I'd have to label this for ambiance and decor perhaps the hippest trendiest restaurant in Murfreesboro in the main seating area. It feels like you are in a movie or in Las Vegas or Miami. Definitely a respite from the typical Murfreesboro. For good or for bad the dress code is very casual and most people dress casually here. For atmosphere this gets rated high though overall it is only a medium sized restaurant. The food is good for the price, but do not expect the "best sushi" or best food but to my tastes it is good for what you get. The pricing is actually very reasonable. The service is excellent with very fast moving fairly attentive staff. They may not hold a conversation with everyone but they are very attentive. They have a full service bar with seating, and a sushi bar with seating if you are a lone sushi eater. The general seating has booths and tables. If you are a group of 7+ not doing the hibachi grill seating may be difficult on busy nights. I've had the hibachi grill experience with a group once. It is absolutely a wonderful fun group experience. They have private rooms you can reserve, but the one we had we did share with one other group across the room though the tables are split fairly far apart. Our chef was a character and very entertaining. They definitely know how to perform. This place seems for me more of a place to bring friends or come as a group than for a date though it is a trendy spot.

Ok, well I waited plenty of time to take my second trip to Samurai in order to make a fair assessment. Both visits resulted with mistaken orders and subpar preparation. The positives? As far as atmosphere is concerned, this place would hold it's own on 'the strip' of Las Vegas. My suggestion for this feeble ninja is to restructure their image and focus on their bar vibe. It's a sexy place with lots of potential. Pump up the jams a tad and turn it into a vibrant night spot is what I say. Cheers.

One of the better Sushi places in Murfreesboro.

Well the show was good the food was good/ok. The tea was almost unsweet, coming from a person that dont like my tea that sweet. But what just really threw me off was the awful ppl I had to sit by! stuck up teenagers, mean moms, loud mouth overbearing guy, who wanted to share why fat ppl are fat (BTW IM FAT) and his life story. I have never been so happy to leave a restaurant.

Things I loved: * free soda refills (not always a given at a Japanese steakhouse) * decor (creative, chic) * fried rice (maybe my favorite fried rice ever) * shrimp * steak (great flavor) * service (both the hibachi chef and the servers) Things that I didn't love: * veggies (too much sauce, soggy, not crisp) * scallops (little bit slimy and rubbery) * overall too much sauce - my food was sort of swimming in it

Terrible experience! We sat at the hibachi grill and waited over an hour for a chef. It was not busy in there. Only after someone else near us complain, did the manager show up. He did not care and had a pretty nonchalant demeanor. I heard him say that the chef was new and he'd be in shortly. The chef finally showed up and cooked the food at a snail's pace too. He did not season the food properly or cook it in the correct order in order to keep everything somewhat hot. Also, everyone did not get equal portions. This was my biggest pet peeve. Hibachi grills are not cheap and I do not want to be shorted on the food. So between this and the unapologetic manger, I will not be back. The decor is nice though.

I have sushi here and it was fantastic! It's a bit more pricey that I would like, but for good sushi and saki, this is a great place to go! The environment is very comfortable, and the service is great. It is a great place for a date, or just having sushi and saki with friends.

This restaurant has great decor, but that is about all. We didn't wait long for a table, but once we were seated, the wait began. Even after they sat another couple at the table, we had a significant wait to take out order. After taking our order, it took a while for soup and salad. They forgot to give the other couple at the table their drinks. The food was just ok. I have had better habachi in murfreesboro. This is place you should pass up and try one of the many other places in his city.

This is easily the best hibachi restaurant in Murfreesboro from a decor standpoint. The food is also of a higher quality than others in the area. The prices are a bit higher and the portions are a little smaller though. Overall a really great place!

Excellent food. Can be pricy, but they do run specials. Great sushi and hibachi. The ambiance is great with cool lighting and jazzy background music.

Good atmosphere. Good food. Good service. Took the wife and my two boys on Valentine's Day. The boys loved the chef, he was fun and playful. Have heard the sushi is excellent but I will have to try that next time because I had so much food. Only thing to prepare for is the price. For a date expect to pay about $70.. but it is worth it.

This is, or rather, was my favorite place to eat. I know my favorite chefs by name, and have exhausted my family's tolerance of the frequency I patronize this restaurant. Today, however, they refused coupons because of the Mother's Day holiday (understandable) but they also refused to honor their own frequent visitor program even though the offer was only good for this one visit. Edit: The manager did return at the end of the meal to give me a coupon for them to honor it on my next visit. The chef SHAMELESSLY flirted with a 17 year old at the table. This including teasing her about her ability to pack away food and repeatedly saying he was your average man. He even discussed her future constipation. TWICE. I cannot fathom forgetting hearing the word constipation while eating dinner in enough time to return to use my Mother's Day coupon. It is a sad day for me, but I will be looking for a new favorite restaurant.

Was not impress. Felt like a wanna be night club. I did eat around 5. Sushi was below average for whatever my opinion is worth.

