I had the lobster bisque which was the soup of the day. It was absolutely delicious. It had a little spiciness to it that was fantastic. I also had the steak and scallop special. The filet was tender and flavorful. The scallops were the best scallops I have ever had. If I get a chance to go there again I think I'm ordering the scallop dinner.

This is a very nice quiet romantic place. This is the kind of place you may want to take somebody to when your first date if you're trying to impress. But make sure money is in an object. The food is good small portions the drinks were good but very very expensive. The bartender seem to have more interesting talking amongst themselves and the other servers than waiting on the patrons .

I was in town for business and found this place across from our hotel and loved the food. If you come, you must order the prime rib, it was absolutely delicious. And for the price, you can't beat it in my opinion, especially as I come from Chicago where a good steakhouse will run you $50 for a steak, I think this was like $25. We had shrimp and calamari appetizers which were great as well, very fresh tasting seafood. Great place to stop in for a nice dinner.

Steak had good flavor and location is great, especially for a glass of wine on the porch. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were out of a box though. Desserts were yummy!

Went here for dinner for the first time, and it won't be my last! Started off with the fried calimari - excellent. Thick squid pieces with a tasty batter - they must have seasoned it with something.... Had the special for dinner - red snapper over shrimp risotto. Omg. Delicious!! I told the server we need to make this a regular menu item. The service and ambience was very nice. I cannot wait to go back. Unfortunately i don't live here but will remember it on my upcoming trips.

Great steak, great service from Adam. Lively spot, busy on a Tuesday night. Great info from Adam on next spots to eat on our tour of Chattanooga . Would def return!

Great place. Excellent jalapeño Rita and great appetizer menu! Definitely a place to revisit. Service was super friendly.

Good food and you pay for it. I'm more of a hole in the wall kinda guy but it's a good spot for a date or business lunch/dinner.

Really enjoyed dinner here. Almost everything was great. I had the scallops and they were awesome. The hubs had the salmon and it was equally tasty. Friends had scallops and steak and loved it. We had calamari and shrimp for appetizers. The calamari was good but I did not like the shrimp. It was not what I expected when I read the description on the menu and honestly, it just tasted like fried shrimp that you can get anywhere. Would not recommend. Definitely need a reservation if you can! Hard to get a table outside though, even if you have a reservation. It seems like people get out there and do not leave. All in all, good food at a great location near the aquarium and easy walking distance from the pedestrian bridge.

Appetizers were great. The ahi tuna is phenomenal and is a must here. The steak was cooked to perfection and bleu cheese crust was great!

Just grabbed dinner here with my boss this evening. Hennen's came highly recommended from my boss' colleague at work, as a place to get a great steak dinner in downtown Chattanooga. The steakhouse is located in a really pretty area of downtown, right next to the Tennessee River, and the Tennessee Aquarium. Parking was easily accessible with the adjacent garage (and it is free, because the hostess will validate your ticket). The restaurant is small and intimate, a great place for a dinner date, or a business dinner. We were quickly greeted by our server, who proved to be very efficient and friendly for the duration of our meal. It also showcases a very impressive wine cellar, and a classy-chic bar, where I would definitely not mind having an appetizer/drinks at on another night. My boss and I were both starving, so we immediately ordered the calamari appetizer. Our server informed us that the seafood is always flown-in fresh daily, that nothing at the restaurant is ever frozen, and that all of the steaks are hand-cut and deboned in-house (nice!). The calamari was delicious: it was tender and sweet with just the right amount of breading. Nothing rubbery or frozen or over-breaded here. The breading was not overseasoned at all (which is a common mistake) and it was perfectly complemented by the sweet chili sauce that was served on the side. Between the two of us, we devoured the appetizer in no time. The BLT wedge salads that we ordered were good; nothing unique or mind-blowing, but still tasty. For our entrees my boss went healthy, and ordered their special red snappers of the night, served over a bed of succotash. I went the caloric route, and ordered the 12 ounce prime rib, medium rare, with the roasted mushrooms as my side. My beef was perfectly cooked, not overly fatty (probably a credit to the hand-trimming) and I greatly enjoyed the ample side of roasted mushrooms. Since my dinner partner was my boss, I did have the foresight to realize it would be unseemly for me to sample his dish. Ahhh, curse you, professional demarcations - because his fish looked delicious! He said it was delicious, and he did not leave a scrap on his plate. We were both too full after dinner to order dessert, but their selection sounded quite good (crème brûlée, beignets, vanilla cheesecake + salted caramel sauce and lava cake, to name a few - I must have been plumb mad to have opted out of dessert). Notable as well, the prices were very, very reasonable. Dinner for two before tip, with an appetizer, salads, two entrees plus one beer, was $70. This is a very good value for the cost.

