Went in today Friday 5/22 @5:30. The parking lot was surprisingly half full. We had been told great things about this place but experienced problems last year on a busy Sunday with a rude server and we left. Figured we would give it another try. This time the server and the cook were yelling at each other. We had waited over five minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant and were tired being ignored. We went down the road to Cherokee and had a great meal as always. Sorry Monells, no more chances from us!

We were let down on our visit, we had an idea of what to expect based on visits to Monells in Nashville, but the service was simply lacking and it was not a warm welcoming experience at all. Someone may have just had a bad day but I won't be giving this place another chance.

I love that you can go in and sit down in a home style environment. Being able to have a good home county cooked meal and meet new people who enjoy the company and the meal too!

Loved the all you can eat family style breakfast. This a true southern breakfast was cheese grits, country ham, fried chicken, eggs, biscuits and gravy. The list goes on. So much to eat. Recommend this restaurant to all. Service was great.

Our family dined here while on vacation near Gallatin last week. We all chose the "family style" experience, and it was great. We would highly recommend Monells to locals and travelers for dining in southern comfort food at its best!

Not gluten friendly. Be sure to call ahead before assuming that the menu online is really what they are offering. We went because it said that pulled pork was one of the meats of the day, but when we got there (and after we had started eating) we realized that everything was fried or had bread in it (especially the meat dishes). And it took at least 10 minutes before we could get the waitresses attention to ask questions about ingredients. Not a good experience.

Love this restaurant. It is a great place to take out of town guests to show them what southern cooking is like. Everyone we bring here walks away amazed. That being said I wish they were open during the week.

Monell's is a Nashville landmark, and we are truly blessed to have a location in Gallatin. Owner Michael King makes a point to beautifully restore old homes for his restaurants . The Fitzgerald Manor is no exception. This is a perfect place to take out of town guests for a special treat of real Southern fare passed around home style. Currently, they are just open Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Check their website for details. I encourage more Sumner Countians to support this restaurant off South Water Avenue instead of the mediocre chain restaurants on Gallatin Road/Main Street.

I have never eaten at Monell's for breakfast and I can't wait to try it. I have eaten at this location and once gotten to go at the Murfreesboro Pike location. This time, we ordered the all you can eat lunch on a Sunday. It was enough for three to four people! It was sooo good but unfortunately we ate too much. Oh my goodness. My husband is from the north and he loved the southern classic food here. The fried chicken is the best, as well as the cornbread. The only downfall is the food you can't eat is wasted. I wish we could have taken leftovers, but those are the rules for 'all you can eat'! We will have to order off the menu next time so we don't over eat again and head up on a Saturday for breakfast, yum.

I'm not familiar with southern comfort food, so I don't know if the meal I had at Monells was typical or not, but it was certainly delicious. It was also a gut buster. My group of three went for lunch and ordered our meal family style not knowing that there was a cheaper cafe option. For 12.95 each, we were treated to the following generously portioned dishes: pot roast, fried chicken, pork loin, cole slaw, cucumber salad, broccoli salad, cornbread and biscuits, peach preserves, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, green beans, turnip greens, and pecan pie. Pitchers of sweet tea, tea, and lemonade were on the table. It was a lot of food, but it seemed fresh, flavorful, and not overly oily (for southern food). Our waitress was neither friendly nor curt. I'll definitely go back, but I think I need to fast for a few days first.
