This is perhaps one of my favorite restaurants in Murfreesboro. The food is always good and is at a reasonable price, so good value. The drink I always have, Texas Tea, is made well and worth the money. The staff are friendly everytime I go and make me feel welcome to keep coming back. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out or for a casual lunch.

Good for a chain restaurant; service was good, lots of variety for lunch. Haven't been in several years, as they didn't have location in Portland, but was just a decent as I remember.

My wife and I had an opportunity to eat in Murfreesboro, so we asked a friend there if there is a good place to get a vegetarian meal. She told us about Cheddars. When we arrived, things looked very busy but our expected and actual wait time was about 15 minutes - acceptable for the amount of customers there today. We were seated and given good customer service by our wait staff, shown the menu and Taylor answered all our questions quite nicely. The vegetarian menu options were limited to spasagna (think lasagna made out of spaghetti) or a vegetable plate. We decided to go with the spasagna since neither of us had ever tried that before, along with house salad and tea. We should have gone with the vegetable plate as neither one of us could finish our spasagna - no problem there for portion size! The reason for 4 out of 5 stars: limited (2) vegetarian options for a chain restaurant that serves this many customers throughout the South.

The food from Cheddars is delicious, but the service in the Murfreesboro location is atrocious. Our group waited for almost an hour before our server even took our meal order. And this wasn't just a one time occurrence. The chain is definitely amazing and affordable. But I wouldn't waste your time at this location.

When we first walked up to the front door of the restaurant I noticed that they had 4 large doors all being held open by young girls. It's close to 100 degrees outside and all I can think of is the wasted air conditioning. Well, that was all I could think of until the girl holding the door in front of me let it close in my face as I was walking up to her. When the door shut it was about 8 inches from my nose. Sure, I was able to go through the other door, but it seemed pretty rude. She certainly saw us there. Either hold the door or don't, but be careful about it. Regardless, I would have been fine with opening the door myself. Not sure the mentality of having four people on payroll to open a door at a place like this. We had no wait time, since our friends had already been seated and were waiting for us. I did notice 3 hostesses waiting inside the door. Our server was friendly, attentive without being annoying, showing genuine concern over our satisfaction. The food runner and one other server we interacted with were both friendly. The service alone was enough to make me want to return. Unfortunately, we never saw a single manager. It would have been nice if one came to the table to see how we were doing. The food was overall pretty good. I had a steak. The temperature was as ordered, but I felt as if they went a little light on the seasoning. I didn't like the bed of onions that the steak was on, which almost immediately turned into a bunch of blood red noodles that reminded of an Eddie Murphy stand-up where he joked about the poor kid with the welfare burger that had ketchup soaked through white bread. The fries were fresh cut, skins on, and seasoned perfectly. My son is a cook. He had a bacon cheeseburger. From what I could see, they used thick cuts of bacon. He said it was cooked right and tasted "pretty good". My wife is from the south, and loved the chicken fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I sampled her chicken, and it seemed bland to me. The onion ring appetizer is gigantic, and excellent. Hand battered rings, with two sauces. The Cajun sauce should be spicier. Do not expect a craft beer selection. Overall: A little salt and pepper (cayenne for the Cajun stuff) can go a long way to improve some of these dishes. It feels as if the kitchen is afraid to season things. Get rid of all of the extra wait staff holding doors and bring in a proper front of house manager to improve service quality. I give 3 stars because the positives easily balanced out the negatives, and the price wasn't bad at all. 3 people with 2 cocktails and a beer for about $55.

I had the worst experience ever with my friends. Food oil almost an hour and still wasn't fully ready. My specific order of blackened salmon was all in pieces when I got it and not blackened at all. Server had an attitude with us after we complained about the situation and blamed the kitchen versus owning the situation. Server didn't clear the table of old dirty plates until we brought it to his attention. It was a seriously bad experience. The manager on duty Brandon totally attempted to fix it but at that point I was completely put off by all the bad parts of the meal and didn't even eat. Won't be coming back

Horrible!!!!!!! Horrible food....horrible service!!!! They messed up everyone from the drinks to the food to the check. The manager didn't comp 1 things off the check. Will never go back!

Great family restaurant. Nice and clean inside. Service is friendly and fast. Gets very busy for lunch so get there early like 11. Food is good. We like the onion rings for appetizer. Kids menu has good choices.

I am sad to see all the poor reviews about this location. This is my wife's favorite restaurant and except for a few occasions of slow service, the food has always been great and the service pleasant as well. This evening we ate dinner there after church and both tried something new. I had the jalapeno burger with a twist, which the server handled perfectly. I asked for a double burger and it was delicious and only a few dollars more. My wife had the Monte Cristo and it is the best we have ever tasted. It is quite decadent actually. Imagine a ham sandwich dipped in donut batter and fried. Yum! The server was very polite and made my 6 year old feel very grown up by including her in the ordering process and asking her the questions about how she would like her food. To me that was above and beyond, she could have just asked us, but she took the extra time to let my little one be a grown up. I think the majority of poor reviews are like any other reviews. Much of the time you only hear from the squeaky wheel's. Overall it is a nice affordable, child friendly place with good food and more than ample servings for what you pay.

