After trying to let the hype go down after being opened for several months, I took my daughter and family to eat. First we waited an hour, then we are seated in a bad area, and then to top it off our was bad. The food wasn't all that my chips for my salsa tasted store bought I could have gotten better from Walmart the portions were ok. The food overall was just average to say the least.

Just tried Cheddar's for the first time ever! Fish Tacos, Fries, and Chicken Quesadillas were all great! The service (John) was stellar! Will definitely return!

Great service great food. Thanks Jeremy for being such a good host. I had the key west chicken and shrimp and my wife had the Di Jon mustard chicken. Both were awesome!

My daughter and I had a nice Easter dinner at Cheddars this evening. The lunch earlier at Firebirds across Gunbarrel Road was much more of an experience both for the palate and atmosphere. I am not saying Cheddars is a bad place...not at all. The service proved quite competent and we waited not a second for seating. However, one must purchase pre dinner bread; fine croissants, but still out of the ordinary to not be complimentary. Chips and queso was adequate but salsa tasted straight out of a jar from the supermarket. Barbecue chicken salad was with cold chicken, and a bit unseasoned and plain. My daughter had no complaints about her grilled cheese! Atmosphere is casual and the fish tank and unique ceiling fans are entertaining to a degree. The three stars are primarily for the fine wait staff and prompt service. I will return eventually, but this is far from my favorite local eatery. With Firebirds, Chile's, Chop House, Bonefish Grill, Abuelo's, PF Chang's, Bar Louie's, Big River Grill, and Ruths Chris all nearby, Cheddars needs to step up their game.

Love the grilled Fish Tacos! We have ordered other things, cheeseburgers, salmon, steak, and 3 different salads. Everything is always good. Service is always great! The price is always right!! But I have to say again, love the grilled Fish Tacos!

Had a somewhat large group with me so i expected some longer wait time but not this... it took over an hour to be seated, the server was nice and showed up promptly to take our drink order and appetizers, then disappeared for well over 30 minutes leaving us without drinks, our appetizers showed up about 15 minutes before the drinks once he showed up to take the order for the food it took us over an hour to get that... the food was average at best, you can tell most of it was frozen extremely disappointed in this place, I hoped for better will not be going back

This place is always packed, always. I think the main reason is price. The food selection is priced very reasonably for a sit down non-fast food restaurant. The quality is slightly below Applebee's/Chili's but still pretty good, again nice prices. We were seated right away and our server was pretty attentive and did a solid job. This is a family place so it was full of kids and pretty loud. The decor is nice and it reminded me a little of Carraba's but not as dark. I'm not sure I'd go back. It wasn't bad but it wasn't a standout either. I guess you could say I got what I expected: casual dining at a great price.

I was asked to come here by my sister and brother and law based on there positive experiences at this location. However when we arrived we were seated at a dirty table; we waited for twenty minutes and no one so much as greeted us. A couple came in seated in our same section after we waited for twenty minutes and they were greeted and served immediately. We then got up and left the restaurant. No one asked us why we were leaving or what our experience was...nothing. I was thoroughly disappointed by the service or I should say lack of service I received and felt totally disregarded by their lack of concern.

We have been trying to get into this place for 3 months. But the long lines always made us turned away. We finally decided to go here and waited it out. The staff was great so was the food. So glad we went. Can't wait to go again. The waiter was very attentive to my daughter. We ordered the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream for dessert. Delish

Opened on December 16th of 2013 this is one Chattanooga's finest restaurants. I remember when this was a parking lot for Walmart customers. I know because I used to park my car in this parking lot. A couple features I saw were a fish tank and a big pole spinning around on the ceiling with a bunch of fans on it. menu items ordered: fried catfish, macoroni and cheese, buttered corn, and sweet tea of course. First if all, they brought plenty of big portions of each item ordered. The catfish was fried and was great as it came with tartar sauce which I like with it. The macoroni and cheese was good as it came with sprinkles of cheese on top of it which gave it a special taste. The corn was so good I ate it first. It needed no salt for taste as it was just right. Finally the sweet tea was the best as I has to have 3 refills of it. Maybe even 4. In summary, if parking lot is full just park in the Walmart parking lot as it is right next door. I did and only had to walk maybe 100 feet to Cheddars. Altogether, I will come back as this was my very first visit to Cheddars. I was impressed.

