Overpriced, low service, mediocre, heavy food, but oddly, flavor is there. I would like to see updated, fresh menu items.

Have tried this place once before and it was not great .. was told to give it one more try so thought we would give it one more chance on our recent visit to Nashville. I have to say the food was disgusting. I wouldn't feed this to my dog... the salad's were old and had dressing that tasted like a store bought version. The main dishes was overly sauced and salted ,..trying to hide old food...the vegetables couldn't be more like rubber..not to mention the bugs in one of the salad's and hair in the soup.. the drinks seemed to be watered down and the wine had lost all its flavor..the whole meal was just inedible and disastrous, actually two people in our group sent the food back and did not eat dinner, the rest of us just moved it on our plate and left it there. I will not go back, this is basically a step below just plain disgusting. The server seemed not to be interested that there was so much food left on our plates and when he told him that it was not good, he seemed to ignore it and tried to push dessert on us...really? didn't have a clue. Seems all they did was argue with each other in the kitchen..it is obvious that this place is old and tired. ,,,they must be paying people to write the good reviews, because after eating there, the food really is not good especially for the high price. Italian they wouldn't know Italian if a meatball hit them in the face. ..with so many new and excellent restaurants in town..save your money and eat somewhere else, which we did on the rest of our visit.

While the food wasn't bad by any means, it was so unspectacular and ridiculously overpriced, I would never go back. Basically, it was on par with somewhere like Macaroni Grill or maybe a tiny step up from Olive Garden, yet the prices are commensurate with fine dining. They miss the fine dining mark by a long shot. The interior doesn't look like it's been updated since 1993. The chairs are black metal and uncomfortable. I felt like I stepped back in time a couple of decades. Not in a chic retro way, either. Unimpressed.

Once upon a blur I lived only a few blocks from Antonio's and it just made sense that I'd soon migrate over to see what it was all about. My first experience was a random Friday night--new to Nashville--and instead of figuring the lines to all the downtown hotspots, the wife and I chose to stay close to home. The average age of the other diners that night had to have been about 74 but when we were warmly greeted by the thick accented septegenarian maitre'd I figured it couldn't be that bad at all. Old school Italian American. Literally. First impression? Anyone that can serve me cod as a fish of the day and I like it... I'm singing praises. And that's exactly what they did at Antonios. Cod simmered in a copper pot in a wonderfully simple broth... you have got to be kidding me... it was like some kind of culinary prank, in a good way! Since then, I've graduated to several of the other classic items... The filet with Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and seafood soup are both winners... and repeats for me. For the wife - whose tasted are completely tangential to mine-the melanzane eggplant is her go-to item. She's also had the spiedini too, which means I've had it as well. 4 thumbs up. We're not in Nashville anymore but Antonios has always been a signature spot in our out-and-about meal destinations.

So, my mom and Aunt LOVE Antonio's. I think it's pretty good, not my favorite, but it'll do. I'm writing this review for my mom because she had a great dinner tonight but an appalling experience with her server regarding the use of their half price entrée coupons. As a regular at the restaurant, mom gets emails with coupons when they are made available to those on the email list. The coupon email states plainly that it can be printed as many times as you would like and encourages sharing those coupons with friends and family. While eating tonight with a half price entrée coupon, mom noticed a young couple eating at a table behind them. She decided to "pay it forward" and offered the gentleman a coupon when the lady left the table for a minute. My mom felt obliged to inform them that the restaurant prefers that you tip on the original total. Something that they make clear when bringing the check out with both the pre discounted total and the discounted total. After doing so, and when the waiter brought mom her check, he, sort of nastily, if you will, informed my sweet mother, that "if she was going to give out coupons in the restaurant she should make sure to tell people to tip on the pre discounted amount." GROSS. YOU ARE SO TACKY. HOW DARE YOU?! NEWS FLASH: make a policy regarding tips and coupons or take your chances like the rest of us who wait on people during half price entrée month you douche. Grow up.

