Los Primos

Reviews:
Great food, had fajitas texanas, waiter was not very attentive, sizzling fajitas came and had to ask several minutes later for my set up plate. Food was hot, portion was over the top and tasty
Los Primos needs more reviews, so here's another. If my wife was the one reviewing, you'd see 6 stars up here, because she says it is the greatest Mexican food she's ever had, and she says it with no exaggeration. She ordered a steak that was just out of this world, and the refried beans were the best we've ever had (yes, apparently there are different ways to make refried beans, I was surprised too). My beef tips were also pretty delicious, although I was disappointed that they didn't come with rice and beans. I don't know what it is about east-coast Mexican food that seems to make bean dip and a salsa bar mandatory, but I'm starting to get used to it.
We never miss this restaurant when traveling east on I 40 from Nashville. Fresh, fresh, fresh! Even the salsa, which is superb. Break away from beef/pork. Try their fish tacos, shrimp quesadilla or shrimp chimichanga. The service efficient and friendly. The restaurant is clean and attractive. Easy access from and to I 40.

Gondolier

Reviews:
This place is wonderful- from the appetizer to the main course all delicious! Four of us went for dinner and we all enjoyed everything. Big portions, great flavor and friendly service. Will be back again when in town. Italian Cream Cake going home with me for later.
Living in Harriman for years, there's not a more overrated restaurant than Gondolier in the area.( Mainly because all of the high schoolers go here after school, before games, after games, etc.) You usually get great service and can end up not spending your entire wallet here, but the food is just alright for the mid-high prices they charge. You get served free breadsticks and marinara which are both actually good. But the main entrees are hit or miss. The pizza is usually a safe go to along with the Caesar salad if you are into that. Most of the dinners are served drenched in some type of designated sauce though and sometimes should be called soup instead of pasta. The one thing this place has that others don't is their extensive cake list which get delivered from a bakery about an hour down the road. The white chocolate raspberry is to die for!
For a bit of local flavor, it's hard to get a more distinct Harriman vibe than at Gondolier. I get the sense this is probably the go-to hangout around here. There is a lot of charm, but Jesus, methinks frequent visits here would put me in an early grave. I came in here craving pasta, but I didn't want something too heavy. So, although the Chicken Alfredo sounded very tempting, I thought I would stay lighter with the Chicken Linguine, which was supposed to come a "dash" of wine & lemon sauce. Well, you can imagine my surprise when I was served what appeared to be a giant bowl of chicken noodle soup. This was no "dash"; this was presumably 3 sticks of melted butter with olive oil and white wine. I will admit I had a panicked moment at this point, wondering if I should have just played it safe with a calzone. Fortunately, it was quite tasty (hard to go wrong with aforementioned three sticks of butter)...but it was certainly no lighter than the alfredo option would have been. Some pluses, though...its cheap, and some of the waitresses are charming (although I was mildly shirked by the woman at the cash register). There are certainly worse options for an I-40 stopover.

Bojangles

Reviews:
When driving east through Tennessee this location seems to designate the beginning of Bojangles Country. West of here they are sparse. East of here, they are everywhere. This location does a solid job doing what Bojangles does best: offering good fast food, for a cheap price, and displaying friendly service. In fact, we walked in the door on a week night at 9:55 (closes at 10) and they let us in and cooked fresh fries and chicken supremes for us because they wanted us to enjoy our experience. This is a fairly new location, but mixes the same legendary sweet tea and those non-greasy, white meat chicken tenders. There's few better fast food (and I stress fast food) options available. Honestly, I'm not sure how anyone could ever eat McDonald's, etc, after going to Bojangles. This is a newer location, remains clean and turns around orders quickly. If you're driving through town it's worth a stop, if fast food is your thing.

Shoney’s

1809 S Roane St
Harriman, 37748
Reviews:
Stopped here with a group of 10 after an 8 hour trip from WV. Last year we stopped at nearby Cracker Barrel which has a better menu and ambiance, but we got the feeling that they waited for our group to arrive before arranging the seating we had asked for and reserved in advance, because it was about 20 minutes before we were seated. At Shoney's, we were seated immediately in the back section, designed for small groups. We had the Easter Dinner Buffet. Salad bar is basic. They have a few of the usual vegetable and potato offerings. The ham looked dried out and unappetizing. The shrimp was dry. The catfish was actually VERY GOOD, and I went back for seconds. Even though I suspect most of their offerings are prepared offsite and warmed up or fried on site, the catfish apparently was moving quickly, because my fillets were hot out of the fryer. Overall, I am not looking for Shoney's for that special dining experience, and this visit once again reaffirmed why I feel that way.

The absolutely worst McDonald's i have ever been to. The fries were not hot the hamburger was overcooked and stale. I would avoid at all cost. I wanted a quarter pounder with cheese and was totally disappointed.