We love this place! The food is always made from scratch and is very fresh! Service is great and the price is too!

Basic food; decent service; basic flavour & taste. Tea was watery and overly-sweet. I had the Philly Cheese---Far too many onions, and a strange grade of greasy cheese. My side of broc / rice cass was simply awful. Monty sandwich was far too salty and featured doughy areas within. I can't imagine returning to this location, unless driven in by a freak snowstorm. Our waitress pulled my review up from a one-star rating.

Very nice interior, very friendly service. The fish tacos are great. Will go back when in town.

If I had to define a "nice" place in restaurant words = good. It's ''good'' Cheddar's is nice and good. I ordered a salad and then tortilla soup, and for the grand finale some baby back ribs. It was good. I ordered some sweet tea (1/2 and 1/2) and it was good. Service was very nice and the place was clean and good. Check it out if you want nice and good, in Chattanooga!

We love cheddars. Everything I've tried has been great. The fish tacos are awesome and so is the Monte cristo

When it comes to reviewing restaurants and service I am very hard. I give this review 2stars only because the service is always great. I've been to this restaurant five times now and every single time the food is always absolutely cold. Now don't get me wrong I understand mistakes happen, and you're not always going to get a perfect dish. But when you continuously get the same product then it raises the question who are the cooks/chef. But this review is not all negative the restaurant is always clean and it seems that there are always super busy. Have to give a shout out to Cheddar's on their busy lunch and dinner time. But I really think the cooks need to pay more attention to detail because the food could be heated up before it serve to a customer. Appetizers and beers seem to always come out great it's just the entrées. But in all I would still recommend Cheddar's as a great place to dine or have lunch with family or solo. The prices you just cannot be in the atmosphere is one that you can enjoy a meal and a great conversation. Happy Eating my friends.. - BigCat

First of all, the bad things. This place is really good, so there is always a significant wait to get home. However, everyone in our party order the Montecristo sandwich and it is amazing every time. Above-average food and good service here.

After everyone talking about how great this place is I finally tried it. I probably won't be back. Had two appetizers and both were just mediocre at best. Server was very nice and attentive. Food is not worth the wait at all.

I wrote a review about the service, but after returning a few more times, I need to give this restaurant another review. After receiving poor service at least twice, I was ready to give up on them, but I really like the food, so I thought I would try again, I've been back at least twice and while the food is as good as before, the service as greatly improve! Very nice and friendly wait staff whom checked back often to see if I needed anything, it's nice not being ignored.

So today, another visit from my wonderful parents, up from Atlanta. Boy - did we get a lot done in a few short hours! And that included a quite pleasant lunch at Cheddar's. This is a chain, it is a little ambitious in scope of the menu - but bottom line? It's Houston's-lite, J Alexander's-lite-lite, that kind of food. And it's good. This is solid casual American fare, so to speak. Huge place and at after 2pm on a Wed, I was surprised by how busy it was! I'd heard they do a consistently hopping business, but didn't expect it at this linner hour. Prompt seating, nice staff, good server (Zach). We were more interested in talking to each other than being in deep thought over the menu - plus we sat in one of the back areas of the restaurant, so we had opportunity to check out plates on folks' tables as we passed and see food being taken to other diners....we had to start with the spinach dip - out of habit when it looks as yummy as theirs did at other people's tables - and it was really good. Spinachy and artichokey with an interesting seasoning (something different than I have had but much liked) and a dollop of sour cream on top that was nicely warmed on top of the hot dip. Mom and I went for the same - the double decker club sandwich with fries, which was even better than it looked at the handful of tables where we had gotten a peek, and Dad, in a salad mood, got the fried chicken salad. Score for CN - I got to bring home half my sandwich (I just finished it for dinner, hee). HP is chock full of chains, and Cheddar's is a runner up to J A's for my pick when doing all my Big Box food and shopping in this part of town!

I try to avoid chains at all costs... This was inevitable. This place just oozes the typical repetitive banter that annoys me most with chain restaurants and retail. Cheesy, fake attitudes by the waitstaff. I guess the experience wasn't terrible, but I will not return. Not for any reason, except that I was given no reason to enjoy it.

Once again, great service, great food, and reasonable prices. We were able to be seated immediately in the bar area, and greeted by our server, who was very attentive to our requests. I ordered the key West chicken and shrimp for the first time, and was not disappointed. The flavor combinations were spot on. Thanks Cheddars!!!