In Chattanooga for a business trip, so I came in alone for dinner and sat at the bar. Great food!!! Mediocre beer selection, apparently more of a wine and spirits place. They don't appear to have any beer on tap, which was a bit of a turnoff. I ordered a local pilsner that came in a can. The bartender poured it into a glass that resulted in an almost 1:1 beer to foam ratio. I strongly believe that a bartender should be able to properly pour a beer. This is the only thing that knocked down my rating a star. Now for the food! This part was fantastic!!! I started out with the tomato bisque, which was very tasty, creamy, and flavorful. great way to start my meal. Followed that with the house filet and the veges of the day (carrots and turnips). The steak was PERFECT!! Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, overall awesome! The roasted veggies were great, I left nothing on my plate. I will be back for that steak! But, next time I'm ordering a cocktail.

Great dinner place for a steak or seafood. I had a NY Strip that was perfectly cooked, flavorful and wonderfully tender. They only serve Angus beef. My daughter had tagliatelle with Andouie sausage, chicken and shrimp. The pasta was good but the steak is the reason to come here. Their wilted spinach is great, and I'm guessing all their sides would be well prepared. They serve locally made sourdough with dinner. Service friendly and helpful but not pretentious. Two can have a great meal here for $65-$75, excluding alcohol. If you add wine or spirits, of course you will be in $100+ territory. They do have a large wine selection along with homemade desserts and coffee drinks. Overall a nice place with very solid steaks, fish and a few special items like lamb shank.

Melt in your mouth prime rib and flavorful New York strip! But don't get the fries as a side, they are kind of generic... It's all about their loaded backed potato! Great staff too! Katie are waitress was super nice and attentive!

Went here for dinner with friends for a weekend getaway. Service was outstanding as was the food. I had the PEI mussels. They were cooked in a bacon/jalepeno broth. Had a wonderful bacon smell and taste. Location is downtown Chattanooga and is close to all the attractions. I would recommend eating here as will I when in Chattanooga again.

Hennen's never disappoints. From cocktails to dinner to drinks and dessert. I have yet to have a bad experience. You will enjoy your time here.

I would have given 5 stars but they overlooked my steak. However, before I even took my first bite they asked me if it was over cooked and had it replaced with a perfectly cooked and seasoned ribeye. As consolation they comped our drinks which cost more then the food. My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Shawn, our bartender, was friendly and attentive without being too attentive. We will come back anytime we are in Chattanooga!

We are visiting from Los Angeles, CA and were looking for a good steakhouse in town. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away (party of 2). Our waitress was very sweet and the iced tea was delicious. The bruschetta was tasty and the salad was just ok. As the night progressed, the food got worse. The salad was very earthy and had too much cheese on it. Then my filet AND mashed potatoes came out cold. I sat and watched my mom eat while they heated mine up. The waitress apologized but never offered us complimentary dessert, a discount on our bill, etc. Anyway, we decided to order dessert & much to our NON surprise, it kept getting worse. The warm chocolate molten cake was not anything close to warm, and the beignets were dunked in some mocha cream sauce. No thank you. At this point we were tired and just wanted to get our bill and get out. I'm honestly surprised people in this town rant and rave about this establishment. I would've much rather been at Big River Grill around the corner - half the price and way better food. PS- we were given a coupon from our hotel for a free appetizer. When we gave it to the waitress at the end of the night she said it was only valid on 2 seafood option appetizers (although the coupon didn't state that ANYWHERE on it). Of course my luck, I'm allergic to seafood so we ended up paying for that sub-par bruschetta.

We hit Hennen's for Southen Brewers Festival halftime dinner. A party of four, we did the mussels, salmon, Ahi and scallops. The quality was excellent across the board. The mussels are one of my all-time favorites. Service was perfect. The ambience is very clean, upscale and modern. The wine list is not huge but well developed and has many interesting varietals. In regards to some steak-centered reviews, Hennen's is not a high end steak house in Chicago. But, it is the best $20 steak you will eat in Chattanooga. I love this place: a consistent, interesting and delicious place to hang with friends.

  • Atlanta F.

Over priced and always average. However they do have a great burger. Surprisingly the service is never consistent. Should be hard to get this one right. They have a good menu and food taste good. Just can't seem to bring it all together to make it worth the difference given all the local choices.

A wonderful dining experience...nice décor, wonderful service, everything was just perfect! Our server, Emily, was delightful...really good and sweet. Food came out right on time, hot, and delicious! The French Onion Soup was wonderful...my handsome date said the Prime Rib was one of the best ever! I had the chicken stuffed with feta cheese over scalloped potatoes and loved it! I highly recommend finishing off the meal with coffee and beignets. They are a little smaller than the beignets I am accustomed to...but amazing taste and texture! Will definitely visit again.

