Food poor. Service fair. Place is old, dark and dirty.. hence why its dark... Had fried shrimp way way to much batter. little shrimp large batter. I think a overhaul of the entire place would do it some good. Don't Go.

We decided to visit Mister B's again and try new dishes instead of a usual dozen of deep fried oysters. Red Fish Almondine turned out to be an excellent dish. Flaky white fish was fresh. It tasted naturally sweet. There were amazing big oysters and delicious soft stuffed soft shell crab in Deep Fried Platter.

Today was my first lunch experience at Mr. B's.-- my honey took me to this amazing Southern style place and we dined on pork-chops, potatoes, green beans, collard greens cabbages& tilapia I definitely recommend this place for lunch and dinner especially if you love Southern style cooking Amen

Not what I expected for the price. We enjoyed the filet, fried green tomatoes and cole slaw- all were fresh. The shrimp was flaccid and fishy. Why a restaurant serving $30-40 steaks would serve canned green beans and no bread, but wrapped crackers is mystifying. Friday night was sparce- no reservations necessary... now I know why.

Good, solid option. Went there for lunch, at the recommendation of a local client. Unlike some of the other comments, I found the service to be good. Our waitress was very nice. Food is good, and filling. Environment is conducive for talking with people. I went with the pork chop - and it was very thick. The chicken breast and gumbo was had by another in our group, and that looked good, too; as did the meatloaf.

Always eat at the bar, always order the rib eye, 2 salads, a sweet potato and a regular potato. My husband and I split the steak between us as it is so big. The bar staff is great. Raw oysters are great for an appetizer. I have tried the other items on the menu and enjoy the soft shelled crab but we really prefer their steaks overall.

We were there with a party of 18 on a Friday night. Everyone was complimentary of the food. For several it was their first time here. I had oysters on the half shell for an appetizer and they were excellent. Plump, tasty and too big for the crackers. Also sampled my friends fried frog legs and may have to get them next time I'm here. My porterhouse was cooked perfectly and I got some étouffée to top it with. Only problem was the steak was more than I could eat. Mister B's is just like an old steakhouse ie dark interior and nothing fancy but the food is very good and the service is outstanding.

My husband and I just returned from our last trip to Mr. B's. I can't decide if the food was worse than the service, or the service was worse than the food. They were BOTH bad! We were there for an hour and a half before we were served our entrees. The waitress took our order, then went to the table next to us and got their orders. They were finished eating by the time we got ours. They weren't the only table that were served before us. I ordered the 17.50 Celestial Chicken. I had visions of the old Luau Celestial Chicken. Well, it was NOTHING like it! Part of my "chicken" that they breaded was not much thicker than paper! It was totally tasteless, the sauce was thick and barely lukewarm. My husband ordered an oyster poboy. It was average at best, but we had to share that because the chicken was so bad. I asked for the Manager. The waitress never sent the Manager over. I finally went to "find" a manager. The "floor manager". ( the real manager wasn't even there) tried to blame it on the kitchen. I told her that the waitress didn't even apologize after bringing a lukewarm dish to our table after an hour and a half! We will NEVER go back!

I'd like to like Mr. B's. Its in my neighborhood and the wait staff is so friendly and eager to please. But I've been served some terrifically bad food here on enough occasions to know it's more of the rule than the exception. Gumbo with a burned reaux and little to no seafood; fried seafood that was overcooked to the point of being inedible; overcooked or undercooked fish. I honestly can't recommend a single item on the menu. I like to support local, independent restaurants. I just can't support Mr. B's based on my experiences.

Mister B's wasn't what i expected it to be. I was imagining a New York style steakhouse, and even changed my work clothes to something more dressy. (I guess I should have checked yelp.) My husband and I walked in for dinner at 7:00 on a Friday night only to find that we were probably the youngest customers there by at least 30 years--and the decor/ambiance reflected it. It's not necessarily my type of restaurant, but the servers were friendly and the drinks were cheap. The menu itself was pretty simple and unpretentious--southern/cajun cooking. And the quality was good. I had the stuffed devil crab with baked sweet potato and my husband had the chopped steak with wild rice and hush puppies. Our favorite was the crawfish etouffe which we got as a soup/starter. However, were the entrees worth $16-$20? Definitely not.

I've heard good things about Mister B's but my experience here left me unimpressed. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium) which is always a plus. Everything else was mediocre at best. All entrees come with two sides. If you want a salad they will not allow you to substitute a salad for one of the sides even though the salad and the sides are the same price on the menu. I thought this was rather annoying. I ended up ordering the green beans, a sweet potato, and a salad with blue cheese dressing. The green beans were nothing special. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and ONE cherry tomato. The "blue cheese" dressing was not the creamy dressing I'm use to eating. It was Italian dressing with blue cheese crumbles. I gave the sweet potato to my date since I didn't want it anyway. On the positive side the steak was good and our server was very nice. Overall, I don't think I'll be giving Mister B's a second run.

Stopped by Mister B's with a friend to fill up on 50 cent oysters, a special available all day Monday and Wednesday. The oysters were nicely chilled, small to medium size and very tasty. They weren't the best I've had in Memphis but the price was right. I then ordered the soft shell crab which was very good. The crab easily too up half the plate, served with fries and green beans. Overall, a pretty nice meal at a very reasonable price.

$11.99 for a meat & 2 for lunch is too much. That being said, the hamburger steak was excellent. The brocolli & cheese caserole was undercooked, many bites of brocolli stems had to be put back on plate, stringy and hard. Blackeyed peas were good. Service was excellent.

Been coming here for years and enjoyed their food & atmosphere. However, last few visits in past months have been nothing but disappointments. Food has been lacking it's quality and pair it with a non-caring service staff, game over. Just had a business lunch here today and instead of "Country Fried Steak," I'm eating a chop steak plate. Server said I was wrong and they do their Country Fried Steak differently. I've been lived in the South over 20+ years and I know my Southern cuisine. She tried to make it fair by charging a half price, but it was the last straw. Leaving this place with an insult is not a good business for anyone.

Mister B's has been in business for over 20 years in the Memphis area. They started out in a dive out near the airport, but have been in the East Memphis location for a while now. The food is pretty good, but a few things on the menu are actually really great. Unfortunately, most of isn't exactly healthy. Like the Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Pickles and the Catfish and Hushpuppies. They specialize in Cajun dishes like Red Beans and Rice and Crawfish Etouffe, and their steaks are good as well. The prices are average - most entrees are under $20.

Had never been here before, but came because we had a coupon. Very relaxing, clubby atmosphere. Great service and the food was delicious. I had the Creole Snapper and my husband had the fried shrimp. We also had the fried dill pickles as an appetizer, which did not disappoint. We will definitely go back; excellent food and a chill ambiance.

I have liked this place over the years, but my last trip was disappointing. The food was not up to par - maybe it was a bad day. I'll give it another try.
