me up. All in all, a great place to hang out, grab a few drinks with friends and relax after a long day.

I was pleasantly surprised by Kay Bob's. It's near my office and I had a Scoutmob 50% off deal, so I stopped in for a late lunch one afternoon on a recommendation from a coworker. I had the Dancing Desiree, a flatbread melt with black beans, squash puree, goat cheese, roasted red peppers and onions. I was impressed when I saw it on the menu - I didn't expect such a robust vegetarian option. The flatbread was awesome - fresh baked, warm, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The sandwich itself was fairly bland until I slathered on some of the house made spicy mango sauce that accompanied it (on recommendation from the super friendly guy behind the counter). The sauce took the sandwich from a 6 to a 10! I don't know how I feel about a sauce improving a sandwich that much, but it was so so good. I feel like Kay Bob's has a bit of a branding crisis. It wasn't what I expected from the kebab-inspired name or the cartoony logo, and the chandeliers inside were cute and confusing. I'm glad I didn't let that keep me away.

I've got high hopes for Kay Bob's! After reading the somewhat mixed reviews on yelp, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Flash to Monday when I get a ScoutMob coupon in my inbox for 50% off Kay Bob's and couple that with the fact that it is in walking distance from work-sounds like a lunch outing to me! I was very, very pleased with my meal. I ordered the Dancing Desiree, which is a black bean, butternut squash, goat cheese, red pepper concoction in a flatbread. You also choose your own sauce-I went for spicy mango which was super tasty. I loved the sandwich and I ordered a side of sweet potato chips (I have a major weakness for sweet potato anything). They also gave me a tiny side of cole slaw-which I found to be sweet and tangy and not overly mayoed. Especially after the Scoutmob- my meal was around $5- this was a fantastic lunch. I was also pleased to discover that they offer 2 for 1 draft beers after five-EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK!. And they serve Yazoo! I'll definitely be back to check that out.

I stopped in for lunch at Kay Bob's today with a group of 8 people. The food was excellent. I really enjoyed the flatbread a lot, and the ingredients were all fresh. The service was really good. The only complaint would be the price (my flatbread + sweet potato chips + fountain drink was ~$10.50). If it was about $1 less, it would be perfect. I will definitely go again, but I'd probably make it a weekly lunch destination if it was a little cheaper.

Kay Bob's is quickly becoming a go-to spot for meeting my Vandy grad-student husband for a beer and dinner on weeknights, as well as a great place to do some work when the coffee shops are crazy busy on a Sunday. First off, they have really really cheap beer on tap. The cups are the plastic ones from sister restaurant Pizza Perfect, so perhaps smaller than a standard pint...but for a $2.50 Yuengling, I'll live with it. They also have the usual Yazoos for a bit more, but still cheap. To go with the cheap beer (and smoke-free-ness!!!) have a basket of sweet potato chips...freshly cut and fried, they are entirely too addicting. Luckily, too, they are also cheap. And to top it off, the food is yummy! I'm happy to have something healthy and homemade in contrast to most places I frequent for happy hour and the subsequent meals after happy hour when no one wants to go home and cook. The wrap with the butternut squash puree and goat cheese is an inventive combination, but was a little heavy on the squash the time I tried it. The chicken is marinated in a combination of spices (saffron, cumin...etc...) and juicy. The flatbread itself is perfect...makes me wish Pizza Perfect would use a similar recipe. It's also really cute in there, with a variety of tables that can accommodate large groups, as well as a bar counter along the edge for lone diners. They have a handful of TVs too for sports-watching. There's even a HUGE table in a pretty private nook (with an awesome red chandelier) that would make a great space for a study group or an office lunch. And now it's nice out, the garage doors are open, and the people watching along 21st is even better!

I've passed by this place these past several months and always assumed they were closed. I don't know why I never considered that the papered windows could also mean they were preparing to open. I was actually walking my way towards Broadway to look for Mexican food and decided to pop in here, instead. Not knowing there was a mediterranean restaurant upstairs, I was really expecting a rice dish in this place. Instead, the menu featured a lot of sandwiches and salads. I also didn't know that the menu was a twist on traditional kebab. When I ordered their burger, I actually thought I was ordering a burger. When it came as ground meat wrapped in a flat bread, I was intrigued. I generally only eat 1 bun since hamburger buns are just too heavy for me, but this flat bread was great. The beef seemed a better quality than your typical burger. When I ordered at the counter, I'm fairly sure I ordered a salad, especially when she asked what type of dressing I wanted. I realize now that the dressing she was offering was for the "kebab". I was disappointed that my order came with no salad, but with fries, instead. One day I will check my receipt before I leave the counter. I was charged for fries. My order took a while, so I wasn't about to have my order re-done. Sadly, the fries were greasy. I did love the side of yam chips. I have to give props and an extra star to the honesty of the cashier who pointed out that I had a dollar on the floor next to me, which I knew dropped out of my pocket. A little boy headed back to his table was right behind her, ready to swoop down to get it had she not pointed it out to me.

Another solid restaurant in the Vandy area. The restaurant is very clean, and plenty of seating. Walking in, the manager was very friendly and greeted us and told us the lunch specials. We had a few in our group who hadn't been there before so he explained everything in more depth. I've eaten here twice and both times my sandwiches were good - but not great. The meat is grilled well - and is tasty. Likewise the vegetables seem to be very fresh and have good flavor. My biggest problem with the food is that the vegetables are so cold - that they immediately make the freshly grilled meat lukewarm. Everything is made to order - so I'd expect hot/warm food - not a room temp/ refrigerated sandwich. The sweet potato chips are the best side dish- I thought the fries and bean corn salad were pretty average. Overall the service is great, the food average. But there's really nothing else like it on 21st - so for those of you in the Vandy area who want some variety give it a try for lunch!

