This is the first place I head to when I am anywhere near Knoxville, TN. When you Enter Mama Mia's, you feel like you have walked into a time capsule with their classic decor, straight forward menu, push button jukebox, and a monster of a pizza oven. Everything seems super fresh and I was told all the dough, sauces, sausage and even their cookies are done in house by this pint-sized fire cracker of German woman. She's been the owner and running the show since the early 70's according to their menu. You can't miss her when you walk in. The pies seems fairly euro style which is perfect because I like a crunchy crust without being too thin or thick. The most unique pizza is without a doubt their spicy Italian sausage and sauerkraut with onion (I would NOT get this to-go). It seemed a bit odd when I read it but it is a taste bud explosion. I truly love this joint and wish I was in area more to enjoy it. BTW This place is cash only. I asked the lady why she didn't take credit cards and she told me in an accent, "You want me to start charging my customers more for pizza?" I said it couldn't be that much more and she waved me off like I was crazy. Anyhow, it could be that she doesn't want to raise her prices or it could be this joint is REAL old School where cash and a hand shake are king. Either way, I dig it and hitting an ATM on the way in is no big deal.

Pizza was home style which is awesome and a much needed break from the chain places. I asked for two toppings (bacon and hot peppers, my favorite) and they had neither. No worries they proved me with banana peppers that they usually use on their subs and aren't on the menu. This place could really use a menu online but everything was great and home style.

Great pizza. Mama Mia's has been around since 1971. Fantastic sauce and crust. Try the sauerkraut and sausage pizza.

I travel constantly for work and use yelp all the time. I was recently in LA and the lady told me she loved yelp because they sent her out of towners like me. Made me realize I should share the love for some restaurants from my home town. I don't live in Kingston anymore but still drop by when I'm in town to see the folks. The food here is wonderful. It is owned by an older German lady named Lodi who makes all the dough and sandwich bread by hand. It is by far the best pizza in 30 miles and arguably the best pizza in east TN (obviously pizza is highly subjective). It is new York style but the sauce and bread make it. It really is fantastic! Also, don't sleep on the subs. They have a great Italian, just ask for an extra side of Italian dressing on the side. The homemade bread is great and it's a good sized sandwich. The beer is fairly cheap and it is just a good ole mom and pop. Cash only and 30 years out of date, but this is the reason most of you use yelp. Its the only place I tell out of town friends they really need to go.

The pizza is better than okay. I lived in Germany for a number of years, my wife is from there. This pizza is as authentic as it gets in the US for german pizza. The crust is thinner than typical american crust, and its a little crunchy as well. It doesn't fold over on you when you pick it up. You can't miss on the salads and sandwiches as well. The salads are HUGE and taste great. Its a meal in itself. They also have pizza by the slice at lunch, which is always very good. Lastly, if you're looking for some german conversation, Lotti is always excited to speak some broken german with me and my family. Its my broken german that is, not hers :)

The pizza is ok. If you don't want to drive to Knoxville this place is the best. If I'm in TN I'd rather go to Knoxville and get pizza from "I Love NY Pizza." that place is great.

It's good. Just good, not great. Very limited menu ... pizza, salad, & a few sandwiches. Decor is old & tired. According to my mom, it hasn't changed since she was in middle school ( she is 50 now)!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