Visiting family in Murfreesboro and we went here. It was affordable and had good food. My chicken fried steak was delish.

I love cheddars, seriously such a great chain. This place however disappointed me so very much. I am in town on business so I had to go get some chips and spinach dip. It was pretty empty inside so didn't take long to get my takeout order. The staff was very friendly, decor was nice. My issue was with the food. The spinach dip was thick and mushy, not ideal for dip. I ordered mashed potatoes as my side and not only were they very grainy and runny, more like grits, but they had so much salt in them. And I ordered broccoli cheese casserole as my other side and it was inedible. There was so much gelatinous cheese on top and the broccoli was so mushy I could tell it had been microwaved. The chicken tenders I ordered were good I guess, I wasn't interested in eating them after the disappointment of everything else. Very disappointed in this place

Really reasonable prices for the amount of food you get, but sometimes the quality is slacking. Always arrives fairly quick and the staff is friendly and courteous. Only problem I ever have is that no matter what I order I always want the tomatoes off...and there's always still tomatoes. But that's ok :)

The casual relaxing atmosphere of Cheddars complete with the large fish tank and large booths make this a great place for family gatherings or a night out with friends. In addition the menu is very easy on the budget as the majority of the menu items cost less than $10 and come with an ample amount of food. Unfortunately, this restaurants downfall is that the taste of these budget conscious menu items can be somewhat hit and miss! If you find a menu item that you thoroughly enjoy, your safest bet would be to continue to order that item rather than venturing out to try something new. My favorite appetizer: Spinach dip. Favorite entree: Tilapia Alexander Favorite a Sandwich: Monte Cristo Favorite Side Items: Broccoli casserole and carrots

This Cheddars was ok. My girlfriend and I went to eat here for lunch and service was a bit slow. Had the combo salad soup and my soup was Luke warm. Drinks were not being refilled and had to ask.

Food was good. Not as bad they do give a lot of portions on the food. I went there before 12 so we got a seat. When we left it was really pack out the door there are people waiting out side the door. Steak is kinda dried has no juice and it was more chewy and we did order medium rare to. Me and hubby 1st time going there and heard people was talking about that this place is really good. It was ok i had better.

Date of Visit: 3/20/214 Time: Noon Wait: none Party - 3 members Spinach Dip - not a ton, suitable for two people. Really nice and spicy salsa. Light chips as compared to heavy Mexican restaurant ones elsewhere. Monte Cristo - husband very happy since he has been hung up on the one from Bennigan's that he can no longer get because most of them went under. This one is actually deep fried and has a batter, unlike a lot of other places that say they have a Monte Cristo and it ends up just being a cold sandwich. Buffalo chicken wrap - I am a texture person and the fingers they used are huge and not crispy so it was just too...soft and needed more slaw on the wrap itself. The portion was huge. It looks like you are getting two wraps instead of one so you could easily share this. Service: was fine. Had no complaints. She brought out refills quickly and brought us our check just as fast which was nice. Restrooms - Um, awesome. Why you ask? Nice wooden doors that prying eyes are unable to peek through. I'd give this place five stars for this alone. Nothing worse than making eye contact with a stranger while you are on a toilet with legs exposed and underwear that may or may not be covered up. There are three regular stalls and one large stall. Restroom is neat and clean, albeit dark because of the décor.

I have eating at various locations of the Cheddar's chain and found them satisfactory; not outstanding, but a good value for the money. On this particular lunch visit, I had the Monte Cristo. The sandwich was good and plenty large enough. If I thought it would survive the re-heat, I would have taken half home for a late night snack. All in all, a decent lunch at a reasonable price.

They really have to train their servers better. I don't know if our server was having a bad day or what but she really brought down the atmosphere at our table every time she stopped by. My daughter didn't like her Mac and cheese and I had it set to the side in front of me. I told the server she didn't like it and instead of removing it from the table she just left it there to get old and gross and take up room. Her response was "oh ". I wasn't expecting anything special but I have been in the restaurant industry for a long time and this service was pretty bad. I won't be back, even my eight year said she wasn't going back!!

Not bad tonight. Had the New Orleans pasta. Nice kick in flavor but overboard on the green peppers. Outside that tasted good. Service was good as well.

We visited tonight and had dinner, the greeter was kind of lounging and talking while we stood there for a moment, we were seated by one of the waiters quickly, I had a hamburger with bacon, my wife and son split the country fried chicken, and my other son had a cheeseburger. The tea was fine, the service was good but my wife was displeased with how soggy the country fried chicken was and the mens bathroom had a real problem with sewer gas. A person could hardly stay in the mens room longer than a couple of minutes, there must have been a break in the sewer line or somehow the sewer gasses were getting in there. It will be a problem until it gets fixed. The decor was kind of Olive Gardenish which is nice. The pricing was affordable and there is plenty of variety in the menu. If we go back and the bathroom is fixed I will change the amount of stars.

