My brother and I went on a Friday for lunch and Jack was actually there shaking hands with people waiting in line and thanking them for coming in! How cool! What a sweet man! The line was out the door when we arrived but it moved very quickly. It's basically assembly line ordering and they prepare your plate in front of you. Everything looked and smelled so good but I was trying to be a little healthy so I opted for the smoked Boston turkey and baked beans. It was so good and such a large portion that I didn't feel at all deprived for not ordering BBQ. I can't wait to go back!

The food was great with a good variety. I would recommend that if you are looking for good food a reasonable price, this is the place.

Brisket had decent flavor but no smoke ring and a tad dry. Ribs somewhat tender, with good flavor, and the five sauces were good as well. Unfortunately I went to Center Point BBQ yesterday and am definitely spoiled. Please see my review for CP BBQ.

Service is good, but the food is lackluster. I ordered the brisket plate after asking if it was tender. It was not. It was tough and I wasn't given any bark. I ordered green beans and sweet potatoes as sides and the beans were ok, but the potatoes weren't very soft. I'm not sure what to call the "cornbread" - seems like a processed cake. Full disclosure: If you've never been to the Pecan Lodge in Dallas, you've never had BBQ. I'm completely spoiled now.

Not the best. Not the worst. Portions could have been a little better for a regarded BBQ joint. The sauce bar was a pleasant excursion.

Great bbq! Got the chicken with sweet potato and Mac and cheese. Everyone was really friendly. Bought the original bbq sauce and rub. Will definitely be coming back!!

It was our families first time there and we will surely be back. Ribs were awesome and so were the sweet potatoes. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I first visited Jack's downtown location in 2011, and it was amongst the best barbecue I've ever had. The ribs were smoky and delicious, yet had subtle flavors to them that made them about perfect, and the barbecued chicken and pulled pork were also quite good. However, 3-years later, I tried the Charlotte Avenue location and was quite unimpressed. The ribs were incredibly fatty, the sides were good (but not great), and the subtle flavors that made Jack's so special were just not there. I plan to visit again when I'm next in Nashville, and I hope to be able to update my review then and add an extra star or two.

It was alright. Nashville has plenty of delicious BBQ places and this one didn't stand out as much as I thought it would. Nothing was bad, but nothing was spectacular either. This place would probably better for takeout.

On a reccomendation I gave Jack's a try, reportedly the best BBQ in town. I was a tad worried because the place was so clean, but I realized how new this location must be. Jack did not disappoint. I had the pulled pork and tried the Brunswick stew. The pork had just the right consistency with a good crust on it, the smokiness throughout. Brunswick isn't often found just right outside of Brunswick county, with just a touch of tang but mostly completely comfort food. Jack nailed it. The cornbread was moist and tasty and the slaw had just the right amount of vinegar. If I had one rub with Jack's it would be the sauces. I learnt BBQ in eastern North Carolina and I do like my vinegary sauce with just a dab of zest. The sauces available seemed to be mostly ketchup. When the tradition of Q started, common knowledge was that tomatos were poisonous; modern science and culinary developments have proven otherwise. I prefer to get my lycopene elsewhere.

So glad to see another dining option for lunch in my office 'hood. Visited on a beautiful afternoon for a (slightly) early lunch, so no crowds and a lovely few minutes with my sweetie on the back porch. Great pork shoulder, yummy vegetable choices like yams and green beans instead of the same old baked beans and cole slaw, and we shared a banana pudding. Love the vintage sink in the dining room for customers to wash up after their "cue if they wish - nice touch. Friendly security guard in the parking lot (hmmm.... my office is across the street, and we don't have a security guard) and what fun to have a shoe shine guy out back. A nice diversion and a sold alternative for lunch - thanks, Jack's!

