Passed through Knoxville on a road trip and couldn't be happier about finding this bar. Arrived around 10 on a Thursday night and by the time we (sadly) left around 1 the place was full. Great drinks and friendly service. Mixed crowd who loved to dance. All this housed in an old Victorian with plenty of room to tuck away or be social. Great back patio with outdoor bar. We wanted to stay til close but an early call time for the next day cut our visit short. Gives us a reason to return to Knoxville!

If you're not hammered by the second drink you are either a sumo wrestler or a liver transplant candidate. And after a couple of drinks the food is the best you've ever eaten. The fries are amazing!!!! 2013 #189 / 365

There was a dance remix of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams." It was like Diane Keaton and I started a club. America's highest compliment.

Some parties in this multilevel historic victorian are crazy. The drinks are strong and cheap. The people are open, out of the closet, or straight. It makes for strange times in the bathroom. The DJ leaves something to be desired. I still don't understand why the Back Street Boys would ever come on in a popular club. It's not the 90's, Ktown. Starting to hear some other repeats on the DJ's playlist that are becoming annoying. It's something to make fun of... to get to talk to the new person next to you. They're only open Thurs. - Sat, with Thursdays and Saturdays are for dancing. Friday is the comedy show, but I haven't caught that yet. Mostly because I wind up staying home recuperating from Thursdays here sometimes. If you don't know when to go (because it seems to be the secret about town as to when it will be busy) just pop your head in and see what's up before heading downtown. The patio is open for the summer, and it has it's own bar and cute secluded brick garden. Great sporting spot for private conversation in a crowded club. The food is only getting MORE of my attention as I become more of a regular, because it's solid. Bring some cash so you don't have to worry about having to order at the appropriate bar/kitchen. The computers are NOT connected here folks. Your tab stays with the bar you leave it at! 2.75 a tall boy PBR, and strong drinks and pours. A word of advice for straight, homophobic folks. Stay home unless you want to be educated. Men making out with men. Men who are women. Women who are men. People making out on the dance floor to the point that they're rounding third base. If it's weird, queer, it's here. But really, there's punks hanging out with hip-hop kids, and blonde babes on the dance floor, and goth kids grinding right next to them. It's a diverse as a high school with all the repressed sexuality released, and everyone is getting along... But let me leave you with a piece of real advice, it's still Knoxville, watch out for people who haven't joined the party yet.

Friday night comedy night. I checked this place out with a group of Yelpers while in town to check out one specific act, one of our very own Elites. Solid performance, my friend. This place is certainly unique. It's a house turned into a bar. Upstairs was where we hung out. Hard to believe there is still a place that allows smoking. A few of the folks in our group complained about the alcohol drink quality. There were a few good stand up acts and several that were way off base (the hosts being one of them).

Since Sidesplitters went out been looking for really cool place for comedy, thanks to John he found it and invited us......comedy night here is Awesome. The upstairs has a bar and thats where the comedy is located. They DO allow smoking. Very funny locals...if you want good comedy. Come here on friday nights @ 9:00pm to 10:30pm The only thing I wish they would change is to make it non smoking...

This is an interesting location, not what you expect to find nor where you expect to find it. Located near an overpass at 4th and Gill, this place is an old house converted into a bar. There are three floors, kitchen, small bar and TV on first level, another bar and stage/dance area on second, not exactly certain what's on the third floor. I come here for the open mic comedy on Friday nights at 9 pm to 10:30, very solid lineup of local comics and there's no cover charge or two drink minimum to fret about. I'll be back soon!

I guess it really depends on what you are looking for....our group was told to check this place out as it was the "hot spot" for the Knoxville scene. Sooo after walking 15 minutes away from where everyone else seemed to be going, we ended up at this place that was in the middle of a neighborhood and pretty far removed from all the other bars and....people. Thursday night and the place was pretty dead. Sure, it was fun to be able to drink $3 PBR Tall Boys and talk with my buddies...but there were few folks dancing and little activity in general. And you have to order food from a place that isn't attached to the bar...kinda weird.

When I found Sassy Anns for the first time, I didn't know what to expect. A friend had been to it years before and said it was pretty good, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. When we arrived, we thought it was pretty unique to just be an old Victorian-style house in a neighborhood. The layout is pretty nice as well. If I need a few more drinks before I bust out the dance moves, I'll go up and people watch on the upper deck until I have enough liquid courage to go to the dance floor. If you just want to chat or play pool, there is space on the bottom floor. PBR tall boys for $2 every Thursday and Saturday. Can't beat that. I find myself comparing every bar or dance club I go into now to Sassy's. I've lived in Seattle for 2 years now and nothing even comes close. Every time I go back home, Sassy Ann's in a must!

Sassy's is a testament to what bars should be. Seriously~ It's better than any Los Angeles Bar! If I had the money I'd buy the place. Same staff for years, means the employees are happy= happy patrons! 3 story Victorian, converted into a great party spot~ it's a house party / bar! Thursday nights: 80's night / $2 PBR ice cold Tall Boys - No Cover Thanks for the memories Steph!

This place used to be awesome but now its just overrun with frat guys. Also, the huge cloud of smoke that is in this small wooden Victorian house is overwhelming. I get that smokers are big business for a bar, but with lack of fans, AC, windows it turns into a giant ashtray. If you have asthma or are not ok with smoke, stay away. I miss this place when it used to be a bunch of hippies and college kids dancing to Madonna and Journey but as the popularity (and the long lines waiting to get in) grew, the fun went away. Oh well.

A Thursday night at Sassy Ann's leads to the Stupids on Friday as the PBR and my particular favorite redbull and vodka seeps out of your skin. So yes of course Sassys gets five stars. Go there. Drink. Dance. Love Knoxville. There are a few people seem to think Sassys has been too busy or too mainstream of late and I would say to them "Hey asshole, I hope you get crushed on the dance floor." Yes its crowded and you are surrounded by sweaty drunk people, but that's what makes it great.

I LOVE to go dancing at sassy ann's. I recently went dancing in Asheville for eighties night at Broadways, and it reminded me of sassy ann's, but not as fun. The atmosphere at sassy's is intimate...small-ish but open-an upstairs for people to gawk from. The whole place looks like a western saloon. They make good margaritas...i think they use purple sugar or something. Anyway dance night starts late but is a mixed crowd-gay, straight, and inbetween. They also have a lot of bands that you don't find playing at other places around town. (only because they're perhaps less mainstream) I'm always suprised to meet someone who hasn't been to Sassy's. But it's not uncommon. It is a little hard to find, but that filters out the campus crowd.

I've been to Sassy's on several occasions and mostly I've had a good time. Love that it's in the 4th and Gill neighborhood....can't imagine living next to this place. It's a huge old Victorian home with three floors to party on...well until last night. They've closed the third floor due to a fire-code. Booooo!!!! I loved the third floor. It has several little nooks for getting away from the crowd for some drunken conversation which I love! Also there's a balcony that overlooks the dance floor so people watching is perfect. But like I sad no mas. The crowd which usually feels very diverse and hip was sadly frat and I felt like we were on the strip. Also the music which is usually cool and fun....was also lame. I dunno what happened but in a town where fun dance clubs are few and far between, give Sassy's a try and see what the night shapes up to be. I may have just hit it on a bad night. But damn that fire-code! Cheers to a Sassy's night!!
