My grandmother and I came here to the other day for lunch. We got here a little past 2:30 still in time for the lunch specials. The place was pretty dead, and our server was about the same..... Mummer (my grandmother) ordered the steak fajita special which turned out to be a lot of food! One plate with rice, fried rice, lettuce and sour cream, then a second plate of the steak fajitas with bell peppers, onions and a side of tortillas. She ate all of it! A lot of food for an 82 year old. She consumed all of it without a flinch. I ordered a steak quesadilla with fried rice and refried beans plus a margarita. All good hence why this is 3 stars. Now the reason why this is not a high rating -- service was awful. We waited 20 minutes to have a refill, and another 15 minutes after that before we receieved our food. Turns out our server decided to go on break without letting us know nor did he take the time to let another server know to come take care of us. What the heck!? I was furious and complaining to my grandmother about it, but she was just letting it roll off her back. She is a wise woman and doesn't sweat the small stuff.... I haven't gained that wisdom yet. Bottom line -- crappy service, cheap reasonably decent food. Think about it.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Jackson. They offer a nice size variety on the menu and the food is always good. One of my fav dishes is the Botana Grande. It's nachos, taquitos & and quesadilla. I have never had a bad experience here and I'm sure I've been over 20 times.

Great place to stop on a long trip. Great food and friendly service. Also the parking lot is big enough for cargo and horse trailers.

As a native Californian and someone who grew up in the home of the Mission style burrito, I was saddened when I moved to Jackson. They have this white cheese sauce they refer to as "queso". If you have ever gone to Moe's chain you know what I am talking about. Such a shame, people here go crazy for it but it is to Mexican food as fortune cookies are to authentic Chinese cuisine. The worst part is that they feel hamburger meat is acceptable as a meat "filler" for their food. A rolled flour tortilla around a scoop of hamburger and covered in white cheese sauce is anything but muy authentico! This may be appealing to the palates of people around here or to say those from Arizona, but any place that has any sort of established Hispanic community, this will be like taco bell.

Stopped late after traveling through from East Tennessee. Chips were a little tough but salsa was great. Chicken fajitas were very good with perfect ratio of chicken to onions and peppers. Folks had the nachos and they were very good but a little skimpy on the cheese. We had some communication difficulty with the waiter but overall a very pleasant stop.

by far the best mexican restaurant in Jackson (to me) Los Portales also gets quite a bit of business, but it's more "americanized" to me than Don Panchos. Try the Chimi or Tacos Don Pancho.

I love Don Pancho. It's been my favorite Mexican restaurant since it opened a few years ago. I live in Memphis now, but DP is still my favorite. If you want good Mexican food, this is where you go.

One of my two favorite Mexican restaurants in the area (La Carreta in Medina is my other). Don has excellent food, large portions, great prices and fast friendly service. We eat their regularly.

Great food! The shrimp tacos were nicely spiced, the mole tasted homemade, and the taco salad was with steak fajitas. Fast friendly service.

Really not a huge fan of Mexican food, but this place has good food compared to the other local Mexican places. They have good drink specials and you get a lot of food for the price. The chips were stale and the salsa wasn't anything special, but the food was good and the service was pretty quick. I will eat here again.

We'd been thinking of trying this place for a while and finally stopped in for dinner. Our order was to-go so I don't have much input about the service other than it was average. I ordered a fajita burrito and he ate the extra large burrito they offer. We shared a large side of rice and the dessert sopapilla. Chicken fajita burrito: the meat was rubbery and the flavor wasn't on par with the 4 and 5 star reviews. The veggies were grilled nicely. Large chicken burrito: he says it was ok, and that he would give them another try. Rice: tasty and the best thing on my plate. Cooked to perfection, nice flavor, and moist. Sopapilla: I like both the crispy version, and the pastry version. This place has the crispy version and it was executed perfectly. Slightly warm, drizzled sweet honey, a few dashes of cinnamon, and two scoops of vanilla ice cream. I would recommend that you end your meal with a fresh sopapilla.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