Visiting from Los Angeles. Asked a local where to go for the best BBQ-he sent me to Jack's on Charlotte. There are 3 locations, the one on Broadway is full of tourists, so we were encouraged to head a few miles away. We were feeding 9 people watching the men's NCAA semi finals. We ordered ribs, chicken, brisket, smoked turkey, cole slaw, Mac and cheese, and greens, with corn bread and Texas toast. Every morsel was delicious. Their meats are dry rubbed and smoked, sauce is served on the side. The sauce is excellent and compliments the meats. The slaw is dressed with vinegar and sugar-really nice. The Mac was plump and the cheese sauce-creamy. The turnip greens-soooo yummy (cooked with pork). The cornbread was flavorful and dense. Everyone loved the food, all went back for seconds. The prices are reasonable, the portions-generous and the service: friendly and professional.

Although it's tough to rate only one thing, I'll average the experience out to 3 stars. The employees were very polite and attentive, and would have earned this experience 4 stars, but I hold them ultimately responsible for serving the poor quality BBQ plate, which I would rate at only 1 star. The BBQ was not only tasteless, but was served out of tin foil. It looked more like final scraps from a refrigerator rather than professionally prepared BBQ. I feel like we got the last few pieces from the main hog. It was the dark hard part on the outside that was severely overcooked and tough as nails. My friend and I left most of it on the plate. Enough about that. The vegetables, sauces, and overall cleanliness of the place was 5 stars. I'll eat there again and would recommend going there to you, but I won't settle for the scrap BBQ the next time and you shouldn't either. I'd rate the brown gravy dispenser 5 stars by itself!

My first and only other experience with Jack's was on lower Broad and I didn't like it. This trip to the Charlotte location was better. Got the pulled pork plate with baked beans and corn. I can't rave about any of the food, but it was good enough. Pretty average, really, but they have 6 different sauces you can play around with and that's always appreciated. I think the fact that they have a normal parking lot was my favorite part.

Incredible food! I love this place and the staff here are awesome and professional. Jack usually is here during lunch time and it was great to shake hands and meet him. The food is incredible. Be ready to spend about $12 or so for lunch bur the quality is incredible. I eat here every chance i get!

We really liked this place! It is clean, food is good, and friendly staff! Jumbo plate is plenty of meat for two - we had pulled pork. Very good!! Flavored, not fatty. One disappointment and not five stars because I ordered veggie plate and the size of sides is small for the price.

I first visited Jack's in January of this year while visiting relatives in Tennessee. To be honest, I was bummed we were stopping at a BBQ joint because I'm not a huge fan. I begrudgingly ordered a sandwich with beans and mac n cheese as a side and... It was amazing! So amazing, actually, that I ended up stopping back twice when I visited Nashville again a few months later. It's nothing fancy but wow, their food's amazing. I ended up getting the same sandwich, sauce, and sides as the first time because they were that good. Staff were friendly and I like that you get to choose your sauce.

Not the same vibe as the downtown location, but the food is identical. I don't see how Subway and Burger King survive with Jack's next door. Skip the chains, go to Jack's. Best BBQ in Nazzy. Love the heated Texas BBQ sauce - adds heat to the meat and my belly.

Awesome selection of fresh and hot BBQ sauces, at least 6. The smoked turkey was moist and you didn't need a knife as it was soo tender. The chicken and pork were infused with delicious wood smoke. Potato salad was also enjoyable. Today when I checked in I received a "free hand rub from Jack." Lol. Yelp special, really cool AND Jack was actually in the restaurant. All 6 hot (temperature) were unique and flavorful, enjoyed all, especially the Carolina mustard. Yum. I look forward to returning.

Great pulled pork and lots of sauces to choose from. Just good down-home BBQ.

The people here didn't know what they were doing, maybe cause this place is newer? They got our order wrong and forgot to give us our biscuits. The meats are dry and flavors are not good. Chicken was especially bad. Overall just another bad bbq place nothing memorable.

