Relocated to Elm Hill Pike! How thankful I am to have found them a few months ago in an area that needed and loves the best pizza in Nashville and the wonderful family that provides the same fantastic service with lots of authentic Italian style! Open until 3, in many visits I've found the customers are a mix of the workforce from the area, Nashville's loyal customers whose cravings for Joey's must be met, and tourists passing through who've been given excellent info! Don't worry if the line is out the door... it's always moving quickly and there's good reason for the popularity! I could've just said YUM, but that's only the beginning!

Being born and raised in Brooklyn, eating pizza was a regular occurrence. Having left NYC, It's tough to find good pizza pretty much anywhere. Joey's fulfills that authentic NYC pizza craving - from the food to the ambiance. The walls are littered with NYC memorabilia and the owner / workers are very Italian. There's a hustle and sense of urgency that is reminiscent of a NYC business - the line keeps moving and the chit-chat amongst workers/clientele is kept to a minimum for maximum efficiency. Southern hospitality is thrown out the window to keep up with the huge amount of orders it receives daily. The pizza tastes great and the cheese is fresh. The marinara sauce is delicious as well. What keeps this from earning a 5 star Review? The slices are pretty small and while affordable, are pricey. Two cheese slices came out to $5, which is what I would be paying in midtown Manhattan. The hours are also extremely limited. All that being said I will be a frequent visitor. Thank you Joey's!

As a former New Yorker, I am a proud pizza snob so I was thrilled to find Joey's House of Pizza to take me home again and again. Whether you order pizza, salads, heroes, (ok, call them subs if you must,) pasta, or their delicious cannoli (regular or chocolate!) your expectations will be exceeded many times over. The sauce is fresh, flavorful and just plain outstanding, the meatballs are light, fluffy and tasty, and the pizza is soft, chewy, cheesy goodness on a perfect crust. Pizzerias like this are on every street corner in NY, but you'll have to drive a bit to get here from Nashville but it's worth every inch of the way. At lunch time it gets pretty busy with a line generally out the door. The staff however is a well-oiled machine that cranks out the orders at amazing speed. I've been when it's busy, and also when it's slower around closing time, and for me, it's more fun to visit when it's busy to see everyone in action. What's not characteristically NY about Joey's is that everyone behind the line is so friendly, smiling at everyone who walks in the door, and making newcomers and old timers alike feel at ease. (The huge menu can be a little intimidating if you don't know what you want in advance.) It's a family business and each and every person is dedicated to delivering a top notch customer experience day in, day out. I do have one complaint about eating pie at Joey's: in two weeks you're hungry again!

How many good things can I say about this place? Let's start with what to expect if you've never been before. This place is VERY New York, which if you've been there, you'll LOVE it. The people are clearly from there, and the food is genuine to the claims. With that said, if you've never been North before, the speed and "rushed" feeling is present, especially as a new customer. My wife and I have spent time in NYC, so we felt comfortable in this atmosphere. We told the folks behind the counter this was our first time at Joey's and they were so kind and welcomed us! Let's discuss this FOOD shall we?! Isn't that the point of restaurants after all? The claims of Joey's being among the best pizza offered in all of Nashville are now substantiated. We all noted during lunch how we haven't had pizza like this since we were actually IN NYC. Their pies are SO GOOD. My wife and I whole-heartedly appreciate good, hot, well-prepared meals. All their food we tried was very well-seasoned and we could taste the extremely FRESH ingredients. We had the $10 lunch special which includes 2 slices, a side, and a drink. The slices were so tasty, but we were actually super surprised in the side of spaghetti. The servers aren't stingy, nor do they go cheap on you. The slice sizes were more than adequate and the spaghetti was a full plate with great flavor to both the fresh pasta AND the sauce. When you walk in, you're greeted by a long buffet style looking line where you can view all the tasty entrees displayed like a glorious feast before your eyes. Everything looks so good, it's part of what makes us so excited to return. We thought the lasagna and chicken parm looked EXCELLENT, in addition to their larger slices of double stacked pies. They also have superbly tasty looking cannoli... After our first adventure here, the only thing we left sad about is that they are only open M-F 11-3. We'd go ALL THE TIME if they were open more hours! We left talking about how amazing the food and experience was and how we couldn't WAIT to go back! There are so many things we want to try!

Best in class New York style pizza. I might as well be in New York with the efficiency and accents behind the counter. On your first visit, I highly recommend you grab the very unique gladiator as a lunch special. It's basically two thick slices of pizza jammed together and filled with all the good meats. Beyond that, their plain ol' pepperoni pizza is just the right amount of grease, cheese, thin crust, and sauce to make you feel like you should be walking down a Brooklyn sidewalk dripping grease all over. I've also sampled bits off of other people's plates on the pastas and been happy. To all of you whining about them being too efficient and northern: I'm running you over in line next time because I'm hungry.

The best NY style pizza, huge slices. The gladiator is the bomb and so are the chocolate covered cannolis mmmm! It's more for a whole pizza but you get so much food. My husband always enjoys visiting with the owners too when he goes, nice people.

This is the best pizza spot that few people know about. This New York-style pizzeria is a solid choice for a business lunch but you feel like you have to be in the know when you go in there. The two ladies that run everything make an awesome pizza but also make you feel a little intimidated if you're not sure what you want. It's so worth it but you must be decisive. I most recently came through and ordered two pizzas for the office. I called in at 11:00 AM and was told the wait was already back to 12:30. They're THAT busy! The pepperoni is one of the best slices I've had around town along with Desano and Five Points but they get a little more creative with some of their specialties. The smell is divine and my fiancee says the cannoli is as good as those she had in Italy. The pizza is new york style with a phenomenal crust. To me, that's the best part of the pizzas from here. You come in, smell the fresh pizza coming from the oven, and get the slice that has their perfect dough, fresh cheese, and classic taste. Pros: The smell, the feel, and the crust! Cons: The wait and semi-intimidating experience in their line. Overall: Be prepared with what you want and know that the Gladiator is enough to fill you up for an entire day. I love their Pepperoni slices and the Brooklyn feel to the place. It's so good!

Had lunch here based on previous reviews and were NOT disappointed. We arrived about 10 minutes before the rush, so Joey had time to explain the drill and the options. Great sense of humor! And the gal doing the actual work at the ovens was TERRIFIC... fast, efficient, wonderful attitude and customer-oriented. The food was very good, right out of the oven...not rescued from a heat lamp. The pasta options also looked yummy..gotta go back to try 'em. If we lived in Nashville, would dine here every week.

  • Chris A.

Been here several times. I've always gotten lasagna and salad. But after all the discussion about the pizza wars in Nashville I thought I would try their NY style pizza. And I am glad I did. I'm glad I don't come here often because I would be a fat bastard! The friendly lady convinced me to do the two slice plus side. I got spaghetti because their pasta red sauce is incredible. Great taste! The pizza : equal to that of five points : in terms of a NY style pizza. I devoured it. I would venture to say that as far as NY style, they share first place title with Five Points Pizza.

Heard so much about the pizza, just had to try it....and it is the best! We have traveled cross country in our RV and ate many slices of pizza but nothing compared to Joeys! The lunch special is $10 for 2 slices, a salad and a drink. The slice is loaded with pepperoni and cheese! The order taker is unbelievable ---she will ask 5-6 people in line what they want and have the orders in a minute....now I can see why they are only open from 11-3....she moves so fast she is exhausted after 4 hours! Will surely return and try the pastas and others items which all looked delicious!

