Ordered a chicken sandwich at the bar at 3 pm. It took over 20 minutes to get it. Bartender never said anything. Had to ask somebody else to check on it. Sandwich was kind of cold. Horrible service. I won't be back.

I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that every time I pass by here the parking lot is full. This place sucks. Their food is served luke warm and it's just not good that's all there is to it. And the wait staff seem to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The only good thing I can think to say about it is it's cheap. You can easily walk out full for just $10. But then again, you get what you pay for.

We moved to East Tennessee about 18 months ago and we had seen Cheddars, but never tried it until today. Let's just say we've missed out on 18 months' worth of good food, good atmosphere, good serving and good times! The interior atmosphere is very upscale with attention to detail. I loved the huge aquarium in the sunroom dining area. Our server was Tyler S. and he was an absolute server. He was knowledgable, courteous, helpful, attentive and engaging. He listened to our desires, made suggestions and then served us as if we were his only customers of the day (and the restaurant was packed). The food was extremely tasty and value for dollar spent was amazing. Our entire bill for two lunches, plus a take-out dinner for latter tonight was under $40. We have a Cheddars that is closer to us, but because of Tyler S., we would be willing to drive the 15 extra miles just to have him as our server. Thank you Tyler S. Thank you Cheddars!

Totally sucked, got there after 6:30pm, got seated quickly and then it began, sat for over 10 minutes, 50 employees walked by not one stopped to say someone would be right with us or to at least take our drink orders. 2 adults, 3 young kids 4-7. No patience for a 3hr meal, hard enough to wrangle the little in the best of conditions. Horrible experience! No idea what their food would taste like since we walked out - after complaining to the manager.

Had great service as always. It was busy, as most Saturdays are, but we were seated in less than 30 minutes. We had a group of 5, and everyone ordered something different. All the plates were piled high, and everyone had leftovers to take home. I recommend the onion rings as an appetizer, and the broccoli cheese casserole as a side!!

I found myself on an adventure with time to kill for a change. I had an early lunch and hit up what seemed to be the only restaurant in the area?? This Cheddars is kind of in the middle of nowhere, its on the north side of the interstate. I don't frequent Knoxville so I can't tell you if that's very accurate. I've never been to a Cheddars. Seen them everywhere but I've never stopped in. So I ordred the chicken fingers and fries. I wanted to try the cole slaw but the waitress insisted I had to pay for an extra side, which was something absurd in price. (I can't remember now, but it was like $4 if I recall correctly.) I'm a bit of a cole slaw snob, so I tend to be cautious, but I like to try it! So no cole slaw it was. Now first of all this particular location was busy as all get out for like.. 11AM. I had to wait about 10 minutes and I was eating alone. Eventually they sat me down at the cadillac fleetwood of booths. After getting lost in the giant booth twice, I eventually found my menu. Now what I ordered was the smallest chicken strips. In fact I think it may have been the appetizer. But what I got.. felt like an entire chicken farm on a plate. HUGE piles of chicken, stacked to the ceiling! (ok not really but it was like 4 or 5 giant chicken fingers.) a giant bowl of honey mustard, and some fries. An overflowing plate! I was so glad I didn't order the dinner portion! Or pay for that extra side! So after 20-30 minutes I'm groaning with a full belly and my plate looks barely touched. I left feeling STUFFED. I left so much food behind the waitress asked me if I wanted a to go box. When I said no, she raised an eyebrow and said "you sure?" I had to drive back home, so no I didn't want chicken smelling in my car for 3 hours. If you live in this area or somehow find yourself on Clinton hwy and DONT live in this area, OR if you like eating a metric ton of chicken for lunch, drop in! You more than likely won't be disappointed. Oh right.. "if its so good why only 3 stars buddy?!" Well.. ok so this is because I'm weird alright? Chickens this large my father and I refer to as "fat chickens.' They are difficult to cut up and get to the meat with. The waitress only came by once, I ran out of tea, the food was a bit pricey, the restaurant was crowded and waitors constantly buzzed by the booth since it was near the kitchen, and I shouldn't have had to pay like $4 to try the cole slaw. So there ya go. :) Give it a try!

We are here visiting from Ohio and stopped in to the local Auto Zone to get somethings. Asked them where a good place would be to get a bit and they said CHEDDARS! Never heard of them so we gave it a try. Excellent Service, Excellent Food, Very Affordable. Something for everyone! This place should be marked as 5+ stars and more chains opened up nation wide. OPEN ONE IN DAYTON OHIO PLEASE!!!!. Thank you Cheddar Staff for a EXCELLANT meal.

