Ridiculously poor service. Took over 25 minutes to receive the 10 wings I ordered and they charged me 85 cents per wing. That's nearly twice as much a Buffalo Wild Wings. Rayford's anemic wings were half the size of Buffalo's wings. The only redeeming fact was that the sauce was halfway decent. The carrots and celery were the consistency or rubber though. The final straw was their refusal to accept a valid Restaurant.com coupon that I paid for through Restaurant.com . I use these all the time and the owner, who never left the back office area even though his service staff was underwhelming, claimed it was a scam. The coupon was valid and even had their address on it. Not user friendly and not recommended.

These are probably the best wings in Memphis, IMO. My other half gets the suicide version, but even the regular can be a bit spicy. They are not battered, but are fried and lots of sauce. You can feed anywhere from 1 - 150 people with their orders, but call ahead is your best bet. Very dive-like atmosphere, but that's what you'd expect for a neighborhood take out place. The owner is nice and you can tell he really cares that you get good food and good service.

The best hotwings period! On the downside they tend to be a bit disorganized and not always as helpful/friendly as they could be. Call ahead for you order (if you can get through/or them to answer) i have waited anywhere from 15 min to over an hour (they lost my ticket) a recent price increase across the board just happened and they are not inexpensive. But the wings rock!! I get regular hot and for me the temp is perfect and the wings are perfectly cooked so i choose to live with the rest

The fried green tomatoes are to die for! Fish is da bomb also! Fruit punch is great. Wings are good. They are cheaper than Mr. P's, so I drive a little farther to get them from here. The lemon pepper wings are too lemony to me.

This is my first review. I just had to for this. My son lives close to this place so to kill time while he was at work we went to eat Chinese. However, we saw Rayfords's instead. This place has THE BEST wings!!! I am a picky wing eater (I don't eat the skin & pick thru them for the meat). These wings made me SERIOUSLY consider eating the skin!!! Omg it was good!! I had lemon pepper & reg hot. There are NOT enough good things I can say about them! Their veggies are different from the typical raw ones you get. They are also in the sauce & soak it up. If you're a sauce person like me, they are heaven!!!! The fried green tomatoes & onion rings are AWESOME TOO!! I saved some for my son to try & he loved them too! He will go back often & we will DEFINITELY eat here when I visit!!!! The only bad thing I can say is that they use an outside ranch/blue cheese source that is a travesty to dip such delicious food in!!!!! The mustard (homemade??) for the fried green tomatoes is wonderful!!

I must say, these are some pretty good wings. I love the spicy bbq! I've never sat inside and ate, always got them to go. I also like the seasoned wings. Well, pretty much I like all of the flavors!! Average prices for wings in this area.

Rayford's "used" to have the best hotwings in Memphis. However, as time has gone on and they have expanded... they have gotten awful. The customer service is shi**y to say the least. The food is HORRIBLE. They have you waiting for decades and when you get home it is cold. Mind you, I literally live like 3 streets over and these are not New York blocks either. Orders are wrong... Just sad. If expanding means that you can continue to give the great service and food featured on the Andy Wise show then Kevin Rayford and the crew really needs to stick to one location and perfect that... Stop by at your own risk... but I'm done. Drop me a hot wing spot in Cordova below. I need suggestions...

Rayford's has the best wings in Memphis. I get Rayford's at least once a week and it's a great experience nearly every time.

I have no idea what the hype is about these wings. My order took forever....waiting around for almost 30 minutes. I noticed most of the patrons had called their order in and were just picking up to go. The wings were expensive so I thought I'd be getting pretty good sized wings.....not the case....the dinkiest wings I've ever had, and over-fried so they were dry. I got regular hot, and they were nothing special.....no unique flavor or anything. I honestly think the wings at Zaxbys are tastier, and slightly more meaty than these...and I would have gotten my order much quicker! I did try the fried Okra, and that was pretty tasty, but the wings left me in disappointment.