Joeys Pizza is just open for lunch Monday through Friday and it's awesome pizza slices family-owned establishment and I believe the daughter loves her job and works harder than anyone I've ever seen they served great pizza. Get the gladiator

After the movie on Feb 2nd, we went to late lunch early dinner to Joey's House of Pizza..it was the first time we went here and they were getting ready to close. Literally, we walked in about 5-8 min before they were locking the doors. If I had checked my yelp site I would have known this and chose another place, so I am actually glad I didn't though...This place was fab...We went in and it is rather small, but very open and inviting. The color scheme is very ITALIAN...black, white and red with large very open style windows making the room look less small and giving you a great view of Nashville..I bet this view is gorgeous at night..but alas, their hours are only 11am to 3pm.. The serving counter area was loaded with pizza, pizza rolls, pastas and lasagna,... OMG..to many choices and all the food looked absolutely to die for... We were immediately greeted by this smiling young lady behind the counter..she asked what we would like to order and I told her it was our first time here and she immediately began to make suggestions, told us specials and even asked our likes..Very nice lady and after more conversation we found out that this was her family restaurant, her father was the "JOEY" and her mother was there behind the counter with her. Her father came out and we met him and she said her brother was in the back making dough for tomorrow..amazing!!! Noel opted for the double decker pizza called "the Gladiator" it was a stuffed pizza slice with tons of meat and cheeses with a rootbeer, I opted for a slice with pepperoni, onions and jalapeno peppers and coca cola, and Tony went with a pizza roll with water..We didn't have to wait long. When I realized that they were closing, I offered to have our food to go, but she said "SIT SIT"...please stay and enjoy...that was so nice and inviting. She also brought me a second slice with fresh mozzarella cheese and fresh cut basil for free and then she also brought us additional sauces for the side another great gift from her.. .It wasn't that expensive, it was like $24 for everything and she even gave us a sack of three pepperoni rolls to go home with us and wrote a personal note on the bag, Thanking us for coming and enjoying and inviting us back...OMG..those pepperoni rolls were awesome reheated in the oven..I am definitely going back to JOEY's Pizza and enjoying some more delicious food...especially those pepperoni rolls...Thanks so much !!! I can't wait to go back again...

There really isn't much to say. Either you think Joey's is amazing, or you're wrong. End of discussion. The crust is crispy, chewy, and flavorful. The sauce is simple and delicious. The cheese is cheese. Enough said.

Wowowowowowoowow. That's a bunch wow! Holy grail of Pizza. I've never tasted any so good. I got a gladiator special, which you can look at the pics for the just, but needless to say (but I'll say it anyway ) :] it was amazing. I can tell you two things off of my first experience: 1. Come hungry. 2. Don't expect to leave that way, and it ain't your low fat pizza. I had to put the phone down to dive back into it, yeah...it's that good. If you know of a better place to eat pizza...anywhere...PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!

Joeys Pizza is legit, no frills, no BS, they just get the job done. The vibes inside completely contradict the exterior of the building, it looks pretty fresh in there for a glorified cafeteria line. The pizza was fresh. Nothing fancy, just good stuff. Service was quick, the family running the show was friendly. The daughter was working the ovens, the mother was commanding the register and Joey was running the cold side. It was a very well oiled machine. All in all I plan on returning to Joeys for a slice of cheese pizza in the very near future. That being said, my only complaint and the only thing that prevents a 5 star review is the system they have in place for claiming your order. They have an intercom set up and the expo gal will call out the orders over the speakers when they are ready. The problem is that she just calls out vague things like "two slices of cheese pizza" or "slice of pepperoni." Obviously, this is an issue because there are often many similar orders in the dining room and this creates confusion for the guest. I don't think it's entirely too far fetched to arrange a numbered order system to eliminate uncertainty when you go to claim your slice. At any rate, Joeys, I will be back. You are a pleasant establishment in an unexpected location and I appreciate your diligent efforts to produce NY Style all the way down in Nashville.

Super delicious pizza. Thin and crispy just like I love. It was super crowded and we were still able to find seats by the window. The sauce has a good tomato taste and the cheese was plentiful. My husband added mushrooms to his pizza and they were sautéed in garlic. The owners are related and full of p and v. I loved this pizza.

  • Blake T.

Excellent, legit NY style pizza. Not much else to say. I'm not often in this area of town, but if I am I stop at Joey's for a slice.

  • Nikke R.

Fairly stressful if it is your first time. Try not to over think your order, just yell whatever sounds good on a pizza and it should work out just fine for you. The salads are really great, the dressing is the best part! Enjoy the "in your face" atmosphere and make sure you are paying attention when they are calling up orders that are ready. It's not Starbucks, they aren't going to be yelling your name. The pizza is worth the high stress level, promise.

Been to this place many many times and it never disappoints. They have the best pizza in Nashville hands down and the staff is a great group to interact with. Be sure to get there when they open the doors if you can because you'll find yourself standing in line if you don't, but it's well worth the wait. It's popular and has a long line for a reason. Try the gladiator...you won't regret it.

    (5)
  • Jeff O.

It reminds me a bit of NYC pizza joints where you have to move quickly through the line, although the people are much, much nicer. I had the Gladiator lunch deal, as that seemed the only way to go for my first visit to Joey's! Excellent choice!!! I look forward to many return trips, and I look forward to trying some of the other items, as they all looked really good. Get there early. 1115a, and the line was already about 15 people out the door. We were able to find seating for two fairly quickly, though.

  • Mark G.

As far as the food is concerned you won't find anything comparable in Nashville. This place is the real deal. A real New York pizzeria run by an Italian family from New York. They have the accents and hospitality to prove it. Only suggestions. Get there early because they pack em in soon after they open. And check out the menu BEFORE you get in line because it moves FAST. Just like New York!

  • Lisa B.

Well, I'm already mad at myself for not giving Joey's 5 stars. Consider this a 4.5. The pizza is amazing, and you basically don't get a more authentic New York experience anywhere in Nashville. If I was rating on the pizza alone, I'd give it 10 stars if I could. So why not 5 stars? Simple. I'm a little mad at them for only being open for weekday lunch and for being in kind of an inconvenient location. Oh man, if they were closer and open at more convenient times or on weekends... oh man. I have heard rumblings of a Joey's food truck, but I have yet to find it out and about. The odd location and the long line are 100% worth it for the pizza.

    (4)
  • Carol K.

Joey's is very NYC. It always stresses me out when people say that because I so often find it to be untrue. I don't care for NY Pie in West Nashville and their pizza doesn't remind my of NYC pizza - JOEY'S is what I am looking for! I love the rush and the family atmosphere. I did see that some people think ordering is stressful but I didn't find it to be. Just have an idea of what you want and talk to them! They are happy to help. I get 2 slices + salad and a drink at lunch and I think it's $10. When they get hectic you may have to remind them what you are waiting on, but it doesn't matter because it is fun to watch them at work throwing pizzas around and they are so friendly. I wish they would open on occasional weekends but while I work downtown they will be in my lunch rotation.

