Go hungry, you can get a lot of food here. Ok, for what it is the food is great and service preempt. Family style, meaning you "pass the gravy" around the table and may eat with strangers. Good place to take out-of-towners. Check the times because the hours are odd and you don't want to get all the way out here and find the place closed. There's no smoking and no drinking and the crowd is pretty conservative. Sort of a Mom and Pop Cracker Barrel atmosphere.

New to the area and picked up on this place fromYelp! Not disappointed one bit. The place is clean and well staffed. The manager is everywhere making sure the details are being taken care of. We had a very pleasant young man as our waiter and the food was fresh, nicely seasoned and plentiful. The reviews got this one right, so here is one to add in. If you are in Eastern TN, try out the Farmer's Daughter for a no nonsense country cooked meal.

Too good to pass up! Close to Asheviille, NC and Johnson City, TN, this is best home cooked meal you will get outside of home. All the vegetables are reminiscent of childhood meals with Mom and family. It was so good, we ate there 3 times in one week, even though it is an hour drive from home. They also do takeout for $10 a person. Unbelievably good and filling.

Very good food, good staff. Definitely get your money's worth. Owners are a little hateful. Wish they were open during the weeks instead of just weekends.

If you are in the mood for some Southern comfort food, definitely consider this restaurant; be sure to come hungry and try coming at least 30 minutes before you plan on eating though! At $15 a head, you get your choice of two meats, and a bunch of assorted vegetables like fried squash, corn, sweet potatoes, and other great selections; not to mention fresh rolls and cornbread, and it's all unlimited! Last time we got the fried chicken and ribs, this time fried chicken and fried catfish... I've yet to dislike any of it. I'm not the biggest veggie eater, and I even loved most of them. All of the food is very fresh and flavorful, and the meats are juicy and tender. The staff was very friendly, and always got any requests taken care of very quickly. As I stated above, come early. It was pretty crowded and we had to wait an hour for six people. Don't let that discourage you though, there is an excellent store right next to it with a bunch of different things; my favorite in particular, a red velvet cookie, heaven in every bite. I will definitely look forward to coming again, great food, great service, overall great experience!

Kinda off the beaten path for city folk, but this "family style" restaurant is well worth any drive. The Farmers Daughter is a great spot for your southern fair, all the sides (which were ALOT) are included, and all you can eat. I definitely would suggest the Alaskan White Fish, but everything we tried was just amazing. And best of all, desert is included at the end!

Lots of comfort food. All you can eat family style. Pick two meats like fried chicken, ham, fish, ribs and it is also served with 14 sides plus dessert. Servers were friendly and it was a fun meal. Don't miss the donut trailer next door, they are Amazing!!

Good ole southern comfort food served family style. Food and service here were AUHmazing! There are no menus. You select your choice of 2 meats and all the sides are brought out to you. And just when you think you're done, it's time to choose dessert. We ordered the fried catfish and buttermilk chicken. I highly recommend the catfish! The sides included fried green tomatoes, corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, cornbread pudding, sweet potatoes, etc. For dessert, we got the coconut cake and chocolate fudge cake w/ice cream. I left very happy and a few pounds heavier. The country grocery store next door is also a great place to check out afterwards. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses. Just a lil heads up, there's usually a long wait and they don't take any cards.

Great southern good! It's all family style and all you can eat. The service is great and people so friendly! This was my first visit and will not be my last! *Make sure you bring cash! Credit cards/debit cards are not accepted.

Go when there isn't a line. It's not really worth the wait. Massive amounts of food at fairly reasonable prices but the menu is fixed and you only get to choose from a list of "proteins." You get tons of sides but few are very good. I struggle to determine why this place is so popular.

I was skeptical, I'll admit. I saw the 5 stars on Yelp and I thought... can't be. Then we sit down, and what? No menus? What is this nonsense? Well, pre-meal skeptical self, this nonsense is in fact DOWN HOME GOODNESS. It is like Thanksgiving at Grandma's house, complete with downright amazing food, feeling remiss that you didn't wear stretchier pants, and finding that even though you may have eaten too much, you still have room for dessert. We ordered fried chicken and pulled pork, and with that came a million different sides- creamed corn, fried green tomatoes, creamed carrots, veggies, cole slaw, beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and MORE I just can't remember it all! And I almost forgot... yeast rolls. THE YEAST ROLLS. The best. Also a solid choice of dessert with something for everyone- Strawberry Rhubarb pie, Key Lime pie, chocolate fudge cake.... Food rules. Service is awesome and makes you feel like family (including some light ribbing about not finishing the food!). Just make sure you hit the ATM before you go- it's cash or check only. Lovers of food rejoice, you have just hit paydirt.