Went there on Father's Day for lunch.. The service was good (food was slow, but that's not the waiter's fault) but my chicken came out raw in the middle. I've given this branch a chance a few times, but they always disappoint. Other times they've forgotten sides or served dishes with no flavor whatsoever. If I want Cheddar's again, I'll be driving to Smyrna for it!

Thought it was going to be nice to have a cheddars open in the boro. This will be our last time going. Started out ok but it is hard to mess up some chips and a beer. Then we moved on to some lunch. First when the meal arrive the server had spilled a full container of some sweet sauce in her tray, so all the plates had sweet sauce on the bottoms. Not sure why you would not go back to the kitchen and at least clean the bottom of the plate and get a new tray. Next they got my wife's order wrong. She said it was fine if they would just bring the salsa that was suppose to come with the chicken. Well they did not bring the correct salsa. That would not have been the worst of it if the chicken and shrimp was not over cooked. So I got a full rack of ribs and while the ribs were good the mash potatoes had way too much salt. Wish everyone better luck.

We've been to several different Cheddars an this one is by far the worst one!! We went there cause I was craving their Pear an Chicken Salad an when I got it, the pears weren't fresh like all the other Cheddars, the cider dressing didn't taste right an was drowning the salad, an the greens were wilted an limp no crunch to them what so ever. After telling our waitress she said she would let the manager know. We sat there for 30 additional minutes waiting on her but she never came to us an we never saw our waitress again. We had another waitress take out check so we could leave. We will NEVER go there again!!!!

I see from the other reviews that I am the first with anything positive to say. I always enjoy the opportunity to be different so here I go. I am not at all familiar with the area and was taken to this location by friends. I understand that the location is new and I will be taking this into consideration in my review. We arrived on a Saturday at lunch time and the place was packed, we did not have to wait for seating however because members of our party were already seated. There was a wait however when we got there, also as we were leaving, more than a hour and a half later. The ambiance inside was very nice and clean, and I especially like the fans spinning over the dining room. The waitress got to us quickly and took our drink order and came back relatively quickly seeing that we ordered sweet tea and it needed to be brewed. Our appetizer order was taken quickly as well as our entrees. Since I had never been to a Cheddars before I ordered a full meal as an appetizer, that being he fish tacos, with fries. The tacos were delicious and the amount serves well as either an appetizer or a meal. I ordered the full rack of ribs for my meal, with corn and mash potatoes as a side. Originally I was going to blast the ribs as being too dry and nothing special, but I saved half the meal for later and was pleasantly surprised at how even more delicious it was after being reheated. This to me is a big plus, because anyone who eats our regularly knows that restaurant food is not always the best reheated. We did not make it to dessert, but paid and our check was closed in a prompt manner. I said in the beginning that I would judge the restaurant fairly seeing that it was new, but to be honest I did not have to during this visit, but can understand others who might not be so kind.

Good place to take visitors, everyone can find something on the menu they like! Can get seated in a reasonable amount of time.

I hope Cheddars management takes notice of all the mediocre reviews this restaurant is getting. It's hit or miss as to whether you get good service here. Our latest waiter was atrocious. And the food is hit or miss. I ordered chicken and ribs and the ribs were tough as shoe leather and the hubby's steak and potatoes were cold. Oh... And NEVER go here for a birthday celebration!!!!!! As our waiter put it "we don't do anything for birthdays." He didn't even bother to wish our daughter a "happy Birthday" even when we were leaving. The only nice thing he said was when he came to put the receipt on the table, which was a meaningless transparent attempt to improve his tip. This place sucks.

Although I can walk to this location from my house almost, I'd rather bypass and eat at the one in Smyrna. The food at the Murfreesboro location is always cold and have at send it back. I always have to ask the lazy waiters/waitresses standing around talking at the bar to pass my food over before spit or hair goes flying in it. Then they give me a blank stare as if they had a problem with me asking for my plate because the bartender is too busy or the chef didn't bother to hollar order up! It just takes to long for them to prep frozen food and serve it on time. Never had this problem at the Smyrna location. Even though it's a drive, I will spend a couple of more dollars in my gas tank for the better service.

Attractive decor and staff nice enough but I will not return because they put black pepper on all but two menu items. I asked if they could have some items without pepper but management was not responsive. There are many other restaurants in Murfreesboro with caring management. Demos, here I come.

Our server Michael was amazing. He was very professional, kind, and accomodating. He anticipated our needs. We didn't have to ask for anything. The best service we have had in a long time.

I had a very good meal at a very reasonable price and will be back for more. A lot of comfort food and standards are served here. The customer service was polite and friendly. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant. I know they are a chain but they do a great job of training and maintaining quality standards. The only issue is the long line that forms on the weekends!

  • Mark S.

Not at auspicious start. The booth they put us in was very narrow. I asked for a different booth, which was better. The atmosphere definitely not one for relaxing dining more akin to a bar type atmosphere. Naturally as soon as we got here they had to set some kids next to us. At least they weren't the small screaming variety. The food seemed to take a while to get here. The food came out. I had the chicken Alfredo, which was quite good. Lee had the Djhon chicken and rice and mushrooms he said it was OK (food could've been a bit hotter). Not too bad but could use a quieter atmosphere.