Quite possibly the world's perfect food at its best. Supreme service, menu options and quality!

Pizza to die for. I literately take clients in Nashville just so I can lunch at Joey's. The staff is great and the food is well worth the drive.

  • Kelly Ann W.

A total 10....I'm from Jersey and this place is perfect! Like a li'l taste of home. Sauce, cheese, bread...all spot on. How did I not weigh 500 lbs when I lived there? ONLY complaint is they aren't open enough (for me), but it's very smart on their part. If you want to know what (NY) pizza is supposed to taste like - this is THE place.

    (5)
  • Victoria H.

OK, I agree. They have the best pizza in Nashville. I ordered a slice of pizza and lasagna. When I got back to my car, I took a bite of pizza and immediately went back in for a second slice. I am 4 months pregnant and have been craving pizza. Been reading reviews and trying different places out. No one has satisfied my taste until now. I going back today!!

  • Joshua H.

Best Pizza restaurant in Nashville! Always order a slice or two of the Gladiator if you are hungry.

  • John P.

The best pizza in the south! I judge pizza by the cheese pizza and Joey's is my favorite. As much as I love the cheese pizza, the Gladiator is a must!

  • Johny A.

First time here! I must say this spot is pretty damn good! I usually go over to sals pizzeria , but this spot " to me " is a bit better ... Sauce tastes amazingly FRESH! I tried there famous GLADIATOR PIZZA*** off the chain good! Location is type far , they should really consider opening up another location , and as far as them being from Ny , not sure ... I didn't have the pleasure of meeting the owner or any affiliated family members to confirm that! lol

I had the Chicken Parmesan combo. I was the best I have had in the two years I have lived in TN. Can't wait to go back!!

  • Lisa B.

Super service! Nice and speedy. Set up like a line, pick your stuff, they pop it in the oven, good to go. Menu is hard to see if you aren't in line and there is always someone behind you. The gladiator is MASSIVE. 2 story pizza, cheese galore with sausage and pepperoni. Served with sauce on the side so it won't get soggy (so thoughtful) Plain Pepperoni slice was so good. After it's out of the oven, they top it with some more moz and fresh basil. Nice touch. Location is a bit odd, but way worth it.

    (5)
  • Linda P.

Wow....Phenomenal everything! Gladiator will blow your mind with all of its cheesy and meaty deliciousness and the lasagna is the best I have ever had. It is worth working your schedule to when they are open because once you have Joey's, you will not want anything else....

  • Katie M.

LOVE this place!!! There are only open 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. That is my only complaint. When I do get there, I stock up! The pizza, lasagna, meatballs, everything is amazing. A must have is the Gladiator, it comes with a side of their sauce. Order extra sauce, it is not from a can and has a slight sweet taste to it. There is ALWAYS a line and a good reason for it. If ordering a whole pizza to go, order before arriving or the day before, they are that busy. It is very small inside, very limited seating, arrive as they open. Worth the wait! A must try in Nashville, you will not be disappointed.

  • Eddie M.

This was my first time going here and it exceeded any recommendation from the locals. I went with the gladiator and a slice of pepperoni pizza this time and they were terrific. I will certainly be back and looking forward to trying something different.

  • Tim B.

This restaurant has a New York style feel to it. This is the best pizza in Nashville. My friends an I started going once a week. The gladiator is amazing and so much food. We decided to create the gladiator challenge (gladiator, spaghetti, and a coke). We made it but the rest of the day was the challenge.

This would be 4 stars for the food and service, but the limited parking situation and the face that they are only open for lunch drop it down. I felt a little intimidated ordering just because the line moves so fast and everyone seemed to know the process but me. However the employees were really helpful and nice and i felt at ease by the time i got my food. I had never had NY style pizza before and while I'm usually a fan of thicker crust, I have to say I enjoyed folding the pizza in half. There really is no other feasible way to eat it. The grease dripped down my hand in a good way and I wished I had ordered another slice. The topping sauce ratio is perfect for the style of pizza. There is a decent selection of nice looking sides like antipasti salad, pasta salad on the bar in front of you before you get to the pizza that I wished I had taken advantage of. be smarter than I was. The only drawback to the food was the canneloni. It was ok. Maybe I'm not too much a fan of cannelonis. There was a decent amount of filling and it tasted ok a bit rich but the shell seemed a bit thick and not too tasty.

Not a very big place and parking can be hard but when there is aline it still moves quick. Really good pizza and salad at a good price.

  • Gina D.

Heard about this place from the owner of another local pizza place. So happy I came here. It is soooo good. My husband even LOVES it and he is not a fan of pizza AT ALL. Because pizza is my favorite food, he has been subjected to eating A LOT of pizza with me and he typically hates the thought of pizza, but if I go here without him he gets annoyed that I didn't bring him any. Haven't tried any of the pastas yet but I'm pretty sure they are awesome. I really enjoy seeing the people that work there too.

  • Daron D.

Wow. Went here on a whim. Nice family place. Treat you like you are guests in their home. Walked us "newbies" through the process. Fabulous authentic italian food for really reasonable prices. Cramped and busy. Parking sucks. Well worth the hassle!!!

Best pizza in Nashville. Love the sauce. Try the gladiator, or the chocolate cannoli.

Food is awesome. Lady behind the counter yells at you, which I guess is cool if you like being yelled at?

  • Jeremy J.

Wow! What a great find. This pizza is good. I had a slice of the Gladiator and was stuffed the rest of the day. It looks like one slice but eats like two or three. The atmosphere can be a little chaotic for first-timers but the staff are friendly. The location might be a little rough, but don't let that dissuade you...this pizza is worth it.

I realize this review is short, but sometimes less is more. Thank you Joey and family, your food is EXCELLENT!

  • Razz S.

I found Joey's by accident one day. It is one of the best finds ever. The Gladiator (1 slice) is huge and wonderful. You will only be able to eat 1 slice... maybe. The lasagna is might just be the best I've ever had. Everything I've eaten there has been great. And everything is very reasonably priced. But here's the deal. The are only open from 11-3 on Monday - Friday. So be prepared to wait. It gets packed, quickly. There's usually people waiting before it even opens. So go to their website and check the menu, if you've never been there. Seating is kind of limited. But I think most people get theirs to go, as I usually do. It is worth the wait, and lives up to the praise.

My mind is blown! 4 years I've lived here coming from NY and I didn't know this place existed. Its the only REAL NY food here. Just awesome all the way around.

It's really the only place in Nashville to consider. Every thing is the way it's suppose to be. Best italian in Nashville, hands down.

  • Vincent B.

The food was fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try more. I had a slice of their pepperoni pizza, a slice their 'gladiator pizza', and a salad. You'll need a real appetite for the gladiator and it was delicious. Loved the salad; lots of oregano and olives. The pepperoni pizza was classic pizzeria. It's exactly why you go to an Italian New York pizzeria. It's what you don't find at the pizza chains. What I was most blown away by was the customer service though. Some people just have a gift for it, a certain flair. The two ladies working the counter today both have it.

    (5)
  • Q A.

First time here and it's not so bad. I will definitely eat here again but next time I am going to try the Gladiator( which is $38 dollars for a whole pie) so beware of the pricing. Other than that, wonderful experience and the staff is so friendly and kind. It's a very welcoming atmosphere! Five stars for customer service/hospitality!!!