Stopped in last night and was impressed with the outward appearance. Got there late, around 8:30PM and found the restaurant to be sparsely populated. Neat fan inside. The wait staff appeared to be in clean-up mode and headed for home soon. Drink order was taken, then the appetizer order. Appetizer was brought out, then the main meal order was taken. It took a while. The Ceasar salad was brought out - finally. Hamburger was brought out on a factory-made bun (sorry, that's the best description I can give). Some other waitress had it .... stopped by, and then said she made a mistake, taking it to the bar. She returned with the same burger a few minutes later, apologizing about the mix-up. Somewhere along the way, a second drink was delivered. Original waitress finally returned and dropped off the bill ... never even asked about desert. I still left a tip.

Great food! Service was a little slow. We were seated near the kitchen where we could hear every curse word coming out of the back. Thank goodness we didn't bring children with us! Overall a great meal and I would highly recommend the Maui Margarita to anyone!

Delightful atmosphere, delicious food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Didn't dine at Cheddar's for a long time because we thought it pricey and, from the outside, it didn't look like we'd want to pay higher prices (that's what some had told us) for an upscale coffee shop like it appeared to be. Cheddar's is more than a fancy coffee shop. Our growling tummies, the distance from home on the cold Spring day, and the inviting Cheddar's facade beckoned us to drive into the parking lot. We were promptly seated in a room with a view of an incredible fish tank and surrounded by leaded glass partitions, greenery and rotating palm fans. Lovely ambiance. Our helpful and friendly server, Tyler, recommended his favorites on the menu, attentively brought us diet Cokes and patiently waited for us to peruse the menu and choose our entrees. The honey ordered the philly steak sandwich with french fries, and I chose a new-menu item, a Napa chicken ciabatta sandwich with roasted tomato, avocado, cheese, spring mix greens and creamy sauce - and a side of cheesy broccoli. Everything arrived warm and tasty. We entered as skeptics and left as followers.

Very affordable and large portions. Food is good! Don't let the long lines fool you. They have lots of seating and the wait line goes quickly.

Every time my wife and I go here, we get the chicken tenders and Philly cheese steak. It's our little once-a-month treat. The food is always perfect. Hot, delicious, and pretty fast considering the crowds. The icing on the cake is always the impeccable service we get from any of the servers. This is the only place that we eat where we can throw a $15 tip on the table and feel good about it as we stroll our stuffed selves back to the truck. Highly recommended. Well worth the wait.

Cheddar's is really great. I've only been one time, and the food was delicious. The waiter was nice and I had a very good time. Unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for our food, and the place is always packed. So I don't go often. Still, would recommend.

Just had lunch with a friend at Cheddar's Casual Cafe. It was my first visit, and I came away well-impressed. This location is fairly new, and it's obvious that quite an investment was sunk into both the structure and the decor. A large fountain splashes outside at the corner. In the lounge, the usual barback is replaced with an enormous fishtank. In the center of the dining area, huge paddle fans swoop through an atrium. The overall decor is red brick and polished wood, comfy and welcoming without being stuffy. Casual, yes, but classy too. Cheddar's goes big in a lot of ways. The restaurant is big. I didn't inquire about the maximum occupancy, but it's a big place. Our party of two was given a booth, and it was a big booth, might seat six or eight. They're big on staff, too. If we'd had any need, there would have been someone in a white oxford shirt and an apron strolling by within three seconds. Both my friend and I noticed there seemed to be a surprising number of staff on hand. And yes, portions were also big. Big isn't always better, though. Happily, Cheddar's prices seemed quite reasonable. The place was bustling at the height of lunchtime, and we were given a buzzer by the friendly hostess, though we barely had time to sit down in the lounge before it went off. Our server was Kristy B., also quite friendly and gracious. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, my friend the 8-oz steak, and we both had sodas. The Shepherd's Pie ($7.49) was quite large, more than enough for a lunchtime portion. It was quite tasty. My friend prefers his steak ($9.99) well-done, so of course it was ruined, but that was his fault, not Cheddar's. They ruined it just as he requested. It was certainly 8 ounces or more, from the look of it. Kristy also was prompt with complimentary refills of our sodas. Despite Cheddar's size, there is ample parking. As the listing indicates, yes, there is outdoor seating, but it is quite scant, only 4 or 5 tables on a small patio overlooking the fountain. I'd recommend Cheddar's for most any visitors, save perhaps those seeking a quiet, intimate spot for a romantic rendez-vous. Even when full, it didn't seem 'noisy,' but it's simply too large to ever feel intimate.