Hello everyone One of my favorite ethic foods is Italian; that is IF it is created correctly. I have lived in the Nashville are for almost 10 years. It took me nearly 8 years to find a great place to dine. When I fine a restaurant I know is authentic (as can be), I stick with it. My number one Italian restaurant... " Mafiaoza's' ! ( Unbelievable Italian) I kept hearing about this Italian restaurant in Bellevue but could not remember the name. " Try it! " Try it!" O.K. so the occasion arose tonight to take my wife out for dinner, which we do 2 - 3 times a week. She asked where I want to go eat and of course, I said I was not in the mood for Greek, Mexican, Steaks and suggested Italian. Then she asked . . . " Mafiaoza's" ? Of course, I said " Yes". She then said, since we are far from Mafiaoza's, she suggested I log onto ' Y E L P ' and see what was in the area. BAM . . . I could see that we were only 2 minutes from Antonio's and told her, that this might be the place that was referred to me on several occasions. We pulled in and found a most lovely restaurant in a place that one might not find a "Up-scale" culinary eatery. We walked in and although we did not have a reservation ( I suggest you always call ahead if you want to dine at Antonio's ) , was not shunned for what I would say, that I was inappropriately dressed ( my wife was stunning ) as I was in a Chef Jacket and trousers ( very clean however). We were seated without incident or stares or shunned gazes. THE FOOD: The food, well, let me cut to the chase.... " SIMPLY AMAZING" ! NO, " SIMPLY A WONDERFUL MEAL AND DINING EXPERIENCE TO SAY THE LEAST ! " My wife was more than please and as for myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience ! Oh, I for got to mention a couple of things to YOU, the reader, My wife is a pure bred Italian born in New York ( later raised in New Jersey ) and can personally created for me, some of the best Italian dishes (when she has time to cook ); but who has time to cook ? WELL, I do ! We own and operate our own restaurants. I am PAPA of Papa Boudreaux's Cajun Cafes & Catering Companies. I KNOW GREAT FOOD WHEN . . . I EAT IT ! Thanx Antonio's . . . we'll definitely return ! S I X S T A R S , no less !

Love this place! Antonio's is one of the best dining experiences in Nashville. The food is truly delicious and the experience top notch. Come here if you want to savor your meal, not if you are in a huge rush. The presentation is great and the atmosphere is nice. Just came tonight for my sons 14th birthday!

Amazing true Italian food, and nice ambience for an intimate dinner. We were very pleased while selecting our meals, at the options that we had to choose from. Not the typical things you see on a reasonably priced menu. You usually have to choose between a great menu and high prices, or the normal selections and average prices.... At Antonio's you get the best of both. A great menu at reasonable prices... Great wine list as well.

I'd bought a Groupon for this place a few months ago that was due to expire this week, so we made the trek out last night. We've tried a few Italian places in Nashville, and based on our one visit, I think pretty highly of Antonios' compared to the competition. Let me get out of the way the one thing I didn't like before I jump to all the awesomeness of our dinner. Before seating us, they asked if we had a Groupon. That's one of my pet peeves. It always makes me wonder if we're about to get second-class service, or a reduced menu, or what. So let me use this review to implore restaurant owners: if you agree to a deal with Groupon, take it cheerfully at the end of the meal and don't ask people if they have one before they're done. I can count several restaurants in the Nashville area on which I've spent hundreds of dollars, but I never would have tried them without a Groupon. OK, rant over. We were seated at a table in the back corner of the restaurant, which was great for us. The waitress brought out a small complimentary plate of bruschetta. Main course prices are about what you'd expect -- roughly $14 to $19 for the pasta dishes, and $18-$28 for most of the pure meat dishes. Other reviewers have raved about the shrimp bisque in cognac. Believe them. Served in a bread bowl, it's rich, creamy, and delicious. At a $10 price tag, you might be tempted to forego it -- but if you like bisque, I'd recommend you try it. We were also really pleased with the complimentary house salads. The dressing was creamy and delicious (hey, you noticing a trend here?). And, the leaves were fresh. In general, I don't love salads, but we both agreed this one was excellent. My girlfriend tried the Capellini alla Guidea ($17), which was an angel hair pasta in a red wine and cream sauce with Italian bacon, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms, along with slight hints of green onions and tomatoes. It was easily one of the better pastas we've tried in Nashville. I was tempted to order the saltimbocca on the menu, but opted for a nightly special -- a beef tenderloin entree prepared with a veal demi-glace topped with a handful of peppercorns and served alongside an asparagus risotto. The risotto was divine. I don't love asparagus, but it was easy to pick those out. The beef was out of this world. It was tender, the sauce was rich, and whatever kind of peppercorns they used (not your usual peppercorns) gave it an extra punch when you'd bite into one. Overall, this place was a hit. Even though it's a bit of a drive and not very convenient, I'd easily go back. (Remember what I said about Groupons creating frequent customers?) The flavors were good, the portion sizes were substantial, and the prices were all reasonable. Definite winner.

While Bellevue is not a place I search out when coming home to visit family, Antonio's is. We've been going here for the past 5 years for great dinners and service. Small groups or large parties, this restaurant has never let us down. Too many things to recommend. See you again in November, Antonio's!