  • Bob B.

When Joey left New York, he took the best pizza with him. Not even in NYC can you get it this good. So don't waste your time going to NYC for pizza, it is right here in Music City....: Eggplant parm sandwich, rocked. The real deal. Nothing better than this place in Nashville for the true new york style crispy awesome crust. It was just awesome, First time there today. I had my hopes up and was NOT disappointed. Just had two pepperoni slices, but next time will try something else. Only bad thing is that it closes at 3 pm. What is up with that, What if I wanted it for dinner? or a Monday night football game??? Still thought it was spot on crisp crust and oh so good.

  • Anthony C.

Hands down the best pizza in Nashville. Lived in Austin for a year and had their over hyped pizza and it was such a joy to come back to this. Thank you for bringing a piece of Italy to Nashville.

A line of about 8 other people were already here when my co worker and I showed up 5 minutes before opening to meet a vendor for lunch. We had to assume that line partnered with our vendor's rave review of the place meant our lunch was going to be a good one and we assumed correctly. Joey's is run by, well, Joey and his Wife, Daughter and Son......these native Italian New Yorkers definitely know how to welcome you, you're instantly greeted with the aroma of fresh authentic home made pasta, pizza, stromboli and even cannoli! Joey meets you at the front of the line and quickly asks what you will be having as your plate is built in a cafeteria style assembly line. You don't have much time to think on the menu, Joey's is packed fast and he and teh family move fast! If you dont know whats good, pick anything because it all looks amazing or grab a menu and step aside, the line moves quick and gets longer by the second. You will wait a bit as your dish heats up if you select a pizza or stomboli, but that just makes it even better and adds to the authenticity. Every thing is served piping hot to insure you taste the freshness of the flavors. I opted for a Spinach/Ricotta/Mozz Stromboli served with house made sauce on the side, it was hearty, the dough soft in the middle, perfectly baked on the outside with a generous amout of fresh whole leaf spinach, ricotta and mozz melting out of it. The sauce was equally impressive and enjoyable. I also had a small side salad which Joey topped with fresh Italian dressing and herbs, it was fantastic! Joey and Family defnitely know what they're doing and we are fortunate they brought a bit of New York and Italy repsectively, to Nashville. They aren't open on the weekends!! So get your fix during the week, my suggestion either arrive early or after the lunch rush if you dont have time to wait in line, they are fast, but you may find yourself behind a crowd of folks who have already figured out how good this place is! I am not typically one to pass out five stars after a first visit, but I was that impressed.

Just finished an incredible slice of Joey's pizza. As a first time customer I'm actually sad that it's gone b/c it is by far the best pizza I've had since moving to Nashville. Guess I'll have to return another time for another savory, perfectly sauced, crisp & crunchy slice of goodness. Oh darn :) To all my fellow pizza aficionados Joey's House of Pizza is your go-to place for New York style pizza in Nashville! Seriously amazing pizza!

Best cannoli in town! I got the chocolate! The gladiator is huge and meaty! The pepperoni is thin and delish! Pizza is an authentic NY pizza: cheesy, greasy, with all the toppings. It's crazy busy between 11-1pm (and you better know what you want right from the get go when they're slammed, otherwise you'll make a mess), but after that it settles down. It's almost like watching a show, when waiting in line, it's entertaining. Very cheap!

Wow. Tried the Brentwood and Spring Hill locations and for whatever reason I was underwhelmed. Completely different experience here. The pizza is great, I mean, just great and the gals behind the counter run the place just like every pizzeria I love in NJ. Fast, friendly, making recommendations and keeping things moving. Awesome cannolis. Highly recommended.

Beside the fact that the anti-pasta salad had enough vinegar, that its half my DNA. And, I feel like I am gonna poop a pickle. The salad wasnt bad. The gladiator is a true beast, taking up two plates. The owner looks like a younger slimmer Adrew Dice Clay but much nicer. No it isnt Desano's, but it is better than average and open at the perfect time for a really good lunch place.

Some people here have weird expectations. This is a pizza joint. If they're on the phone while getting your order together, or if they expect you to shout your order, that's all part of where you are. If you wanted something more civilized, there's a Pizza Hut up the road. You can wait as quietly as a mouse as they pour your pizza from a bag and zip it through their automatic ovens. Pizza is great. Pasta is great. People are great. Their meatballs and italian sausage cannot be beat in Nashville. If the only italian sausage you've had is from Kroger or Papa Johns, do yourself a favor and get one here. It is AMAZING. On a bun, on pasta, whatever. Eat it.

I had pizza the night before and knew I wouldn't want more but when I got there and saw the options, I had the Sicilian, stood in line again for pepperoni, and brought the chicken parm home for dinner. Ridiculous. I will be back for the food and to see the magical way Joeys daughter handles the pizza orders. I swear she has 5 arms and hands and wheels our wings in her shoes. She moves incredibly fast and yet she gives personal attention to each order. Watching her is an experience. I still can't believe I stood in line twice.

Had lunch here today for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! Being Sicilian it is hard to impress me with Italian food. My family's sugo (sauce) is the best. I ordered the baked ziti w/ a meatball on the side. The pasta sauce was really good. The texture was thick and not runny...just the way I like it. The meatball was the size of a small softball, lol, but tender and very tasty. Their menu is expansive with many different types of pasta dishes, pizza and strombolis. I will definitely come back. One tip though...go there hungry as you will get plenty to eat!

I love Joey's Pizza. Best pizza in Nashville in my opinion. They do a special chicken parm double layer pizza that is amazing. If you're familiar with the Gladiator and Crixus, it's the same thing but with big chunks of chicken parm. Everything I've had here is good... Pasta, salads, roll ups, and the desserts are decadent.

For anyone who wants truly fantastic pizza, they way it should be made, this is the place for you. The Pizza is insane, the family who owns the place is the real deal and we are lucky they decided to move down here so many years ago. Nobody in this town makes a pie like this and everything to go along with it...except beer. I cannot recommend Joey's highly enough...go there!!!

Got the gladiator and it was so big!!! I've heard so many great things about this place and had been dying to go. It was everything I had expected and more. Super clean. Everything looked amazing. And the woman behind the counter was so helpful.

In my imagination Joey's reminds of a place that would be in any New York hood. You'll see 3 generations working the line, attitude and all. Something about a family run business makes you feel so much better about the food you're being served. Thankfully the pizza here doesn't suck, in fact, you'll be hard pressed to find a better slice of New York style anywhere else in the ville. I'm usually a fan of simple slices with just a few toppings, but once in a while you have to splurge and hoard toppings on your pie. If you happen to be in that kind of mood, try Joey's specialty pie. This beast of a pie comes with meatballs, Italian sausage, chicken, spinach, ,artichokes, eggplants, and tomatoes . That made me full just typing it out. One, maybe 2 slices at most will set you back for the rest of the day. The lunch pasta special with salad, soda, and bread clocks in at $8.09. Try the chicken parmigiana, which is 2 chicken breasts, layered with cheese, and cooked with their house made tomato sauce. You'll have enough food to feed 2 people. I hate that Joey's is only open from 11-3 during the week, but that just makes the pizza so much better when I actually make it there.

