Service is business only. Food is inconsistent.

2nd time here. Very friendly staff. Happy your here and very sharp. Had the turkey and hot ham sandwhich which was great. Wife had the brick oven shrimp two times in a row. Beer and spirits selection are good but somewhat limited. Close to the house and am looking forward to going back again without the kids. Overall a really good dining experience. Would recommend this to all my friends and am looking at as my "local hangout".

I've been to this place twice now. First time was a fail, that's why I give it a three rating. The food was underwhelming, service was slow and restaurant was pretty much empty. However, I visited again tonight due to a friends request. The service was friendly, the food was yummy and the atmosphere was more lively. My blackened tilapia sandwich tasted fresh (not previously frozen) and it was well priced. I will visit Skimos again...

Good pizza and pork loin, nice place. He has trouble keeping cooks and sometimes that can be a pain. Keep your expectations reasonable and it's a decent place

Skimo's will have me coming back for MO! Delicious buffalo chicken sandwich along with pizzas! I thoroughly enjoyed the band, they played Tom Petty along with other songs. On a diet? Try the seared tuna salad. I will be back very soon!

Skimo's is one of the only sit-down restaurants in its area, so they don't really have to pull out all the stops to pull in customers. They have a full bar, decent menu, and average staff. They also do live music weekly, and have plenty of TVs on throughout the restaurant. I recommend the pizzas--they're always good, and retain the flavor when reheated the next day. I've also tried a few of the sandwiches, which were average. Basically, if you live nearby and don't feel like driving far or getting into traffic, Skimo's will do the job.

We just stumbled upon Skimos and had a great early dinner! The service was excellent. We had spinach & artichoke dip & shared a V Sirloin Philly. They were both great but the sandwich was a step above! We will definitely come back.

Owner charged me $8.00 for a side of Italian Spinach without discussing the price not having it on the menu. No communication about it whatsoever until it was time to checkout... Ripe off!

Dyann and I came in for a late lunch. We both got house salads and then shared a shrimp poorboy. Then had apple fritters for desert. Salads were very fresh and loaded with bell pepper an onions. The poorboy was served on fresh ciabatta bread. Shrimp were fresh and tasty. The wasabi sauce was not overly spicy - just right. The fries were some of the best I have had - crispy and seemed fresh cut. Our desert - apple fritters were VERY good and reasonably priced. This is a locally owned restaurant - I would encourage you to visit it.

Wonderful food in a great atmosphere. I have never had trouble getting a table and service is outstanding.

Why, oh why was this experience so painful? Mainly because of the wait. We were seated immediately and then waited approximately 20 minutes until our order was taken. And that was only because I got up to go get someone. I mean the place was deadsville so I wasn't really sure what was taking so long. Then the waitress told me that she thought our waiter was sick and was probably stuck in the bathroom....eeeww! Not what I wanted to hear at this moment. Moving on, I ordered the french onion soup and ceasar salad. It took another 25 minutes for them to bring this out to me. For soup and salad? Neither were above average either. Totally bummed out. This place has a great ambiance about it. The bar area looks really cool and just big enough for a good size group of friends to meet up with after work. Not sure I would come back for eateries but maybe for a couple of drinks.

Way too expensive for the quality of food they serve. The owners wife/waitress was extremely rude. They also take forever. The food tastes good, that's the only reason for 2 stars.

Went to this restaurant the other night because of minimal options in the neighborhood. Which is the only reason this place will get business. Ordered the chicken philly. Finally received it 45 mins later which was absurd. The sautéed onions and peppers that were on it were cold upon arrival. The cheese that was one melted was crusted over. The chicken was luke warm. And the hoagie roll was so soggy that when you attempted to suck it up and take a bite, the cold contents fell through the bottom of the roll. Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind. I dont understand it when clearly it was hot at one point. There was plenty of staff standing around in groups the whole time. And im sure that the four customers inside of the restaurant were not putting them in the weeds. No excuse other than pure laziness from a staff that could care less about their customers. What a joke...