Great southern bbq. Everyone was super friendly. I felt like a sinner choosing toast instead or cornbread but I'm so glad I did. Soooo good. several sauces to choose from our favorite was the Kansas style bbq. I got mac n cheese and baked beans for my sides. They were good but I seen someone come out with potato salad and it looked delicious. I got the pork. My husband got the brisket. Reminds me of a city bbq if you are familiar with them. We will be back.

You don't know Jack...about Bar-B-Que. This is a mediocre barbecue joint dressed up like some Nashville treasure. You can't put makeup on this pig and call it pretty! I came in three times to this location thinking it would be different eat time. Each time ordering the combo plate. The pork shoulder, super dry, every time. The beef brisket tasted good, but not great. The chicken and the ribs were similar to the brisket, just okay. The cornbread, yuck, felt like crumbled sawdust in my mouth. The side dishes at Jack's had to be the lowest point of this experience. The apples tasted like they came out of a can, the baked beans did too. The sweet potato tasted had way too much butter in it. I could see a ring of fat surrounding my sweet potatoes on my dish. I've had better food in hospitals. Seriously. $15 for three meats and 2-3 spoonful of sides, and something that looks like bread. I would be willing to pay more if the quality was there. The only highlight of Jack's is their North Carolina sauce, very tasty and one of the best bbq sauces I've ever had. I'll hit the road Jack and won't come back no more!

This was my first time to Jack's and was very impressed. The BBQ was excellent and the staff's attitude was very accommodating. What I enjoyed most was their selection of 6 different bbq sauces...from Memphis to Kansas City to Texas and more. A bit pricey but very enjoyable.

Fantastic BBQ!! We all enjoyed the food tremendously and my son (who has a severe egg allergy) could eat everything here! The make all the food on site and the staff told us there aren't any eggs used in the food!

Nashville has a wealth of mediocre Barbeque places, and Jack's sits among them. I went for the combo, which comes with three meats, two sides, plus bread, and costs just under $15. A little high for a counter-service place, but very reasonable for the amount of food. Most other platters seemed fairly standard as well. The sides were unremarkable - certainly not bad, but nothing special. Plenty of options though. The meats I chose were pulled pork, smoked turkey, and spare ribs. The pulled pork was decent - again, nothing really that distinguishes it, but not bad. The smoked turkey was a bit dry. The ribs though...oh the ribs. Torched. Black. Solid Charcoal. Not just "overdone", not with a bit of char like on a good brisket, but completely inedible. The upsides were that the staff was friendly, and they have several selections of different styles of BBQ sauce. I would never suggest coming back, but if someone did drag me back I'd stick to the pork and add a bit of flavor with a sampling of the sauces.

First time trying this out as we passed through Nashville for an overnight. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped us pick out our meats and sides. The combo was very plentiful and 3 of us shared it along with the two large sides that were included. We had the brisket and it was wonderful. Very lean with just enough smoke to catch your attention without overwhelming you. They also offer a selection of several different sauces from KC to Carolina to Texas (and a few others in between). The restaurant is one of the nicest BBQ places I've been in. Can't wait to go back our next time through Nashville.

A couple blocks from the Charlotte exit of Interstate I-265 downtown loop, this new barbeque outpost is simple to get to. A lot has improved there. Jack's Bar-B-Que lot on Charlotte avenue was a prison site and now its a site for 'que. Yea, that's progress. The barbeque is not the cheapest, but it is some of the best. We argued whether to get the brisket or the Tennessee shoulder, so we ended up with a heap of St. Louis ribs we shared. They were juicy and tasty but with a bit excess fat. But good tasting fat! The mac & cheese was the best side and also some of the best around town. Skip the cornbread. And skip the horsy sauce since there are five other sauces there better. Jack's is great but we like Slow & Low better.

Went today for lunch, and I really enjoyed the food, but more than that I enjoyed the service. Such delicious smells were every where, and it was hard to choose what to eat so if you LOVE Bar-B-Cue then Jack's is well worth visiting.

Best BBQ spot in town for lunch with kids on a Saturday. Easy access, great parking and hands down the best most consistent Q in town.
