I just wanted to pop in and add an update. My wife and I have now been here more times than we can count and has become our go-to quick date night restaurant. The food is always spot on. The service staff is well trained in how to be a little more upscale and take care of their customers without rushing. The owners are always nice and take the time to speak with you for a minute to ensure your meal and experience is a good one. This local spot is simply a great example of how a small, family operated restaurant should be run and can be successful even if a little above the typical price range of the area.

If you want really good food, and a unique, non-chain experience, go to River Terrace. You will pay fine restaurant prices AND you will get fine, unique food! You can dress casual, just leave your NASCAR shirt and ball cap at home and you will be dressed fine. Nice, quiet atmosphere, and a great view. I had shrimp cocktail, Ribeye steak with Cajun shrimp Effoulette on top, asparagus, salad, and cheesecake, and drank a couple of Margaritas. Everything was prepared with a unique flare, and was fantastic. The staff is friendly and are at the table at the right time. Their biggest concern is that you are satisfied. Spend some extra money and have a nice experience at River Terrace.

We had a great taste of New Orleans during our travels! Cozy place for a date night! Crawfish étouffée was wonderful! Bread pudding yummy!

Yum yum and did I mention yum! Nice and quaint with a great ambiance. The food was spectacular! I was served by the owner and treated like family. I highly recommend to anyone passing through town for a nice meal!

The atmosphere was nice. I like being able to see the river. I had the étouffée which was not that great. Was not traditional étouffée, never had anything like it in Louisiana. The bread pudding is terrible. I told the waitress and she was like "oh" and walked away. That was that. Columbia doesn't have that many good restaurants hence the great reviews. I can't recommend this place.

Not much to look at on the outside of the building but inside is more like a fine dining restaurant. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was outstanding. The crawfish ettoufee was great. My wife had the crab cakes and she says they were delicious. Definitely an awesome addition to the Columbia dining scene. Will be back again and again.

Outstanding meal! I had a house salad with blue cheese dressing and blue cheese crumbles. So, so good. Catfish Royale is wonderful. Filet on a bed of rice and smothered in Crawfish Étouffée. Loved it!

This is a hidden gem by the river in Columbia Tennessee. River Terrace. This restaurant over looks the river. Authentic New Orleans food. Amazing menu. You need to be dressed up. Place has a great ambiance. Restaurant owner is really nice. I definitely recommend this place. Must try. I ate Catfish Royal and Chicken Piccata.

If you find yourself in Columbia, TN, I highly recommend dining at the River Terrace. Not only is the food excellent, but the view of the Duck River is nice, the servers are professional and do a great job, and the restaurant itself has a long history. Randy (the owner) and his wife Elizabeth will share the history of the restaurant with you; be sure to check out the 215-year-old fireplace up front. Cool place, great people, excellent étouffée! Save room for dessert - the bread pudding is the best I've had!

My husband and I enjoyed celebrating his completing another tour around the sun on 8/25/14. I am hopeful that my wining and dining him showed him how much I love him. A romantic, sunset lit dinner. We had few cocktails, some wine, delicious meals - his the lamb chops, me the Catfish Royal -, and an incomparable salted caramel cake and aperitifs for desserts made for a wonderful birthday. Thank you for impeccable service, attention to detail, and quality of cuisine. We cannot wait to enjoy ourselves there again...SOON!

The little town of Columbia has a fine dining restaurant that would be right at home in New Orleans. This is the best Cajun food I've had since moving from New Orleans after Katrina. I was very impressed with the atmosphere & details right down to the beautiful flatware that they serve on. The owners and wait staff were very friendly. I had crawfish étouffée for an appetizer, stuff shrimp for the main course, and bread pudding for dessert. The crawfish at two Faye was loaded with crawfish tails. This is a Great date night restaurant. I was visiting on business but this will be a regular stop when I'm in town.

Visited River Terrace on 7/12/2014 ! This is a wonderful find . Very nice views of the river in the main dining room . We tried 2 appetizers of Shrimp cocktail and rooster fries . Really enjoyed the shrimp cocktail and even though we finished the rooster fries I don't think I would order it again . I'm sure it was wonderfully prepared it was just not something I would go back for seconds ! Just my taste . I can check that off my "Done That" list now ! The dinner salad with the house dressing was small simple and very good . Just perfect before dinner . For dinner we had the crawfish ettoufee and the fried catfish . Both were wonderful and the ettoufee was seasoned just right . The menu was extensive and I definitely plan on a return trip soon . The wine list was very good with great selections by the glass . The service was outstanding . Our server was very knowledgeable and professional .