It's ok. It was dead on a Tuesday night. I got a salad with a seared tuna steak. The tuna was more than seared. It wasn't bad but overcooked for a salad. The portions are decent and the prices aren't horrid. The Amaretto sours I was drinking didn't qualify as well drinks (they have everywhere else I've been). We went for trivia. I even checked their webpage...apparently they canceled trivia a month ago and never felt the need to update the webpage.

My husband and I tried SkimO's when it first opened, supporting local business. What first impressed us was the friendly atmosphere. We have been eating there at least once a week now, sometimes 2-3 times a week.....just love the place. Had my early retirement party there and now have made SkimO's our Valentine's Day tradition too! The sandwiches are huge and so fresh, we've had them all, but my favorite is the Chicken Philly. The fries are the best I have tasted in Memphis, really! The pizzas are delicious and Phil is happy to change up some of the ingredients, but the Buffalo Chicken P izza is fantastic. And you have just got to treat yourself to the prime rib! Wow, wonderful! But my very, very favorite is the Chicken Avocado Ceasar Salad.

Since I moved close to this place, have really enjoyed coming here. The food is not mind-blowing, and they don't make their own sauces, but the pizza is tasty, the fries are great, and I love the chipotle mayo. I really like their chicken philly, andouille sausage, and their po-boys. I do agree that they could use some truly interesting items on the menu, but it is a good place to grab a bite, a drink, and watch some sports on their many tvs.

Waitress, said to be bar owners wife, seems to believe she is doing you a favor by serving you. Be sure to tell her to FILL your beer glass. Otherwise you will get almost 2 inches of foam with it. That would be fine if they used the big mugs; but they use small glasses. The food quality is inconsistent and mediocre at best and very expensive for bar food. A small NY Strip and single vegetable will set you back $27 plus tax. Add a beverage, and it is almost $40. Not much going for this bar/grill. This is a place better avoided. 1 Star awarded because a lower rating cannot be given.

Sat at bar 15 minutes and no one greeted us. We just left! Very disappointed!!! I was looking forward to trying them out as I heard mixed reviews. Oh well. They're loss.

This place is ok. It is less than a mile from me and I'd still rather go other places.. When they first opened the food was much better. The burgers are good usually, but inconsistent. Steaks are seasonless. I had to send one back a couple of years ago. Their steak quesadilla is always good, but beware of the guacamole...it is not always fresh. The owner's wife does seem to not have the type of attitude you would expect. The owner is nice, however.

Yikes. I tried this place twice. Once when it first opened and then a couple weeks ago. Both times were beyond disappointing. Their pizzas are marginal at best, and they waaaay overpaid for that oven. The recipe they are using combined with a fake wood fired oven equals a waste of money. The rest of the menu is pedestrian and uninspired. There is nothing unique about the place. I cannot believe they have lasted this long. They need a complete redo of the menu, not different nightly gimmicks. Hire a real chef and let him develop a menu. Its a beautiful space.

Went on Friday and was very disappointed. I got Prime Rib and ordered it medium rare. The Prime Rib was medium to medium well and was cold. I would have said something, but my wife ordered chicken and avocado salad that she had to send back mainly because the avocado was dark brown and tasted bad. IF we go back, we will try a pizza, some of them looked good.

Second time in and not going back. Food is better at the school cafeteria. Asparagus were mush, risotto was over cooked, shrimp were hard and let's not forget the two "veins" that were left in.

Came here on a Sunday and it wasn't empty or too crowded. The games were playing on the tv's and service was excellent. Hostess and waitress were very friendly. I heard great reviews about the pizza but chose to go with the angus burger myself. I appreciated that they asked me how I liked my burger cooked b/c many places won't and it came out medium as requested. The burger was good but definitely did not look like the picture posted on the website. Never the less, I will be back.

Enjoyed dinner with Kristen and Sean this evening. The pizza was great. I had the SkiMos Veggie 12" Brickoven Pizza. Really, really good pizza. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. And the service was top notch. I highly recommend this place for food, ambiance, service and value. I'll definitely be back.

This is a cool place, great decor, plenty of good wait staff...they are just waaayyyy toooo expensive for what you get. They REALLY ought to get smaller hoagie rolls if they don't what to put enough ingredients to fill them. Hubby got hot-wing-sauced hoagie $9. I got Philly cheesesteak $9. Both had ingredients spread out thinly as to appear to fill the hoagie roll. They didn't. We feel like we had meat adorned bread for dinner. It would have felt like a better sandwich on a hot dog bun instead of a hoagie bun.

