This location is settle in middle busy Cordova/Wolfchase area. I decided to eat at this location on a busy Sunday afternoon over a year ago when I noticed that the restaurants surrounding it were packed and this place seemed to be the only place they didn't have a full house. The restaurant was clean and had a nice menu selection. I was immediately greeted my order taken and only had to wait a few minutes for my order. I found the food to be obviously not five star but very good for the price. I've been back several times and I've never had a negative experience. I only wish that the food that I did receive each time wasn't room temperature. But I would recommend it.

I love the Abbay's concept of Southern staples in a fast food format, and with a drive thru! My husband also likes this place, but I think he would like a few more healthy choices on the menu. My favorite here is the chicken and dumplings--perfect! Also love their dinner rolls.

This is truly my quick veggie stop for Trevor jr., especially for after school dinner. Quick service and pretty good food.

We visited several times in the past, I am not over-whelmed by the food. The entrees are good, however, the "home-cooked" veggies taste straight from a can. Sorry, I cannot recommend them.

Homecooked food with a drive thru. They are a walk up service counter. You order from a large board overhead and they call your number to come collect your tray of food when it's ready. I got the chicken and dumplings with broccoli and rice casserole, fried okra, and cornbread. It was all pretty delicious, but of course they add a ton of salt and you can tell. I guess it's sort of expected at a place like this. There are a few healthier options I probably could have selected like baked chicken. My mom had the sweet potato casserole and really liked it. The kids portions are sizeable and portioned well.

I have made a small victory in our home...successfully convincing my husband and daughter that Abbay's is better than Cracker Barrel in every way. After countless times of CB screwing our order up, I began pushing the Abbay's agenda. Abbay's offers a variety of home cooked items like chicken and dumplings and country fried steak, all of which come with up to 3 sides and your choice of bread. Place your order at the drive-thru, and voila! You have a car filled with home cooked goodness and a sink smiling with no dirty dishes. (okay, so maybe its me smiling) My husband swears Abbay's chicken & dumplings is the best he's ever had anywhere. I can't say that I would argue with him. My previous review aside, our orders have never gotten mixed up. I will also add that the prices are reasonable; $20 easily feeds our family of 3. I know my family will never turn their noses up if I ask them if they want Abbay's for dinner!

This is the first time I've been to the restaurant. My kids love it and I have to admit it is tasty. Fried catfish and chicken strips are very good.... Excellent spices. Fried okra and mashed potatoes were great. There is a trend with the fried foods. I wish they had more healthy choices.... Even if it were a green salad. Very authentic Southern cooking with drive thru in an emergency.

I appreciate the concept of home cooking when you're in a hurry. And, expecting true home cooking in a drive-thru might be a lofty goal. However, it was still worth it, just as any other drive-thru establishment that I frequent tends to be. And, I love the fact that I can get lima beans in a jiffy. That tickles me. And some meatloaf. I have to third the Cracker Barrel comparison. It's all wholesome, down-on-the-farm stuff, and it's kind of fun to pick and choose your sides. Some of the main dishes are: baked catfish, meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, and the sides are lima beans, fried potatoes, mac and cheese, and green beans. This is only naming a few. And you can double your meat for under $2. The prices for meals range from about $4-$8. Good deal for a little variety.

I haven't logged onto Yelp in quite some time now but my experience at Abbay's a few hours ago was so bad that I felt it would be dishonorable not to warn others to stay far, far away from this place! Maybe I picked the wrong time or maybe even the wrong day to visit Abbay's for the first time but I'm pretty sure that I won't visit Abbay's again anytime this century. The parking lot that contained about only eight cars should have been my first sign to drive right on past this place and right into the wrapped around the building line at Jim and Nicks. However, I decided, against my better judgement, to pull up to the speaker in the drive thru and place an order. What should have been my second clue to keep driving was when the person who took my order sounded as if she had just awaken from a deep sleep but noooo I wanted to find out if what a couple of my friends had to say about this place was actually true. Let's start w/ the pork chop. I don't know if anyone likens the way food tastes to the way things smell...but yes I'm one of those people that does. If you've ever smelled a wet dog then imagine the horror on my face when I bit into my pork chop only to discover that the smell of a wet dog now has a taste! Don't get me wrong, they are pretty generous with their portion sizes but at this point I would have rather had small portions of great tasting food instead of the large portions of the distasteful food that I was served a few hours ago. I'm pretty confident that the plastic bag that contained my plate of food tasted way better than the food I received. The spicy fried broccoli looked like the second cousin to okra (should have been impossible right) and was so salty that I'm pretty sure I developed high blood pressure tonight. Last but not least, I know that everyone fixes food differently but who mixes a package of hidden valley ranch dressing in potato salad AND, to add insult to injury, add mayo to it??? Welllll...apparently Abbay's does. Ewwww...barf!!! I wouldn't recommend Abbay's to the troll under the bridge let alone anyone that I care about. I'm going to go ahead and wrap this up....excuse me while I go punch a couple of "friends", who recommended this restaurant to me, in the face :)

Southern cooking - fast food style. That's what this place is all about, complete with a drive through window. You know, it's kind of nice to have this option on busy nights when you want something more than a burger and just don't feel like cooking. The food is actually really good here, much better than you'd expect from a fast food place. They have meat and veggie options to choose from with comfort foods like Country Fried Steak, Meatloaf and Chicken and Dumplings. They have a really big selection of vegetables including fried okra (my fave), black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, broccoli rice casserole, mac n cheese and my mom's favorite - turnip greens (blech). Sorry - I HATE turnip greens. They also have good soups, GREAT cornbread and even kids meals. Best of all - prices are super cheap.

I've been here several times. I think I have tried almost everything on the menu. Hamburger steak, beef tips w/rice, pork chops, turnip greens, etc... I could go on. I call it commercialized southern home style cooking. Why? Because they have a drive thru. Yes. Dine in, take out, or drive-thru it's your choice. Prices are fair for a meal also. I like it. It has mixed reviews but overall it's good, fast service for a semi-home cooked meal in my opinion. Just try it if you haven't.

Back home in Chicago , we were blessed with Boston Market. Delicious freshly made whole/half rotisserie chickens and wonderful (WONDERFUL) sides. I was making my way down Germantown Parkway one day and spied a little place called Abbay's. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to the drive-thru menu and realized THIS was the southern version of my beloved Boston Market. Sure, it isn't quite as healthy as Boston Market (okay not healthy at all) but it feels like a home cooked meal. In fact, I feel like when I get Abbay's food that someones Grandma spent the day cooking up a large meal just for me. Abbay's offers up quite an extensive menu. My favorite being the chicken fried steak with a side of mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. The three are perfect together. Especially once I mix my corn and potatoes up all together. Why is it that I carried my childhood love of mixing my corn and mashed potatoes together into a crazy looking concoction with me as an adult now? I always add a side of the spicy broccoli bites because they may be the best fried veggie invention known to man. I don't know what Abbay's puts in this batter, but it is simply amazing. Who woulda thunk that broccoli would make an excellent veggie fried? Apparently Abbay's did! Even if you have no desire to eat at Abbay's after this review, please take this much with you....Go get some spicy broccoli bites. Now. The end.

As Deen B. says, it truly is similar to a Cracker Barrel drive-thru. It's as tasty as Cracker Barrel and you don't have to wait as long for your food either. I will be stopping by here again when I get the chance.

Excellent southern food, cheap and fast! Much better than Cracker Barrel. Sweet potato casserole was awesome.