Hennen's is a very special place to me. I took my wife there on our first date. We go back for special occasions or other date nights when we want to treat ourselves. It is a classy place with fabulous food. It is sometimes hard to get in without a reservation. We have also sat at the bar for dinner. When I go here I almost always go for a filet. They do it right. Love this place.

  • Darlene O.

I loved the ambience and the food was great! I went on a relatively packed night (a lot of prom-goers were in the building) so I snagged a seat at the bar. I ordered the pan seared crabcakes for appetizer and the Tagliatelle pasta for my entrée. I really enjoyed both especially the Tagliatelle pasta. That Tagliatelle pasta was everything! It is difficult for me to find creamy pastas that do not have a cheese-based sauce but when I do I am stuck to it like glue! I wish that Hennen's had more locations than just Chattanooga because I do not see myself traveling to Chattanooga again. I visited because at the time I was living in Nashville and I drove down to Chattanooga, which was less than a two hour drive away, for a concert.

Was in town with a bunch of my buddies from college for a wedding, wanted a nice dinner. Good walking location from the hotel. Place has a nice set up, looked like they would know how to do a steak. I guess we just got an off night. Took an incredibly long time to get our food. I ordered a 16oz ribeye and so did my buddy. Both came out over cooked. The cheese grits side was delicious though the temperature was off, not quite warm enough. I gave three stars because management was very apologetic and offered to do another steak for me. I didn't eat it and explained that we had been there so long, not to bother. At any rate they comped the steak, and were very gracious. If only their kitchen was as good as their customer service.

Wow! I have to update my review with yet another 5 star rating. First of all, Brad who served us is a top notch and super attentive star. My husband and I both ordered filet. I have been to places like Morton's and Chops on the quest for the best Filet, but Hennens served up the best Filet that I have ever had in my life. They had a special on the menu with the finest cut of filet and it was as tender as butter and beautifully cooked.

Hostess was awkward. Ordered rack of lamb for myself and my date had feta chicken. My lamb tasted like fish. I can only guess they were reusing pans for different meats. It was overcooked and mushy with a gray color. Anyway, it was pretty disgusting, and I ate maybe a fourth of it, which is nuts considering it was $29. I hate leaving a restaurant feeling like I was robbed - but that's what this was like. What a waste of money.

Parking easy with a pay lot and garage nearby. Garage validates parking. Food excellent quality and flavor. Location near waterfront attractive. If you're looking for a romantic meal with a formal atmosphere this is a great choice. My less than perfect marks are due to high prices and less than stellar service at my most recent visit.

  • Anthony V.

Ordered a 16 oz Ribeye cooked medium well. I received the steak as bloody and not cooked to my likings plus about 25% of the steak was fat. The server was nice and location, next time i am in town i will give it a try again.

Yes I would go back to this place. Loved it. My steak was awesome. I eat a lot of steak and this was goooooood. The staff was nice. Good everything. Wish they had more gluten free stuff, but I loved it. It was a gem. Had a nice bottle of win also. you should give them a try.

Wonderful food, yet service and professionalism was severly lacking diminishing the experience. They do not understand how to set up a table before seating the guests. and they do not know to bring everyone's dish out within a reasonable time of each other...we do want to dine with our companions. We went here for a business lunch, and at these prices, you'd expect better service. But, this isn't the big city, so you make do with what you've got. There aren't enough dining offerings in the downtown area, so, I'll probaly return, and hope for a better experience next time.

We had a very nice dinner. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides and salads were very good. The atmosphere has a nice ambience as well as the restaurant is not noisy. The service was good with the exception of our drink orders. I am not sure if it was our server who forgot we ordered drinks or the bar was backed up but there was definitely a disconnect. I suspect the former since the restaurant was not very busy. Regardless we ordered a round before dinner and one during and both were lengthy waits. We ordered dessert and I ordered an after dinner drink. We were done with dessert before my drink came out so we cancelled my drink (we waited a while before we started on the dessert). Our server was good from the standpoint she knew the menu and was able to answer any question we had but was overly scarce and really not very apologetic about the poor bar service. What I thought was comical was she thought she was doing us a huge favor by removing the cancelled drink from our bill. Hennen's is worth going back to, I just hope we don't get the same server

I enjoy Hennens. Had a party of six this week. I ordered a Cesar salad and the scallops. Salad is good and when a restaurant actually has real anchovies instead of the "it's in the dressing" crap. I will admit, when the scallop dish came the table (all with steaks) told me to "enjoy your appetizer" I thought the same :-( . Wowzer! Was I surprised. This tiny dish was so rich, so good, I was actually full after finishing. Hmmm! A healthy fish dish creamed in fat! Can't get much better than that. Wine? You will find that Hennens probably has the best wine list in Chattanooga so if you want it they probably have it. My only star deduction is the set up. Not enough tables. Booths are great but cuddling tight with 5 other men to eat is not my definition of a comfort night. Hennens is the Chattanooga spot! It's good, it's well ran, and it will book quickly so reserve well in advance, One last request to improve Hennens. They have a very nice patio dining area, maybe they can cut the cancer sticks.