I went right after the typical lunch time rush, no line but I can't help feeling like a huge menu somewhere would help speed up the ordering process. If I was behind me in line, I'm not sure I would have been to excited. Overall good experience, I had the Dancin Desiree with the sweet and spicy sauce, very nice combo. This was my first time at Kay Bob's but it won't be my last, nice atmosphere and the fruit tea is pretty good as well. I recommend it if you've never had a flatbread wrap. . . .which you probably haven't, it's worth a try.

Got a takeout order of the veggie- it was not great....it looked good until I realized the cheese was just clumped in the middle....and it was just bland overall. Maybe I'll try again, maybe not. Edit: original review was way off- I've been back several times and everything is great. Plus a surprisingly awesome beer menu, and you can get growlers. Love this place!

I'm not a huge sandwich/wrap person, because since I can easily make a sandwich at home, I prefer to eat something else when I go out. But these wraps are really good. The ingredients are very flavorful, high quality, and fresh. I highly recommend this place when you want a quick, cheap, but healthy and fresh meal.

After returning to Kay Bob's a second time, I've decided that I like it. This time, I had the sandwich filled with a bunch of veggies and goat cheese (Dancing Desiree, I think), and it tasted fresh and delicious. And it was filling! I went with the spicy mango as my sauce for the sandwich, and I loved it! Perfect amount of sweet and spicy for a sandwich. I loved the sweet potato chips as the side, although I found them to be a little on the salty side. All in all, it was a pleasant lunch (and the Scoutmob deal made it that much better!). I think what makes Kay-Bob win is the fact that the concept is fairly unique in the area, even though the sandwiches themselves may not be the best around. I like the garage door being open too as it has gotten warmer out - great lunch spot in the Vandy area!

Why is this place not swamped? I've walked by or have driven by a hundred times usually going to the more crowded but incredibly average pizza joint next door. Decided to give it a try, smart move! Best chicken kabob sandwich and Cole slaw in town. All the pocket breads are made fresh for each sandwich. Great set up, clean, friendly, helpful, good TVs, open to street. Forget that traditional hang the pizza joint next door and enjoy a quality meal and great set up.

Love the Greek Burger Bob and an awesome beer selection. Plus the staff was very friendly. When undecided on a beer selection, they offered tastings any many beers until I made my choice. Will definitely be back. Plus they had a great jazz band called Krewe performing. Great food, staff, beer, and music makes for a great vibe!

Kay Bob's flat bread sandwiches are a step up from the average skewed kebab. Starting is the chemical free meat and produce from local growers, when possible. Sauces are made on site including two distinctive sauces, the teary horseradish and the spicy mango. After the kebab is grilled it is folded into a hot flat bread sandwich. They come with a side like Bean Corn Salad or sweet Sesame Slaw. Kay Bob's is big on salads with half a dozen choices including Black and Bleu with steak & veggies and the Santa Fe we enjoyed made with chicken, cheeses, romaine, tomatoes and beans. Its well done, spiffy, bright with lots of windows and I think it will be there for years to come!

This place was exactly what I was looking for after a long day walking around Nashville for the first time. Located near Vanderbilt, this place is definitely geared towards a hipster/college crowd. The gentleman manning the front was very helpful (and not bad on the eyes, either). Upon learning it was my friend and my first time there, he really explained their menu to us and told us about the $2 beer with and sandwich or plate - WHAT!?!? Best deal ever, if you ask me, especially since all of their taps (maybe 12?) were craft beers! The low down - they marinate all of their meat overnight in Greek yogurt and saffron and spices, it's all antibiotic and hormone free, and they cook their whole wheat of white flat bread to order! This information swayed me away from a vegetarian salad, and I'm so glad it did! I had the "Zeke the Greek" flat bread sandwich, with a fruit cup and a Fat Bottom Knockout IPA. It was WONDERFUL! The chicken in the wrap was so tender and flavorful, the kalamata olives were delicious, and the flatbread was warm and wonderful. I loved every bite! If you're in the area and looking for a healthy and delicious meal, I can't recommend this place enough! I wish we had one back home!

ridiculous goodness! easy breezy - made our whole pack happy - some people got pizza (you can order off the pizza perfect menu & it magically appears) and subs (again from The Perfect).... the rest of us, basked in the beauty of Persian beef, remarkable grilled vegetables, omg the chicken...and the basking in spicy mango + cucumber sauces we now have a food coma and have been transported to nirvana ps: the drinkers are still going - having filled up their growlers and stuff

Tasty food fast, details need work. We ordered from Kay-Bob's last night (take-out) for the first time and our food was fresh, above-average for a kabob stand, and ready in a reasonable amount of time. My Sante Fe salad ($8.95) was made entirely with fresh, dark lettuce and had warm, juicy chicken breast on it- a nice alternative to the sea of iceberg typically found in this siutation. The side of sweet potato chips ($2.95) were good but not worth the price- pricing on all sides appears to be off. It might be better if flatbreads didn't come with a side, and the side either cost less or had a better price/portion ratio. We were also disappointed that there was no website or online menu- a must for any takeout business in 2011, doesn't have to look fancy! Trying to interact with the store worker was hilarious, as I don't think I've encountered someone that stoned since high school. To his credit and our patience, our order was completely correct. We'll be back, but there are clearly some kinks that need to be worked out before Kay-Bob's realizes its full potential as a cheap, tasty fast-food alternative located right next to a hospital and college campus that lo-o-ove takeout.