Wow, wow WOW! This is the most amazing pizza in Nashville, HANDS DOWN. I am so impressed with the way they handle the crazy lines you wait in and the way the owner's daughter keeps everyone in line and on their toes (calmly no less). HOWEVER, the real draw is the FOOD! The stuffed pizza is INCREDIBLE. The Nashville pizza scene is rather lame, but Joey's has saved the day. I no longer say "there is no place to get good pizza in Nashville". It would be a lie. This place is a must go for anyone who is a pizza fan! Make sure you finish off with a cannoli or tiramisu. You can thank me later ;).

Great pizza....New York style all the way!! I've been multiple times and my job gets it for us on occasion. My normal before Joeys was always the meat pizzas, but the white Spinach garlic is the only way to go!! You will never miss the red sauce after this moment. They also have a very fun atmosphere that makes you feel like your actually in NYC. One of the best pizza places in Nashville!!

O Pizza, Where Art Thou... Please come back to Brentwood. I miss having the best pizza place in town just a few minutes away. I miss the great family running this place. I could go on and lament for a good while, but seriously, this has always been my favorite pizza in town. I'm not a pizza snob so I don't really care if it's certified NYC or deep dish from Chicago. I'm an equal opportunity pizza eater. All I'm saying is that if you want the best pizza in town, Joey's is where it's at.

I am a pizza snob. As far as I was concerned Nashville's pizza scene is bogus. Sorry but that was how I felt before my husband brought home a thick flavorful Sicilian! Topped with mushrooms, green peppers, and onions, i ate a whole piece. Yes one whole piece...each slice is HUGE! The crust is chewy and soft, and they actually season the pizza. The sauce...divine! Its not cheesy and gooey...its not supposed to be. I can not wait to try the NY style.

Joey's Can't Fail! I've ranted and raved about a few "Mom & Pop" pizza places in the Nashville area in the past, but Joeys House of Pizza is THE PLACE TO GO!! Hands down the best slice of true NY style pizza in Nashville. What makes their NY pizza so good you may ask? Well, they're gynormous, thin, crisp on the bottom so they plank straight out as you hold it. They have the proper amount of sauce to cheese ratio and are all hand made for about $2.80 a slice w/ just cheese!! Joeys doesn't just do great NY slices, they have a full selection of Italian dishes readily available on their line up. Lasagna, chicken parm, baked zitti, eggplant parm, all around $9 with an Italian salad, pasta salad or fresh giardiniera. Calzones, Stromboli's, Pizza rolls, Italian subs w/ chicky chicky parm parm, italian sausage, or cold cuts; and their infamous double crust pie!!! I like to think of their double crust as a huge bitch slap to inferior "Chicago Style Pies", are around $6.00. They used to be the best slice in Brentwood, and before that they had a location borderline of Brentwood and Cool Springs. The new Elm Hill Pike location has been the best thing to happen in the area EVER, and they still draw loyal customers from the Cool Brent Springs Wood area for lunch. Have your mind made up and your order ready. They don't have time for indecisive lolly gaggers, you will be called out by Joey! At the same time be prepared to embrace the chaos at peak lunch hours, enjoy the "Joeys HOP" family banter, respect Stephanie for her mad pizza oven/order taking skills, and the fact that there's only one "Joey" descendant making every type of pizza at a small make station to order. You better tip, capiche?

This place is very family oriented. It is family owned and and everything they make is made homemade. The pizza slices are HUGE and super yummy. Lasagna is amazing. My kids love their fresh salad with the vinaigrette. I, personally, LOVE tiramisu and ",momma" makes it fresh daily and it is the best I have ever had! Its not weak but yet not overpowering either. I have tried others like Bucca and its way to strong with the liquor but this tiramisu at Joeys is off the charts of yummy goodness. It is a little more pricey than your pizza chains but SO WELL worth it!

I go here often and Stephanie knows me by name. Very friendly and the pizza is absolutely first class. i usually get two pieces of pepperoni pizza and order a large whole one to take home. I never tried anything else the pizza is that good. Oh yeah, I did get the cannoli's once..great as well!

I went to Joey's a few minutes after they opened at lunch. The staff was already busy and a little slow to take my order. The food came pretty fast though. I ordered a slice of cheese pizza, garlic bread with marinara & a chocolate cannoli. The pizza - great crust but a little cold. Garlic bread was good not too doughy and sauce seemed to be homemade. The cannoli was one of the better ones I've had in town. Just the right amount of sweetness and not too rich. I would go back for a cheap-ish lunch when I'm not in a hurry.

Read some cool reviews over here and decided to give it a try. Went on friday for lunch thinking I will get a quick bite and get back to work soon. But that didn't happen! Why? People in Ville definitely love this place which was evident by the longggg queue to get in the restaurant. (trust me .. saw few people waiting outside the restaurant to get in). Anyways, after some 10-12 mins of wait finally I ordered a slice of pizza (wait - NY style PizzA) with some toppings. Got my order after 6-7 mins of wait time which was worth. As soon as I took the first bite, I asked myself, Am I in NY? I really enjoyed the pizza and wanted to go for second slice but "Can you see the queue?" still way long! Anyways, I highly recommend this place. Go for it!

Overall: It is a huge issue that this is so close to where I work. My waistline is going to suffer! Food: New York style pizza, stromboli, pizza rolls, chicken parmigiana, lasagna, salad and some insane looking double crusted pizzas with names like "the gladiator" -- doesn't matter what you get, it's all good! I'm changing my previous opinion that the crust is bland, I'm eating a pizza roll as I type this (and getting sauce all over my keyboard, oops) and it's great. Atmosphere/Service: The lunch hour is pure insanity. I'm guessing it may be a tad bit more low key at 1 or 2? But, honestly, I kind of liked the craziness. The employees (obviously all family, or at least for the most part) were working their butts off! My only issue is their hours make it pretty much a lunch-only restaurant. I would LOVE to be able to grab a pizza on my way home from work. Price: Very affordable; 2 slices of pepperoni & a pizza roll were $11. Tip: I heard a rumor that they will deliver if your order is $50 or more (given the prices, that would be A LOT of pizza) but anyway, just FYI

    (4)
  • Anne R.

This place is amazing!!! The only issue is the hours open and that people tend to grab other people's orders. A numbering system would help with that.... Otherwise, the food is awesome!!

Damn! Come hungry and go for the Gladiator. This slice is HUGE and comes with (from top-to-bottom) pie crust, cheese, sausage, three layers of pepperoni (think layers like a NY deli sandwich) and repeat (2nd layer of cheese, sausage, pepperoni) topped with cheese. It sounds borderline disgusting, but if you come ready to share with a friend it's divine. It's served with a cup of marinara because there isn't enough room on this slice to incorporate sauce. Excellent. Beyond the gimmicky, the plain pizza is pretty good too. Not bad for a Nashville joint.

  • Will M.