Who would think you could find good Creole food in TN! This place is very unassuming from the outside and you'll question if it will be good or not (frankly with the expectation that it won't be that good). This is a small family owned restaurant and the owners are great. Menu has lots of beef, seafood, and chicken options. In our party of 4 we had three different dishes and all were outstanding. Seafood is properly prepared (including shellfish). They also have a nice selection of beers that are served ice cold (as they should be). DEFINITELY check this place out if you are in the area. Well worth the trip.

The best restaurant in Columbia. The scallops are amazing, as well as the catfish. I love all of their sides and desserts! The atmosphere is nice, a nice place for a date or just casual dinner.

I can't believe we live so close to this place and never heard of it. We went tonight for the first time for my birthday dinner. I'm a big fan of Creole and Cajun cooking and since our regular Cajun place isn't open on Wednesday's; we gave this place a shot. The outside of the restaurant doesn't inspire much but that is where the deceit ends. The inside is very elegant and inviting. Our waitstaff was well dressed, well spoken and very knowledgable about the menu. Our waiter suggested Hurricane cocktails (which I haven't had since I was in New Orleans) and they were perfect. We split a bowl if their crawfish étouffée and we were both very happy with it. Not too salty, not too rich either it was just right. My wife ordered the Shrimp St. Elizabeth and she could not keep smiling over how good it was. I too kept stealing bites of it. The crab cake was not deep fried but maybe pan fried and that made it incredibly tender and moist. We were too full to try desert so we will be going back again soon!

This place was a great find! Some friends of mine that live in Columbia invited us to this place one Friday night. I was only told it was a great little Cajun place. I had no idea how nice the place was when I showed up in a baseball cap and t-shirt. I didn't feel out of place one bit. This is the kind of place you can dress up or down and you'll be just fine. Now on to the most important part... The food is outstanding! I ordered the catfish, shrimp & oysters dinner or as I will call it from now on "The Trifecta of Fried Slap yo Mamma!" This was not the greasy over fried fair that most places serve up. This place has a chef that knows what he is doing and it was some of the most tender seafood you can get this far from the ocean! He even comes out to see if you approve of his delicious creations. My wife ordered the New York Strip and it was outstanding as well... With only a hand full of Cajun places here in Tennessee and a Steakhouse on every corner don't ask me why she got steak, but he does make a good one. I will definitely be back to River Terrace next time I find myself in Columbia, or near Columbia for that matter... not sure why Gilbert only gave it one star and a good review, but he should update his rating.

I have been here 2 or 3 times now and it has been fantastic every time. They always have great food specials and the rasberry tort is to die for.

After reading the other yelp reviews and being from New Orleans originally we decided to go and try River Terrace restaurant in Columbia TN. The menu had loads of choices if you like steak and seafood like we do. My wife is allergic to seafood so we needed items for her and she loved the filet, it came out cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. I got the surf and turf which was a couple slices of filet with a mushroom sauce on top with three shrimp. The salad was nice sized and came with the meal. I love good tea and theirs was perfect for an upscale restaurant. The service was friendly and very attentive. The prices were appropriate for a very nice restaurant. We had a wonderful experience and have recommended others to go. When you sit next to a window the view is amazing as you can see down about a mile of the Duck River from a very high place. We even watched two beavers swim by while we ate. You will love the experience but expect to pay appropriately for a very nice restaurant.

This restaurant was absolutely wonderful. Our children treated us to dinner for our 54th anniversary at River Terrace. The food was exceptional from the appetizers to dessert! The owner and his wife visited our table to make sure that we were pleased with not only the food, but the service which was superb! We cannot say enough to recommend this to anyone that likes the New Orleans atmosphere and Louisianan, The menu has a large choice of various Entrees, Hors D'oeuvres,, Seafood, Soups, Specialty Items and Desserts. We thank the owner for making this a special evening for all of us.

This place is a real find! It has authentic New Orleans style food. (That's different from Cajun, in that it is more refined, and reflects the French influence more.) The chef comes out and talks to the patrons, and when my husband engaged him in a conversation about the seasoning of his blackened filet, the chef came back out with a sample of a different sauce he was experimenting with. (it was really good!). Between our appetiizer and the main course, we were presented with a knock-out fresh raspberry sorbet as a palate cleanser. The bread pudding is the real deal. This goes on our date night list for sure!

If you are looking for a quiet romantic spot to enjoy a good bottle of wine and an excellent meal, this is it. The restaurant is clean and they offer an interesting and complex menu of well-prepared food. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. We will definitely be back when we want to splurge on a night out.

Went here last week. Appetizers were very good, but this only gets 3 stars because my dish arrived kind of lukewarm and with not a whole lot of heat (got crawfish etouffee), but I'll bump it up to 4 because the chef came out and talked a spell with everyone at the table, which was a nice treat. Good drink selection and it looked like most people there enjoyed the food at the table. Overall, a good dinner spot.
