Waffle House is one of my favorite roadside stops for breakfast and lunch, open 24-7!! On my travels, I've stopped at many Waffle Houses located near highway exits including this Waffle House in Jasper, which is very popular with the truckers and travelers alike and offers good not fancy food at reasonable prices. The Texas Bacon Melts served with hash browns and the Buttermilk Waffles with butter & lots of syrup are pretty tasty! Currently in 2015, they offer Fifteen Meals For $5 Each (includes beverage), which is a pretty good deal on the wallet including 8 Breakfast and 7 Lunch/Dinner choices. While driving along I-24 heading from Chattanooga to Nashville, I stopped off at Exit 152 and pulled into Waffle House for lunch. I sat myself at the counter and the waitress with a charming Southern accent gave me a regular laminated menu and took my drink order. I asked for a Diet Coke and requested the Fifteen Meals For $5 Each Menu. For lunch, I decided on Grilled Cheese, Regular Bert's Chili and a Diet Coke for $5 plus tax. The food came out quickly served hot. The Grilled Cheese Sandwich was basic and good, the bread was buttered and grilled nicely on the outside with melted orange American cheese inside, cut into 2 triangles. The bowl of chili was hearty which had plenty of ground beef and beans, slightly on the salty side. Saltine crackers, dill pickle slices and mayo served on the side. The service here was very friendly and efficient. I was given refills on the ice cold Diet Coke and the waitress even offered me a to go cup filled with ice cold Diet Coke, which was a "nice gesture custom" (of Southern hospitality) unheard of back where I live in New England. I usually top off my own fountain soda cups at fast food restaurants. I definitely needed the ice cold Diet Coke for my drive to Nashville in the 88 degree summer heat.

Okay, I want to take a star off because of the country music, but I am sure that is a corporate decision. I have been in a fair number of Cracker Barrel locations, and this is the first one to prepare my eggs as ordered. I like my fried eggs over easy (or over light) and most cooks think they know better than I. The wait staff was efficient and friendly, the place was clean. The food great and if you leave CB hungry that is your fault, they have a menu item for everyone.
This was my first time visiting a cracker barrel. I was looking for a place to eat a decent breakfast. I tried the breakfast sampler with turkey sausage, country grilled ham, and bacon. It also allowed me to try their buttermilk biscuits, hash brown casserole, grits, and of course eggs (I know CB likes to make things from scratch, but I've still seen processed eggs at other diners and I'm sick of them, so I had to verify). CB definitely has a warmer feel than Denny's/Ihop. It's not surprising I've never seen one in the southwest considering it's southern cuisine. The eggs were definitely made fresh but they got to me a little cold. I realize the sampler breakfast requires many different parts of the plate to come together, but that could've been timed better. The turkey bacon and country grilled ham were just the right amount of salty/fatty for me, although I didn't care for the sausage much. For 10 bucks I sure got a good breakfast, I will return to try the steak and eggs.
On vacation with my dad, we decided to stop into this Cracker Barrel for some Southern comfort food. You can never go wrong with food at the Cracker Barrel. However, our service is what really stole the spotlight and the reason why I'm writing this review: Our server was Makayla, and although it was a busy Saturday morning - our waitress was extremely attentive. She made sure all our needs were met, constantly refilling our drinks and stopping by to make sure we were happy. Although, the restaurant was packed - we didn't feel rushed or hurried and we really enjoyed ourselves. If you're ever driving down the 24, near Kimball, TN be sure to stop into The Cracker Barrel - and if you're lucky enough, maybe Makayla will be your server! :)

I thought stopping here for some ice cream would be a good idea, but it was not...we ordered off the menu, but it turned out one of the items was not available. We had paid before they figured out the item wasn't available (we had been given the wrong change; I learned the item was not available by overhearing the conversation between staff members), and the staff acted like I was trying to cause problems once they did figure out that the item was not available. Then, instead of asking me what I wanted instead, they opened the cash drawer and dropped some money into my hand with no other comment (they failed to refund the sales tax). Then, more attitude when I ordered something different. Finally, even though we had already received the other half of our order, they proceeded to take the orders of the people in line behind us instead of finishing our order and letting us leave. I was glad my hubby was there to wait for the ice cream, because I had to leave the building or risk losing my temper.

I love Quiznos subs but I have had several bad experiences with this location. With out going into a lot of detail , I don't think management does a very good job.