Food is okay, but definitely overpriced ($31 for filet mignon??) for a bar. It serves it's purpose as a gathering place, as there's no bars in the nearby vicinity. And I've been here 5-6 times and never gotten friendly service from the owners themselves (always act like my order is an impedance)--however, regulars seem to think highly of this place in terms of service.

I just moved to a new house near here and decided to check them out as they are near me now. The food is decent, but nothing special. The first time I went, I got the Pastrami/Corn Beef sandwich. The sandwich itself is not that bad, but they use a Horseradish Wasabi sauce on it that completely covered up the flavor of the meats. If you do get this sandwich, definitely ask for the sauce on the side. A little bit of it goes a long way. The second time I went, I got the Andouille Sausage Po-Boy. It comes with a Chipotle Mayo sauce which is fairly decent. If I was to go again, I would probably get this. The sauce actually compliments the sausage and the sauteed peppers. The first time I went was for dinner, and the second time was for lunch. Both times, the service was a little spotty. My waiter was also the bartender. They seem to have him covering the entire restaurant by himself. I don't blame him, because he was busy, but the service was pretty slow. I often ran out of water for long stretches of time and it took forever to get our checks. If your in the area, it's worth it to check out, however I wouldn't drive across the city to eat here.

If you only read one review, read this one. The single star overstates the value of the customer service at this restaurant. I had my fourth and final experience at Skimo's last week. The service is always slow (we continue to go because we live around the corner and the food is usually good) and I was not surprised when we did not receive our food in a reasonable amount of time - this time we waited 45 minutes and one of our dishes had obviously sat in the window for 20+ minutes... it was not edible. Because of the excessive time, it is important to note that we ordered 2 salads, a kid's grilled cheese, a fish sandwich and a chicken sandwich. In addition, my 2 year old daughter had to wait the entire 45 minutes for her food, the asparagus side constituted 4 shriveled stalks, and we went 20 minutes without seeing our waitress before I finally had to ask one of the 3 people hanging out at the hostess stand to check on our meal. Normally I would just chalk it up as a bad day and move on. When I asked the waitress what type of experience would require a manager to talk to us, she said she was a manager, told us she apologized (she did) and then argued with us about how long we waited - we eventually proved to her that we had indeed waited an incredibly long time and she turned around and walked away. Normally I would just chalk this up to subpar service - arguing with a customer, especially when your not correct, is breaking the cardinal rule of waiting tables. The next issue is when the event became the worst dining experience of my life. A man then brought my bill (5 minutes after I provided my credit card to pay and only adjusted for the meal that had been sent back because we couldn't eat it), dropped it off and took the second ticket in my party without saying a word. He was dressed differently, and when he returned I asked if he were a manager... He replied, "I am the OWNER". I proceeded to ask him if he were aware of what happened tonight and he responded not by asking us to tell him what happened, not by apologized for our experience, but by telling me how much I upset his waitress! If that wasn't enough, I then briefly explained our experience and, after I said that we had been served food we couldn't eat, he sarcastically said "so your telling me you didn't eat your food"! He clearly implied that I was exaggerating and lying because 80% percent of our table was indeed able to eat the food we waited 45 minutes for... That's not it. The OWNER then told me the facts of the evening were my "opinion", gave us a smug grin and said, "We appreciate you coming in" and "I hope you have a nice day". It is my opinion that his arrogance and blatant lack of customer service has created a culture where it is ok to argue with customers, serving obviously poor dishes is acceptable, 30 minute ticket times are expected, individual customer experiences are irrelevant and they are entitled to the business they have. It would not surprise me if, even after reading this review, the owner still thinks he did nothing wrong and attempts to justify his actions. I cannot chalk a bad owner up to anything. If you are looking for a place to get dinner near Skimo's, try Rio Azul in the next shopping center - great prices and great employees. If you want a drink, drive a little further and go the Huey's, the Saucer or Mulligan's. Please don't choose to patron a place that doesn't value you, your time, or your money.