In one word, " Nope". I've been here twice. The ambience is all this place has going for it. It boggles my mind how this place stays busy in the evenings and weekends. Does not have good service. They seemed frantic and stressed and were unable to bring our food out in a timely manner. They say the food is made from scratch. I highly doubt it. I can make better food at home. Save your money!

Average food in a nice atmosphere. Very reasonably priced, which in Chattanooga means it is crowded with LONG wait times. There are better places to eat in our city and to me is not worth the wait.

Not impressed at all. The only positive is we didn't have to wait because it was on a Thursday afternoon.

We try to stick to locally owned and operated restaraunts, but while in the Hamilton Place area we decided to try Cheddar's for lunch. Since it opened the parking lot has been packed so we figured lunch might be a safer bet. There were indeed a few people waiting for tables, but since we opted for the high tops in the bar area we were seated immediately. We've been back twice since our first visit, and were pretty surprised by how much we liked it even though it's a chain. The food is good, and at lunch it's a pretty unbeatable value for the quality and amount of food you get. I've had the chicken pot pie and was really impressed with it, again especially since I wasn't expecting to be particularly blown away. The honey butter croissants are also really good. Overall, we've had three good experiences there and while I don't think we will make it an every-weekend kind of destination, I'm sure we'll be back.

The food was great. The hostess, however, lied and said she called our name over the loudspeaker. She didn't. She gave our table to someone else, and we had to sit at the bar. We got our food before our drinks. It was better the last time I was here.

While food portioning is impressive at this Cheddars, environment clean & upbeat, and servers friendly, the food itself tastes simply too "over-condimented" if that's an acceptable-enough term. In my humble opinion, my experience was the food was salty, condensed, overcompensated. When you eat the thought comes to mind "this can't possibly be good for you..." because it's simply too strong, and ingredients are not that stellar; I could just taste the preservatives. Again, maybe this review is too picky for some, but if these aspects are important enough to make it here, they're important. If not, enjoy your visit! Not a #recommend.

My wife ate at the Chattanooga Cheddar's on 7/11/14. We both ordered the Chicken Pot Pie with a side salad. The food was good. There was a Croissant Roll with the salad that was drizzled with honey. It was delicious. The only complaint that we have is that the restroom doors are too heavy and hard to open. My wife is using a walker and had a difficult time getting into and out if the restroom. All in all, we enjoyed our experience there.

The food is basically camouflaged fast-food. Loaded with stuff that did not taste like real food, added sugars to the carrots, buns on the burgers that did not taste like anything but dried cardboard and the meat of the burger tasted like lground up and fried cardboard. The catfish was taste-free, the broccoli overlooked and mushy. The real highlight was the queso dip for the plain and tasteless chips. If you like your stomach don't go there. Belly rumbling and still the feeling of being hungry was a give away that this is nothing but fast food in disguise.

Waitress ignored our table while taking care of either friends or family at her other table. My wife asked if the chicken soup was broth or cream based and the girl just said she didn't know. I had to get another server to answer the question. Our appetizers were very good though and my wife loved her soup. My salmon was over cooked and dry. A manager stopped to ask how our meal was and I told him the appetizers were great but my salmon is really bad. He responded by asking if the service was good. I told him it wasn't. He thanked me and left. That was it. No asking why or anything else. It was very weird. I would go for the appetizers but not the service.

I came here once before fairly late on a Saturday night and had a terrible experience with our waitress. She was impossible to find most of the night, but as I've always been a huge fan of Cheddars elsewhere, I wrote this off as a one-time error due to a very busy night. I came back on a Thursday at 1130am to give the restaurant a second chance. Their parking lot was full, but I was seated right away... and then my long wait began. After 15 minutes of absolutely nobody coming to my table (despite wait staff walking by a few times with food for others and my menu being at the edge of my table), I gave up and left. Clearly, they are not hurting for business and don't find my patronage necessary. I won't be back for a third attempt.

My family and I are regulars here and have never had a bad time. Never a horrible wait. Never bad mannered employees, in fact we're good friends with several employees. Great restaurant, hands down!