My wife & I ate in the dining room and not the hibachi grill. The atmosphere and ambience are really top notch. It feels as though you are eating at a fine dining restaurant. We had the fried calamari and squid salad for appetizers. Both were very good. The squid salad had a great ginger flavor and was a bit chewy, but had excellent flavor. The calamari was accompanied by a sweet & sour chili sauce that was good. The MVP dish was the Beef Tartarki!! It was amazing! It is thinly sliced pieces of beef with jalapeño peppers over each piece.

  • Erika R.

The calamari was ok. The sauce was really good, but there was more breading than meat. The breading was flaky though so that was nice. The Foxy Lady roll was supposed to be spicy, but without the jalapeño slice on top it was pretty bland. Out Of Control roll was amazing again.

This place is just alright. There are a lot of hibachi restaurants in Smyrna for some reason, and this one is no better or worse than any of the other ones. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait about 20-25 minutes for a table, which wasn't too bad considering it was around 6:30. Service was overall pretty good, nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. We got the Shrimp Tempura Roll as an appetizer, which was done well. We also got this giant flaming drink to share and it was massive. Very strong, but a good amount of alcohol for the money. This one is definitely not one you could probably drink alone, so make sure you have a friend around to help. The hibachi entrees were cooked well. We didn't do the whole show with the chef and everything, just because we didn't feel like going through all that hoopla. Rice and meat were quite greasy though, which wasn't very appetizing. But like I said before, nothing better or worse than any of the other places in town. The sushi was pretty good, so if I did come back here I would probably only get the sushi and not do any of the hibachi stuff.

Terrible service and there was a hair in my husband's food. Sushi was very bland! This was our first and last visit here! Not even a one star rating!

Everything was overdone. Shrimp was like rubber. Asked that lobster not be overcooked, yet it was and filet was well instead of medium. Then to top things off we got the bill and a box halfway through the meal. Felt like getting bums rush out the door.

I come here often. It's conveniently located gor me, the good is good and the ambiance is really nice. Sushi and hibachi are pretty good here, everything else seems to be a little hit or miss. The bar area is nice. I am only giving 4 stars because I think some items on the menu need improvement. Definitely one of my go to places in Murfreesboro.

Hibachi grill is great. The food is fresh, the servings are more than enough. Atmosphere is nice. Great for a couple, fun for the family. Our go to place on Middle TN.

My husband and I stopped in around 8:30 on a Thursday night, hoping it wouldn't be too late to get a seat at the hibachi table. To our surprise we not only got a table, but all to ourselves. The staff was extremely polite and attentive and our table chef (JoJo) put on quite a show. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and presented beautifully. We started with yellow tail and tuna nigiri, crunchy shrimp roll and a beef tartarki. All of it was fantastic but the beef tartarki stole the show. It is a unique item to find and they seasoned it perfectly and paired with a sauce that was to die for. Then we ordered the Land & Sea for 2 hibachi dinner. Again, our chef put on an excellent show, talked with us and still cooked everything perfectly to order. This was an exceptional experience for us!

We came here on a birthday dinner for 8 people. First off the food was way too salty they need to lay off the seasoning soy sauce salt whatever on the hibachi. The sushi was good but pretty pricey compared to fin fusion. I would come back here again because of the atmosphere but they need to work with their hibachi chefs on how to season their food. People don't want to eat mostly sodium and feel like a dried out sponge after they eat. So take note only a little bit of salt little bit of soy sauce goes a long way. Not to mention our other guests felt like they were ripped on on the portion they received from the hibachi. If we're paying $30 a piece we should be able to get more rice, veggies and meat.

Great atmosphere. Great food and a great show. Our chef was juggling fire! !! They started a new incentive program since the last time we were here. First time we signed up we got a free soda. After 6 check-ins we get a free appetizer. Worth coming back to this location for free food. Best part is this is right next to Gigis cupcakes

My whole family and friends have been going to Samurai's for years...and we all loved it, but about 2 weeks ago we all went (17 of us) for our 25th anniversary...we finally got all our children and friends together in one place...everything was going great until (long story short) we get the bill...had to get the manager involved...REALLY! He said we were served the lunch portion...okay, but really...a salad, no soup, 4 pcs. of steak and 4 shrimp for $22 something...that was so so messed up...The MANAGER was rude and very unprofessional. ..he finally got all the bills fixed after arguing with us for an hour...the waitress was great (really sorry we got her upset) None of us will ever go back to Samurai's again

We didn't do hibachi so keep that in mind while reading this; the hibachi experience might be a lot better. We went for the first time and were really disappointed. The server seemed uninterested and rarely checked up on us. The miso soup was very obviously (and we were then told this) powder mixed with water and served cold...gross. Gyoza was fine but probably not made in house (if it is, not bad). I got red curry with tofu and it was about 80% green bell peppers plus some random carrots, onions, pineapple, and asparagus (the actual curry sauce was fine, not sure I'd call it red curry, but it tasted fine....the vegetables were just poor choices). The tofu was undercooked (mostly raw) and there were very few pieces in the dish, especially considering I was paying the same price as the dish with chicken. As with anything, it's possible we just went at a bad time or something but we're definitely not going back. We paid entirely too much for a below mediocre meal and poor service. The reason we tried this place out was because we forgot Sushin is closed on Sunday. Do yourself a favor and go there instead. It is literally right across the street and you'll get better food, better service, and save money.