Pizza is the best here. Double slice pizzas are awesome. Gladiator had a hidden layer of pepporoni, topped with sausage and mozarella. Cheeseheads unite! Lasagna also looked really good, eggplant parm was tempting. I splurged and got the tiramisu which was outstanding! The NY style pizzas looked really good, the cheese was a golden brown all over, describing this makes me drool. So if pizza was ever your favorite food youtube.com/watch?v=P3dS…

How is it you can tell that you've found someplace special? Is it that there's a line backed up to the door to get the food at lunchtime? Is it that it's super-packed even in an out of the way place like Elm Hill Pike? Is it that it's a lunchtime only pizza place that has valet parking? I didn't recognize all these signs as I waited in line for the New York style Italian food, but I had noticed the waves of glowing reviews of my fellow yelpers. That's a good sign even if I can't read more subtle signs. As I walked in, my mind took me back to my youth when I actually lived in the Empire State, and was not surprised when I found lasagna, chicken parm, ziti, and pizza: lots and lots of pizza. The huge pepperoni pie was enough to cause waterfalls in my mouth. Garlic, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and olive oil was some of the greatest sights and smells I've seen in years! But then they brought out the Gladiator, and it was glorious. Even uncooked, you could tell it was going to be the greatest pizza ever. It was three inches think and clearly piled on with loads and loads of pepperoni and sausage. And there was enough cheese on the pizza to cause lactose intolerance in an elephant. When it came out, I was amazed at just how mountainous this was. I know I sound like I'm outrageously exaggerating about the size of the pizza, but it was legitimately the deepest, densest, and most massive pizza I've ever seen. No lie. I started to order two slices, but everyone around me went "NOOOOOOO! One is more than enough!" Being my first time, I decided to let their collective wisdom be my guide, and they were soooo right! My experience eating just one slice of the Gladiator was like experiencing my own episode of Man vs. Food. I spent a half-hour downing this monster. It needed two paper plates. It was delicious, but so literally the largest pizza slice I've ever had. I finally did finish the thing, but I was absolutely stuffed. I'm over thirty, and It's been over 20 years since I've been filled by more than one slice of pizza. That's astounding. Joey's is a great place, giving you a great and filling experience for a relatively small amount of money. Yes, the wait can be long, but that's only because the food is that darn good. I've been looking for a true New York-style Italian experience and for my money, this is the best, far exceeding even Manny's in the Arcade. If you know New York pizza, this is it. If you want the real deal without having to travel 700 miles, I don't see how you could do better anywhere in Nashville.

Be sure to get there early, like as soon as the door opens. Also, be prepared to get totally stressed out while ordering and waiting on your food. This place is probably the BUSIEST restaurant I've ever been to. It is pure pandemonium in here but don't worry, they know what there doing. They give new meaning to the phrase 'organized chaos'! I really think that the Food Network should come and film during lunchtime. One more thing, if you go in already knowing what you want to order, you might as well forget it because as soon as you see and smell all they have to offer, you will want every single thing on the menu.

I hate to pile on the commendations here, but that's exactly what Joey does with his pizza. Yes, the pizza is as authentic as any place in NYC; yes, the dough would be an excellent dish even if there was zero toppings; and yes, does he PILE IT ON. This is a serious pizza for people serious about their pizza. My German business partner from Munich believes this may be the best pizza in the world. How many Germans do you know that would admit something is better in the States? I'm guessing you could drive all over Bavaria and not find a single (sober) one. Go early and stand in line. The smell wafting from the front door will reinforce your will if you should but falter.

First time I went there was when I flew in to Nashville for a bad work assignment. Didn't care for it because I was in such a bad mood. The second time I went back I fell in love of their sauce and the unbelievable work ethic of the beautiful pizza tosser that makes that place runs. I could drink a cup of that sauce for the pizza rolls daily!!! I need a little basil in it but I haven't asked yet. The crowd of loyals is AMAZING...OUT THE DOOR! Now I understand why. I have been in Nashville for 3 weeks (unwillingly) and been to Joey's 5 times. I'll be in Nashville another 3 crummy weeks and Joeys will be my hightlight another 9 times. I wish I could order their leftovers at the hotel at night!!! BEAR

This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I can't believe I didn't know about it before. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by all of the friendly employees, I can only assume they're family. I asked for a Spinach calzone but they didn't have any prepped at the time, as soon as I was told that a man from the back said "I can make you one now if you're willing to wait" he came out so quick and before I could respond, the server down the line said "come and look at our pizza rolls, they actually have ricotta in them just like the calzones" she was so polite I decided to go with that instead. It was delicious, the perfect combo of spinach, garlic, ricotta, bread, and the best mozzarella I've had in a while. There was a bit of a line when I got there but it moved so quickly. Everything looked delicious, I will definitely go back to sample the rest of the menu!

Best pizza in Nashville! I've been a regular patron of Joey's House of Pizza ever since they opened. (Joey used to work at Manny's (his brother) House of Pizza) located downtown Nashville, which is also fabulous and I used to visit at least once a week when I worked downtown. I'm pretty much hooked on their pizza and usually order the same thing! However, when I'm in a mood for something different, I'll get their eggplant Parmesan and in my opinion, it's some of the best I've ever had. As for desserts, their Cannoli is delicious and authentic Italian-style, but the Tiramisu is my all-time favorite. It's definitely a popular place for lunch so if you go, expect a long line, although they have a pretty efficient system for handling the busy lunch crowd.

Went there during peak lunch hours and the line was all the way to the door. I was a bit worried about how long it would take me to actually get my food, but I was at the register with my slices in hand in just a few minutes. The person actually taking pizza orders was quite impressive. With a whole line of people ordering slice after slice, sometimes all at once, she never lost her cool and got each one correct. The guy in line behind me ordered 7 slices total with 3 different varieties and she nailed it even with him ordering in a quite confusing manner. On to the food. I got 2 slices of pepperoni and they were amazing. Great thin New York style crust with tons of cheese and toppings. Pretty greasy, so a pat down might be in order for some. I wouldn't say it's the best in town, but it's not too far behind. Great lunch spot. Pretty cheap as well.

Joey Macca is a pizza genius, but this summer he served me one of the most bitter dishes I've ever tasted -- hand-tossed betrayal. Okay, so it's really not personal at all. But when Joey's House of Pizza closed up shop in Maryland Farms and headed north, it robbed Brentwood of the best pizza place it's ever had. Sicilian slices ooze with stringy-rich cheese, sizzle with succulent sauce and teem with towering toppings that make you feel like you're in Brooklyn, not the Bible Belt. My favorite: the pepperoni, ground beef and ham, which spills all over your plate to create a perfect second meal when the pie itself is gone. Alas, Joey and his gang left their Williamson County turf in favor of a spot closer to Nashville. And while my heart cries, my mouth merely waters. I'll regularly make the long trip to Elm Hill Pike for my favorite pizza in the universe.

I am a fan and would return. The food: the best. I dined in and had the Chicken Parmesan Pasta Lunch Special. It was delicious!! Smothered in cheese, with perfect sauce. Chicken was perfectly cooked. You can add red pepper flakes and extra cheese at the table. The drinks offer little variety, which can be a disappointment. But all in all, I am huge fan of the food! There is plenty of it! The ambience: not exceptional. It's loud and slow. When you get in, you will immediately enter the long line of people trying to decide what they want and employees looking very busy and yelling out orders. The worst part: the time I went, the cashier didn't understand my order and I ended up paying more for what I didn't want. I didn't argue because she already seemed unhappy with life. But the food made up for it. Tips: Show up early for lunch! It seems that whatever you order will be delicious, so you won't go wrong there. Know what you want (maybe look online ahead of time) and communicate it clearly to them.