Went here for my wife's birthday as we haven't been here before. We made reservations online although for the particular night we ate there they probably weren't needed. We were seated right away and the hostess was pleasant. The atmosphere was great and although it was crowded it wasn't loud. Our food was great, I had the crab legs and wife had a steak. They cooked it to her desired butterflied well-done. We didn't have desert as the main course was quite filling. Our server was great although a little on the chatty side but he was prompt and made sure we had what we needed as well as providing suggestions. There is parking above the restaurant and our server made sure we had our parking validated. It's definitely worth trying!

Came in late Sunday night. Dined at the bar. Service was impeccable. Very attentive bar tender. Ate like a pig. Southwestern shrimp appetizer; hot and delicious. Caesar salad. Perfect. 8 oz filet medium rare with a baked potato. Scrumptious. Could not have had a better dinner. And, the price was reasonable. Can't beat that. If you are in downtown Chattanooga, come here for the best steaks...

Average foods. Bad service. We made a birthday lunch reservation with some instruction to bring a surprised birthday cake & candle at the end. Long story short, they forgot and keep asking what to do at the table. It's ruin the surprise!

Let me start by saying, I would give this restaurant 6 stars if I could. It is right in the heart of downtown, across from the aquarium. (And walking distance to some bars for post-dinner action if you are like me and into that sort of thing.) There was garage parking attached to the building so that was no fuss at all. The atmosphere is casual but still classic and sophisticated at the same time. The hostess and waitresses were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and just FANTASTIC. It was not the kind of place where you felt rushed. You really felt like they want you to take your time, enjoy your meal and enjoy your experience. I went there with a party of 8. We all had the best time, sipping cocktails (which were delicious), chatting, and just enjoying ourselves. The food was PERFECTION. Everything we ordered was cooked exactly as it should be. The presentation was flawless. I took pictures of everything. I was "that girl". Some of the touches on the dishes are unexpected and delightful. The steaks were excellent. I went the specials route and you could just tell the chef was loving what he was cooking. You can taste it in the food. I enjoyed Chattanooga and intend on coming back for a weekend down the road. But if not, I would make the two hour trip from Atlanta solely for this dinner. (I hear they have a good lunch menu too, but I did not have the fortune of trying it.) If you go to Chattanooga, Hennen's is a must!

You can tell this place is busy nights and weekends as the phone rang non-stop for reservations while we waited to be seated for lunch on a random Wednesday. The sirloin and ribeye were both very tasty and well-seasoned, but a little overcooked (had ordered medium rare but both were mostly brown with slight pink inside). Salad was more than just lettuce and the dressing was wonderful. Service was slow (about 30 minutes from time ordered to time served) which seemed unusual because there wasn't a large lunch crowd, but if you aren't in a hurry, the food is worth the wait, including the creme brûlée. Pricing for lunch ($14-20 per person without dessert) seemed appropriate for food taste and quality. Right across the street from the Aquarium (which is always fantastic). Hennen's decor is upscale but we were comfortable in our jeans.

We ate here to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. The service was excellent! I had the Filet and it was cooked to perfection! (medium rare of course!) I had the mashed sweet potatoes (not on the menu but normally part of another dish) and they were like dessert! The roasted mushrooms were great as well! My wife had the shaved prime sandwich and loved it! The wilted collard greens were okay, but hey, they're collard greens, how good can they be? Bailey was very attentive and even gave is a recommendation for a good coffee shop! Overall wonderful experience!

Delicious cuts of meats. Modern atmosphere and a little pricey. But the staff is top notch and is very accommodating. I was in town for business, so a colleague and myself wanted to try out this place; even after hearing that it was pricey. We were seated immediately and the service was quite prompt. After ordering an appetizer and meal, our drinks came in. I am not much of a drinker myself, but the cocktail was way too strong for my liking and the waiter got me his personal favorite drink which suited me to the "T". They were nice enough to take the previous drink off the bill. For an appetizer, I got the french onion soup was fantastic, along with a small salad that was refreshing and crisp. For dinner, I ordered a prime rib that was juicy and tasted spot on. It was served with delicious and creamy roasted garlic mashed potatoes.