Uh, well, hmm....... I hate to rain on my own Cheddar's parade, but I have to. My excitement at the opening of a new Cheddar's meant we ate there once a week until the third time. On my third visit I not only received a salad with a large fruit fly in it, but I also got a chicken sandwich with a short hair in it. Since I like Cheddar's and our waitress was beyond friendly, like in the top 5 of waitresses ever for me, I was just going to chalk it up to accidents and let it go. Problem is, the manager did not act remorseful whatsoever. I know that's petty to say, but he almost looked bored during his apology and made me feel oddly guilty for complaining as if I was wasting his time. A few days later, my boyfriend was still so bummed that he decided to email Cheddar's to say how disappointed he was that this happened at one of his favorite restaurants. They responded with an apology and promised to send a coupon for a free meal. (I believe the manager originally had comped my salad but not the whole meal) We never received the coupon, now about 6 weeks later. I sort of let the hair and fly go, but the manager and missing coupon soured me on Cheddar's for the time being and has a long-time Cheddar's fan (my bf) currently boycotting them. Still good food and service, for the most part though.

Are here last night. Had a large group of hungry teenage boys and their parents. Service was fabulous! Mike is a professional server and a model for others in the field! I enjoyed fish tacos and a Cesar salad. My son ate a delicious salmon. Enjoyed cheese fries as an app. All were well done for a chain restaurant and seemed worth the menu price. Given the size of the group, I was especially impressed to see most of the dishes arrive at the same time. Kudos to the fryer operator too. Fish in the tacos was fried to absolute perfection. Moist. Hot. Juicy. Hard to do! Nothing was gourmet but that's not what you expect from a joint like this. Well done, Cheddars! The loss of one star?... I'd question the hostess who sat a young family in our area. I mentioned we were a large group. There was definitely some louder moments. This family was certainly annoyed. A little bit of thought on that would have helped them have a better experience.

Terrible experience at Cheddars off of Merchants/Clinton Hwy. we usually enjoy Cheddars because of the affordability and decent food. However, today I ordered the key west chicken and shrimp and the broccoli was my side and it came out with MOLD on it. I asked to speak with the manager and she offered to replace the meal. Little did she know I had taken a picture of the meal before I found the mold to BRAG about the restaurant. She comes back out and serves me the SAME everything but the broccoli. I then asked her if this was a new entree or just new broccoli. She said it was all freshly made. I showed her the picture and told her the grill marks are exactly the same and a piece of pepper is on the same spot of the chicken. It was very obviously the same food. I even noticed that a shrimp that had made its way under the sauce container was STILL there! So, it was even on the same plate that the moldy broccoli was on. She basically stood there and flat out argued with me about it in front of 10 other people until I handed her the plate and said I wanted to leave. My husband didn't even get to finish his meal and we were charged for every dime of everything else except my entree. I'm in absolute disbelief that she handled things that way.

Went here for the first time Sunday with my mom for lunch. Truth be told, this place was solid all the way around. The server hooked my mom up on the lunch special, gave her two half clubs and a salad at no additional charge! I had the Monte Cristo and fries and they load you down, don't skimp on the meat at all. The place had a nice ambiance, playing some great jazz fusion when we walked in. This is basically a family oriented. Chain restaurant, but much better than Applebee's, TGIFs, Ruby Tuesday. Good place to go after church, not sure about a sports event. Prices were very reasonable for portions and quality, would certainly return to this place/chain in the future.

We used to go to the cheddars in Johnson City, TN for years and loved it. This location...well it's bittersweet. Waited like ten minutes while standing around with like 30-35 other waiting people only to observe that every section of the restaurant had 2-3 open tables or booths. I know that you do not want to overwhelm your servers but that was a poor balance. Aside from the wait the food is always great and fairly priced. Apps: We LOVE the spinach and artichoke dip. Salad: House salad is a good portion and dressings are good. The honey glazed croissants that come with the salad are usually good as well Dinner: The two items that we often get and would recommend for you is the chicken tenders or the fish tacos. Dessert: My recommendation would be the monster cookie dessert!

We have driven by this location numerous times and commented that they must either be popular or sell cars because the lot is never empty even mid-afternoon weekdays. Got there before 5P on a ordinary Sat. and had to wait 15 min. Didn't get anything unusual, kids had chicken/shrimp combo w/ fries that were all they could stuff in, the Hawaiian salad was decent, the rib/steak combo was good ribs and so-so steak. Everything came out together without a big wait and our server Haley put everything in the right place even though she probably had quite a few tables active. Noted their menu said all burgers cooked medium well so if you are a rare burger aficionado this is not your place. Good, efficient, satisfactory place without a memorable Wow! other than the portion sizes which we expected from the other reviews. Maybe a shade less expensive than Ruby Tuesday without coupons, but they don't advertise or seem to need to. If there was a salad bar I didn't notice, but we'll be back sometime.