Best hibachi in town, love the atmosphere. Its a little bit more expensive than other places, but still a decent price at lunch time.

Never had their hibachi, only sushi. I've slipped away to have a girls day & we've had lunch here twice. Neither time dissapointed. We usually get two rolls each, then share. So far my favorie is the spicy tuna & tempora shrimp. The first time I walked in I thought I was woefully underdressed, but when my eyes adjusted to low lights, I realized that everyone was casual. Beautiful place and attentive service.

We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The food was really good - some of the best sushi I've had in a long time. I ordered the spicy tuna roll and the crunchy shrimp roll. Then for my main course I had the steamed Chilean sea bass. It was a great piece of fish served on top of a life raft of asparagus to keep it from soaking up too much of the sweet soy sauce in the bottom of the dish. It was cooked perfectly. The teenagers with me both had chicken teriyaki. The servings were plentiful and the service was attentive. The decor of the restaurant was modern and sleek. This is my second visit to this restaurant. The first time I had sat at the hibachi table and was very pleased with the food then as well. I will most definitely return. The check-in discount was much appreciated as well.

Last week I had my first experience with Samurai's and overall I had a good experience. My date and I went somewhat late so we were the only ones at our hibachi table. We split a Scorpion Bowl and spicy tuna sushi before the hibachi chef came out. The drink was awesome and the sushi was some of the best I've had in Murfreesboro (do not fret Fin Fusion, I still love you!) We both had the chicken entree from the hibachi and it was very good. We got soup and salad with the hibachi so there was A LOT of food. The chef was entertaining and didn't make me attempt to catch any random food being flung at me. (I mean really hibachi places, it's fun sometimes but not when I'm on a first date and looking cute!) The only complaint was the fact although we were there late, the staff was pretty much closing around us and it was weird. It's hard to enjoy a first date when someone is vacuuming and pushing you to cash out/pack up leftovers. Overall I enjoyed my experience and would definitely go back again, maybe at a more decent time for the staff so I don't feel unwanted at their establishment. Lol.

On our first visit here, we "accidentally" purchased almost a Benjamin and a Franklin's worth of sushi. Everything was described so well on the menu that we couldn't resist. All you could hear from our table was, "Oh, what about this one?!" "Or this one!?" I recommend the Pink Lady. Their version is delicious. They also offer, for those of you who are sushi beginners, chicken rolls! A chicken roll is cooked chicken that is lightly fried in tempura and wrapped in rice. I also love, love, love the decor. You walk out of the 'Boro and enter a hip, swanky sushi and hibachi bar. I'm picturing New York in my mind when I walk in. Fabulous. Even the bathroom is soaked in red lighting that reminds you of a hipster club or bar. Along with the sushi, the hibachi is just as great. It's a pretty standard setup. One that you would receive at other hibachi restaurants, but the catch is that they always offer BOGO discounts that make your scallop and shrimp combo oh so good. I highly recommend Samurai Cuisine.

It was a pleasant surprise when I finally had time to come here to test the waters. First of all, the decor and ambiance is cool and does not look like anything from around Tennessee. We ended up dubbing the decor "retro James Bond-ish". Different textures were used throughout the well appointed interior and the restaurant would not be out of place in Nashville. The appetizer was so-so. It was a seared white tuna but it had a lot of water in it, which reminded me of frozen fish. The menu had a wide variety of dishes, from hibachi, to udon noodles, to sushi and sashimi. I had the sashimi lunch plate, which had 10 pieces of fish and came with miso soup and a small dinner salad. The fish tasted good! It was fresh, good quality and excellent presentation. The service was excellent; we were there during the dead time between lunch and dinner and there were only 3 tables occupied. I will need to come back during the lunch or dinner hour to get a better idea of the service level. Overall, Samurai's is a welcome addition to the Boro's restaurant scene.

I had the pacific roll and it was spectacular, I am quite new to sushi so still a little fussy but this was to die for. I wishes I lived in the area as this would be by regular sushi restaurant. The sushi chefs were great and very chatty, they suggested the pepper tuna sashimi. So I had two pieces in there special sauce after the pacific roll ...OMG. Very powerful dish and I am glad I had it at the end.. I can not speak any more highly of this place... Every dish was off the charts good. Possibly best sushi I have ever had in my shirt 2 years of liking it

Not even worthy of one star! Came in and was told a 45 minute wait, waited an hour and then was told it would be another 45 minute. Never ever coming back.