We had a great meal and a friendly and knowledgeable server. He was very helpful in guiding us to a great wine choice. Our steak was cooked perfectly, the mashed potatoes and mushrooms were very good. The place felt comfortable and casual. The only thing that could have been improved upon would be the molten cake for dessert. It was good but tasted pre-made rather than freshly hand made.

We went to Chatty in early June to go to the aquarium and afterwards searched our phones for a place to eat. Best reviews put us 200 yards from our already paid for parking place and we now concur with the Hennen's fans. We went in mid-afternoon, were greeted immediately and since we only saw folks in the bar area, so we opted for a booth there. The bartender, Shaun, was also our waiter and he was just the right balance of making sure we had what we needed without trying to make us his new best friend. My companions went for the Ahi Tuna with cucumber salad and I got the Delmonico Steak with herbed mashed potatoes. When we ordered, we asked many questions about where the food came from and our waiter was full of knowledge. Our dishes were cooked to perfection, seriously, it was the best steak I ever had. It wasn't just the food being wonderful which is why we will go back there-the place had a great atmosphere, the lighting was not overpowering, the music was jazz, but definitely background music, all of our food came out at the same time and all of it was the right temperature and delicious. It was a really marvelous experience. It was my birthday, so we went for dessert. We chose the Crème Brulee, the Bread Pudding with Cranberries and the Warm Chocolate Cake. We rotated desserts so that we could all enjoy the sweets and we were not disappointed by any of them. What a great treat it was finding Hennen's! Stop searching and just go there.

Our overall experience at Hennen's was decent. We started with the goat cheese platter that comes with arugula and fried mushrooms. The fried mushrooms were good, and the arugula was kept lightly dressed in a lemony dressing. The cheese, however, was not goat cheese. It may have either been mixed with feta or it was all feta, but not all of that cheese came from a goat, and that was disappointing. Our server was kind and knowledgeable of the menu, and I think that's what kept us seemingly happy through the night. I do, however, think he forgot about our bread. I didn't even know we were supposed to have bread at the table until he brought it out after we'd already finished the appetizer. Our meals were pretty good. I got the sirloin and my boyfriend got the 16oz. ribeye. My meat tastes beefier than his and was a little unevenly cooked. The beef ranged from being medium well in some parts to medium rare in others and I ordered a medium steak. The taste made up for it, though. I got the loaded baked potato as my side and it was yummy. The skin of the potato was salty and the ingredients were fresh. My boyfriend ordered a side of wilted spinach with his meal, and I must just warn you to stay away from those unless you want leaves that have been doused in a ton of melted butter. I literally couldn't taste anything else. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better steaks and better (real) goat cheese. As a place that prides itself on its steaks, this restaurant doesn't deserve a five. But the wait staff knew the menu and was friendly, and I think that's what helped Hennen's out a lot.

Hennen's is a Ruth's Chris type spot for the locals in Chattanooga and I enjoyed my dining there. I had the scallops for the main with calamari for an appetizer and both were very good. The scallops were cooked perfectly as was the calamari. The server was very attentive and answered all my questions with the menu. The price was also very reasonable.

Hennen's is in a great location right near the Residence Inn, the Aquarium and Hunter Museum. We made our reservations on Opentable although it wouldn't have been a problem to be seated as it was Monday night. And...I was super happy to find a nice restaurant open on a Monday night! We were seated in one of the upholstered booths near the kitchen and it was nice and quiet, but fun to watch the plates go by to help us make some choices. We had a free coupon for an appetizer and chose the fried shrimp and each had a cocktail. I ordered a "slightly dirty Absolut Martini with olives-shaken" and my husband ordered a "Hendrick's Gin and Tonic", both were absolutely delicious...and we ended taking our time with our lightly cornmeal crusted tender shrimp and aioli sauce, and having a second cocktail. Watching the dinner plates being carried by was super fun as one always feasts with their eyes first...and we both would have ordered the seared scallop atop steak if we weren't already planning on a steak dinner Wednesday! That also must have been a special as it isn't on the menu. Our waitress, Sarah, was absolutely lovely. We really enjoyed talking about Chattanooga and the Southeast with her, and she was a great help with the menu and being sure to get our orders prepared just the way we wanted. We like to split dishes and spend a couple hours over dinner, so it was great to not feel rushed or have our dishes all arriving before we were wanting them. She even offered to just bring us an extra plate so we could divide our entree without the $4 charge...but we both wanted it done in the kitchen. (What a deal!) For our salad we split the Baby Spinach Salad ($10) It was a nice combination of sweet and nutty with dates, goat cheese, spiced walnuts and pears with a light vinaigrette. We each ordered a glass of wine (they have a great wine list. Being from CA we were familiar with a lot of the CA wines and really impressed by some of the more obscure wines they offered). We spent quite a bit of time talking with the wine buyer, Jonathan--who may also have been a manager?, who was really charming and easy to talk to. For our entree we chose one of their specials. A rock seared Black Bass served over a bed of smashed fingerling potatoes in a mustard seed sauce that was delicious. It sounds weird to say this, but it tasted like fish, but wasn't fishy. So often I like fish because they don't even taste like fish...as in usually that's a bad thing. But it was tender and savory. The sauce on the potatoes had the right amount of tang. I would definitely recommend Hennen's if you are in the Chattanooga area. Great drinks, food, service, ambiance and reasonably priced for a terrific meal.