Pizza was AMAZING! When i arrived, the line was out the door so I knew it was going to be good. Once I got closer to the counter I was pleasantly surprised by the large variety of pizza, salads, pastas, Strombolis etc and desserts. I purchased a plain pizza pie and was extremely happy with the quality and taste. The atmosphere felt very mom and pop which was refreshing.

FOOD SO GOOD IT WILL MAKE YOUR LEGS QUIVER. I waited patiently for this place to open and prided myself in quickly staking my claim as a regular and trying most of the menu. Granted I get stuck on one thing for several trips but I will persever! First of all, this is a great place to eat, you cannot even get in here during lunch because of the line, that says alot. Everything is made by hand and my favorite part is this is a family business and they put their hearts into their service. I have tried the eggplant Parmesan, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, salads(heaven forbid!) and several pizzas. I usually get the Joey special, you really can't go wrong there and you can feed a good sized crew with one. They did offer me a warning the first time I ordered a xtra large, I laughed it off and clearly had half a pie left in the end, I'll listen next time! I have not had a bad meal here, hell I have not had a marginal meal here! This is the best Italian food I have had in town hands down. Hours are just monday thru fri but if I put as much into making great food as these guys do I'd need 3 or 4 days a week rest, not just Saturday or Sunday. This is a great family business, I like they already went out of their way to learn my name and I love eating the great food they create! I'll curse them for my flabby midsection later.

what can be said that you haven't already read Lunch has long lines - Fridays are crazy. Joey is a PITA, (soup nazi style) but the pizza is the best outside of NYC. Stick to what you can see. Joey doesn't like when you order from the "menu". They really need to set up a better system then yelling 2 slices with mushroom.

So a bunch of my guy friends have been raving nonstop about the lasagna and pizza here so when they invited me to check it out with them, I couldn't say no. The pizzas are a bit expensive, but they are huge, fresh, delicious, and worth it. They will gladly make you a pizza half & half with the variety of toppings offered including artichokes (yum!) and spinach and all the regular meats. I wasn't able to try any of their pastas or other dishes but I've heard great things about them. But, let me tell you, do not come here on an empty stomach expecting to order, get your food, and get out. There is a wait in line and a wait for the food. A long wait in anticipation for the food. A wait so long that every 5 minutes you're second-guessing whether or not they've forgotten your order. You'll play mind tricks on yourself, asking yourself over and over again, "Did she really hear my order? Did I give her my name? Did someone take our pizza? Did those guys come before us or after us? How come they got their food first? Will they run out of dough? Are they closing shop?" That being said, however, they won't forget your order. I was a little concerned at first because we had to repeat our order twice; I almost got the impression that we were bothering her or troubling her by taking our order. But our pizza came out perfectly fine. Although, it took what seemed like an hour before it came out. And they don't forget you. We had been waiting there for a while (it made for a good time of catching up with old friends) and randomly, the lady from behind the counter motioned to my friend. No words, no yelling, just a simple head gesture, beckoning him to come forward. Silence. She hands him a plate of baked dough doused in some olive oil, fresh from the oven. The dough probably comes from leftovers from rolling pizzas, but boy did it whet our appetites. It was deliciously fresh and irresistible. I've always wanted to act in a sitcom, and something about this place reminds me of the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld. Except it's the pizza Nazi. There aren't many wall decorations, just your average cafeteria-style small beginnings. No waiters or waitresses serving you on hand and feet. No one to bus your table for you or refill your Coke. And your regular table conversations will be interrupted by some backstage yelling between the workers or maybe at a customer. You might get a curt or rude word here or there--but it's all part of the experience. Don't come in a rush or with a naive spirit--this is New York Pizza we're talking about...don't expect that Southern hospitality.

There isn't much more to say than Joey's is the best pizza in Nashville...by far!! Trrust me, being from New York, this is the only place that offers real, authentic NY style pizza. Great prices, great service and an incredible menu, everything from slices, whole pies, heros, pastas, cannolis, calzones nothing will disappoint.

Coming from New York just a few months ago, I knew better than to try any pizza places in hopes of finding what I call pizza. I knew that I was just going to have to get by on pizza type concoctions that vaguely resemble the pizza I know and love. I was pleasantly surprised to find out from another New Yorker at my job (only trust other New Yorkers when it comes to finding good pizza) that there was a pizza place in Nashville, run by a Brooklyn family that serves great pizza. Now I was a little skeptical because just because you come from New York doesn't mean you can make good pizza, I mean if I tried to make pizza it would be a disaster to say the least! Was this going to stop me from trying it...no! So when I looked up the place I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was another location in Brentwood right near my job. So after work my daughter and I headed over to get ourselves a slice of New York, but was it any good??? The answer is YES!!! We went at a down time, somewhere between lunch and dinner. There was a short wait but the girl who came out to take our order was nice and sweet and very talkative. When we sat down to eat our pizza, we positioned ourselves right next to their version of the Trevi fountain smack dab in the middle of the restaurant. The pizza was delicious!! As we ate, my daughter and I talked about the events of the day and for a moment I actually forgot I was at a mini mall in Tennessee. It felt like we were back home, enjoying a slice on a day out in the city. I don't know if it was the pizza or the company but it was a beautiful combination. The crust was a little stale but I'm going to assume it is because we came at a down time. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars (and because I haven't tried the pasta). If you are a New Yorker and you need your fix, this is the perfect place. If you are a Tennessean and you want real New York pizza, head to Joey's. I will most definitely be back, as a matter of fact...pizza for lunch sounds like a great idea!

Joey's House of Pizza is as good as it gets in Nashville. I'm from NYC and i've been through my share of Pizzas and Italian Food. The Staff is wonderful especially Stefani whos right at the counter taking your order. If you are venturing other than a slice of Pizza try the Italian Sausage, Pepper, Onion Roll. Its one of the best i've had hands down. Know what you want before you get in line. The Maccas tell it like it is. I Love Joeys!

Our pick up order was wrong but the pizza was delicious. Best in Nashville for your NY style type. Sauce is tasty and so is the crust.

tried Joey's based on positive notes here on Yelp. Tried a variety of veggie friendly items -- cheese slice, baked ziti, spinach roll. Also ordered (and paid for a salad) -- didn't realize it at the time but I never received that salad. I had way too much food anyways so I didn't notice. Ziti was good, mainly flavored by the sauce. Pasta was a little more al dente that I expected, but it was all around good, not overwhelmed with cheese. Spinach roll was good -- not a standout like I expected, but good. Believe the spinach was fresh, not frozen. Cheese slice was very solid - maybe a little over cooked on the re-heat, crispier that I expected from a NY style shop (the fold over wouldn't have worked), but I enjoyed it. I still think that Angelo's Pizza Picnic in Antioch is the best authentic style pizza in town - especially their lunch buffet with the lasagna or sausage/peppers which is a bargain at under $8. But Joey's is a solid authentic pizza shop that I'll be sure to visit when I'm in the area.

Incredible, authentic, delicious Italian food. From pizza to calzones to chicken parm to the cannolis -- you won't be disappointed. Love love love this place!

The pizza here is pretty good - a lot better than most - but the canned mushrooms are pure blasphemy. Some find their "hey you, what do you want?" attitude endearing, I find it annoying. If you go during lunch, expect to wait for your food. Don't expect any hospitality here. The pizza is pretty good compared to the rest of what's around though.