I went to the Shelby Drive and Riverdale Location on Friday night. I ordered the 2 piece Catfish Filet meal which was real great. I order a Tea and she gave it to me from behind the counter full to the rim and told me the tops was on the other side of the room. She left me with no room to add ice and her personality was awful. I know the owner has to know this person is not good for the business that has been built.

Great food... Customer service is hit or miss. I went in tonight and the female that took my order was rather rude and impersonal. BUT there was a young man whom I watched take GREAT care of several needy people that came in and he did so with a smile.

I was surprised the service wasn't horrible, after reading the reviews I was sure I was going to speak with a evil little person at the counter. However, services was ok! The seasoned wings are a little spicy, the honey gold wings have a little kick also. However, I must admit I don't eat hot food at all. So it could just be ME. One word of advice you can never go wrong with the lemon pepper. The fired green tomatoes were OK.

Wings are good, but service is horrid!! I've gone here several times and the service is always subpar. There is a lady that works there most nights that is extremely slow and unprofessional. It's as if they have no respect for your time. To her credit, they seem to be always understaffed. I called one night to place an order and she asked me to hold, I obliged. She proceeded to sit the phone down (not on hold) and completed an order, but then I sat there for 5 mins listening to her carry on idle conversation with another person about insurance and other personal things because she had forgotten that she put me on hold. So even though the wings are good, I can find wings just as good with better service elsewhere. It's not worth it.

Wings are good. Honeygold's are the best! But this place gets only two stars from me. We placed an order on Super Bowl Sunday early morning for a 4pm pick up. We got there to pick up our order and got stiffed. They ran out of wings, but no one called. So we had to scramble for food! Unacceptable in the carry out food business! Use the freaking phone numbers and call people when you cannot fill orders!!!

My brother and I came here this past weekend following an excellent round of Disc Golf. Personally, I think these are decent wings; but they didn't blow me away. Ironically, the extra star comes from the service that I received -- which seems like it is in direct contrast to some of the reviews that I have read. Food: We ordered 10 of their regular hot wings, and were not disappointed. Admittedly, I was not particularly impressed either. Below is my rating system for wings. Crispiness vs. Moistness: The wings were crispy. but overcooked. There is a fine balance between a crispy wing, and a moist wing. If you cook them too long, the outside is nice and crispy, but the inside is a little bit dry and rubbery. They cooked our wings a little too long, and this was the result. 2 / 5 Sauce: The sauce had a lot of nice flavors going on, but it was overly vinegar-y for me. It was not balanced like a lot of really good hot sauces are. The spice/heat was right-on though. Really well balanced in regards to that. 3 / 5 (2 stars + 1 for a great balance of heat) Dipping Sauce: The amount of bleu cheese given is ridiculous! In addition, it is not very good. It does not compliment the wing at all. To understand what I mean, eat at Flying Saucer or Buffalo Wings and Rings (not BWW!!). 2 / 5 Food Overall: 2 / 5 Service: Though the service wasn't spectacular, they did a couple of 'little things' that I feel as if go a long way in ensuring customer happiness. First, the person taking our order at the counter was really friendly. She even went the extra mile and struck-up additional conversation with us outside of just taking our order. I appreciate that! Second, a person who seemed to either be an owner, or the manager came-out almost as we were getting ready to leave, and asked the dining room if everything was good (there were only two tables). I appreciate that they care about the dining experience. Service: 5 / 5 Atmosphere: It isn't exactly the most beautiful place in the world, but it was cleanly and comfortable. Atmosphere: 3 / 5 Price: For what we got, I don't feel as if we got a great value. It was probably 'about-right', but for a similar price, I will go to Abner's or Flying Saucer -- every time. Price: 2 / 5 Final Thoughts: I am a very harsh grader on chicken wings. So a 2 from me could be someone else's 3 or 4. Personally, the unbalanced sauce, the overcooked wings, and the lack of a meaningful dipping sauce that contributes to the overall flavor of the wing, is why I would not return. Despite that though, it does seem as if they are reading / taking note of the reviewer's complaints about service, because they really made a great effort when we went.