Hennen's may be the best Resturant in Chattanooga. We had fried calamari, bang shrimp for aps. We had the grouper & scallops specials for main entree. Everything was very good.

For transparency, I waited tables at Hennen's for almost four years. However, I went regularly before I worked there, and it's back on the circuit now that I've moved on. Pros: - Best steaks downtown, better than some much more expensive "steakhouses". - Comfortable, upscale atmosphere with plenty of nice booths, not stuffy at all. - Great consistency from the kitchen. - Beautiful bar area. - Validated parking in the garage upstairs - great on a typical crowded weekend downtown, when parking is a mess. - Awesome lunch, great value (not open for lunch on weekends). Cons: I really don't have any. They just hired a new executive chef, so time will tell how that goes. Update to follow...

Had my one-year anniversary with the girlfriend here and as always it was amazing. Best restaurant in town with great staff and the best (former) chef. He made us a five-course meal off the menu and we were enthralled. Spent two and a half hours here! A must visit for anyone.

Decadent spot for both meals and drink. Innovative and creative in their offerings while keeping their menu selection to a manageable one page. Every menu item I've eaten has been delicious and they serve some of the best and most unique drinks in town. Also, I appreciate the atmosphere of class and cleanliness. Would eat/drink here every day if possible.. PS: Doesn't have to breech deeply into the wallet, but if you do, which you might, you will leave more than satisfied.

We enjoyed this elegant, corporate spot in downtown Chattanooga quite a bit. We went on a Sunday night so it was quite slow, but the food was very good and the service superb. We had standard steakhouse fare...wedge salads (the BLT salads), a nice ribeye and a filet, haricots vert and roasted mushrooms. The steaks are supposed to be certified Angus, and they are very proud that they dry age their meat...the steaks did indeed taste flavorful and juicy with a nice char outside. However, prices are rather moderate (especially for dry-aged meat) so I suspect the meat is not prime...in fact, the only criticism I have is that my steak, though juicy and tasty, was rather poorly marbled and had large chunks of fat. Service was very friendly and attentive. We will be back the next time we are in town.

Add me to the list of those who had a most enjoyable experience at Hennen's. The service was outstanding -- very pleasant, very timely and attentive, not only fulfilling but anticipating my needs. The food was quite good -- tasty, attractive, well-prepared. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would, holding back slightly from a perfect 5 rating only because my prime rib was slightly undercooked (though not enough that it was worth sending back to the kitchen, so a near miss). With all that, and its location near other places of interest in Chattanooga (e.g., right across the street from the Tennessee Aquarium), I'll definitely plan to go back the next time I'm in town.

Very good! I had shrimp & grits, which I love. I asked the waiter if it was very spicy and he told me the spiciness was in the sausage and he was exactly right. I like when the waiters know the food they are serving. Husband had the filet and he loved it. We had the molten chocolate cake for dessert and it was delicious!

Have eaten at Hennen's on 3 occasions on business trips to Chattanooga, a couple of times dining there with large groups. Haven't heard a single complaint out of the bunch, though those that have tried the pastas seemed to not be quite as enthused as those of us that had steaks or seafood/fish. I guess that's why I didn't give it a 5. I liked the atmosphere... a little more upscale than the typical restaurants in downtown Chattanooga. Jazz music in the background, natural wood pretty much throughout, wine racks on full display through glass walls, and a good sized bar. Service has been fantastic on each occasion as well.

Only place open in the area on Christmas Eve. So glad it was!! The food was excellent and server Zack was very pleasant! I only wish they had oysters on their menu. Food was great. We had the Prime Rib, trout, mushrooms, brussles, and steamed spinach. Nice staff, lots of smiles.

Out of prime rib. Rib eye ordered Med Rare was Rare inside and charred in spots on the outside. Waitress offered to burn it some more. No thanks. If the waitress had come back soon to ask, but by then... A bit more gristle and sinew than I expect on a $25 steak. Steak came out on top of salad, which came out on top of appetizer. Vodka martini, dry with a twist of lime. First one was okay, second was muddy. Sent it back and the bartender sent it back to me insisting it was the "same". Really?!?

