Henry’s Sub Shop & Creamery

Sloan Center,4500 Highway 411 N
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
It's a lot larger than you'd think; the outside is deceptive. It's clean, comfortable and the decor is cute with lots of old metal posters/signs. The subs are huge! My reuben was very good. I liked that the marble rye bread was not over toasted and it had plenty of meat.
This place is really between 3 and 4 stars depending on what you order. The subs and the ice cream are killer but some of the other dishes are pretty bland. The steak tips are probably one of the best dishes they have. I still say it's one of the better restaurants in the area. If you are in the Madisonville area it's worth a stop and definitely worth it for the ice cream.
This is a family-friendly establishment that serves well-prepared food in generous portions. We came into town for the weekend to attend a wedding and were very pleased with our lunch. Staff is quick, smart and friendly. The subs an milk shakes were very good, the Ruben equally well praised by my sister in law. Everything is clean, the music is quiet, and conversation is easy. I highly recommend this calm and welcoming place to travelers.

This place was a great surprise to me! Although since discovering it I have eaten way too much pizza! By far the best place to stop in the Madisonville area. Don't just get hung up on the pizza though, the sandwiches are great too! Plus the prices are way better than the big chain pizza places!

A & W Drive-In

3989 Highway 411
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
I went by here on my way up to Knoxville. It was about 9 pm, so not terribly late. The service was slloooww, and the food is mediocre. I shared a corn dog, and it didn't have much flavor -- too much breading to hot dog ratio. The one upside is you can get a shit ton of A&W root beer here.
We drive about 30 miles to enjoy this drive-in.....what a wonderful place, like stepping back in time to enjoy a Papa Burger and a cold A & W root beer, which is the very best root beer on earth, in my opinion. The service is okay, the burgers are good and meaty, tastes like a Mom and Pop burger joint would make. Yes, you sit in your car and eat, push the button and order the food, they bring it out....It has always been prompt on our visits. The root beer milkshakes are awesome and soooo filling, you will feel stuffed all day !! The fries are okay, nothing special.....we have even ordered a gallon of root beer to go, which did take a few minutes for them to prepare. They apparently have a classic car "drive in" on Saturday evenings I think the sign says......show off your classic car I guess.... Anyway, we'll be going back.
This one of the few A&W drive ins left! I love the nostalgia of drive ins. The food is ok but I really enjoy the desserts! Always super friendly service and quite quick to get your food. I know everyone probably has an A&W near them but my advice is take a drive down 411 and stop here for shake. I've read that they are closing several A&W's and I just hope they leave this one alone!

Wendy’s

711 Englewood Rd
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
An odd setup. When you pull in it looks like a gas station but don't expect the employees inside to know anything about the pumps. They haven't a clue. Not sure who does really. But what they know is fast food. I've always found the people inside to be friendly but not so much in the drive-thru. The food is what I expect. Nothing more, nothing less than standard Wendy's. Watch leaving the parking lot, especially if you're turning left. You're turning right in front of an exit ramp and drivers might be looking the other way as they're merging.

This is just like all of the Hardees you're familiar with but they have a brand new dining room as of March 2010. The staff is friendly, even if the drive-through attendants seen frazzled sometimes from all the business. This location is very busy at breakfast, especially on weekends. Park on the drive-through side for easy entry/exit so you don't get stuck when the drive-through backs up.

Huddle House Restuarant

4915 New Highway 68
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
I always avoided this place because it was so smoky but since the no-smoking inside law in Tennessee was passed I was finally introduced to Huddle House. This is a greasy spoon, no doubt, but the food is good and reasonably priced. It's small so if you come at the busy times (lunch, after church, etc.), expect to wait for a seat. They will cook to order but if you like your eggs over hard, over-emphasize it or your eggs may be runny. Breakfast all times of day.

The Patio Italian Restaurant

107 College St
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
I went expecting this to be a great small town restaurant, I went with a buddy who is from Madisonville and he spoke very highly of the joint. Okay so when our waitress arrived I wanted to get a great appetizer and went down the list of...hey do you guys batter your own fried mushrooms...now they're frozen, how about your cheese sticks...now there frozen...and so the story goes. Most every thing seemed more like frozen food than fresh. I did ultimately get a gyro which was very tasty and wasn't frozen...trust me I asked. I'll be back to try the pizza I heard it was good but at this point I'm not a big fan.
Went here for a quick bit with my good friend and Monroe County insurance guru, Pat Pennington. The server was prompt, well presented and very helpful with the menu. I ordered exactly what she suggested. The grilled chicken salad with ranch dressing. I think they make their own dressing. if they don't I for sure need to know where that stuff came from it was so good. I not only ate the entire salad but two breadsticks and a sweet tea to boot! Let's just put it this way, I had a high waisted belt on my dress and took a deep breathe in and exhaled after lunch and POP! My belt snapped clean off. Seriously, you will not want for seconds here!
I was very impressed with this place we had the pizza and loved it if You are looking for a cheap good meal then stop by you wont be sorry you did

Bert’s Hometown Grill

1004 Tellico St S
Madisonville, 37354
Reviews:
This cafe is not the best, its substance. The food taste like its frozen and out of a box from Sam's Club. The waitress kept pushing their pizza on us. Wasn't there for pizza. If i wanted pizza i would have ordered it at home. I would not recommend this place for a sit down dinner. They do have a descent salad bar. That's it.
I want to like Bert's more and maybe compared to the fast food restaurants in town it's good, but I find the food here is mediocre at best. My family likes to go here, probably because there aren't many places in the area and it's nice to have some variation now and then. This time I tried the Chipotle Chicken sandwich. It was without much flavor and the fried chicken pieces were mostly breading - like 60-70% breading. That wasn't a $9 sandwich in my book. The grilled chicken sandwich at McD's across the street for $6 is much better. If you think this food is good, please do yourself a favor and visit other restaurants away from Madisonville. But this place is always packed. I'm disappointed my friends and neighbors spend $12 a person here for lunch for low quality food.
Like several of the disappointed people on here I expected better from the packed parking lot every time I come by. Had the lasagna. Well let me take that back. I tried to have the lasagna. After it was ice cold in the middle the first time I sent it back and was still cold the second. Time. Told them no thinks. They kindly took it off my ticket. And yea that was sarcasm. I should have know when the spaghetti and meat sauce had a description of. "Thin strips of pasta". I think most people know what spaghetti is. Had added the salad bar which is sub par itself. So far the best food we have eaten was banana pudding from a BBQ place in Marysville Tn. And a Mexican place called Monte Real in Tellico Plains.