"OK" only due to male waiter who was way too chatty.Food was great but waiter ruined our meal. Servers must learn customers are not interested in their love lives. Boundaries are important when dealing with the public.

I love this place! We had spinach dip, a salad with awesome homemade ranch, dijon chicken with a mound of mushrooms on it! Yum! Came with broccoli cheese casserole and mashed potatoes. Wish there was one closer to us! Our server Tiffany was great too!

My mother always told me to make my words tender in case I ever had to eat them. It's a good thing I learned that lesson, because in my last review of Cheddars I stated we would never go back. Bad memories do fade over time and last week my husband and I realized we were hungry just about six blocks before this Cheddars location. We had a quick discussion and decided to give it one more try. To say we were glad is an understatement! We both had wonderful meals, served quickly and pleasantly by a very attentive young waitress. My husband got a cup of the tortilla soup, which he devoured. For dinner he got a Hawaiian Chicken Salad- perhaps one of the biggest salads I have ever seen in my life. He loved it, ate until he could eat no more and there was still a lot left in the bowl. I'm a child of the south and I love southern classics, so I chose the Chicken and Waffles. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I do not know when I have ever had better chicken "tenders" anywhere. I put quotes around the word tenders because each piece was more the size of a small chicken breast, and there was six of them heaped on a light as air Belgian waffle. I was in southern girl heaven, especially since they also have superlative sweet tea. I am so very glad we went back, and we will definitely be back again!

If you're looking for ALOT of food at a very good price, then Cheddar's is the way to go. The portions are hard to conquer as are the prices. The wait staff is always pleasant and the speed of service is surprisingly quick given how packed it usually is. That does lead into the two knocks on Cheddar's - it is usually wall to walk people in there and the options for vegetarians and/or healthy diners are very limited. With that said, if you've never eaten here, it is a must. Just avoid Friday and Saturday nights unless u enjoy waiting

Awful food, I wouldn't recommend it. I went to this restaurant with 4 other ppl and only one person enjoyed their food, we had an appetizer which was not good and I couldn't even finish my meal. The only good thing was the service.

Cheddar's was better than I expected. I have heard some mixed reactions about Cheddar's, and was skeptical about the place, but the place was top notch. The food was moderately priced and came in good sized and some big portions. Our server was actually kind and engaged with her customers. The atmosphere was also cool and soothing. The wait was a bit of a bother, but not much to care. A place great for group get-togethers or to just lounge around.

For the price, I don't understand how the food is as good as it is. I was pleasantly surprised. The largest factor in my 5 star rating was the service. The hostesses seemed to have a little drama going on, but once we were seated it was superb. Kent was my server and he did a very professional job of service. His timing was great and his attitude was pleasant. Good service is a rarity these days. The building and decor were pleasant as well. Their croissant rolls are great and their sides are great too. The bill didn't lighten my wallet too much. It is really difficult to say anything bad about the place after my second visit. I will be visiting Cheddar's Casual Cafe again and I hope they keep up the good work and service.

We stopped at Cheddar's for lunch on Monday on our way home after celebrating our grandson's 2nd birthday in Kentucky. We had never heard of Cheddar's, but James at Harley Davidson of Knoxville recommended it to us when we stopped to look at the bikes there. The Monday lunch business was brisk, but we were seated promptly and greeted warmly by our server Mark. We had vowed to cut down on our portion sizes, so we ordered a Cheddar's "Classic" to share. We divided the mushroom covered chicken breast (two pieces) over rice with broccoli & cheese casserole and cole slaw. We also shared a wonderful dessert: a gigantic, warm chocolate chip cookie, a scoop of ice cream, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream. It was served in a wrought iron skillet! Mark was attentive, arriving at our table at just the right time to refill drinks and serve dessert. The decor was pleasant, the food delicious, and the prices were great. We'll return to Cheddar's the next time we are in Knoxville.

I love the food at Cheddar's but thier service is highly lacking. I've been to Cheddar's resuratmts in other areas and was super excited that there is now one here. The food is always amazing and the menu has so much to offer. Pretty much anyone can find something they want. Sadly thier service is Meh to Dear god please send me a server. Thier waitstaff is very inatentive. The last time we went we saw our server 3 times. Once for her to take our order, once to bring us drinks, and once to bring us our check moments after we had gotten our food. Another waitress refilled our drinks and brought our food out. We were never asked if our food was ok or if we wanted anything else and I was set to order dessert that day. Before the other waitress asked if we wanted refills I sat with an empty glass for around 15 minuets. The food is wonderful but be prepared not to really see a waitperson and/or having to go ask a hostess or bartender if you need something extra. P.S: They have this really neat fan system in the building however I've about frozen to death every time I've gone. If you chill easily bring a jacket!