I don't like giving restaurants 5 stars, but this one deserves it! The chef clearly knows what he is doing and has put together a great menu. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and had flawless presentation. I recommend that you review the menu, but be adventurous and order the specials. This is the kind of place where you want to taste the chief's creativity!

The hostess FORGOT to write our names down, so after waiting an hour (she said it would take about an hour) we went up to check and she didn't have any record of us. So we ended up sitting in the bar. And after all that, the cocktails weren't great and the food was pretty bland. Overall, this place is not on top of it.

I was in Chattanooga on a business trip for a month and I ate out every single night. The best meal I had was at Hennen's. I was with a group of 8 and everyone agreed. I ordered the Prime Rib Special they had when I was there. It was perfectly medium rare, a knife was not needed and it just melted in my mouth. I am a picky eater and I killed a 18 ounce cut in under 3 minutes. I am writing this review well after my business trip and I still remember the Prime Rib. I recommended everyone come here and try it for themselves.

Not one of the better experiences I have had with "High End" cuisine in Chattanooga. The last 2 times I have eaten at this establishment I have been underwhelmed to say the least. The first time involved a soup of the day that tasted like the water was taken directly out of the Tennessee River and mixed with water from the dishwasher (crab bisque). The second time involved my sister's birthday and having 6 out of 7 dishes arrive with the waiter saying let me go get yours. Needless to say 5 minutes later my pasta arrived freshly nuked. Something about piping hot pasta chicken, and cold hard red peppers and onions....... My brother was served a french dip that looked like it had come from Arby's even though it was at least twice the price they would of payed..... Not one of my favorites when I go home to see my family. Would much rather go to Applebee's. At least if the food is not up to par there I am not paying an arm and a leg for it.

I walked into hennens and have been sitting at the bar for 15 minutes with no acknowledge or service. Not a first good impression. Let's see how they recover?

This place is one of my favorites in Chattanooga. The atmosphere is excellent and their wine selection is extensive. The food is also very very good, but I just wish that they had fried green tomatoes year-round. I ordered them once and loved them, but I've never seen them there again sadly. This is also a perfect place to take out of town guests. I took my friends from Germany when they were in town and they loved it. Try to get a window seat if you go. The views are charming, especially at night.

We had a sizable (~12) family dinner, with ages ranging from 5-70+. We got some great tables outside on a beautiful Chattanooga nights. Food was fantastic! I had a salad and the tuna (who would have guessed that Ahi on a river in Chattanooga for less than $20 would be so awesome). Decent wine selection at reasonable prices. Attentive, friendly service made this place a home run.

Hennen's was a great choice for my birthday dinner. We had burgers, fries and martinis and they were great. The service was excellent as well. I wouldn't hesitate to return if I was in town again.

Had the grouper special tonite. Excellent, but portion seemed a tad small to me. Pea- smashed potatoes were good, but again portion size was small. Overall we liked Hennen's very much. Would return.

After a visit to the fabulous Tennesee aquariumI walked across the street for dinner to Hennens. The restaurant had a nice minimalist atmosphere and great service. Incredible calamari with a ginger aioli (yum), I also enjoyed the poached pear and blue cheese flatbread with the baby spinach salad. The good food and southern hospitality was complimented by a great cocktail - I highly recommend the raspberry lemonade! For me, the next trip to the TN aquarium is synomous with a trip to Hennens!

In Chattanooga for business. Locals directed us to try Hennen's. 5 of us ate and everyone agreed that this place is well beyond expectations. I have never had a better steak for the money. Great food, great price, friendly staff makes Hennen's 5 star in my opinion. Our waiter Gus was perfect.

Amazing food! On vacation from California and the food was better than any restaurant I've been to. Unique flavors and meat and veggies perfectly cooked. Scallops and calamari -- the best I've ever had! The wilted spinach was so good, my 7 yr old twins ate it for the first time and loved it! Wish this restaurant was in Cali. Waiters were also so friendly. Suprised and impressed!

Hennen's is an excellent restaurant that specializes in steaks but have many other great choices. It is our first choice every time we visit Chattanooga. Holly was our table hostess and did an outstanding job! Highly recommend.

Came for a light dinner. It was gorgeous outside so I decided to sit on their patio. I had the Par 5, which is a tangy, acidic vodka, patron drink. A little on the tart side for my taste. I had a Caesar salad, which was by far the best part about my meal. I tried the Raspberry lemonade cocktail next& this was perfect! Exactly the refreshing beverage I was looking for. I then decided on dessert & had the creme brûlée it was sub par.