The atmosphere was nice, if it was not so warm out I would have chosen to sit outside on their patio. The first thing that hit me as we were shown our table was the overwhelming smell of fish...not sure if it was because it was a Friday or what but it was really strong and offensive. Our waiter seemed nervous and like he was trying too hard which made me feel uncomfortable. The food was just OK...the bisque was good, the bread was dry, the chicken with a lemon butter sauce only tasted like the chargrill and the salmon with vodka sauce was not traditional Italian. We drove out from Hermitage because the menu looked amazing but I would not go back. We are from upstate NY where all they have are Italian restaurants so I have experience with Italian food.

My husband and I stumbled upon Antonios after searching all over Nashville for a good Italian restaurant. Who knew it was in Bellvue all along? The staff is amazing. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. The food is spectacular. Everything is fresh and you can even see into the kitchen while they are making your food from scratch. Everything we've had there has been fantastic and pretty reasonably priced. We always take family here when they're in town. LOVE this place, Definitely check it out.

I love this place! We go there at least twice a month. My favorite thing on the menu is the lamb chops, veal shank, shrimp bisque, and the steak (if prepared medium rare). Service is great and the drinks are strong.

Antonio's is our "go to" place and has been ever since they opened (17 or so years ago.) The food is prepared fresh in their kitchen daily, and the quality of the ingredients is excellent. Antonio is from Athens, Greece and the mediterranean influence is apparent, but still it is an Italian restaurant. Antonio knows his stuff! I will also applaud them for consistency in staff. Several on staff have been with him since the day the door opened. They also have a very nice patio if the weather is good. They have an extensive wine list and several times a year, they offer gift certificate sale specials, where you purchase a certain amount and get an additional amt. for free. It is also a very romantic restaurant. We have seen several couples get engaged there over the years. Also, I would urge you to try the Early Bird Dinner specials, the portion is very nice and includes a house salad. Give them a try, you will love Antonio's!

One of my favorite restaurants! I have no idea why it took me so long to review it. Antonio's is lovely. The food is fantastic! Bruschetta, vino, bread, INCREDIBLE shrimp bisque in a bread bowl, vino, bread, house salad, vino, bread, the BEST chicken parm I've ever put in my mouth, sorbet....food/vino coma. Perfect evening! Sometimes I shake it up and get lasagna. It's delicious! I'm not a fan of the seafood dishes. The service is always top notch. Mike at the bar is fun to hang out with if you choose to grab a cocktail or dine there. It's family owned in sleepy Bellevue. Highly recommend!!

Hats off to the chefs!! Food is really good but yes quite pricey. The restaurant appears clean. i'm not sure the waitstaff is entirely knowledgeable. The manager is extremely unfriendly and not at all what you would expect for a restaurant that is on the high-end for that area. I dine at all kinds of restaurants. This manager would not even earn one star... I gave it because the place is pretty clean and the chefs know how to cook a variety of foods (not low cal tho!)

I LOVE some good ole Italian food. Most of the times I've come to Antonio's, I have gotten my food to go and it's left me in a food coma to say the least! The last time I visited my family and I decided to dine in and the food didn't fail. The shrimp bisque is a MUST have when you come here. It will leave your palette well awakened for the main course. I always get the Linguine con Salmone alla Vodka mmm mmm GOOD! I am hooked on this dish. Everyone should try it at least once. The variety of deserts were pretty impressive as well. We shared the carrot cake and the chocolate cake and both were not overly sweet but melted tastefully in the mouth upon each bite. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars was because the service wasn't the best. Our waiter was a bit "standoffish" and never took the time to explain the menu to us while other waiters were taking the time out to be jovial with the other customers. The host at the restaurant was such a peach and I would definitely dine in again if I get a different waiter. Nonetheless the food here is delicious and certainly worth it!

I would give them ten stars if I could! I have lived in Nashville my whole life but never went to Antonio's until last night. What a treat! It's a little pricey but is worth every penny. The service was prompt, the farfalle with crab was absolutely divine! Their desserts are delish! Oh and their house salads with their homemade italian dressing is spectacular!!! It's very cozy and has kind of a romantic vibe. Can't wait to go back!!

Antonio's is my favorite Italian restaurant in Nashville! I have enjoyed dining here for years and the quality of food and atmosphere are consistently well-performed. This is a terrific date night or with family and friends for a relaxing evening. A type of dining experience to dine and savor the food without rushing to eat and out the door. I always start with smoked salmon and capers and attempt to choose a different entree each time even though I am tempted to repeat a previous selection. Antonio's is off the beaten path in the Bellevue area strip retail area but there is plenty of parking and reservations are recommended. I highly recommend adding this to your top restaurants to dine! Worth the drive to this section of town!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