When you see 200 cars parked at a restaurant on a country road in rural Tennessee, that's a solid clue you just hit pay dirt. Family reunion took us down into Greeneville, and the restaurant was our dinner reward after a 6 hour trip. Amazing selection of food, all served family-style, no menu. Waitress comes out, tells you what the entrees are for the day: You pick 2 meats/fish for your table out of about 6 or 7 they offer this particular day (whether you have 2 people at your table or 12); 3 minutes later out comes your water or tea or coke; then out comes cornbread and tall yeast rolls with fresh churn butter; then a few minutes later bowl after bowl of vegetables arrives and then the platters of your chosen meats. The food is southern home-cooked, from scratch, and spectacular. The service is highly competent: friendly and quick. The prices are excellent. Be prepared to loosen your belt 2 notches. Amazing Southern homestyle-cooking restaurant in the country, and extremely clean also. Even the owner made his way over to our table to check in on us. Don't show up after church on Sunday unless you want to wait 60-90 minutes. But if that's your only shot at dining here, I'd suggest you tough it out and wait. (BTW they offer a choice of 7-8 desserts included in the price that are also fresh made and DELISH as well.) Yes, we will return.

The food was beyond words. Buttermilk chicken, fried catfish perfection, sweet potatoes that melt your taste buds and inspire naps; sheer excellence. The service was second to none, the decor was very southern country. This is a Mennonite establishment which makes it unique and a must see for anyone not native to Tennessee.

The food was definitely good. I like that you're not given a menu but instead eat at the chef's discretion. This reminded me of the omakase style meals in Japan. One thing that is rather annoying is that they are only open on weekends so if you're craving a meal during the week, you can forget about it! But I'm not going to dock it any stars because after all, the most important thing for any restaurant is its food and the Farmer's Daughter's food is definitely A quality Southern cooking!

Hands down best all around food in the greeneville area! Even the vegetables were great. And I usually don't say that.

Excellent family-style ( brought-to-your-table) southern food. Select 2 meats from a half-doz; the 7-8 fresh veges, yeast rolls, cornbread, honey & sorghum syrup, drinks are served automatically. And kept filled until you give up. $15 . Service was timely, pro-active and friendly. Wow! Good thing it's over an hour from home or I'd be tempted to dine daily. No cards, debit or credit, but they do accept checks & cash. Between Greenville & Johnson City on Erwin Hwy.

We have been planning on visiting the Farmer's Daughter Restaurant for a couple years now and finally decided to make the trip. We live in Mountain City so it's about 2 hours from here. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon just before 1pm and the parking lot was packed. Our wait was at most 15 minutes. This is a nice clean place with friendly country decor and the service was great. There is something for everyone from fried chicken and fish to grilled salmon and pulled pork. You also get every side available which is about 12 different items. Everything was freshly prepared and super delicious. I understand they have baby back ribs after 4pm on Friday and Saturday. We will definitely be back for that. It was worth the drive. My new favorite place.

Came here while visiting family in TN. Really good "home cooking" style food. This is my kind of place - 2 plates of meat, and about 12 different side dishes. Highlights: BBQ ribs, cucumber salad, carrot souffle, broccoli with cheese. Everything tasted really fresh. Make sure you try the biscuits with the fresh churned butter!

Excellent scratch made country cooking served family style. Pick 2 meats and they bring you all the sides you can imagine

This is my favorite restaurant in Chuckey, perhaps because it is the only restaurant in Chuckey. Next door is a really fun store, Mountain View Bulk Food. Their fried chicken is way better than Paula Deen's at Lady & Sons, and you get to try all their sides. It is family style, and sort of like a buffet, but there is no buffet. They just keep on bringing out the food. Fun with a large group because you get to taste a few different main dishes. Hard to even pick a favorite, but I really like the way they do both the fish and chicken. We always eat here the weekend after Thanksgiving, when we're still off our diets, and just ran out of leftovers. Great family place, fun for everyone.

Amazing food, amazing service, great price. My family has been happy every time here. It's simple southern style cooking. They fill the table with all kinds of vegetables, and you pick two meats out of what they have that day. Refills on anything you want.