I went to this restaurant today for lunch and had an absolutely fantastic meal and time. It is easy to find and in a great location in what appears to be a historic building. Everyone was super friendly and the hostess was really good. The server was attentive and we never lacked for anything. The white bean hummus dip is an appetizer that must be tasted. Bursting with flavor and served with a generous portion of pita slices. I had the ahi tuna which was seared very rare and it was absolutely delicious and served with a wonderful cucumber salad. It is nice to be so pleasently surprised once in a while by such a good restaurant. Also, parking is a breeze at the underground parking lot right next to Hennens and a huge surprise came when our server asked if we parked there so he could validate our tickets so parking is free. We were fully expecting to have to pay for it. Wonderful, awesome experience at Hennens.

A great restaurant to get an amazing steak. The staff are very knowledgeable and passionate about the menu and the wines. The filet is something you don't want to miss, try it Pittsburgh style!

One of the best restaurants in the region. Great, chef-inspired menu. I almost always try the special of the day and it never disappoints. Go with friends so you can try everybody's dish. The steaks and seafood are phenomenal. Service is impeccable. Apps are inventive and offer flawless flavor and texture profiles. If you're looking for a perfect dining experience, choose Hennen's.

My wife and I shared our first anniversary at Hennens. With a reservation and request for a private and quiet booth, our evening was wonderful. The service by Holly was very good and our dishes were sublime. My wife had the prime rib which was so tender and cooked to perfection. My entree' of shrimp and grits reminded me of some of the best Low Country dishes I have had, but in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Overall, a great experience. We will be back.

think: Ruth's Chris... probably the place to get one of the top 3 steaks in Chattanooga. Most important is that it's not overly touristy - kind of a local place in a land of outsiders. I don't know a better way to describe it other than Ruth's Chris though - it's a very close copy of one. Definitely check it out.

I've been here a few times now and have had varied experiences. First time I had one of the seafood specials. It was several months ago, so I don't remember what it was, but it was great. Grits were done right, fish was cooked correctly, service was spot-on. Second visit I walked down from my hotel. Seated in the bar, ordered a Pomegranate Martini - I know, how trendy... It was good. Not the best I've had, but good enough I wasn't going to send it back. Service that night sucked. Sub-par doesn't describe adequately enough. The waiter couldn't have cared less if I were there or not and he didn't bother to hide it. I was very disappointed and seriously considered not giving them anymore of my hard-earned money. Last night it was raining -- I didn't feel like walking over to Big River or Blue Water, so I decided to give it another try. Well, there were only a couple issues, but they redeemed themselves. I asked to not be seated in the bar - didn't want to take my chances again. The Reisling was exactly the taste I wanted on a rainy night. I had the pork special on a bed of red beans and rice. That was also very good. My waiter was not the same as before and that made all the difference! He was pleasant, treated me like a customer, not an inconvenience. Though he didn't show it by sight, he seemed to be a bit overwhelmed. I'd wanted some bread to take some of the edge off of my hunger. It arrived at the same time as my dinner. That's the only real complaint I had about the experience. The vegetables arrived with the correct temperature, the pork was a little on the cool side, but tasted fantastic. Oh, and the coffee is very good! I would not hesitate to recommend, but will share some of the experiences so people are aware.

An upscale restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Good wine list. Fresh foods. The servers seem to know and understand the foods they are talking about. I've had the tuna several times (rare) and never disappoints. A good spot for a nice night out.

Good spot for gluten free. Waiter was knowledgeable and said chef could prepare many dishes gluten free. We went here for lunch with our kids and even though it's a fairly nice restaurant they were very welcoming and accommodating of our children. It is across the street from the aquarium and was an easy stop for a nice lunch. I had grilled salmon and the vegetable of the day, which was braised kale. Both were tasty and flavorful. The green beans cooked with shallots and olive oil were great. Kids had a cheeseburger that smelled great.

Fabulous!! This is the second time we've been to Hennen's and have had a wonderful meal. We started off at the bar where I got two perfectly made extra dirty martinis. The second one was made by a different bartender than the first, and he misheard and made a regular martini. I asked him if he could add some olive juice, and he gladly brought me a shot glass with olive juice so I could add to my liking. Eugene was our waiter at dinner, and he had great wine and food suggestions. His knowledge of wines really helped us pick out a good bottle of red to accompany our steaks. My husband had a NY Strip and loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly. I had a special of a prime rib topped with fresh crab meat, asparagus, and mashed sweet potato. The prime rib had very little fat, which is a rarity for prime rib. It was tender and had excellent flavor. The crab was a great touch. My husband couldn't keep his fork out of my mashed sweet potatoes. We would have licked the plate if we weren't afraid of getting stares! For a bottle of wine, 2 salads, and 2 entrees, we only paid $90!! I would have paid much more for a place like that. The atmosphere was perfect for celebrating a romantic anniversary dinner.