Seeing all the cars that filled up the parking lot at Cheddars made me curious about hiw good this place would be. Me and my gf went there and yes the deacor is nice and new which is refreshing for Chattanooga..but that is the extent of what was good. The food we recieved was so overly seasoned, I could not even stomach it. There was nothing special about any part of the meal. The vegtables seem like Something you would get from the frozen isle at Walmart. The food was way too greasy and the presentation looked like something you would get from a school cafeteria. You can get better food at Applebees for goodness sakes! We did get our meal compensated from the manager when he asked if the food was okay. That was the only redeeming part of the experience. We walked away from Cheddars feeling like we were dupped into it's exterior charms only to be fooled by the atrocious meal. Still so many people line up to eat there just because it's "new". Save your money...go to Chili's its essentially the same type of food except it's actually good and edible.

Way overrated by locals. Menu too large for fresh food. Are Chattanoogans that starved for a mediocre restaurant with a nice decor?

Delicious, fresh food and great prices! The restaurant is very clean and new. The service was excellent! I had the chicken tortilla soup- delicious! Along w/ a generous half portion of the club sandwich.

Great food for the price. Husband loved the key west shrimp and chicken meal, onion rings also a great choice! Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck

The food was pretty good. I got a club sandwich and fries, and I enjoyed it. The portion was pretty big. Everyone at my table seemed to like their meals. No complaints, just regular, good food. Nothing to rave about, but we were pleased. However, the service was not good. Our server was very slow and I saw her talking to friends or family while we waited over 15 minutes for her to bring the check after we asked for it. It took a very long time to get drinks. I called the manager over to the table to express my displeasure with the service, and he said he'd do something about it, and walked away and we didn't see him again. It was very loud in the restaurant. Surprising it was so busy on a Monday night.

Typical chain-restaurant food. But, the service was marginal at best. No bread come with any meal. Plus, if you want bread, they only have croissants and you must buy 3. We bought 3 and they weren't bad, but it just wasn't the right choice to go with a meat & 3. If you want big chain food, Chili's or Logan's would be better bets. But, local restaurants are always your best bet... plus it helps Chattanooga more.

Ive been here two times now and had the shepherds pie both times. Its delicious and if you can get in or don't mind waiting its a great meal !!

Very crowded and noisy. Menu is pretty extensive which means everything is frozen except the salad. First of all if you don't order an appetizer you won't get drinks and have your order taken for 10 minutes. My wife had chicken pot pie and I had chicken fried steak. Both weren't bad but not good either. The food reminds me of Cracker Barrel without the biscuits or O Charley's without the rolls (you get no bread). I really don't understand the attraction.

Sat down for supper about 8:30pm. Place was not crowded and appetizers came out quickly and were very good. Our meals were then very slow to come out. Delicious food, but very slow to come. Portions where good size and tasty. Wait staff were quick to fill drinks. Kitchen was too slow. We'll be back (yum!), but will try to go earlier.

Note: Not vegetarian friendly. The environment however is nice and clean. Sure, music they play would be favored by high school students or shoppers at forever21. I tried their grilled salmon with side of broccoli and apple yogurt salad. Just mediocre. I had the salmon with Bourbon glaze that was recommended by the waiter praising for its eye-rolling-goodness taste. My other friend claimed the burger was too dry and the chicken wrap was overwhelmed by ranch/blue cheese. I also had the waffle and chicken before and it's exactly what you'd expect. Nothing out of the ordinary. Ask for extra honey mustard because they serve it in a tiny sample cup sized container. The serving size was at average. Nothing too big nor small. Grilled salmon dish was quite small but I didn't mind it too much. Service was nice however. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Get the fruit infused tea if you decide to ignore half of my review. That's one thing I found pretty good here. Other than that, for the price and mediocre choices of the menu, I wouldn't come back here again.

I like it. The place is new so everything fresh about it. I went at a time that it wasn't so busy after about 4 months since it opened. Server was nice and place was well employed to handle the time I was there. I ordered the Spasagna as the meal. I ordered the chips and queso and it was awesome. The meal was okay though. I didn't get dessert, but spent about less than 20. They got a big fish tank in there so that's a plus. I will give it a two star. Just trying the new restaurant.

Christmas Eve morning. There by 10:35 and not but a few people there. Waited 40 minutes for a grilled cheese and chicken sandwhich before deciding to leave. They sat us down right next to the long line for gift cards too. Thanks five guys for being close and quick.
