Pulled pork was dryer. Sauce was tasty. People were very nice.
I've been coming here since I was a child; first with my grandparents and now I'm bringing my own family. I live in TX, but we always stop here when we visit Brownsville. So very good! The pulled pork is always delicious, and the onion rings are fantastic. We always buy a bunch of sauce to take home! Absolutely divine!!!
My experience of Bozo's is 4.5 - 5 Stars. For the food, service, and atmosphere. Was there in 2013. We were just a couple of New Englander's traveling from Nashville to Memphis, when we found ourselves craving for some food. I hit up my GPS for "BBQ" and this place comes up. As I'm driving from the highway, I'm a bit annoyed that it was several miles off our track, but by the time I realize that, I'm already committed. And then we get there... This was probably the best random restaurant experience I have ever had. Ever. We find ourselves seated at a table on the right side of the restaurant, the very end by the window so we have a full view of the place. And the place is adorned with the local charm and hospitality of its residents. I honestly felt like I was partaking in a period movie set in the 1950's deep south. It just had the "feel" where everyone knows each other, life is slow, and life is happy. Customers don't even have to place an order. They just know what to bring the person (actually saw this happen). This old codger comes in, and the waitress makes small talk for a minute. "The usual", she says? Then come to find out, it WAS the setting of a movie. "Walk The Line", one of my all-time favorites. And then it all started making sense and I recognized the place. Of course I made my wife pose in many of the scenes as "June" and myself as "Johnny", for photo's. Even sat in the exact seats at the counter before we left. What was great about where we sat, was that in the movie you can see this very area that we sat at against the side windows in much of the scene. So I watch the movie when I want to be taken back this Bar-B-Que bliss. Food was GREAT!!! Pulled Pork Sandwich & Coleslaw. Loved the sauces. Left feeling very satisfied in many ways. Wish I could twitch my nose and be right back there this very minute!

The best catfish/seafood buffet in the South! The owners are always there during the evening, talking with the patrons, and you will generally see the regulars there if you go often enough. I've had friends drive all the way up from Memphis to come and eat here, and when family comes in from out of town, we always bring them here for a good dinner. A tip: Make sure you arrive early in the evening, sometimes parking can be a bit hairy, and the wait can be up to 45 minutes at times (yes, they are that good). They're only open on the weekends for dinner, but it's worth the drive if you're craving some good old fashioned fried catfish, shrimp, oysters, clams, hushpuppies, and fries. They also have fried chicken strips, an assortment of veggies, and dessert on the buffet also, so everyone can enjoy....
For a $20 seafood buffet, I expect much more. There were shrimp, crab strips and two types of fish, all deep fried. There were deep fried corn nuggets (that were the best thing on offer), deep fried chicken nuggets and deep fried hush puppies. Of the things that weren't deep fried, the pickings were slim and mostly overcooked. Deserts were poor, too. For $10, I wouldn't complain and might even come back but don't waste your money at current prices.
Food was good but the experience makes this one worthwhile. It is a very cool historic setting. The owner is very nice. He told us stories dating back to the Civil War. Gotta go at least once. He even built a fence for Elvis.

The spicy chicken is delicious. The service is the worst. I tried to preorder at 3 o'clock today & no one answered the phone. My friend tried to call after 5 and no answer. When he arrived at the restaurant at 6, an hour before they closed he was told that they were closed after waiting in line behind 3 people that arrived at the same time as him. They were allowed to place their order. If you running out of chicken an hour before you close, make more. That's just very poor customer service. Your chicken is good, but you won't have any return customers if you continue to run your business that way @ in such a small town that would be devastating.
I am not a big fried chicken fan. I was in Gus's about a week ago and the fried chicken was awesome. Will definitely be back when in the area.
So I saw this place on Best Thing I Ever Ate, and the host said we had to go to the original spot. We drove into rural Mason, TN from Memphis. The place is a shack but I loved their chicken, slaw, and baked beans. The grilled cheese, not so much. What we didn't like was the hour long wait for our food because we went there starving! I'm glad they cooked the food as you order but an hour was a very loooonnng wait. It was a good experience overall.
