Another favorite stop for this trucker. Foods always good and the service great. The buffet is really good too but I normally get the half rack of ribs from the menu. I love them served wet with the sweetheat sauce. Just getting out of your truck can get your mouth watering. The smell of the meat being bbq is awesome. The restaurant is a feast for the eyes. License plates from all over are displayed on the walls along with other nostalgic items. Also the store sells Aunt Mae's Roasted Peanuts which are a delicious snack for the road. I never miss a chance to eat here.

I didn't get to eat here, it was just a "pit-stop". But the restroom was probably the cleanest one I've been in! It looked new. And the coffee is good too!

My order took long time. I order two egg omelet with small bowl oatmeal guess how much??? $11.83. Food was oily no brown sugar with oatmeal?? First restaurant ever seen on the road cross america.

Prices are good - for a reason. This BBQ is dry and putting famous Tennessee BBQ to shame. Go elsewhere if your heart is set on a good meal. It's not terrible, if you cover your meat in sauce. But I'm from Texas and I know good smoked meats. And this stop does not. The pulled pork was so dry and bland. On soggy buns! Ugh. The smoked chicken was oddly bland too - it's smoked! So not returning. Go elsewhere for a full meal!

I stopped there twice to eat once I got smoked sausage, I really couldn't tell the difference between it and one I'd buy at Krogers. This time I got pork chops and they were great, a nice char but super juicy and flavorful, I'm guessing they had been brined. Both times I got fries as a side and both times they seem just on the edge of under done. Service both times was friendly and attentive. Now they have a little deli section in the store where I got some slab bacon and smoked baloney to go, both were great. If you haven't had smoked baloney you have had missed some southern goodness that is getting hard to find, but is worth the effort. On another review a guy talked about people watching, today I just happened to see a fella with a tattoo covering the bald spot on the back of his head, just about the dumbest thing I've seen in a while and got me to giggling so bad. Anyhow worth a stop for the bacon and baloney anyhow, wouldn't pick it for a wedding reception but beats the hell out of McDonald's.

As we traveled down I-65 with two small children...four hours into a long drive without stopping...and all we thought was ahead of us was desperate meal at McDonalds. At last we came upon this oasis to rescue us from fast food hell. The catfish buffet was amply stuffed with all the country sides you could want and even ice cream for desert! The fried chicken salad my wife has was delicious as were my daughter's chicken fingers. As for the youngest...she couldn't have been happier with her baked sweet potato. The service was fantastic & couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. Def try this spot...I hear Pop's BBQ is worth trying next time.

On Tuesday, Feb 3rd, Dale Tony Vanoy, Noël Lori-Elizabeth Teel and I went for a drive. We were on our way to Florence, Al but got side tracked. We ended up getting off the I-65 exit 22. We stopped at "The Tennessean Truck Stop". We went through the large gift shop and store area and made our way back to the Restaurant area. It was really large and decorated with signs and licenses plates from all over the USA..sort of typical Truck Stop décor and feel. The waitress asked us to grab a seat anywhere so we chose the first table for four. She came over immediately with menus and extra napkins with silverware..Hi guys she greeted and was very friendly but looked sort of tired. It was 9am and not too crowded, so she must have just gotten over a rush of truckers or on a long shift. We gave her our drink orders of Sweet Tea and started to look over the menu. It was small and concise and very reasonably priced ...again another Trucker advantage.. I opted for the "Trucker Special" of two eggs, choice of meat with potatoes with gravy and bread. I went with over easy, bacon , potatoes instead of grits and toast. Tony went with the same but made his meat sausage and Noel went with the French toast with bacon. The food came quickly. It was good, nothing memory shaking, I would stop again If I need to but I would NOT seek it out. The ticket was $26 before tip with taxes, left her $3 and we left..Nothing special !!! But my opinion the food was good and I think if you are traveling in the area..check it out!!! You may really enjoy it. The price of the food was really good, the price was better than the food experience. Great for the budget conscience!

I'm too hot to eat a lot. The buffet looked good, but not today. I wanted something light, like a bowl of soup or chili. After my waitress told me they didn't have soup, I decided on chili. It was good, and the iced tea with lemonade was just what the doctor ordered. ~~

Very friendly service, VERY clean restrooms. The food is nothing to write home about, it is however very affordable.

Good food, good service, friendly staff , clean restrooms and reasonably priced with everything. A great choice all around. My husband ordered breakfast at 1:30 pm and I had the lunch buffet. Simple fare on the buffet and it was fresh, clean and very tasty. Didn't have tummy room for the hand dipped hard ice cream that is part of the buffet, maybe next time. All in all it was a very nice stop.

So I have a confession. I am easily sucked in by billboards when driving down the interstate. If you advertise your restaurant/store/ball of twine for miles and miles I am TOTES gonna want to go! This is how I ended up stoping at the Tennesseean truck stop on the way to Birmingham. Oh my. I should have gone to McDonald's. We walked in and saw that they had BBQ as well as a buffet. I was craving some pulled pork so I had that in mind but still checked out the buffet. There were meats...I could only identify the meatloaf and what kind of looked like chicken? So no go on the buffet. Instead we ordered two pulled pork plates - my sides were green beans and fried okra. This came with cornbread too. The waitress came back and brought us our plate. Then walked to the buffet to scoop out green beans from the buffet and bring them to the table. Um....so...that was weird. We got the giggles after that as more and more ridiculous things happened. For instance, who serves BBQ without even thinking of bringing sauce? We asked for sauce and she forgot it again until we asked again. Why did we need sauce so bad? This is single-handedly the absolute WORST BBQ ON THE PLANET. I am not shitting you. Do not get this. There was not a DROP OF MOISTURE left to the meat. It was drier than if it had been charred into charcoal. TERRIBLE. The sauce they finally brought out had a weird taste and did not help - it made the entire thing literally inedible. I had disgusting BBQ aftertaste in my mouth for HOURS after this. Please don't let people from other states eat here and think THIS is the best BBQ we have in TN!!!! On the bright side, the canned green beans were ok. The fried okra was ok but clearly frozen. Oh and where was the cornbread? Never had it. People watching alert: GREAT place for this! I liked the lady who may or may not have been preggers who was wearing one of those longer plaid shirts that was a bit see through b/c it is meant to be worn with a tank underneath and perhaps some skinny jeans. However, there were no pants to be found...just some lovely white cotton underpants underneath this shirt that were clearly on display for all to see. Honey, that ain't a dress. But the giggles ensued even further after seeing this. Also, the manager sitting down eating and barking orders at the waitresses was something to behold. Not to mention their country store that should be chock full of silly souvenirs sucked. Bonus though - they had the stuffed animal crane game by the bathroom. So that was cool. But the bottom line is DO NOT EVER GET THE BBQ HERE. Please God don't do it. Maybe the buffet but NOT THE BBQ.

Exit 22. And it's across the street from Mickey D's. NOW THIS PLACE IT THE S***! And sadly it's hard to check in on yelp because the map coordinates are wrong. But the actual name of the truck stop is called Pops BBQ. And if your in a hurry like me stop by and get yourself their pull pork sandwich. There the Bomb. Literally. End of story. The bomb. Don't forget it!