Joey's pizza is the best I've had in Nashville. The giant fountain they have in the middle of the restaurant is ridiculous though. They don't have a very good system for making sure everyone gets their food in the proper order, but it's not really a big deal at lunch, as it moves fairly quickly. Dinner on the other hand can be a mess. I've ended up waiting 40 minutes for a pizza I ordered in advance by phone before I arrived because someone took it thinking it was theirs. All is forgiven though. The pizza is great.

Let me start by saying, I have had, "the best pizza in town," from coast to coast, including NY,NY, and Chicago. This may sound crazy to you, but Joey's House of Pizza beats them all. Joey's is the best pizza I have ever had. I got a large meatball pizza, and thought I was going to cry because it was that good. I now get the same thing every time I go back. I read a couple other posts, and want to address manners... People from different parts of the country use different manners. Up north, where I am from, we don't beat around the bush with pretentious pleasantries and small-talk. We are strait to the point, hurry up, next. I have noticed that people in the south want to have small talk and exchange pleasantries, and are offended if I don't reciprocate and play along with this custom. I am not rude, just forward. I believe this is true for the staff at Joey's as well.

Some days you want to go to a resturaunt and be catered to. You want them to wait on you and make sure your needs are met. You want that? Don't come here. Expect a lot of "what do you want?" and "the guy with the red socks hat, whoever you are, your food is getting cold so come and get it or my dog has a meal" It is endearing, and if you don't like it I'm telling you now eat here anyway because the food is pretty dang good. I love calzones and theirs are good. I just like kitchen sink style. Throw what you can in it and I'll eat it. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's far up there. The other reviewers are correct, I didn't know what I wanted but they weren't rude about it I was just like "pick something and I'll eat it" and they did and I liked it. Done, and Done. Eat here, you'll like it if you have a sense of humor.

This place is terrible! The staff is frazzled and rude and their system is completely unorganized. Taste-wise the pizza was okay, but they messed up our order and didn't get the toppings right. We won't be going back.

While I cannot argue about the great quality of the food. My wife got ripped off by the cashier here. She purchased a slice of cheese and a small salad, 2.49 each. She was charged $8.50. When she pointed it out, she was argued with and insulted. Go for the food, leave for the poor service.

Good pizza, but not GREAT pizza. People act like they touched the face of God after they eat here, but that's a little much. They make the slices and calzones and slices in advance & reheat upon serving. The staff is a little on the annoying side, but they didn't detract from my experience.

second best pizza in Nashville (best is in the arcade downtown). Sometimes a little too oily and sometimes the crust is too thick but it's better than most everyone else and truly New York Style. The real secrets here are the excellent dishes such as the eggplant parm, spag and meatballs, etc. Real homemade Italian cooking. Loud NY atmosphere and very busy. Highly recommended. PS Don't bug Joey he's not your typical low key southerner.

Not sure if it's worth me writing a review of Joey's HoP since it's apparently going to be closing and opening up somewhere else (and will be replaced at its current location by "Sal's House of Pizza"), but what the hell! Warring brothers have featured prominently throughout history: Cain &Abel, Noel & Liam Gallagher... Joey & Manny. Well, ok, I'm not so sure about the last part, but the two owners of Joey's HoP and Manny's HoP ARE brothers, so it only seems fair to compare the two. Both boast authentic NY-style pizza and service without a smile, so how do they stack up? Walking into Joey's, I was actually surprised at how bright, spacious and clean it was. If you've ever been to Manny's, that's a real hole in the wall that could use a little Spring cleaning, if you catch my drift. But Joey's has a frickin' fountain in the middle of its seating area, so any attempts at being a dive are swiftly seen through. You order at a counter at the back of the restaurant where they have their pasta dishes all laid out, as well as some pre-cooked pizza's that they can pop in the oven to reheat for you. If you order a personalized slice, they'll take one of the pre-existing cheese slices and add your toppings on and then put it in the oven... which makes sense for a slice, but means that freshness is sacrificed (since who knows how long those pizzas have been sitting there). My husband opted for two slices of bacon, onion & garlic, while I decided to try their eggplant parmesan. The wait for our food wasn't all that long - we got there at about 6:30 on a Thursday evening, right before a huge rush of people and probably only waited about 15 minutes. While we waited, we were given some complementary "bread sticks" (read: left over pizza dough) that were drowning in olive oil. Not fancy, but yummy! As for our main courses, I really loved my eggplant parm - it was really hearty and for $6, the portion was HUGE. Only complaint was that it was just a teeny tiny bit salty, but certainly nothing I couldn't deal with. The hub's pizza was also quite good, though for my money, I'd say Manny's is still the best pizza in town. Really, it's some of the best pizza I've ever had. Period. The slices there just seem to have more flavor, but these certainly weren't bad. Still, I could see traveling to Joey's for the pasta dishes again, but not so much for the pizza. There are at least 3 other places in town (with Manny's being the crown jewel!) that I'd rather eat at first if pizza were my goal. Overall, I'd probably give this place 3.5 stars if that were an option. It's great value for the money (we managed to stuff ourselves for just $14), and as an Italian place, it's fantastic. The pizza, however, which is supposed to be the star, was probably the most disappointing part of our meal, however, so for that, it loses points. Also, I have to say that the people working there were really friendly and conscientious, not at all gruff and "soup nazi"-like at all! I was actually amazed at how personable they were and all the attention and care they gave us! All in all, there are plenty of reasons to visit Joey's, but the pizza may not be your first choice if you do come. Thankfully they have tons of other options (pasta, calzones, and subs) to fill your tummy!

The best New York pie in town. Period. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and have a slice of meatball. And then pinch yourself.

The closest thing I've tasted to the pizza and salad I eat when in New York and New Jersey here in Tennessee. And in a Brentwood strip mall no less! Legit!

Let's face it. Da Vinci's was better back in the day, when the owners were a married couple and she pretty much ran the place. Pizza Perfect is sometimes okay, sometimes good, and sometimes awful, depending on whether the owner/head chef farms all the duties out to some Lipscomb students who could care less or a church set who don't care at all. Domino's does deliver, but that's about it. For anyone who's had real, thin crust pizza in New York City, Joey's is the real deal. My first meal there, I ordered a plain cheese pizza - my test. As I watched the steaming cheese slipping around on the perfect thin crust, I looked at my companion with tears in my eyes. No, really. It was that good, to know that finally, someone in Nashville was making pizza the old-fashioned way. Okay, the salad is forgettable at best. Okay, some of the toppings leave a great deal to be desired. But if you want a real NY pizza fix, this is the place. As to people complaining about the service - it's "Joey's Pizza". Not "Joey's Italian Delicacies." Not "Joey's Gourmet Pizza." You won't find lobster pizza here, no sir. Just great, basic, New York style pizza.

Very good pizza. In the Nashville area, I like it better than Mellow Mushroom, Davincci's, Pizza Perfect (though all are good too). Since I've only ordered traditional toppings, I'm not sure if I can compare Joey's to Christopher's or CPK. The ingredients are fresh, and they are not stingy with the toppings. Try the Joe's special, and ask for the knot bread--but beware, one slice if usually a meal-enough for me. The hours make it a little hard to get to, but well worth it.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
